Battery Troubles

OK everyone, help me out here. This past weekend I switched from my 8GB to a new 16GB. The first one I got was complete crap and I had to return it in less than 24 hours. Anyway, I got a new one and everything was fine except for some strange things with the battery.
OK so here's what's going on: randomly the battery will just "die" when the phone says that there is an adequate charge. I plug it in and about 45 seconds later or something everything pops back on just like normal, with the same charge it had before it died.
Anyone else having this problem? I'm thinking it's just the battery icon not reflecting the battery, but who knows. Any suggestions?

Kavia,
You heard wrong. There was no recall, and the battery settlement did not include the Mini.
Try these:
• reset, serveral times
• update the firmware
• calibrate the battery and battery meter

  • Can anyone help - battery trouble!

Hey I was wondering if anyone can help me. My ipod is 2 years old now and even from the start the battery life has never been that good. having recently having to reset the whole thing i have had even more trouble with the batter life. I plug it into the wall then it says it is fully charged after a couple of minutes (it used to take hours before) and then now after charging in such a short time says the battery is full and im getting enough power for only three songs. can i reset the battery or do something else to help!?

    See these.

Might be time for battery replacement though. Google "iPod batteries" for cheaper options than Apple.

  • Confusing battery trouble after water spill.  Not quite sure what the problem is but would rather not have to pay for diagnosis.

    Hello there!
So a few weeks ago now I made a schoolboy error and spilt a small amount of water over my 2009 macbook pro while it was closed.  It wouldn't wake up when I opened it so I decided to try and open it up, although it took me forever to find a screwdriver small enough to get the back off.  When I finally managed to take a look, there was a small amount of moisture on the battery.  I left it to dry for a day or so, although probably not as long as I should have done and then when I tried to boot it up again it worked!
    However!
Since its been working again, the battery has permenantly said that it's 'not charging' although often it does seem to charge in spite of this.  I had thought / hoped that this might be fixable simply by replacing the battery, but I dont want to spend a load of money on a battery, should there be more to the problem than this.  Also I have noticed that the battery says 'replace soon', rather than 'replace now' which makes me wonder if the problem could in fact be something do with the logic board instead.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do next?  Of course I would like to be able to fix it and have a normal working battery again, but failing that, some insight as to where the problem might lie would be extremely helpful.
Here is all the battery info, which doesnt really mean much to me, but may be of some use.  Many thanks to anyone who helps!

Do you know how easy it would be to just take the battery out......
That depends on your MacBook Pro variant, which we don't yet know (don't know your OSX version either). Different variants and screen sizes have different battery specs. If you need to find out your model before replying, you can enter your serial number in this Apple web page:
    Check Service & Support Coverage
And it will translate to a model. If that doesn't work (I'm having to give options here because I don;t know your OS version):
    1) For Mac OSX 10.7 "Lion" and later, do "About this Mac" and, in the resulting window, press the "More Info..." button to get this:
The red arrow I added indicates your model and screen size.
    2) For Mac OS 10.4 through 10.6, do the same except the "More Info..." button will bring up this screen:
Again my red arrow poiints to pertinent data. Please post that code BUT not any serial numbers. With these OS versions you need to provide the screen size separately, either 13, 15 or 17 inch.
Once you've gone to this trouble it is a very good idea to add it to your equipment line in your forum profile so helpers don't ahve to go through this again for future questions. See my equip line below for an example of enough info to get fast help.

  • MacBook Pro Battery Trouble

I now have the third battery in my 17" Pro and it is having the same trouble as the first two; the battery bows up and expands rendering it useless. My extended warranty ran out in September but I'm really mad. This is obviously a KNOWN problem, according to the tech, so why do the customers have to pay for a crummy Sony battery AGAIN????

All batteries have a limited life span.  This is determined largely by  the amount of use it has had and how it been maintained.  If you use your MBP predominantly under battery power, it chronological life will be decreased than if you used the power adapter.
If your MBP has a user replaceable battery (reading between the lines) it seems that you are averaging a bit more than one and one half years plus for each battery.  With heavy battery use, that maynot be out of line.  If it is a built in one, then I suspect you have a valid argument.
I can't comment on what the 'tech' said to you because I was not privy to the conversation, but if you go to FINDER>HELP> MAC HELP enter 'battery' in the entry field you will find many useful suggestions for lengthening battery life.
    Ciao.

  • Ipod mini battery trouble

Hello, I purchased my son a mini ipod and although i am not 100% positive which generation it is i do know that it is either a generation 1 or 2. My son was listening to the ipod in bed one night then it froze on the song, on the screen it showed the song and the artist.
My son is tellin me 2 different stories either he droped it or it suddenly froze.
I have changed the battery myself through instructios i found on the internet, everything went fine. All that the screen shows now is an apple symbol even when i put it in the wall to charge, A battery symbol appeared for about 10 seconds then it went back to the apple symbol this was before i plugged it into the wall.
Is there anyway i can fix it or do i have to restore it or is my apple ipod mini stuffed!!
Any help would be most appreciated..
    Thank You
    dell   Windows XP

sounds like your ipod mini is dead i wouldn't of tried to change the battery yourself i would have gone to the local
apple macintosh retailer or repair shop it would have then cost you only $79.99 to have someone replace the battery
and it being done by a trained professional instead it is going to cost you 300.00 for a ipod now so have fun

"Brand new" means it should not be doing that.  Even a dying battery should show up.
I would go back to the store.  You have 14 days to return it, which you should NOT waste.  Get it in front of the Genius Bar immediately (well, day after Christmas may be the first shot you have) and get resolution, either a new battery or a new Mac by turning the old one in.

