Battery won't charge - no battery i

I have a Nomad Jubkebox Zen Extra, bought last year. I'm going on a trip and went to charge the battery and zip, nothing. I just get the "plug" icon that indicates external power. I do not get a "battery" icon. I have tried reset, recue mode for disk clean up, and still the battery won't charge. I have read some postings about jump starting, but they refer to the Zen Micro, am I to asssume it will work for my Zen Extra. Or should I try and find a new battery. I have to admit, I have not use the unit in quite some time. So it may have fully discharged, and I may be out of luck. Anyone who can assist me in this, I would appreciate you help.

If the player hasn't been used for a long time, and the battery was flat, the battery voltage may have dropped below the point it can be charged. There are a couple of things you can try listed here in the Zen FAQ at?Nomadness.net. Jump starting the battery is dangerous so you do this at your OWN RISK. Lithium Ion batteries can explode or catch fire in certain circumstances.

Hi, my iPhone 4 won't charge properly and the battery drains really fast plus the handset is very hot. Does it need a new battery?
It just suddenly started happening yesterday before lunch and hasn't been right since! I haven't done any software updates or anything that could cause it. I e tried deleting my mail accounts, turning phone off and re installing them as suggested in one post but that didn't work!

Downloaded new iOS for iPhone 5. Now the handset is running hot, keeps freezing on different screens, won't charge on official charger ( only charges on crap poundland one) and battery is loosing 1% every two minutes! I've closed all apps and reset the complete phone but no luck. Any one know what else I can try apart from a new phone?

I have done a factory reset at 45% battery. After the reset it's still hot and at 35% now

  • How do I restore my Ipad 4 from my desktop computer? My charger was broken. I bought a new one but now it won't charge. I have a BATTERY bar in the middle of the screen that is flashing RED and I have a symbol on the bottom that looks like a charger.

How do I restore my Ipad 4 from my desktop computer? My charger was damaged so I bought a new one but it won't charge. On my Ipad, I have a BATTERY bar in the middle that is flashing RED and an icon on the bottom that looks like the end of a charger. I have tried to force into reset mode, by holding the sleep key and home button SEVERAL times but it does NOT work. I have plugged my Ipad into my desktop computer, but I do not have a screen on my desktop that is coming up. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE AFTER I DID AN UPDATE AND WAS LOCKED OUT AND I USED EITHER ICLOUD OR ITUNES TO RESTORE, NOT SURE WHICH AND I FORGOT HOW.

    Hi MrsMoosie,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If your iPad isn't responding or doesn't appear to be charging, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful, in particular the following portion:
If you don't see the charging screen within an hour, or you see the connect to power screen, check your connector, USB cable, and power adapter. Make sure that everything is plugged in firmly, free of debris, and not damaged. You might want to try a different USB cable or power adapter.

    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. I suspect a hardware problem  due to the hotness. If iTunes can't see the iPod then uor only hope if to contact a data recovery company for getting data off the iPod. If you have an iPod backup you can restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from the backup to get the data that was in the backup

  • Battery won't charge

I had my MBP for 3-4 months now. My problem is that the battery won't charge when it has more than a certain persent. If it goes red (the battery indicator on top), then it charges to 100% but before it charges to 100% the light blinks green, amber, green, amber (like the one mention a few post before mine). When its at (lets say) 85%, it won't charge, all I get is a green light from the magsafe indicator and its stuck there. The persent indicator on the screen doesnt move as well, I also check the led indicator at the bottom of the battery, one led is not lit. I did the reset the PMU as well as battery calibration it didnt help. I'm down to like ~ 4200 mAh. It has like 11 charges since I got this, age of the machine is 4 months. So I can't call apple to ask for help unless I want to pay like $56 for a week of tech support or buy the applecare (I only have 90 days of telephone support, and it ended a couple of weeks ago). Any way I can email apple or something?

Because it says invalid. Apparently, they forgot to put a "it must start with 6N"
The website should say (according to the apple tech):
    Identifying your battery
The affected batteries have model number A1175 and a 12-digit serial number that begins with 6N and ends with U7SA, U7SB or U7SC. To view the model and serial numbers located on the bottom of the battery, you must remove the battery from the computer. The battery serial number is located above the barcode. See photos below. Only batteries within the noted serial number ranges need to be exchanged.
    Edit, it says:
One or more of your serial numbers didn't validate.
Please check the serial number and try again. Or, in the United States, call 800-275-2273 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. PST for further assistance. For other countries, please use our contact page to find the appropriate support number.
    So I called Apple Support.
I read the FAQ 5-8 times.

  • Battery Won't Charge & Can't Update OSX Beyond 10.4.6

I'm a relatively new Macbook user, so any insight would be helpful.
    Here's my plight:
My battery won't charge, so I called AppleCare and they told me to download the latest FIRMWARE for the battery. (This is after re-setting the battery, and pressing the button located on the BACK of the battery, hoping to get the three-or-four green lights... I'm getting nothing).
I came here and downloaded a battery fix/update - the problem is that the battery fix requires my OS to be 10.4.8.... I have 10.4.6... And I can't log onto the internet (another 'fun' issue) through my Macbook in order to download anything beyond 10.4.6....
So, now, I downloaded 10.4.7 from the apple website, off my Windoze PC, yet when I try to load 10.4.7 on my Macbook, the set-up goes through the motions, then STOPS after I ACCEPT the terms, and tells me that I don't have a (I'm paraphrasing) proper HD to store the updated version.
No more than two months ago I had to get a new HD (after only having my MacBook for six months) and I'm not looking to get another one...
Since the root of my issues stem from me not being able to upgrade... Any thoughts on how to upgrade, even though I can't connect my Macbook to the net?

