  • Z10 Crashes - How Do I Fix?

This is my first time using the blackberry forum so I appologize if this topic is already posted and just don't know how to locate the answer.
A month or two ago my Z10 auto-updated to the 10.3.1.1779 update and now my phone works like junk.
It crashed any time I open any social media app, any type of game, and when I try to use the Maps GPS. It crashes 75% of the time when I try to use the browser to do a search as well.
It no longer allows me to properly answer a phone call so I Always miss phone calls. When I try to slide to answer button. It just keeps ringing or vibrating and doesn't actually answer the call. The screen goes black and eventually it just goes to voice mail.
Every time something crashes. The phone freezes for about 5 minutes. Even if I take the battery out the phone is still frozen!
This NEVER happened before this most recent update. I have deleted more than 50% of my apps to"clear up space" but the device is still so full of memory from the update that (when my GPS does work) it tells me it can't work efficiently because my memory is too full.
Does anyone know of or have suggestions on how this can be fixed without doing the following :
    * Without restoring it to factory settings
    * without taking it to Rogers to have them 'ship it out' for repairs.
I have a lot of important info on this phone and can't afford to lose it or be without it.
Thanks for the time and your help!

Thanks for that help. It's unfortunate that when you spend hundreds of dollars on a phone you have to do manual things to repair it when updates should be improving your phones operations and not deteriorating them. I'm not a techy and have a hard time with that kind of stuff, the best solution sounds like it's time to finally kick blackberry to the curb and get on someone else's train.

  • System Restore (nothing to lose)

    quick history
cannot connect to computer as link software loaded by rim support was corrupted and i was advised never to use it again.
Q10 corrupted with 1565 OS update and cannot be used for life saving job in hospital as cant hear ringtone and meeting callender ringtone only 2 seconds.
bought passport to keep me going. sim from Q10 is now in passport.
a few weeks ago OS 1779 updated on Q10 without having sim inserted. for some this is meant to have slightly fixed the ringtone but no change what so ever for me.
    question:
if i do a security wipe using wifi and no sim inserted should it auto reload a clean 1779 and hopefully work even though there have been reports that a later version has been pushed out.
i know vodafone UK has not released anything newer than 1779  as my passport is still getting messages twice a day asking me to load 1779 and hell will freeze over before i do that on my new phone.
    thanks

I would recommend performing a security wipe on your BlackBerry Q10, followed by running an autoloader for one of the newer releases of BlackBerry OS 10.3.1. I have had a lot of success (no issues to report) with SR 10.3.1.1865 (OS 10.3.1.2708) or SR 10.3.1.1877 (OS 10.3.1.2726) on both my BlackBerry Classic and my girlfriend's BlackBerry Q5 with either of these software releases, and they fix the low notification volume issue that was present in earlier software releases for the Q-series and Z-series devices.
Below are the direct links for the autoloaders that you can use with your BlackBerry Q10:
    Software Release 10.3.1.1865 (OS 10.3.1.2708)
    Software Release 10.3.1.1877 (OS 10.3.1.2726)
I hope this helps, and have a great day.

  • ORA-1779 when updating a view

Hi and thanks in advance !
i am facing a critical situation.
i have two schema & both are same!
the problem which i am facing is during updating a view of one i am facing above error while the same DML is issuing againt that view in other schema and that works fine.
    what's the reason..
The major difference between two schema's is i hav different live and test database i migrate my access database to Oracle test database # 1.here i created a new user name deals . ok
i hav done same migration in my another database but a little difference here user deals is already available here and tables and views are also available i drop all the object but forget to purge recyclebin. now whenever i try to issue DML at this schema i am facing above error while the same tables same data and same view is available in above databae where my update statement executed properly. one more thing i like to add here i hav some unwanted trigger 'BIN$##$$%##$# bla bla bla' on different table. i haven't created that .
here is the view for your kind perusal
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW QRYREUTER AS
    SELECT FXdeals.deal_no,
    cparty.name,
    cparty.city,
    FXdeals.brokbill,
    FXdeals.deal_date,
    FXdeals.mode_id
    FROM FXDeals
    JOIN cparty
    ON FXdeals.cpcode = cparty.cpcode
    WHERE ( ( (FXdeals.mode_id) = 3 ) )

but i have sample scenario in other schema which replica of this schema so why i haven't got this error there
one more interesting thing when i query select * from user_updateable_columns where table name ='ABC' in Schema # 1 it return i can modify some columns.
but when issue the data dictionary view in schema # 2, where i was facing ORA-1779 , select * from user_updateable_columns where table name ='ABC' in Schema # 2 it return i can not modify any columns.
Tables name are same in both schema.
    Data same in both schema.
    Constraint Same in both schema.
    Indexes same in both schema.
why facing error in one schema not in other.
one more interesting thing, i had faced questionable object error when importing DMP into schema # 2.