Hi i have an intel macbook and i am having some battery problem, basically the laptop is not recognizing the battery the battery symbol is on the top as normal except there is an "x" through it, so i constantly have to run it plugged in and if it disconnects it powers off completely. is this a hardware problem(is the battery drained completely) or is this a software problem where the computer is not recognizing the battery???

  • Update to iOS 7.1.2 and battery trouble

while updating to iOS 7.1.2, my iphone 5 had frozen at around 50%. and when i reboot with the advices from the community, my phone turn off itself even though it is 88% battery remaining... since a couple of weeks my battery is not able to last a whole day...

Read my message AGAIN, and click on the link I provided. If you browse the forum over the past 7 years you will see posts after every update that say EXACTLY THE SAME THING your post says, just substituting different version numbers for "7.1.2". And also posts reporting the same problem between updates.
If you want to believe its a problem in 7.1.2 that is your privilege, but it won't help you get your problem fixed. The ONLY thing that will fix it is to follow the instructions in the link I provided and other helpful advice that has already been posted in this thread.

  • Battery Trouble

Hi,I have a swolen Battery in my Lenovo Vibe X2 AP. Do we get replacements for the battery????Besides that I also not able to upgrade my firmware. It is about 70mb update and it fails to install.I have tried to reset my phone but it didnt help.

    Hi,
    This may be worth trying.
First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter unplugged, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.
Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the PC down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter again and start the notebook.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

  • Newbie battery trouble

recvd 2g ipod from wife last year for xmas.
initially plugged into usb port and charged it overnight.
gave to my friend to download all his music into my ipod.
Success!! Ipod then sat for a few months and now the battery wont charge. When I plug it into the usb, the status show green lightning for a few seconds, then changes to 1 red bar. and upon disconnect, it immediately says no batt power. left it on charge for over 10 hrs, no change, reboot, no change, another laptop usb, no change.
Please help if you can,, Thank you, Joe

Make sure your USB is connected to a 2.0 (usually in the back) connector. If you try to charge with a 1.0, there isn't enough power. Also in iTunes, make sure your iPod is set to run as a disk drive.

  • Battery trouble! Help me!!!!

okay i got my ipod mini from my friend a few months ago and now the battery life *****! I charge it all the way and then when i play it it only has like 30mins of life and then it tells me that is out of power! What do i do!

    Hello san716,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Did your friend "give" you the mini, or "sell" it to you. If your friend gave you the mini, that's probably why (battery problem). If your friend sold it to you, I would think twice about what kind of friend he is.
Firstly, drain the battery till the iPod is dead. Then let it charge overnight and see what happens in the AM.

  • My ipod 4th generation has been uncharged for almost 2 months...I plugged it in the charger and now a black screen appears with a yellow horizontal line at the top and 4 yellowish greenish spots at the corners of the screen.Battery trouble?

So the ipod has been working working fine. I left it for almost 2 months and when i charge it again this is what i see!! It has not been dropped!! The Ipod still works ...when i connect it to itunes it responds normally. Also the ipod produces the charging sound and sounds for notifications!! i tried guessing where "slide to unlock" is so that maybe the touch screen still responds but yet it was useless!! what might be the problem!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Droid Razr M Battery after KitKat Update

I recently updated my Droid Razr M with the KitKat update when prompted.  Battery life went from not needing to be charged for well over a day, to draining from 100% before the work day ended with light use.
I contacted Verizon and humored them and did the "battery trouble shooting" things with them, even though it appears to be a well known issue.  When the troubleshooting had no effect after a few days, we did a factory reset, which also didn't help.  I ended up getting a new phone because I had extended warranty coverage.
When I got the new phone, the battery was a dream, just like old times, after 2 days the system prompted me to do the KitKat update, which I did against my better judgement.
Meanwhile my husband also did the KitKat update on his Droid Razr M and started experiencing virtually the same battery problems.  Now both of our batteries drain about 50% faster than they did before the update.
My question is, if this is a known issue with Verizon, why bother treating it like user error?  It also seems like to "resolve the battery problem" (which they don't acknowledge is a direct product of the update) they ask users to basically not use their phone normally, but limit their usage to get more battery life, which isn't a solution at all. Is there an actual solution related the the problem (the KitKat update) that I can use to extend battery life on my phone?  Or should we both call and request replacement phones since the malfunction is not due to any sort of user error?

        Richard-in-Brooklyn
I'm sorry to hear about the sudden trouble with your battery on the Razr M! Let's check into our options to resolve this. Were any new applications added to the phone recently? Does this continue if you place the device into Safe Mode for 24 hours? Here's how: http://vz.to/LZzdS9