  • Brand new G780, battery won't charge

I got my G780 a month ago. It was brought to me from USA (I'm in Europe) where it was only tested for a few minutes. Yestarday I started it up for the first time. Battery stays on "0% (plugged in, charging)" and it won't charge. I tried to take it out and hold the power button for a minute - nothing.

    hi,
Can you try turning on the system without the AC plugged in see if that'll work.

  • Ipod touch's battery won't charge... see red battery

My ipod touch won't charge or turn on. I have tried charging it for more then 10 hours but it still won't charge. All i see is the red battery sign. I have the right charger and i plug it into the wall. Any help?

  • Almost new battery won´t charge, does not work on AC

After spending a few days in Taiwan (110V) the battery of my PB G4, A1138 won´t charge any more. Power connector lights amber.
After coming back to Austria, i connected the PB for 2 days and it would charge again and worked proper. Now, 2 months later, the battery again refuses to charge, coconut battery & system profiler say that there is no AC power connector & battery is not charging. It won´t power up with AC connected. I did the PMU reset and PRAM reset - no effect.
The battery is an original Apple replacement and has only 40 loading cycles. i´ve measured the voltage at the battery connector in the battery slot (3V & 6V depending on the pins), so the charger provides voltage.
Can anybody tell, if the DC-in board is faulty or if it´s the logic board or something else?
    I´m thankfull for any advice!

It's fairly common for the pre-MacSafe power connectors on the computer to loosen due to stress. The points where the barrel-shaped chrome connector assemble is soldered (or flowed) to the logic board lose contact and you get intermittent charing at best.
If you connect to A/C adaptor and gently wiggle it up and down, can y ousee charging start again/ "Up" is the position where the contact should again meet.
My 1Ghz 17" MBP will not start on A/C alone until the battery has a little charge. I don't know it's the dead internal backup battery (common) of something else that causes two good 65W power supplies to report in Profiler as 45W.

  • My brand new mac book pro battery won't charge to 100% it only charges to 99%. What's wrong with it ad how do I fix it?

My new MacBook pro won't charge to 100% battery it will only charge to 99%. Please help!

Nothing is wrong, that is normal.  If you let it drop below 93%, it will recharge back to 100%.  It is a feature to prolong the life of the battery.

If this does not help, you may have to take the computer to the Apple store to have the computer and battery checked out.

  • My ipod touch battery won't charge

My ipod was out of batteries, so I charged it, but no matter how long I left it for, it wouldn't get past the 20% battery line.

Take to an Apple store or Apple certified repair shop. When a battery won't charged, it's time to replace it.
    Apple - Batteries - iPod

  • Replaced battery; won't charge beyond 27%. Some settings lost on restart

I recently took advantage of Apple's replacement program for overheating PB batteries, although I hadn't experienced any actual problems. After I installed the replacement my battery won't charge past 27%, plus the date and time reset to 1969 and my AirPort network settings are lost whenever I restart or shut down.
The power indicator in the menu bar constantly shows ""Calculating."
I've already tried resetting the PMU and allowing the battery to discharge fully.
    Any ideas?

And now for the good news…
The Genius Bar at the KC AppleStore was the source of the solution. They diagnosed a bad battery (the one I'd received in the PB battery replacement program) and changed it out. All's well now, including the "disappearing" settings.

  • 1 Year old Battery Won't Charge

    Hello,
I've had this battery for about a year and it has been working great until now. I think the battery is still good, but the computer is having a problem charging it. The light is green after chargeing for a few minutes. At the moment, the battery is at 2% but won't charge longer than 10 minutes. I thought this might be a battery calibration issue, but after running the battery down, it still won't charge longer than 10 minutes. Does anyone else have this problem and is there anything I can do to fix it.
    Thanks

    alan link-
If you had asked the question about whether you can use your iBook without a battery HERE instead of at the store, you would get a different story. It is different from the one you had and different from the one the Genius gave you.
The official Apple line has always been that iBooks and PowerBooks depend on the battery to buffer fluctuations in voltages. These fluctuations are common on power lines, and can also be caused by problems in the AC Adapter, such as fraying of the cord (which is very common). Because the battery is an integral part of this buffering, Apple does not recommend using an iBook or PowerBook [or probably a MacBook either, but I have not experience with those] without the battery in place.
From a practical perspective, most will run for short periods without the battery. That may be OK for bench testing and fixing up a broken iBook. The longer you run your iBook with no battery in place, the higher the likelihood that it will suffer damage from not having a battery to help buffer fluctuations in power.

This sounds to me like a hardware issue. Take it to an Apple Store or Apple authorized repair service.