  • I have a problem my blackberry z10 after update os version 10.3.1.1779

I have a problem After update os version 10.2 to 10.3.1.1779  in my BlackBerry z10 .I lost my whole data after phone switch off  and all setting are reset. Please anyone help me to resolve this issue.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:Article ID: KB36747 All data is deleted following a manual restart of the BlackBerry 10 smartphone and a blue LED is displayed during boot upHopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you. If it does not apply, then the next recommended action is for you to do an OS reload via LINK.
Good luck and let us know!

  • ORA-1779 during update on Tabular Form

    Hi,
I have a view I created based on 4 tables. I have one table with a primary key which will be updated. All information is displayed on the form correctly. When I try to update 1 field it gives me a ora-1779 error which is related to a key preserved table issue.
Why is this doing this and what can I do to resolve it ? I read something about doing an instead of update trigger. Is that what I really want to do ? I am thinking there should be an easier way to fix this.
Thank you in advance for your time,

  • Update 10.3.1.1779

I have found one notification regarding an update to 10.3.1.1779. my question is what is new in this update and is it really necessary in my Q5. is it safe to down over wifi to my phone. I am using Indian version of BB Q5. Pls repry soon.

    Hi,
I've had my Q5 for almost 2 years now.  Really loved it and how it worked, until today!!!, when I decided to update with 10.3.  It's awful, don't do it!!!  I've been scouring the internet for any tech support I can find about getting the old 10.2 back and have come across nothing.  Though, I did read that it is possible to download the 10.2 for the Q10, read that in a forum found under new posts.  I'd do my research before updating.  I've read many problems with the update, such as sluggish response, and battery life (both of these things have happened to my wonderful Q5 after me deciding to do the update - example: my phone would hold a charge for 2-4 days depending on usage, it was at 100% charge and 9.5hrs later, my battery is down to 30% (just checked it now)).  Avoid the update and read more posts to make a solid decision.

  • Update 10.3.1.1779 - Keeps Downloading

Just changed to a Blackberry Classic and updated to the latest version of software one of which was 10.3.1.1779. I downloaded the update and restarted. Since then I have constant requests to download and install the same update. Not sure if this is a software issue or Im being stupid. Very annoying. Any ideas? Tom

Hi and Welcome to the Community! It sounds like something did not go right with the automatic update...the recommended resolution is to perform a full official OS reload. Refer:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-Functions-and/How-to-Reload-your-Blackberry10-OS/td-p/2187545#nobannerAlso, do note that OS is widely reported to have many many issues, and BB has released several since then to resolve such issues. But, as has always been, your carrier controls the release of new OS levels to you...BB releases to the carriers all at the same time, but some carriers are slower than others to then release to their end users. Fortunately, there are clever users who have created unofficial methods by which you can bypass those carrier controls:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using-Autoloader/td-p/2466747#nobannerhttp://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/Do note however, that the OS value you cited will be useless in that unofficial process. The number you cited is the "Software Release", which is completely different from the true OS value. Refer:Article ID: KB23393 How to find the model number and OS version on a BlackBerry smartphoneAll of the discussions are archives are sorted by the true OS level; the Software Release level is completely irrelevant to the discussion and process. Good luck!

  • After updating OS 10.3.1.1779, my BlackBerry Classic is heating up like crazy.

Phone heating and draining of battery.

    Hello,
First...10.3.1.1779 is not an OS version...it is Software Release, which is a derived value based on the combination of the OS version and Radio version. The true OS version is much more useful for everyone to evaluate your issues and render useful guidance.
Second...how did you perform the update? There are plenty of reports about folks using the carrier-controlled automatic methods and resulting with a variety of issues. Usually, a clean reload (I recommend AutoLoader) clears things up (or at least allows one to fall back to their OS version of choice).
Further, I think that SR refers to and OS version that is not the most recent. I believe that BB has released at least two more since that one...but, of course, the carriers remain in control of their release to their end users, and some carriers are not as quick as others. But, again, an AutoLoader would allow you to move to something even more recent if you desire.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Unable to restart after software update 10.3.1.1779

