Battery with "wrong" serial #

my macbook pro 18 months old (207 battery cycles) running on battery turns off at 85-87% life. I followed http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/
it seems i meet all requirements but the small print is Apple technical support representative or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) will determine if the battery is eligible for replacement, free of charge. Are they just looking for me to keep pressing them as if buying a car or has anyone experienced this. thank you

If you can (assuming you haven't) try taking it into an Apple Store - that will likely yield a free replacement vs. calling phone support.

    I've always trusted Apple for the quality of their products, but this time it happened something that I'd never seen with any other Company.
    Last week I bought a Refurbished  iMac 27'' on the on-line Store and I was so happy and excited that I decided to invest the cost reduction into another Apple product (Time Capsule).
    Everything seemed fine until when yesterday I tried to install my new iMac. I had 2 bad surprises: first one, is that the iMac was working (as I heard the "Apple" sound ), but the screen remained completely dark ... I tried, re-tried and re-tired again but ... nothing. Already I was not anymore happy .. let's say .. and then I decided then to open a ticket on the support site and the second surprise arrived: the Serial Number on the chassis was not existing! Not only that, but in the invoice there was a different Serial number ... Maybe they delivered the wrong one? ... 
    Ok, I thought, but the super-duper Apple customer service will certainly help me ... and you know what? The only possibility they gave me was to call (paying 0,50 € per minute) to provide a very low quality service (they asked me for the 2 serial-number for 10 times at least + 2/3 for the phone number and they pretended me to call them again, because I was not sitting in front of my iMac !!!!). I managed to ask them to be called back .. of course 3 days from now...
    My questions to you guys are:
    1) is there any fast way to get some quality support from a company like Apple????
    2) does ever happened to any of you to receive the "wrong" iMac?

    The spinning beach ball is a kernel panic, the kernel is the heart of the OS. This can be caused by a number of things both software or hardware.
    If you go to Applications> Utilities> Disk Utility and select Macintosh HD (or the name of your hard drive) from the tree on the left, then select Repair Disk Permissions and let the repair process run until it is complete.
    Once done, restart your machine and hold down the following keys: alt, R, cmd and P before the start up sound is heard. Keep holding until you hear a second louder start up sound. This clears the memory and resets the PRAM on your iMac.
    Repairing permissions and resetting the PRAM usually resolves a number of issues.

    Aussimick you will want to enter in the qualifying serial number from the full version of Adobe software you purchased.  You can find the serial numbers located under your account by following the steps listed in Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

    To switch, I am afraid you will have to reinstall using the other one.
    But that should hardly be necessary.

    This is a user to user forum so there is no one here to provide you with a new serial number or to reset your serial number.
    It is possible that you are trying to activate an installation of the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom. It is not possible to do so with your License Key. You need to uninstall the existing version that you have installed. This will not interfere with your catalog, Preferences or personal files, it will just remove the application.
    Then download the perpetual license from the link below. Install and it should accept your license key just fine.

    Wehn I whant start the program it says the wrong serial number. But I have here the orginal Adobe Box. I make my PC new.  And I do not deactivate the old one, could this be the fault.

    make sure you're using the adobe suite for which your serial number was intended.  i see something about (what looks like) a test version in your screen shot.

  • Second battery with same problem

    I have had a new battery replaced by Apple for wearing down prematurely. I had 50 cycles and was getting 70%health. I have had this new battery for approx. 2 months and have noticed that after 20 cycles the health is declining. I am currently at 89% with only 20 cycles. I have calibrated the battery last night, reset the pram, and smc with no avail. Here are my power specs. Please suggest anything that will help. Is there something wrong with my charger ( I don't get alternating lights or anything like that)

    I have a September 2007 battery with 43 cycles on it, and it has consistently been at 100% health the entire time I've had it. I don't think fluctuating health would be considered normal. I would report this to Apple and maybe get a case number. Then keep a log of what it is doing and keep track of any SMC resets and calibrations.
    It's hard to know if this is a battery problem or something else. My niece has just had to replace her battery for the 4th time, and feels there is something wrong with her original MBP that is causing premature battery failure.
    Does your charger seem to work properly? Steady amber light when charging, fully charging the battery, steady green light when not charging? It sounds like you have a fluctuating battery health problem rather than a charging problem. If it's not just another bad battery, there could be some problem with the MBP itself which is causing the battery to fail prematurely.
    However, with Applecare, it will be covered, whatever it is. A 2 month old battery should be working perfectly after just 20 cycles.

