Welcome to the Forum.
It could be a faulty battery... I hope your MB still
under warranty.
Technically all MacBooks are still under 1 year old till the 16th of May 2007. That will be the one year anniversary of their release:->
After that it will depend on the original purchase date.
Of course there are instances where the computer may not be considered under warranty due to accident and other sundry events.
Best way to be sure is go here and at the bottom of the page enter the serial number and see what coverage apple says you still have.

  • Problems after Battery Update 1.4

Has anyone noticed that since installing the Battery Update 1.4, their battery life has been reduced significantly? Prior to the patch I was getting a good several hours from a full charge, now I am lucky to get 1.5 hours.
Also, while the patch was meant to improve the Macs ability to +'maintain its charge when shut down and not used for an extended period'+, I immediately noticed the first night that I shut down with 3/4 battery and woke up the next morning with 1/4.
I have read of several people having issues with the battery not charging or taking a long time to charge - I haven't noticed if I am having this trouble as well.
    Anyone??

My battery was great I never had to take my charger with me, but after Battery Update 1.4 my battery only lasts half as long now, and if I didn't use it for a week my battery was still 80%-90% now if I don't use it for a week I only get half an hour before I have to plug it in.
THIS UPDATE HAS CAUSED THE PROBLEMS THAT IT WAS MEANT TO FIX!
I only installed this update to be a good little consumer and have now ruined the performance of my macbook, I have tried to uninstall it and rollback to the previous version with out success.
    Please help?

  • Problem with PowerBook G4 Battery Updater

I hope somebody can help me. My Batterie do have 66% of its native capacity. I like to run the new Updater to optimize the capacity.
But I get an error if I start the Updater:
Your Power Supply must be connected
The updater don't start. But I have also connected the power supply.
    Please help.
    Thanks macneo
    PowerBook 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

This is the information to the Updater:
The installer puts the "PowerBook G4 Battery Updater.app" application into your Applications/Utilities folder. When I run the application, I get the following instructions:
The PowerBook G4 Battery Updater improves the performance of batteries that may develop short run times. The update process will take about 15 minutes and must not be interrupted.
To upgrade the firmware on your battery, read through the instructions below. When you're ready, click Update.
The PowerBook G4 Battery Updater is installed in Applications/Utilities.
During the update process your PowerBook G4 needs to be running, the power adapter must be plugged into a working power source and the battery should not be removed. Your battery will appear to have no charge and will not power your computer until the update process has been completed.
If the update is interrupted retry the update process again until successful. If you have more than one battery to update be sure to complete the update process before starting to update another battery.
    1. Click Update to start the update process. The status bar shows the progress of the update.
    2. Wait until the update is complete. When complete a dialog will show that your battery was successfully updated.
    3. Remove your battery, then put your battery back into your PowerBook G4 for it to be recognized.
    4. Repeat the calibration process for your battery, to get the longest running time possible.

  • Ever since I downloaded IOS 5.0.1 and the so called battery update my ipodtouch 4g can be fully charged play a few songs and its dead

ever since I downloaded ios 5. and the battery update on my ipodtouch 4gen it can be fully charged play like three songs then it says 20%left then it dies. My ipod was fine before the download.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing wil be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem than an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Macbook battery & service problem.

Received a refurbished Macbook 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo yesterday. Quickly set it up & updated to 10.4.9 etc before noticing the X on the battery icon and no battery power! System Profiler said 'Battery Installed: No' and my heart sank... this laptop was bought by a friend, on my recommendation, & I was meant to be sorting it out for her. She can't wait to start using an Apple.
So, as per Apple's online help: (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305364)
    1. Reseated the battery a few times.
    2. Installed Battery update 1.2
    3. Tried the SMC reset (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319)
    4. PRAM reset (altapple+pr at restart)
    5. Quick Google search: It seems the battery problem was identified by early 2006 - very surprised that faulty ones are still being shipped as new.
A call to Apple uk confirmed that the battery was faulty and needed replacing BUT I'd have to wait a week and give my credit card details in case I didn't give the faulty one back! I suggested an appointment their flagship Regent Street store in London (where they have clinics, workshops, a concierge service, Genius Bar, the works) but apparently they would not be able to replace the battery.
And since I bought through the Apple store online, I'd have to wait for a courier exchange, like Dell. I sighed & gave my card details. 'Sorry, we don't take Maestro or Switch, have you got a VISA card?'. So, I can buy products with my card, but I can't get customer care with it! When I asked if it would be better to simply return the whole unit as it didn't work, I was told that Apple's policy did not permit returns or refunds, only repairs or replacement of faulty parts. I quoted the Sale of Goods Act, and was told that they could replace the unit, but it would take several weeks.
OK, so I used my company card and I'm just crossing my fingers that I'll be at home when the thing arrives.
Have I done the right thing? Should I have insisted on a new unit? Any suggestions?

The new battery arrived Monday (naturally, I had gone out for 15 mins!). Replaced & charged up fine.
My friend is now the proud owner of her 1st mac & looking forward to using it.
UPS came to collect the dead battery today, so I hope that wraps it up!

  • Fan on all the time since Battery Update 1.2 installed

my fan stays on all the time now. this only started happening recently -- about the same time as i installed the Battery Update 1.2. It might be just coincidence.
is any one elses macbook pro doing the same thing?

    Good news re it stopping
    For Modesty0007,
If the problem doesn't occur on a new account it most likely means you have a process running on your other account that uses up a lot of CPU, making your computer temperature go up and the fan spin harder in turn.
Go back to your usual account and have a look in Activity Monitor to see if you have a process running that fits the description.