I am unable to get  my Z10 to restart after this update.
I have searched endless avenues and have now resorted to deleteing the notifcations for this update when they come in, I have downloaded and installed it, but when asked to restart, my phone stalls on the loading screen forever, the longest I have waited for it to restart is 3 days, with 24 hours of that on 99%.
I am now the but of all phone related jokes as everyone I know has an IPHONE that works perfectly, but I insist on keeping this awful Z10 becuse I dont want to join their rank....too tink I spent £500 on this when it came out (more fool me)
It would seem that the general consensus is, I will have to go to the inconveience of taking my Z10 in to a phone shop, were they will send it off to BB for the update to be installed.
PS; Blacberry's forum is as hard to navigate as the phone is to actually get working proberly.

This has been the worst software update I have ever encountered. My Q10 is completely unreliable and I am going to switch to another device in the morning. I have restored factory settings and have successfully wiped the app to sync my shared Google Calendars, the z and y keys have swapped on my keypad and the Q10 still turns itself off arbitrarily, wipes all text and phone messages and can't recall what network I'm on or what my home wifi settings are.

  • Cannot send or recieve text messages through Ford Sync system since latest O.S. update 10.3.1.1779

My Blackberry Classic easily connected to my Lincoln's Sync system. I was able to receive and send text messages through the Sync. Since the latest O.S. update, I can no longer connect sms services through Sync.
Should I restore to previous O.S.?

Yes my particular issue is not like yours. However, there have been many other laptop users experiencing similar problem to yours after 3.10 kernel. Mostly it seems to be bumblebee users that experience your problem with the blank screen. We do know that nvidia have yet to make their official drivers work with kernel 3.10 and up. The drivers in the Arch repository have been patched to work with 3.10. From what I have seen, this also only seem to be affecting laptops with newer nvidia gpu's. I fear there is not much to do with this problem until nvidia give official 3.10 kernel support.
My suggestion would be to stick with 3.9.9 kernel and the drivers that work with it, and don't upgrade those packages until nvidia has addressed these issues. If you have a look at the nvidia forums you will see quite a number of topics mentioning black screen when starting x on 3.10 kernel, and also a thread for the system dying. Reading some of the threads there may help you keep up to date on whether or not the issue seem to be solved.

  • Wifi problems after updating to OS 10.3.1.1779

    Hello,
after updating my BlackBerry Q10 I have problems with my wifi connection. While surfing on the internet it switches off several times. But theres no problem with my wifi router itself, because the connection with my laptop is ok. Did someone else have that problem?
And/or is there a possibility to "delete" the update and go back to the old version?
    Thank you for your help.

You really need to update to the latest OS 10.3.2.Subject to carrier approvals, BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1 is rolling out to customers around the world. As soon as your carrier approves the release you’ll be able to upgrade OTA, via blackberry.com/update or by using BlackBerry Link.
Meanwhile, on your WiFi router, reboot it. Disconnect BOTH the power and the internet input cable for a minute and reconnect both and after a minute and wifi is broadcasting again, reconnect and see how it goes.

  • Heavy battery drain after OS Update 10.3.1.1779

couple of days ago my phone (Z10) upgraded to new software version 10.3.1.1779. Now the battery barely lasts four to five hours. Usually not more than four. Is this a f****ng joke, Blackberry?!  I checked and I constantly have PIM services at 30-40 %, which is the main battery drainer. Following the suggestions on some of the forums I tried deleting accounts and found one that - being deleted - solves the problem. However, when I add it again it drains the battery again. The point is that i MUST have it on. this is mail only, no calendars, contacts. When I add it I left the phone overnight to download all it needed, 12 hours later PIM services still run at 30-40% all the time. Reloading the software does not help either.  pls help, I am running out the ideas... I can't keep my phone connected to charger at all times...

After any OS upgrade on a BB10 device, it will take 48-72 hours for the device data syncing of email, contacts, social apps, etc., to complete and finish. High data transfer after an upgrade cause high processor use, which in turn causes high battery usage. Likewise, high processor use will cause some lag and initial slowness. Ignore and and be patient. It can take the 48 hours for all contacts to sync back to the device. And, the battery will recover after a few days. Just don't drain your battery to 10% or less each time, top off the charge. You'll notice a difference after a couple days. Additionally, look at your Device Manager and in the top pull down menu tap LAST 24 HOURSTap the Battery tab at bottom. What are the top 3-4 processes draining the battery?Tap the CPU tab, what are the top 3-4 processes using the CPU?
