Battery Taking Unusually Long to Charge

I purchased the new Macbook in early December and the battery worked fine.
After about a month the computer started taking an unusually long time to get 100% battery (days). When plugged in, the charger does not light up, but it has a very dim green light and the battery status says (10:00) whenever plugged in.

I have a Late 2008 MacBook also experiencing the exact same symptoms after about a month of use as well. Furthermore, I have noticed these additional symptoms:
• the Apple Profiler (and the power menu bar icon) always report the power source as "Power Adapter" when running from battery; hence it is unable to show time remaining on a battery charge;
• Apple Profiler and power menu bar icon will report percentage remaining during a portion of the time while the MacBook runs on battery, but on occasion will stop updating this number (and the charge remaining mAh);
• battery drains excessively quick, providing no more than 2 hrs of charge with minimal use and all battery saving features utilized (reduced backlight, no keyboard light, etc) leaving me with a charge to use ratio of 5-to-1;
• MacBook does not display the low power warning when the battery level drops low;
• MacBook shuts down abruptly, without warning noted above, rather than sleep or hibernate, both when the charge remaining shows a presumably false percentage of charge left or when properly it displays 0% (admittedly a shutdown would be normal when a battery if fully depleted, but the computer not attempting a sleep, hibernate or warning prior to reaching a dangerously low level is not);
• the MacBook did not exhibit any of these symptoms when I first bought it.
I have attempted multiple resetting of the SMC and the PMU, and done multiple attempts at re-calibrating the battery. Resetting the SMC will correct the charger LED light not coming on, but the behavior will return afterwards. All the other symptoms remain and appear to be unaffected by any combination of resets and re-calibrations.
My MacBook is up-to-date with all the software updates.

    I  am using 2 unit provided AC charger to charge my iPad mini. After a while, I checked the device. The battery is no longer in charge mode. It is only 80% charged. When I touch the AC charger, it is hot. I need to switch off the AC charger to let it cool down before continue to charge my iPad mini again. Of course it will be 100% charge but must make sure the AC charger is cool down completely.
    I feel that the provided AC charger that is not suitable for our charging on iPad mini.

    I would book an appointment at an Apple Store, if you have one nearby, to have it looked at.

  • Why is my ipad taking so long to charge now that I upgraded to ISO 7. Not happy

    Why is my ipad taking so long to charge.  I upgraded to iso7.01 and it takes forever and I am not happy

    Have you reset you iPad,or tried deleting the apps that are crashing and then opening them again.  Or closing them and reopening them. Also clear Safari and see it that helps. There have been a few other posts like yours , and I can't figure out why it happens to some ipads and not others. I have not even seen what happens with a "crash" occurs and I use mine all the time. Good luck.

  • My ipad is taking too long to charge and I am using original charger

    I am using original charge but my ipad is taking for every to charge.  Its been 6 hrs and the ipad only charged 50%

    This sounds like it could potentially be an issue with your battery, however, is the actuall plug that you put into the wall socket the same one that came with your iPad? The reason for asking this is that the iPad requires 2.1 amps in order for it to optimally charge, the iPhone charger has less amps so will therefore take a lot longer to charge.

  • Why is my iPad3 taking too long to charge? (I bought it in Korea and brought it to Philippines)

    How long should an Ipad3 be charged?

    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

    At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Do I get better results/ keeping the battery's life longer by charging only when it comes to 5-10% or should I let it empty and then charge it? Someone told me also to turn it off while I charge it... So help what is the best way to keep long life battery

    I got the new iPad on June 2012 and I wish to keep the long life of the battery as much as I can. I always and only use the cable that comes with the product and never charge it through computer.
    Should I:
    1) wait till baterry is completely empty, pratectly dead and then charge it?
    2) charge it when it reach 5%-10%.
    3) turn off the iPad when I charge the battery?
    Thank you apple support :)

  • Reports taking unusually long time to load

    Gurus,
    I am using BO 4.1 SP1. I am trying to open a report  on BI launchpad. But it is taking very long time to load. This occurs even when i am trying to access the last instance. Window remains in the following state.
    I checked load on the server. But tha'ts fine. What could be the issue?

    Hi,
    Ok, that's strange because the connection server doesn't actually handle data processing.
    (that would typically be the WebiProcServer or DSL_Bridge or DF service (depending on workflow))
    My advice would be to turn off 'refresh on open',  change viewer technology to "web view" (as opposed to Java rich internet client)  and start investigating again from that baseline.
    Also, this might be indicative of a BIplatform sizing or APS configuration issue. another option: have you upped your memory allocation to the Tomcat config?
    Regards,
    H

  • My iMac has been acting sluggishly; taking unusually long to recover from sleep mode as well as it arbitrarily opening an app on its own. What is going on and can it be corrected?

    My iMac has begun to act suggishly and unpredictably lately. It takes unusually long for it to wake from sleep mode and often opens with a particular app (PSE) for no reason. What is going on? Is there a clean-up procedure(s) in addition to clearing history & cookies or perhaps a upgrade I missed?

  • Why is my battery all of a sudden taking so long to charge?

    I changed a setting in the preferences to Never put the computer in sleep because i was charging an ipod two days ago. But, i forgot about the setting and basically left it running all night. Now the little led on my battery wont blink or anything, and my batery says it needs well over an hour to fully charge. Any of that normal or did i sufficiently ^& up my battery?

    I think you completely depleted your battery juice and therefor it need longer time to back to fully charged.

    This ipad does not fully charge any ideas?

    How are you trying to charge it? It's best charged using its supplied power brick plugged into the wall. If you're trying to charge it via USB your results will be mediocre at best since most USB ports don't put out enough power. Same results if you are using an iPhone charger for your iPad.

    My iPod was updating to iOS 6 and i shut it off during the update because it was taking too long and now my screen in baby blue i've tried to drain the battery but when i plugged it in to charge the blue screen came back on.I dont know what to do

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod touch 2g not used for months, battery drained and taking way too long to charge

    I had an ipod touch 2g that got wet a couple of months ago. They were inside a jacket pocket when the rain started pouring. After that, the screen only turn white when turned on. I just had the LCD replaced, but since i havent used it in months, the battery has been drained. I plugged it into my PC to charge for a couple of hours already, but its still not enough. The lowbatt icon is there, but iTunes still doesnt recognize it despite being plugged in for a few hours already.
    Does it really take this long to charge an ipod touch that has been completely drained and not used for months? I'm worried there might be other problems besides the LCD when it got wet before. Should I have it checked again for battery charging problems? Or am i just being impatient?

    I tried charging it through the adapter, still got the same problem. So i had it checked again and the battery apparently also needed to be replaced. Haven't had any problems with it since then!
