Bazaar Album Artwork Issue

So I have a very strange album artwork issue with my iPhone 4. I've verified that the artwork is correct for the songs this is occurring with (each individual song, not the albums).
When I play certain songs (only certain ones) I get a mosaic of incorrect album artwork.
http://gallery.me.com/jsagurton#100012/Album%20Artwork&bgcolor=black
I've again verified that in iTunes the album artwork is correct, and even copied the correct album artwork file to my desktop and then changed the artwork for this particular song to the correct artwork and resynced the device, and the issue still happens.
The issue also happens in coverflow, if the song I'm playing has the weird album artwork. Once I scroll to another album though, the artwork goes back to the correct artwork in coverflow. Going back to the standard view brings back the incorrect artwork however.
What's even more bazaar about this, is the mosaic isn't always consistent. A bunch of songs do this, but have different album covers making up the mosaic, and I have nothing in iTunes with a mosaic of artwork like this.

I have the same problem and posted a request for help but no-one has replied with an answer. It annoys me greatly that APPLE will not assist and in fact want to charge me $29 to even look at the problem, when it is their buggy software that is at fault.
Looks like we are destined to be screwed by APPLE over this.

  • Weird iTunes 10.6.3 missing album artwork issue

I upgraded to iTunes 10.6.3 yesterday, and I had to restart my Mac for an unrelated issue. This afternoon, I noticed something really weird- all my "Documentary" movies that I purchased through iTunes Store have lost their artwork previews; meaning, if I click on "Movies" in the Library menu at left, then select the "Documentary" genre, and view the movies under "Grid" mode, none of the movies have any artwork along the left side next to the title. It has ONLY affected the "Documentary" movies, but none of my other genres. In fact, I created a separate sub-category for "Disney Documentaries", and those movies are missing the artwork in "Grid" view as well. If I view all Movies in "List" mode, all the movies have artwork EXCEPT the Documentaries.  Interestingly enough- if I select a Documentary movie and type "Cmd+I", then select the "Artwork" tab in the "Information" window. the artwork is still there, it just doesn't show in the "List" or "Grid" view.  How can I fix this? I am currently rebuilding the Spotlight Index, I've repaired permissions, and even done a verify/repair with Disk Utility, but nothing has worked so far. I've already checked the "Automatically Download Missing Album Artwork" under Preferences, but that didn't solve the problem either. The movies all play fine otherwise, but this little glitch is frustrating me. Please help!

I have this issue.  Album artwork was totally fine before.  After this update, it is all messed up and even got messed up when transferred to my iphone.
iTunes doesn't have the artwork anymore, but then iPhone has it but shows wrong artwork with wrong albums.
    Please fix!

  • ITunes 7.0.2 get Album Artwork issue

    Hello,
I use iTunes 7.0.2. I am putting all my cd's onto my new MBP and for some reason iTunes stopped finding Album Artwork for Albums it already found in iTunes 6 and 7.0.1 when I use the "get Album Artwork" function in "advanced".
I already looked at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304339 and tried it with this option enabled and disabled but none of it helped.
I also looked through 10 pages of the forum already with the search but did not find any help for my problem. so I hope you can help me.
    Thanks,
    Sebastian

I've just installed 7.0.2 and have the exact same issue. I just imported several CD's and iTunes refuses to find the album art. I've confirmed the ablums exist in the iTunes Store.

  • Album Artwork Issue

Just got the Beatles box set, everything's tagged correctly (obviously, it's from the iTunes Store itself), and yet, some of the albums in the set won't load their artwork. At random, some have the artwork, some don't. To reiterate, I've double-checked all the tags, and they match perfectly with iTunes, but when I right-click and select 'Get Album Artwork' nothing shows up! I've even tried restarting iTunes, restarting my Mac, etc... to clear any caches or whatever might be holding this up. The problem persists. I've tried dragging 'manual album art' from Amazon, etc..., then deleting that, and getting the album artwork from iTunes again, yet the same problem: no artwork is ever downloaded for these specific "diseased" albums. Someone please help! Thank you.

Nevermind. After a few days and repeatedly trying this again, it seems to work. I now have all the proper album artwork downloaded from iTunes. I suppose this was just a server issue on Apple's end. The servers might have been too overloaded when I first got the albums the day of release. It works now.

