Battery won't recharge more than 14%

I have a Pismo G3 and when I recharge the battery, it won't recharge more than 14%. Also, I have to reset the date and time each time I turn the computer on. It was working perfectly for more than three months. Bought it recently.

It has 10.4. I will try what you suggest. I bought it used and who knows how old it is. However, it was giving me two hours plus and I didn't use the machine for a few weeks and then this.
Sometimes that is how they go south.  You might try the conditioning thing once or twice as a last resort.
You might try OWC for a replacement battery.  I just got a fresh one for the TiBook a couple of months ago which has about twice the actual capacity of the older ones.  (One of the older batteries is an "original" I bought with the machine over eight years ago and is still plugging along like it had good sense, about the same as the aftermarket one that is somewhat younger.  Its partner died five years ago in a fashion similar to the symptoms you are describing.)

You said "reset," so Meg assumed that's what you did. But "reset" is not a button; to reset the phone you must hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. You may have to hold for up to 30 seconds, and if the battery was completely drained, you will have to restore iOS using iTunes on your computer.

My hp laserjet pro 200 m251 won't print more than 1 file at a time. Any ideas?

    Hi @nocastaway,
I see by your post that you can't print multiple copies. I can help you with this.
From the application your printing from, go to File, Print, Number of copies select 2. Uncheck Collate. You can now change the number of copies. Collate should now stay unchecked.
Try printing the multiple page document again.
You might have to disable all the startup items, to see if there is another program causing this issue.
How to use MSCONFIG. Click on the Startup tab and disable all.
    Test the printer.
Then go back in and enable all from the Startup tab.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor if you are still having issues. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?

  • I just got an iPod touch, it was fine with battery life before I added Apps but now the battery doesn't last more than a night, what should I do?

I just got an ipod touch from my sister yesterday which she has had since October. The battery life went for days with her but as soon as I started checking my email and adding apps the battery doesn't last more than a couple of hours. I deleted some apps but no change. I also kept my email logged in and my notifications turned on so I'm wondering if they are part of the problem. Please let me know what I should do. Thank you so much.

Yes, notifications are part of the problem.  For more information look at at the previous posts on this problem.  Yu can find some of those on the right hand side of this page under the heading: More Like This.  I keep mine in airplane mode when asleep.

  • Battery won't recharge

battery won't charge; what to do?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • PB won't start more than once without PMU Reset

My son just got a hand-me-down G4 1.5Ghz 15" PowerBook at work. When he got it the battery would not hold a charge for more than about 5 minutes. We checked the serial number and it was part of the PowerBook battery recall so we requested a battery exchange from, Apple. The new battery arrived today and when he put it in, the PowerBook would not start up even on AC.
He reset the PMU and it seemed to be OK but when the computer went to sleep he could not wake it up. He uplugged it and took out the battery but it will not restart. Also, the charge indicator on the AC adapter turned green after about 15 minutes but the battery indicator in the menu bar still says 0%. He pushed the test button on the bottom of the battery but no lights come on so the battery can't be charged. Even putting the old battery back into the PB won't let it restart more than once without resetting the PMU.
While the old battery did not hold a charge at least the machine could be used and restarted without a PMU reset. Now it won't even do that.
Anyone see this behavior on another machine? Any suggestions on what is wrong or how to fix it?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    David

It appears that deleting the com.apple.Powermanagement.plist file has resolved the restart problem. In fact. it looks like the old battery may now be charging properly. I still can't get the machine to start using the replacement battery.

  • My 2009 iMac freezes and won't run more than one application at a time - how can I fix this?

Help! My iMac has been getting worse regarding freezing, especially when trying to open iPhoto. It will load slowly, and then I get the pinwheel of death for ever, until I shutdown and try over again. It usually takes several tries, and usually overnight. How can I resolve this issue?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    Step 1
This diagnostic procedure will query the log for messages that may indicate a system issue. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|timed? ?o' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
    Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
    Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
    Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • I bought a ipad mini online from the apple store. His battery doesn't last more than 6h. I return it back to them they send me a new one, but the problem is same. Battery doesn't last more than 5-6h!

I have purchased a iPad mini online from the Apple store. Since day one I had 2 issues with it. First is that the battery life doesn't last more than 5-6h active usage, and the second one is with the wi-fi. It works properly but after I leave it for a while in sleep mode and try to reuse it, it doesn't want to open a web page or app store or mail (anything connected with the internet search) but it shows that is properly connected with my home network. So I have to turn off the wi-fi connection and turn it on again so it start to work properly. After couple off days this becomed very annoying so I contacted the support via phone and they gave me instructions for return it and that I'll receive a new one without aditional fee. I get the second device in the predicted time but again I have the same issues with the wi-fi and battery life. I will be pleased if someone from the Apple expert team explaine to me what should I do, because I dont find it for normal what is happening. On the Apple official site under the specifications for iPad mini it says that the battery lasts for at least 10h and the wi-fi problem isn't mentioned anywhere. Thanks in advance.