  • After Battery Update, Battery Tops Off At 96%

Hi. Have a MacBook and I did the battery update recommendation and now the battery never reaches 100% charge, it always goes to 96% and it runs down much faster. Has anyone else noticed any differences in the MacBook batteries after the update 1.2?
    Thanks steve

hey, i'm having this same problem but i've been noticing that it's because temperatures are spiking up to 130 C when i run Rember for only 30 seconds. This has only been happening after the battery update, before i was only getting maxed out temps of 75C

  • Battery update 1.4 won't install snow leopard

I bought a used macbook 2.0 2006 model. The battery in it was dead when I installed snow leopard. Now I have a new battery, but it will only charge to 92%. So, I installed battery update 1.2, which did nothing for the problem. Then I tried to install battery update 1.4 but  could not get past the install screen. Is it because I have 1.2 installed and should I go to system core service and delete update 1.2 then install  update 1.4

I have an update to my own post. Since I have a newly puhchased copy of Snow Leopard, I was able to call Apple tech support. Hear is what I found out from them. Battery update 1.4 is not compatable with Snow Leopard, it stops at Leopard. I still don't know why  update 1.2 installed.  I tried all the other things that Apple recomeds such as reset system management, zaping the pram and draining the battery.

  • IPhone 4S sudden battery life problem with iOS7

I've been hearing the rumors of iOS7 battery life problems but not experiencing them ... until today.
The battery seems to lose about 20% every hour without my really using the phone at all. No calls. No Safari. No Calendar. No email.
I stopped all applications. Still drained.
    Recharged.
I turned on airplane mode.  Still drained.
    Recharged.
I turned off application background updates. Still drained.
I am recharging now. And I have turned off location services.
Not sure what changed. In the last day I did upgrade my computer to a brand new Mac Book Pro.  Could syncing with my new computer have changed something on the phone that would have initiated this.
I installed iOS7 on the release day and haven't had this problem until today.
    Any other tips?
    -Steve

Curiously enough, the problem is gone today.
Didn't change anything that I know of.
    Turned background updating on.
    Turned location services on.
Battery life seems to be holding in a "normal" way.
    Baffled.

  • Unable to Calibrate Battery or Install Battery Updater

I think I have a problem with my internal battery on my Aluminium Powerbook G4 as when I charge my battery up and then let is discharge to follow the calibration procedure I get the warning that the powerbook will go into sleep mode and then when it should go into its reserve sleep it just shutsdown.
I have to plug the adapter in and press the power button. When the powerbook has booted I get the date & time reset to 1970 !
I am only getting less than a hour out of my battery so I am thinking thats on its way out and I will probably get a replacement but I wanted to at least calibrate it first to check.
If the internal battery is shot can it be replaced and has anyone actually done this procedure ?
I have also tried to run the powerbook G4 battery updater however I can not get past the message "Your power adapter must be plugged in You must have a 65W power adapter plugged into a working power source during the update process". The power adapter is plugged in, the battery is charging I have tried it in multiple plug sockets and even at different locations but no joy. When I look at the system profiler under power the AC charger information is showing up at 50watts am I missing something ? I have tried my friends adapter and that shows at 50W as well !
I have reset the PMU and also PRAM however these dont seem to have done anything.
If anyone could shed any light on any of these matters I would be truly gratefull.

Given your date and time is constant resetting that normally indicates a dead internal PRAM battery. Try leaving your PowerBook connected to power for around 24 hours to see it it changes anything. It's quite possible that you problems will go away if you were able to get this battery working or replaced it. You would be surprised as to how much havoc this little battery can cause.
As for your main battery, have you tried it in your friend's PowerBook to see if it behaves like it does in your PowerBook? If you have then you might want to.
As for the power adapter, it should be showing 45W or 65W. Apple have never made a 50W adapter for the PowerBook G4s. Can you confirm that you have a 65W adapter? It will say that somewhere on the adapter so if it doesn't you're not using a 65W adapter.

  • Battery updates

ok this might sound the most stupid question ever , i dont knwo how to install the battery update relesed by nokia recently for lumia 800.
i changed my lumia for anothe rlumia due to some issues with teh previous handset, i m still havung the battery problems,
i have checked for updates on Zune, it says i have the most recet settings, (which i doubt as teh battery is draining as hell even in standby)
pls update me the process, i might be doing something wrong or its time for a fifth handset of chuck lumia altogether
    cheers

    If you can't wait... http://nokiainnovation.com/2012/03/guide-how-to-get-the-latest-lumia-800-update-now
Fact remains that this is no service at all from Nokia... updates should be worldwide available at the same time (it's downloaded from Microsoft servers so don't start comments about not enough capacity... this upgrade is peanuts compared to for example Windows 8 previews).

  • Battery Update 1.4 with Snow Leopard

I have updated my OS to Snow Leopard. I tried installing the Battery Update 1.4 but was unable to install the update. My current installed Battery Updater Bundle is 1.2. Thanks.
    Kelvin

I solved the problem in this way:
    - Install OSX 10.5 into an external HD (10.5 requires about 13Gb).
    - Upgrade to the latest 10.5 release didponibile (10.5.8 in my case) because "Battery Update 1.4" requires OsX 10.5.6 or higher.
    - Download and run the "Battery Update 1.4" and check that the Pack Lot Code becomes 0003.
    - Turn off your Mac and unplug the external HD. The next time you restart, the Macbook should go to boot on the inside HD and the battery's Pack Lot Code should still 0003.
I hope that this workaround, however tedious, might be useful.
    bye.
