Battery X, trouble powering up...I'm deep in the jungle, please help!

On Jan 14th I bought a new MacBook Pro 13" Retina from MicroCenter. I am traveling deep in the jungle in a remote part of Costa Rica and I started noticing that it wasn't holding a charge (at first I assumed it had just ran out and I didn't plug in the power cable properly). Yesterday I had to plug it in to power it up and I notice the battery has an "X" on it and says "No Batteries Available". I did a quick search online and decided to try a SMC reset so I shutdown the laptop, held Shift+Control+Option+Power, and tried to power it up but the computer would not turn on or do anything at all.
Next morning, comptuer was hot and fans were running high speed (it was not plugged into power overnight so it must have been accessing power somehow). Sometimes it powered up when clicking power button, sometimes nothing, sometimes the fans would start up. When it did power up, it wouldn't get past the grey screen before shutting down again. Then sometimes without even touching anything it would turn on again.
Been trying different keyboard startups but they don't seem to be working properly. Tried resetting PRAM with Command+Option+P+R but got nothing... holding down Option does nothing.... The only thing that turns the computer on is Command+R, but it only works if I release the buttons quickly...if I hold them down (trying to get it into Recovery mode) nothing happens. If I do manage to get it on, a few mins later it the window will pop up that say "are you sure you want to shut down?" but even if I click Cancle it shuts down, or just shuts down randomly.
Tried running Disk Utility and it can't complete Verifying Disk, it just instructs me to get into Recovery mode to repair disk which I haven't had any luck doing.
I have insurance through MicroCenter (same coverage as AppleCare + accidental) but I tried calling them and the Tech Support guy was useless... I have a lot of work I need to do here and would be happy enough if I could at least get it to work off of the power cable without the battery (even though that is tricky b/c we are running off of a generator so I would be limited to the hours that the generator is on) but I can't get anything done or do a proper Time Machine backup with it powering off randomly. There's no chance of getting to a Genius Bar or anything out here so you are my only hope! Please help me!!
Lauren

So this is not the computer that the device normally syncs with, iTunes is working exactly as designed.

These are usually the features of a faulty battery. Restore iPhone Firmware with iTunes 10.7 or 11 on computer. See if better. If not, and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution. If no Coverage, still make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick (minutes time) battery diagnostic testing.

• G5 powered off: can't get it on again - please help

Argh. Sitting here working productively and lights out on my G5 tower. Can anyone tell me what process I should take to start trouble shooting. It must be hardware. Let me tell you where it stands now:
1) I use industrial surge protectors, all lights are on there, all other pieces of hardware plugged in are working fine.
2) I reset the surge protector anyway, powered surge protector down and then up, swapped the socket I have my G5 plugged into just to be sure and just to check if it is anything external
3) nothing seemed to cause the shutdown and power down of the G5. no spark, no bad weather, no static etc.
Should I assume that I need to take it right away to be fixed at apple? Motherboard maybe? Any help would be greatly appreciated in what measures I can take. I need to move swiftly. Not worried about data, I have a time machine backup and a bootable backup on site, but I need to know what I should do to get the box up and running. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Hi iPhotoStuff 2-
First I would check and see if you are covered by this: Power Mac G5 Repair Extension Program for Power Supply Issues
It does sound power supply related. Do any LEDs do anything: About the Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) diagnostic LEDs

• My iPhone 3GS battery is draining much too quick I'm looking for solutions please help

How do you fix battery problem on an iPhone 3GS? Can I get a new battery?

Hi thanks for the tips but I have done most of them including deleting the multitasking bar daily. One of the problem I think is associated with the iCloud and the need to keep the wifi on pretty much at all time OR DO WE?
Not sure yet about iCloud and how to use it properly... Very little is said on how to integrate/sync my iPhone, iPad and my PC using iCloud.
Any advise on this would also be welcome.

