Battery use/multiple users

If your sensor is in your running shoe and you're walking around but without the receiver, is the sensor battery being used? Also, if you're trying to use Nike+ and your running partner is also using it, does this mess it up? Do the sensors get crossed over? Thanks Nike+ Gods for your assistance.....

well it would be a good idea to cut and paste all your 'itunes Music' folder to 'Shared Music' on the Windows XP machine... then you need to change the folder for importing to under every user to the shared directory.
This is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music on most computers i think.
HOWEVER this means you need to 'add folder to library' for each user you want to see the files.
also i reconmmend backing up you iTunes folder beforhand as you risk the change of losing playlists and rating etc if this messes up ...

  • Autologin to an account when using multiple users

Is there a way to have a mac running Mac OS 9 set up with multiple users autologin to one of the accounts?
Ok, since I know people will ask why do you want to do that. I have an old mac and found my old XTension home automation software. I want to make this machine a dedicated home lighting controller. (I have a new mac mini doing this in my house, but I wanted to play with the old machine for fun). Now, I have multiple users set up and one account for home automation that has the panel version of the finder and the only application visible is XTension. This all works great.
If the power goes out, I want the machine to reboot into this home automation account automatically. I also want to have the machine power cycle once a week just to keep from any memory problems etc.

    Hi, Mark -
I know of no way that could be set up, since nothing usable runs until an account is logged into.
I assume that you want to retain the ability to switch to a full OS whenever needed; otherwise, the solution would be to turn Multiple Users off, and set the OS up the way you want it for automation purposes.
Two possible solutions allowing the retention of the ability to have a fully-operational OS available -
    • Partition the hard drive, then install OS 9 on both (it can be installed on one, then copied via drag-and-drop to get it on the other partition also). Set one up as a fully-functional OS, and the other as a limited-to-automation one. Once you set the startup disk selection to the partition with the automation version, whenever the machine is restarted it will continue to use that one. You can use Startup Disk control panel to switch booting to the other OS when needed. Note - partitioning a drive will erase its entire contents, so you would need to first back up anything you do not want to lose.
    • Similar to the preceding, but, provided your machine has the capability to accept a second internal drive, add a hard drive to provide the second volume.
The advantage of the first one is that there is no additional cost. The advantage of the second is that you need not erase the original drive.

  • Restrictions on using multiple user tasks in parallel ?

    Hi there,
are there any restrictions on creating / managing multiple user tasks sequentially or in parallel in a BPEL process ?
Sometimes my BPEL engine (OC4J/2.0.11) generates an error about "unregistered object ..." and the BPEL process failes.
The BPELConsole then is not able to display the process state anymore.
    Thanks,
    Wolfgang

There should be no restriction on how many task you can run in parallel. The only requirement is to use distinct partnerLinks (the partnerLink is statefull and embedded the correlation information).
If you are combining flowN and tasks, you can achieve this by using local partnerlink (not supported by the designer but supported by the engine so a local partnerlink can be added to the process using the XML source representation of the BPEL).

  • First time using multiple users - how do I share addy books, etc?

Hello, We just got the new iMac and for the first time I am setting it up for multiple users. Can anyone guide me to a tutorial or guide on sharing different things between users?
Specifically, I'd like to share iTunes and iPhoto libraries and also Entourage address books with the new users that have been set up. Probably some other stuff to that I'm not thinking of. I browsed around without any luck.
    Many thanks.

    You're welcome!
I've been on these discussion boards with various logins I always seem to forget since the iMac first came out, 8 years or so ago.
LOL Yeah, I have to drop the Welcome... bit. It's bitten me two or three times already since the forums software was changed....
I'd at least like to import my current address book into my wife's address book...
Open your Address Book and choose the Directory, 'All.' Select an entry and then do Command-A so that all of the entries are highlighted. Go to the File menu and choose Export vCard. Export it to your Desktop, and then put it in the Shared folder. Log in to your wife's account, open Address Book, and then from the File menu, choose Import > vCards, point to the vCard in the Shared folder, and you're set....

  • We have never used multiple User Accounts on our iMac. The only reason we want to is for iMessage, Mail, FaceTime, Notifications, iCloud. However, we want to share iPhoto, iTunes, and documents/folders. Should I share Macintosh HD?

Macintosh HD > Get Info > (select) Shared Folder
Is this the best way for my wife and I to share common folders and files, but not usernames, messages, and email?

  • After migration to new iMac - problems with Microsoft office 2008 using multiple users

I migrated my data from my old Imac to my new Imac.  On the new Imac I created multiple logins for my kids.  My microsoft office 2008 programs will not open.  I keep getting the "Customer Experience Improvement Program" screen which cycles through, checks for update then closes never allowowing me to access the program.  Please help!!

Reference your first post - I download and use dmg files, so either I'm lucky or they are supported.
I would try the disk reinstall since at this point there doesn't seem to be many options.
Do you have a backup? You could restore the Microsoft Office 2008 folder.

  • Want to use multiple users on PC to synch iPads

We have an iPad cart with a PC laptop for synchronizing the iPads.
How can I synchronize the iPads with different users without erasing them first? i.e., if the iPads are connected to the computer and someone else logs on, iTunes wants to erase and synchronize the iPads.
    Thanks

There is one account for the school. Both user's iTunes profiles on the same computer are registered with iTunes with that one iTunes account.
Guess I will just have erase all the iPads and synchronize to the new iPadCart username and not let others sign on to that computer while it's connected to the cart.
    Thanks

  • Multiple Users/Logging In Problem

Using Multiple Users I added a second user to our iMac DV400 (blueberry, slot loading) running OS9.2.1. The problem: now we can only log on to the second user's desktop and can't access the primary user's desktop. Since the second user is set up with limited user privileges, we can't access the system programs; most importantly, the Multiple Users program so that we can revert this problem by deleting the second user from the system. Can anyone offer some help?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions pd,
Start from your Mac OS installer CD (insert it and hold the c key, release the key when you see the "Welome To Macintosh" message)
Open your hard drive and locate the System folder. Open that and locate the Preferences folder. From that folder, delete the three preference files and one folder with "Multi User" in their names.
Restart as normal and empty the trash. You will have to re-create the user accounts.