    -Your device needs both the CR and LF. To accomplish this:
    option 1: Concatenate the "end of line" string constant (this is a combination of CR and LF, located in the string pallete) to all your outgoing commands. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is false.
    option 2: Concatenate only a CR to your command's strings. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is TRUE AND that the termination character is set to 10 (meaning LF) which I think is the default.

    Interesting would be to configure the serial port to accept not one but two termination characters. The above links refers to the document "Developer Zone Tutorial: Termination Characters in NI-VISA.", where this is supposed to be possible. The document however is 404'ed.

  • I had my iPhone replaced in 2011 because of the camera shutter app defect, and the "genius" put in the wrong serial code and after update the phone will not work. What can I do?

    I took my iPhone to AT&T after I tried to update to iOS 6 and the phone said I needed to insert the original sim card which was what was in the device. AT&T said to take it to apple because it had to be a software issue.  I get to the apple store and they tell me because I replaced my phone because of the defective shutter malfunction the "genius" entered in the wrong serial number by one digit causing the phone to turn into a UK phone and they could not fix it unless I have some sort of reciept or email saying it came from Apple. Mind you this is a year later with a move from TX to HI as well! So what am I able to do?? be out of a phone because they messed up?? They told me I could outright buy a new phone which I am NOT going to do because this phone worked before.

    I cant find any reciept in my email or in my husbands email.  I am going to attempt to call and speak to someone who can help me because this was not my fault except trying to be normal and update my phone!

    recently purchased a used ipod 3g. i came with a dent in the uper left corner of the back of it. im not sure how old it is. it will (without ac pluged in) show the apple logo then turn off, when pluged in it will show either a battery with a exclamation mark,or a folder with an exclamation mark. when connected to windows it is recognized as there being a usb device there but it cannot determine what it is. when connected to a linux box (also have 4g ipod works fine on this box) it will nto even detect it. also when plgged it and booted you can hear the hard drive and it is rather loud. im guessing that the battery is old and dead and will not recharge (as i have seen no sign of it recharging) and the hard drive is dammaged. I have tried reseting, disk mode. both to no results please help for i dont want to pay to have it fixed.

    Yeah, it could be 2 problems i.e. battery and hard disk, but it could be some thing wrong and stop your iPod to get charge. So please plug your iPod have a charge with the AC charger for few hours. (Do a reset before your plug it the charger). Then find a Mac computer, put your iPod in disk mode and connect it with a Mac compter, do a Restore there, if you can able to finish the restore process then connect it back with your PC, and redo the Restore with your PC.

    It wants you to connect it to your computer's iTunes, not to contact iTunes. If it's disabled then connect the iPod to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPod and re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPod into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808

    We are using SAP Business One 9.  We have some items managed by serial number.  Occasionally, someone will ship a customer the wrong serial number (vs. the serial number they have picked for the Invoice).  What is the best way to fix this?  Do we need to do a credit memo to get the incorrect serial number showing back in stock, and then a new Invoice with the correct serial number that they were shipped - or is there a better way to fix this?

    I live in Viet Nam. I have just bought new MSI GE 2PC laptop on 03/07/2015. On 04/07/2015 I installed window and check bios serial number, I detected this number is difference with box serial number. I also detected my battery was wear 3%. ON 05/07/2015, I re-tested battery wear level, it is 5%.
    What happen with my laptop, I don't know the reason why my battery was wear and bios serial number was difference with box serial number.

    Clean the platters – that's a good one. However I did break the retractable cup holder on my tower.
    There is no way I replaced the battery with the power on after the comments here. It just confirmed what I thought but I figured I would ask anyway. I value their opinions and nobody here wouldn't steer anyone the wrong way.

  • MBP with no serial number

    I recently had my logic board replaced on my 2 yrs old MBP.  I also had the bottom case replaced due to a dent (unrelated)  and ever decreasing gap on the superdrive slot.  The top case was also replaced due to a trackpad issue and defective sticky key.
    On it's return from the local Apple Store, the memory showed defective and the apple store told it needing replacing but given it was a 3rd party upgrade (4Gb) it was not covered. I checked the memory and seated the 2 modules (both unseated) and all was well. I also noticed that all the lables in the battery bay were missing. Not too concerned but thought something may have been there - Bar code, MAC Address etc
    Last night I was checking a few things and noticed that my serial number is now showing as  "System Serial#"  There's no number now. Should i be concerned that I have a MBP with no serial number? 
    All repairs were carried out at an Apple store in the UK, so genuine repairs, though you'd never guess it given the case fit and gaps

    You'll have a small one.  Time Machine doesn't use the serial number, but it does use a hardware identifier on, guess what, the logic board, to tell one Mac from another.  So on your first backup, you should get the prompt in #B5 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
