Battery Update 1.2 For MacBook and MacBookPro

Just posted today:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305256
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/batteryupdate12.html
Make sure your computer's power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source. And wait 30 seconds before you validate the installation.

Weird-o. I followed the Knowledge Base article's directions to check the version number after installation. All of the "bundles" inside the SystemConfiguration folder are ... folders. So when I do a "get info", of course there's no version number because, well, it's a folder.
So... since NONE of the bundles in that folder are being read as the correct file type, what does that mean?

I never knew that was available until I started looking around this site and it seems that since I have the internal dual core I should be able to update to mountian lion...is this correct? Will someone please help me and walk me through this. I love my mac I want to have it running like it should be.

  • Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter for MacBook and MacBook Pro

Does the Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter for MacBook and MacBook Pro work in cars to in the cigerete lighter and how does it work on a airoplane cause in airoplanes there is only a mike connection thats about it ?

This is an alternative solution that works great for me. I always carry a small and lightweight DC to AC converter with me in my case when I'm on the road. It's a Wagan Tech Smart AC 100 USB that I picked up at Costco for under 20 bucks. 100 watt capability and allows me to use all my electronics and chargers on the road. I can use it to charge the cellphone, laptop, ipod, etc.
Even includes a USB port on the side for charging USB based products and also includes the aircraft adaptor (and of course a cigarette lighter adaptor) and everything fits into a small cloth bag (included).
    http://www.wagan.com/htmls/detail-2382.html
The link is for the newer 120 watt version but it looks identical otherwise. If you don't have access to Costco then check the link provided for either direct purchase or the availability of other resellers. There's a "where to buy" tab at the top of the screen. Cheers!
P.S. I just noticed that you are from the U.K. I'm sure this will still work as your MacBook charger should autoswitch down to 110v input, you'll just need to make sure you have the North American plug installed. If not, I'm sure there are similiar DC to AC adaptors available in the U.K. Hope that helps!

  • [svn] 2773: Update excludes list for JBoss and WebSphere.

    Modified Paths:

JGroups is an open source project that allows processes to send messages to one another. LiveCycle data services uses it for its messaging implementation (basically it configures the server to multicast messages to all the listening clients...even in a clustered environment across different LAN/WAN).
In most cases the default configuration will work fine, the problem is that if you are running a firewall on the server (or your local machine...i.e. windows firewall) the ports that JGroups uses for its communications can be blocked. In a local environment its easy enough to disable windows firewall and bounce your server to get things working.
In a production environment you need to open the ports that JGroups is using. These settings are in the Global Administration settings (as mentioned by WorkspaceUser above). If you export it and look at the JChannelConnectionProperties you'll see the ports its using and you can set your firewall to allow communication to those ports.

  • Power adapters for MacBook and MacBook Pro

Are Apple power adapter universal for MacBooks and MacBook Pro's manufactured over the past few years. I would like order a spare power adapter and I own three laptops all which have been purchased in the past three years. I have two MacBooks and one MacBook Pro.

Not sure what you are asking. The AC adaptors for MBs and MBPs are not the same. The former is rated at 65 watts and the latte is rated at 85 watts. The latter could be used with a MB or a MBP, but the former could not be used with a MBP. Both adaptors have the same MagSafe connector. They would work on any appropriate Intel model since 2006.

  • Installed Battery Updater 1.2, but MacBook still shutting down

Lately my MacBook has been shutting down with about 18% battery life left. I came onto these forums, followed the directions for removing Battery Updater 1.3, successfully installed 1.2, but it's still shutting down.
Is there anything further I can do? Is it possibly just an old battery? (I bought this computer in December '06.) If it matters, my cycle count is 335. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was having the same problem and now it is fixed-- here's an update:
I finally had to take my macbook to the apple store. Basically, the battery died (saw the X in the battery status and it would only run plugged in). They got the battery to work again in the store by resetting the SMC (which I had tried too, but whatever) but they agreed the battery was messed up.
The weird thing is it showed my battery had like 422 charge cycles, even though I've had it like 8 months and I only run it off the battery a few times a day (and not often all the way until the battery runs out).
Anyway they replace the battery, and while I was there I showed them the stains on the top part of my case (the piece with the keyboard) and I told them about my screen sometimes flickering in terms of brightness. They said that those were known issues, and they'd fix it.
So I got it back 24 hours later, with a new battery and new keyboard piece. Cost me nothing and it works great. It is practically like a new computer and my battery lasts MUCH longer than it used to.

  • Do I have the correct Battery UpDate installed in My MacBook?

I have a May 2006 (original) white MacBook and I see that I installed the Battery Update 1.2 must be a couple of years ago now-- but then I see Battery Update 1.4 -- OK it is not for my MacBook; but when checking this out, I see that neither is Battery Update 1.3 - yet when I go to /System/Library/SystemConfiguration and do a GET INFO on BatteryUpdater.bundle - it says 1.3 under version; but that's what it is supposed to say if Battery Update 1.3 is installed; mine should say: BatteryUpdater 1.2 -- so now I'm wondering if I have to re-install Battery Update 1.2 or not; whether I'm causing problems (same original battery after nearly 3 years; but I run 95% on the AC transformer - but I do notice that my battery-only time is not much more than an hour).
    Any comments appreciated--

I just want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU and it is people like you who make these discussion groups so wonder, so informative-- and prevent people like me from having heart attacks and allow us to sleep at night!!
This is just great-- I really i mean REALLY appreciate this-- so very kind of you to take the time to point this out to me. I just love my MacBook- was ready to get a new one-- had the cash in hand (literally-- cash!) in Texas (and I live in Belgium!) about 20 Oct 2008 when I saw NO FIREWIRE PORT on the new MacBook-- I'm still with my May 2006 white MacBook and this is the longest (nearly 3 years) I have gone since my first 1989 Mac SE without purchasing at least one new MAC!!
OK if USB3 can best FireWire-- sounds great-- but will my EUR 2000 (about a billion dollar) investment in FireWire LaCie HD's work with USB3?
OK I'm rambling but am such a MacNut! Thanks for your reply!