This is a user to user forum. No one here is an employee or representative of Apple.
If you want someone from Apple to explain what you should do make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one near you and take your iPad there and talk to Apple. If no Apple store is close enough then call Apple to find out what your alternatives are. There is a Contact Info link at the bottom of every page in this forum.

  • Charger "plugged in, charging" but the battery won't go higher than 0%

    Hello there.
I have a HP dv6-2190us laptop which is I think 3 years old.
Yesterday I saw that it powered off and it didn't have any reaction when I pressed the power button on battery. When I plugged in my AC,  thinking this could be a battery error, I saw the charge light flash 11 times and then stay on .
With the AC plugged in it booted into Windows 7 and I saw that it says Plugged In, Charging... but it won't go higher than 0%.
When I  Unplug the AC it powers off suddenly as it doesn't have any battery remaining.
I checked the battery with the HP utility and it said OK and the battery is 29/300 cycles. So it's too soon for the battery to get damaged.
I've tried all the solutions ( Hard reset using power key, update bios, clear cmos, remove driver and install again, etc. ) but none of them helped me.
Do you guys have any ideas?
P.S.: I have replaced the battery 2 months ago and it's fairly new.

If you are still able to power the notebook with the power adapter and the battery removed, then the battery has problems.
Contact the seller for an RMA.
I hope  that you did replace the battery with one that was guaranteed compatible and with a one year warranty.
I have never had one fail that quickly.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Battery won't recharge: THub 2 tablet

The battery on my THub 2 tablet won't recharge. When I switch it on, I get the message: "Battery low, switching off" - and that's what it does. I guess I ignored the 'recharge now' message a little too long. Is there a fix? Thanks.

It's been on the stand overnight. When I switch it on, the lights come on for a few seconds, then the message: "Low battery, turning off", and it switches off before it's fully rebooted. I did as you suggested and plugged it direct into the mains, and waited 10 minutes - but same result. (Are you suggesting the battery recharges while the tablet is switched off? I would have thought not? To me, that's probably the problem - it won't stay on long enough, or reboot far enough, to start recharging.) Thanks for your reply.

  • Satellite L50 - Battery won't recharge even if it's working?

Hello, I will repost here a series of messages I sent to the european forum. So far I had no luck. Cheers!Max

    Hello there!
I am here because I don't know where else to look for an answer.
Yesterday I changed the hinges, plastic lid and frame of an L50. No problems at all.
I reset the motherboard disconnecting the battery and keeping the start button pressed for a minute or so.
The computer seemed fine. Then after a few hours I realized that even if the cord was connected and windows battery icon was saying, plugged in and charging, its level kept going down, now the icon says 0%.
I tried some solutions, like resetting the motherboard again, uninstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery but nothing worked. It still gave me 0%.
Even if the battery is less than 2 years old and worked perfectly fine till yesterday, I tried some testing:
    - I started the computer using the AC cord, no problem. I then removed the cord, the laptop turned off almost immediately
    - I started the computer using the AC cord, no problem. I disabled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
I removed the cord, the laptop did not turn off, it kept on working.
At this point, more than a matter of damaged battery, it looks like a matter of software??
Should I maybe leave the computer in charge for a day or so?
I read somewhere that when these batteries go below a certain threshold level they take forever to load.
But I think I should maybe do that operation keeping ACPI control disabled?
    Thank you!
    Max

  • XCode won't load more than one application at a time on my iTouch?

I got the latest SDK, installed the latest firmware, re-generated the provisioning profile. Really, everything works exactly as expected, and xCode installs my application normally, but if I, say, try to install two different sample projects, HelloWorld and TheElements, when I "Build and Go" the second application, it deletes the previous application as part of the installation procedure. That is, TheElements will be installed, and HelloWorld will be deleted.
This only happens on the device, not in the emulator, and happens with any application, not just these two. I just can't install more than one app on the device.
According to iTunes, there is plenty of room on the actual iTouch. Also, in Organizer, rather than a checkbox next to the Application, there is an "arrow". When I click the application, I see "Application Data".
What the ****? Is this normal for iTouch? Are only iPhone developers allowed to develop more than one application at a time?

you must create an application ID
(use program portal - App ID) and in provisioning make a profile with the new App ID, and use the
same profile in your 2 applications
In Xcode for your project , (2*click target) section properties, use different names as Identifier, and you can have
more than one of your applications installed on the phone. I use identifieres as
    dk.mochasoft.abc
    and
    dk.mochasoft.xyz
I think when you release the applications to App Store, you will need different Profiles for the applications. The Apple documentation is a little weak on this subject.