  • I NEED HELP! IPOD AND ALBUM ARTWORK ISSUES

I can use the music store and surf the internet fine. BUT, I try to use the ministore and with the new itunes, update mmy ipod and download album artowrk, it says itunes cannot connect, please make sure my connection is active. I tried the network diagnostics and it said network failed, but in the report, it says it connected to the music store. I dont understand, this shouldnt be because I can use the music store no problem. What is odd is on my other accounts on the computer, this issue doesnt exist. I dont recall changing any settings. Can someone help please?

You can get album artwork from various other sources as well as Amazon. You can even locate artwork using Google image search by using the artist or album name. I find this site is a good source of artwork: CD/Album Cover Art Search from SlothRadio.
Locate the album from any of those sources, right click on the image and save it to the desktop, once it's there drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Once you've added the artwork you can either delete the original file or keep it in a folder somewhere in case you need to use it again. Alternatively there are programs like these that help locate artwork: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag

  • IPod Touch album artwork issues

    Hi all,
I recently changed a whole album's artwork to something different. I selected all the songs under Devices>ipod Touch>Music and did a multiple edit with the new artwork. After the sync, only certain ones changed. I then went into each individual playlist and changed them (using the multiple edit again). Still, only a few are changed. I've done multiple sync's to make sure it didn't stop in the middle of the sync as well. Any ideas?

Amazon is a good source of (good quality) album artwork. Songs though, well that's illegal, If you get my drift.. Hope you've got hard copies.
    Regards,
    Peter.

  • Advanced Album Artwork issues

Is it possible to add ADDITIONAL artwork to MULTIPLE files? I see how to add an additional cover etc to a single file, but i cannot seem to get it to work with more than one at once, as it overwrites the previous artwork on all files.
For a single song, this is done by opening the songs info, and clicking the add button (which is slow and requires browsing to the image). If you try to just drag the file into the window, it overwrites whatever image is already in there. Is this supposed to happen? Furthermore, on some songs, regardless of which method i use, and regardless of if i have the previous picture selected or de-selected, it overwrites it. How can i notify apple of this? I found a contact customer service button but all of its subjects are related to other things. Am i doing something wrong?

    {quote}Is it possible to add ADDITIONAL artwork to MULTIPLE files?{quote}
Yes. Instead of doing "Get info" on the songs, do this:
    1. From the "View" menu, select "Show Artwork"
    2. If the text above the artwork window reads "Now Playing", click the text once to change it to "Selected Item"
    3. Select all the tracks you want to add artwork to.
    4. Drag the picture into the artwork window. This artwork will be added; it won't overwrite existing artwork.
    {quote}also, another question that just came up. i realized that artwork automatically downloaded by iTunes from the store is NOT embedded into the song file's tag. Since this is the case, where are the downloaded covers stored on the computer?{quote}
You are correct -- it is not embedded in the tag. I suppose they did this to save space, because typically you only need one copy of the artwork on your hard drive for a whole album.
The artwork is stored in your iTunes Music folder (by default it is My Documents\My Music\iTunes) in the "Album Artwork" folder. However, these are stored in an proprietary format. Some image viewers will open the files, but not all.
You can save the image to a file by simply dragging the artwork from the artwork window to any Windows Explorer window (including the Desktop).
For multiple files, you can use a java program jpegextractor to extract the images
    http://schmidt.devlib.org/software/jpeg-extractor.html
Or if you can program, you can use the iTunes COM interface to save the artwork to a file.
    EDIT:
If you want to embed the iTMS artwork into the ID3 tag, you can use a program I wrote to do it. Go here:
    http://home.comcast.net/~teridon73/itunesscripts/index.html
and click the download button. Extract the ZIP (teridonsitunesscripts.zip) somewhere, and run "teridonsitunesscripts.exe".
In the window that appears, select "itunesinsertartwork" and click "Run Selected Script".
A new cmd prompt window will appear, listing all your playlists. Select the Library playlist by typing "1" (or, if for some reason you only want to do some tracks, choose another playlist) and hit enter. The program will automatically embed iTMS artwork into the ID3 tag.
The forum TOS requires me to say: "I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link" because I have a paypal donation link on my webpage, but the program is free (donation totally optional)

  • Itunes 10.4.1 album artwork issues.

When I click get info and paste in album artwork from cds that I have imported, it shows up in the box, but when I click OK nothing happens! Help me fix this!
This always happens with all my cds, when I get info in the library it doesn't work, but when I get info from my ipad the 'artwork' box is greyed out!!