• Trouble with my T1's and E1's in the lab - please help.... :-)

I'm working through my CCIE Voice/Collaboration training materials and am just about finished with the physical construction of the lab. At this time I'm just going to install a new T1 card into my BR1 router and I'm trying to get my T1 to HQ (HQ router) and my E1 to BR2 (Branch2 router) up and running. I am enclosing the "show run", "show isdn status" and "show e1/t1 controller" outputs. I am using a 2801 for my HQ router, a 2851 for my PSTN/IP-WAN router, and a 2811 for my BR2 router.
I am using a T1 cable RJ-48C/RJ-48C. I'm embarassed to say it - but I don't have a cable tester at the time. I lended my backup out to a friend and my primary one is not working. I'm also not 100% sure that I'm using the correct cable. I have VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 cards in my routers and I have a 2851 (PSTN router) setup to give connectivity via the T1's to HQ and BR1 and E1 connectivity to BR2. I have taken the liberty of attaching my configs, as mentioned I don't think I have cable issues because this is the case with all my cables.
Main issue, in the "show isdn stat" the layer 1 status is "deactivated" and when I do a shut/no shut the status goes to "shutdown" and doesn't come back up despite my efforts to enable the interface. The only way to fix it is to reboot the router. I've got to be missing something - I just want to get my T1's and E1 up for my CCIE Lab. I'm building my lab based on the CCIE Voice specification and have the ability to get it modified eventually to fit the CCIE Collaboration lab.
***PLEASE go easy on me - I'm sure there is a fundamental configuration item or concept I'm not thinking about so I'm preparing to look like a fool - but that's okay....it's part of learning. :-) ***
Any help would be so much appreciated. All configs are pasted below.......

I have went ahead and re-enabled the voice-ports just because I left that out of my original output. See below.....
Do you think I ordered 3 factory made T1 cables from BlackBox and ALL of them came back to me bad? Or perhaps they might not have made them as cross over cables......hmm...any other suggestions?

• I'm having troubles installing 10.6.3 on my Macbook Pro, PLEASE HELP

I'm getting the error that seems to happen to a lot of people: "(volume name)" can't be used because it doesn't use the GUID Partition Table scheme.
When I go to change the Volume Scheme in Disk Utility it's grayed out and says Current, and the Options button is also grayed out, so I can't touch either.
So I try to boot the machine using the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 disc by holding the "c" key during start-up (bong sound) and it spits the disc out and boots normally... is the SL disc not a boot disc as well? I don't care if i have to format the hard drive, I just want it to work with the newer operating system(s). I'm just worried I'll format my hard drive, go to boot with the disc, and it'll pop it out again.
Please help. I'm losing hours at work trying to get this thing updated to Mavericks via Snow Leopard

Do a backup before proceeding.
Try putting the 10.6.3 disk in the computer. During a restart, hold down the option/alt key, select the disk, and see if you can boot from there. If so, select the language, then go to the Utilities menu, and select Disk Utility. Check to see what partition scheme you have by selecting the hard drive.
If you don't have GUID, you are going to need to erase the drive and reformat, which will cause you to lose all your data. Did I mention doing a backup?
If you do have GUID, run Disk Utility repair disk and repair permissions. You may have to do this more than once. Then try in install 10.6.3.
If successful, use the combo update to get to 10.6.8 and then run Software update until there are no more updates.

• I'm having trouble using Firefox 4 with Tor Project software. Please help. Will there be an updated Tor Button add-on for Firefox 4.0 soon? If not, how can I get rid of 4.0 and go to an earlier, but stable Firefox version?

I'm trying to use Tor Project for anonymous browsing. I updated my Firefox to 4.0, but I can't get a Tor Button to download, because it isn't available for Firefox 4.o.
Will it be soon?
If not, how do I go back to an earlier, stable version of Firefox that supports Tor Button browsing?
Thanks much!

See if the "stable" version released on 30 June is compatible with Firefox 5.0. That page doesn't mention which versions of Firefox it is compatible with, a serious oversight, IMO.
https://www.torproject.org/torbutton/
Plus, it looks like that developer hasn't updated his AMO page in over a year, which makes it impossible for users of that add-on to get automatic updates as each new version of Firefox is released.
• Trouble processing file in iOS4 update, tried EVERYTHING! PLEASE HELP

I downloaded iTunes 10.5, I troubleshooted the problem and I've tried everything in the books. When I'm downloading the file, it goes for about 45 minutes without a problem, then when the update reaches the point of "processing file", a screen pops up that says "network connection timed out". Please help, this has been a problem for me for about 3 days now.

Thanks, Wolf. I did follow those instructions to the letter. However, it
didn't help a bit.