  • Battery Update 1.2 for Mac os X 10.5.x?

    Hi,
I have a MBP with 10.5.4 and I do not have any battery update installed on it. My wife's MB (not Pro) with the same 10.5.4 has battery update 1.2 installed.
Wasn't supposed that any Leopard has the battery patch embedded so it does not require any patch?
Also If I try installing the battery Updae 1.2 or 1.3 on the MBP it says something like the update is not needed for my machine. Hopefully it knows what it does since one battery just died on me !
    Any hint is appreciated

    Welcome to the Forums!
You can check your version as follows:
Finder > Go menu, choose Go to Folder.
    Type /System/Library/SystemConfiguration, then click Go.
    Select the file named BatteryUpdater.bundle.
Select File menu > Get Info and check the Version.
If it says 1.3, you don't need any updates (i.e. they were pre-installed when you purchased your MBP, but that was not the case for the MB). If it says something other than 1.3, please post back.

  • Same power adapter for Macbook and Macbook Pro?

We have a new Macbook and Macbook Pro in the house and I was wondering if the power adapters were interchangeable. I noticed in the store there are two different adapters for sale, but the ones we have appear to be the same or similar. I feel almost certain we can use them with either computer.
    Thanks for your help.

The 85 W MBP adapter can be used with both, the MB will only draw what it needs. The lower wattage MB adapter will not simultaneously power the MBP and charge its battery, but it won't do any harm.
    Hope this helps...

  • How to update ios 5 for macbook pro

pl guide me up to update ios 5 for my macbook pro...i am currently on mac os X 10.6.8

You download 10.7 Lion from the App Store. http://www.apple.com/macosx/
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM and a Core 2 Duo processor but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
Also Lion doesn't run any PowerPC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. WhenSystem Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.

  • Charged battery says 8hrs, used for 2min and it went down to 4hrs....Why?

I fully charged my macbook (purchased 11/09). The battery icon at the top of screen said i had 8hrs remaining. I used the laptop for 2 mins on the internet and checked to see how much time it used up ( I believe when I bought the computer it said something about the battery charge lasting 7hrs and I new I wasn't getting this). The battery icon said I had 4hrs remaining. Why did the time get cut in half when I only had the computer on for a few mins?

I just had a similar experience, but in reverse. I had been using my Macbook for about an hour and a half, and it went down to 20% (and it said that I needed to replace it soon). I quit my browser, and the battery immediately jumped up to 55%, and no replacement message.
From what I gather, it has something to do with recalibrating batteries, but in your case, your battery is pretty new, so that doesn't really make sense.

  • Cannot install Battery Updater 1.2 on MacBook

When I download Battery Updater 1.2 and try to open it, Disk Utilities opens and asks me to save: BatteryUpdate2007001.pkg When I hit "Save" it says I can't save it unless I change the file extension to .dmg. Then it saves the file with .pkg extentioin. When I try to open this file the whole process starts over again.
When I try to open the file with DiskImageMounter I get the same results.
Any idea how to get off this merry go round and actually install the updater?

Hey, you've found one of the 200+ improvements to Tiger! j'k
Problem is, it's not supposed to open in Disk Utility... we could straigten that out, (probably should), but in DU highlight it and look for the Mount button, then go to finder, look in the sidebar for it, click on it, double click on the pkg.
I the finder Right click on it, choose Get Info, look for open with, it should say Disk Image Mounter, but says now DU I bet.

  • HT1420 After updating to 11 for itunes and ios 7 for phone - I lost over 3500 songs from my itunes.  My ipod still has 4100 songs on it less the most recent ones I have purchased.  Can't my ipod be used to recreate the library in itunes?

After updating itunes to 11.1 and phone to ios7, I lost more than 3500 songs from my library. My ipod has 4185 songs less the most recent I purchased.
Is there no way an ipod can be used to restore the lost music?  Yes, some of it was from cds but were done a long time ago.  Obviously it was acceptable for me to compile this music then, now they want to say since it all wasn't purchased, I can't have what was already mine?  Plus I do not use nor want to use the cloud, but it keeps creeping up even though I don't want or use it.  HELP!

  • Different apple id shows for updates on mac for iPhoto and iMovie

Hi, on my Mac there are two updates available for iPhoto and iMovie however the update requires me to use my old apple ID which I no longer use. I have checked iTunes, iCloud and the App store and my current apple ID is used for all of them. I don't understand why my old apple ID keeps showing up, I can't sign out of it because it doesn't give me that option.
I'm really confused, please help me out!!!

Those applications have the old Apple ID stored inside them. It can't be changed without deleting them and then redownloading them from the desired Apple ID; in the case of preloaded applications, you may also need to contact Apple. This can be done by going to the Mac App Store main page and clicking on Support under Quick Links.