The 10.5 series of updates has ganked artwork for me as well. In fact, on a few occasions attempts to add artwork have resulted in the corruption of the music track itself. I dragged/dropped artwork, artwork box on interface turned black and track was destroyed even though it still appeared to be there (i.e. not a "dead" track). Clicking on it would result in a short static blip and then it would go to the next track and do the same on down the line to each track I'd attempted to add art to.
Also, iTunes now randomly decides when, and when not to show artwork that is visible when you check Get Info > Artwork. Sometimes you see it in the interface, sometimes you don't. Finally, the excellent "embed artwork" script described above no longer works - returns a "parameter error."
Situation is the same on both my (brand new) iMac and my MBP which have totally separate/different libraries, so it's gotta be the updates. Hopefully they'll catch up with it. If anybody has any info on what else might be happening here (i.e. do scripts become outdated?) I'd love to hear your thoughts.

  • ITune Album Artwork issue - There are more than one for a song

    Hi,
I've done this before....having a couple of artwork for one song. It was back when I used iTune 3 or so. Now that I'm using iTune 7. I can't seem to find a way to add more than one artwork to a song. I tried the iTune's help, which says I can just drag another artwork into the song's artwork box. But, that would replace the artwork I had earlier.
Anyone knows a way to add more than one artwork to a song? I'm using 10.4.9 if that helps.
    Thanks,
    DFguy.

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the advice. I tried both in file info and the artwork box (while playing the file) and they both work. I sware to god that they both did NOT work before. That's why I had to post this stupid questions. I don't know why it didn't work before. Maybe because I selected the artwork that's already there? Anyway, now that this issue is solved, I'm very happy!
    Thanks again,
    DFguy.

  • IPod has album art issues

I'm pretty sure this is a top problem amongst iPod users. I've been trying to find a solution, but so far no good.
My iPod has had some album artwork issues lately. This problem doesn't affect a majority of my songs, but it's a really annoying problem. Despite me adding correct covers for each song on iTunes, the artwork for certain songs don't appear like they do on iTunes. They get switched with other covers from other songs on my iPod, get switched with screenshots from my iPod videos, and sometimes don't appear at all. This is despite the fact that they appear perfectly fine on iTunes.
Case 1: Album covers get switched with other album covers. In one case, the album art used for a Jason Mraz song was the album art for an Owl City song that was also on my iPod.
Case 2: For some songs, screenshots from my iPod videos appear as album art. I've got a screenshot from a Futurama episode where my Rihanna album cover should be.
Case 3: For some songs, nothing appears at all except the standard musical note icon, despite me having added covers to these songs on iTunes.
Case 4: Likewise, for some of my videos, album art from my songs appear for icons, instead of a selected screenshot from the video, which is usually what appears. In fact, the album art that does appear is the art from songs where Case 3 applies.
This is a really irritating problem that I'd like to see get fixed. The most commonly cited solution to this problem, restoring the iPod, didn't permanently work for me. Please help!

  • IPod displaying wrong album artwork; connectivity issues

I have an iPod Classic 80GB, model #A1238. It's a little over 2 years old. I use it on a PC with Windows Vista. And I am currently using the latest version of iTunes.
My iPod is pretty much at full capacity (music only!)-- if I want to add something, I have to delete something else. Lately, a lot of the new music I add displays the wrong album artwork in my iPod (even though everything's correct in iTunes). Usually, the recently added songs/files displays the artwork of another recently added album... but now, my recently added albums are displaying artwork for other, "older" and random albums in my iPod library! It's driving me crazy since my iPod is so neatly organized!
I have a feeling it has something to do with syncing? For the past year or so, I have had issues connecting my iPod to my computer. From time to time I get one of those "this device can perform faster" messages. That sometimes leads to other error messages about not being able to eject my iPod b/c the "device is in use," or I get an excessively long period of syncing or "verifying" my iPod. When those things happen & I'm stuck in a certain process, I typically try manually ejecting the iPod... and when that doesn't work, I restart my iPod.
In fact, I've been restarting my iPod a lot these days. I try to restart it every time I'm about to plug it into my computer to remove/add new music (I figure it might not have issues with wrong album art if it gets kind of a "fresh start!"... and that only works some of the time).
So what do you think the problem is with the album artwork?!? It seems so trivial, but it really drives me crazy-- I really love looking at the artwork, as silly as that may sound! I've heard that I might have to restore my iPod back to factory settings, but I'm REALLY hesitant to do that-- I have about 16,000 songs on my iPod & to get them back, I'd have to re-import my many, many CDs! It will probably take days! I'm also afraid I might start having the same old issues if I start getting those error messages about the device performing faster (I feel like all my little complications arose from those issues).
Some things to keep in mind: If it's not clear already, I manually manage my iPod's music library-- I don't sync entire libraries or playlists or anything. And most of my album artwork is downloaded automatically when I import CDs or purchase music from iTunes. Once in a while I manually add the album artwork (like, I find the album art from the Internet, copy it, right click my song files on iTunes, select "get info" & manually paste the image in the artwork box). That sometimes helps, but those files can still sometimes display incorrectly in my iPod, ditto song files purchased from iTunes (though more often than not, I don't have issues with those files' artwork).
Lastly, is it bad for me to be repeatedly restarting my iPod?
Any help would be much appreciated!! (And be forewarned: I am NOT too tech-savvy!)