  • Coldfusion 11 Multiple Instance Multiple User Access to Settings Summary exception

I have a multi-instance and using multiple user administration. One of my users notified me he was checking an exception when viewing "Settings Summary" in CFIDE. I was able to replicate the issue by creating a new user and assigning all available permissions. Going out on a limb, I'm guessing the the function $funcCHECKROOTADMINUSER is checking if the user is the "admin" user, which they are not.
Can someone confirm if this is actually what is happening?

  • OLT - multiple user load - Array Index Out of Bound error

    Hi,
I am executing a load test with 12 users.
All the 6 script scenarios are written in OpenScript editor. They all have databanks associated with them.
When I run the test in OLT with 2 users per script scenario making that a total of 12 users, I see the following exceptions that have the wording as:
+ An unexpected exception occured in the script. Script section: Run. Caused by : ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException occured. 71>=71
+ An unexpected exception occured in the script. Script section: Run. Caused by : ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException occured. 206>=206
+ An unexpected exception occured in the script. Script section: Run. Caused by : ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException occured. 206>=86
Has anyone seen this error before, It is sporadic and does not always occur on the same scrip
The version I am using is OLT 9.30.
    Thanks,
    Kranti.

    Thank You for your response.
When I run with a single user using databank, I don't see this error.
It apparently happens only when I use multiple users and it is quiet random so I cannot narrow down on a particular script to figure out the error.
In one run scenario A shows this error in another run scenario A runs perfectly fine and some other scenarios shows this error.
Also, I have around 100 values in the data bank and I see this error early on by around the 10th or 20th value in the data bank.
Where can I check the resultIndex number?
This is how I make my calls to the databank in the OpenScript script.
    getDatabank("ReinstatePolicyNumbers").getNextDatabankRecord();
              getVariables().set("polNumber", "{{db.ReinstatePolicyNumbers.Var1}}");
              reinstatePolicy(userid, getVariables().get("polNumber"));
    Thanks,
    Kranti.

  • FCP with Multiple Users

I am a public high school teacher using FCS 2 with 10.6.4 on iMacs with 2.4 GHz processors and 1 GB of RAM. Because of my students coming and going through the day, I have Multiple Users turned on to where each student logs in to their computer for each class period. Final Cut Pro will begin to launch and get to the splash screen, run all of the numbers and then just quit before it actually lunches. But yet when I log in as the Administrator it will fully launch just fine or, on one machine one student can launch it and another one cannot! Is there some conflict with Final Cut and Multiple Users?

There isn't any conflict I'm aware of using multiple users. I'm an Instructor of Editing using FCP and we haven't had any problems with our "Public" computers. It sounds like you need to trash preferences. I use this free program to trash and manage my preferences.
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
We have it set so that every time a student launches FCP it loads our saved preferences. Our students all work off their own external hard drive. Through Preference Manager we have it set up so they are prompted to set the scratch disk before FCP fully launches. This forces the student to think about where they are saving. I don't know if that is a concern of yours but it has made things much easier for us.
    I hope this helps!

  • Running multiple User Profile Service Applications -- recommendations, pitfalls, etc.

I have a farm with one WFE, one APP, and one SQL server. The User Profile Service runs on both WFE and APP, the User Profile Sync Service is on the APP server. There is a single User Profile service application running that pulls from 4 different AD
import sources: two in the US, one in London, and one in Mexico.
There is a nightly incremental synch.
There is an issue where the London users need the synch to occur hourly.
There are some complexities with one of the US sources in that would make it difficult to run the current User Profile service hourly, plus there is a performance concern.
I'm interested in possibly creating a second User Profile Service Application that reads only from London and runs hourly.
Beyond creating the User Profile service and scheduling hourly, what should I be concerned about?
Will I need to (re)create new Audiences based on those from the original User Profile Service App? Run them immediately after User Profiles? Will there be an interruption in access during that gap?
    Recreate custom User Properties?
    Recreate any Forefront modifications?
    New Profile/Sync/Social DBs?
    etc?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use multiple user profile service application.
Yes, you can do it. Only one user profile application can be configured to work with the Profile Synchronization Instance. If you want more UPS instance, you need to start UPS on different server.

  • How can multiple users use the same Creative Cloud Individual on one single-machine?

We have one shared graphics workstation, which is infrequently in use by different people - therefore we bought a single-workstation license (which we were referred to "Creative Cloud Individual"). In the FAQs it says it installs locally, but whenever a user different from the installing adminstrator logs in, he is forced to use the trial.
Is there a way to make the local installation usable on that single machine for multiple users?
Thanks in advance for your reply

  • How to use Final Cut Pro with multiple user accounts?

    Hi,
I want to use Final Cut Pro on a clean user account. How do I set it up? How can I access my old FCP library and still work on it from multiple users?
Also, I want my DropBox account to back-up my media. Any tips?

I use external drives as backup. But I don't trust them. And in case of fire or what ever...It is of no use...
But I agree on your comment about DropBox. It would have been the perfect solution though.
    What else is there?
I have a 2TB HD but these projects are huge and still growing - so I have to move my projects to several external drives. So maybe I should just work directly from external drives and skip the partition of the computers main drive? I am thinking of the disadvantage of reducing the total storage of the disk.