The only way to get things resolved will be to restore your iPod. Since, as you imply, you've been manually managing your iPod and not keeping copies of your media on your local hard drive, you will need to recover the content from your iPod before you restore. There are plenty of threads here detailing just how to do that. If you haven't got the space then you will need to start, I guess, by buying an external drive big enough to hold all your media in one go.
Your iPod shouldn't need resetting on a regular basis. For myself I found that when I had a large number of playlists on the iPod (basically everything in my library at the time) it was more likely to freeze when playing games or even moving around the menus so I cut down the number and complexity of those I put on the device which seemed to fix things.

  • Album Artwork Drag and Drop issue

    Good morning all,
After struggling with this last evening for some time I have decided it's time to ask the pros.
In iTunes I used to be able to drag and drop album artwork. So, for instance, I would just go and google the album image I was looking for and then take that jpg and drop it in to whichever album is missing that particular cover on the main album screen.
What seems to be happening now though is that iTunes thinks every jpg I try to drag over is actually a podcast and it takes that album cover and places it under "Podcasts"
I know I could just go into the album properties and add the album art that way but this was just so much simpler.
Any thoughts? Writing this in a hurry as well so please let me know if I need to be more specific.
    Thanks
    Chu

That does not exist - the workaround (maybe permanent solution - who knows) is
    File menu ==> export
And BTW if you are not backingup all the time you are 100% guarenteed to lose all of your files and photos sooner or later

  • Bootcamp iTunes Issues (Album Artwork)

    Hey folks!
I have recently setup Windows XP as a second partition on my computer. I've been using iTunes for quite some time now, and have all my Music as well as my iTunes Library (database) file stored in my /Users/username/iTunes directory in OS X.
There are songs which I have in my iTunes library (viewing through OS X) that have album artwork. To obtain these files, I selected all of them, right-clicked and selected "Get Album Artwork". A couple seconds later I see all the artwork - great!
So I switch over to my Windows XP partition and use MacDrive to read my HFS partition (The installation location for Mac OS X, and also houses my iTunes library and songs as mentioned above). I press Shift while launching iTunes and manually select the iTunes library on the other partition (so I can use the same library either on Windows or OS X). It takes a few moments saying "Updating iTunes Library" (or something to this effect). After it finishes, all appears well. All songs seem to be accounted for, and everything seems the same as when I used iTunes in Mac OS X - except Album Artwork.
Excluding songs which have album artwork embeded in them (IE iTunes store purchases), all the songs which I have right-clicked and selected "Get album artwork" in the past have lost their album artwork. Whenever I switch between Mac OS X and Windows when launching iTunes, all these songs loose their album artwork.
In other words, say I was in iTunes (Windows) and selected Weezer's album "Pinkerton". This album does not currently have any album artwork. I right click all it's songs and select "Get Album Artwork". Bam! I see all the album artwork. Now, I restart my Mac and go into Mac OS X. When I open iTunes, I will briefly see the "Updating iTunes Library" and it will finish. When I select the "Pinkerton" album, there is no artwork associated with it. This also happens the other way around (Adding artwork in OS X and launching iTunes in windows - album artwork is not there).
This is driving me absolutely mad!
I feel I am so close, but yet so far. I can confirm that the "Album Artwork" folder is still in the same directory as the iTunes Music Library (database) file, regardless of the operating system I am using. Also, this folder's size never seems to change. I don't know what's causing this, but each time I switch from Mac OS X to Windows either OS resets this information.
Any suggestions? Help would be oh-so-much appreciated
    Cheers,
    Evan
