BB 8110 Rebooting on it's own

OK, not at all happy with the purchase of my 8110. I originaly purchased approx. 6 months ago. Phone consistantly shut off and would not turn back on until the battery was pulled and replaced. I "wiped" as suggested and reloaded the OS. Same issue.... This would only happen every now and then intitialy but progressivly got worse. I called my carrier and they repalced the phone under warranty.
Pearl #2 arrives..... After 2 days of ownership, my phone now reboots it's self 2-3 times a hour. FED UP! I wiped the new phone and reloaded OS. Same issue..... Can someone please help before I spend $300 on a iPhone that works?
Thanks, Matt R.

My phone does the same thing - sometimes up to 12 times a day at random times.  Can this be fixed with out replacing it?

  • Satellite A135 laptop reboots on it's own following normal shutdown

My Satellite A-135 has begin rebooting on it's own after a normal shutdown. Running Vista with 1 GB ram, use Firefox 3.6 browser and all programs, Windows updates, anti virus, anti malware, etc. are kept up to date. I routinely run anti malware and Avira anti virus scans and keep my registry and temp files, etc. clean with CC Cleaner. Use File Hippo and CNET Techtracker to keep aware of new software updates. Also use Win Patrol to monitor what programs and processes are running so I don't think I have a malware or virus problem.  haven't added any hardware or software recently. Laptop sits on a cooling fan pad so overheating is not a problem. I can turn it off by removing the battery or by pushing the 'off' button (off button results in a safe mode screen the next time I turn the computer on). Other than this new, aggravating problem the computer runs perfectly. I bought this laptop new a few years ago and am the only user.  It has not been dropped or otherwise abused so I'm at at loss as how this happened...unless it's some kind of hardware failure.  I haven't done a system restore to see if that helps and will await some expert opinions before doing anything. Any good solution from someone who's solved the same problem will be greatly appreciated.

You might want to try a power reset and setting the defaults in the BIOS.
Turn off computer. Unplug AC adapter and remove the battery. Press and hold
down the power button for 30 seconds.
Put battery back in, Plug Charger back in.
Power on the computer and hold down F2 to enter the BIOS. Load BIOS defaults by
pressing F9 then F10 to save changes.

  • My Ipad keeps rebooting itself on its own

My Ipad 3 just started rebooting itself on its own.  I had the computer powered off and locked and then turned it on.  It came on and then within 30 seconds shut itself down, only to reboot itself without me touching it.  I am using 7.1.1, I am using AT &T as the carrier.
I have tried to reboot it holding down the on/off button and the home button at the same time as someone suggested that.

I Must be missing the significance of the computer is this discussion.

  • 8110 reboots halfway through the App Loader's OS restore

My 2-year-old 8110 has still got a PIN, can be seen from the Desktop Manager and AppLoader, and can even start receiving the OS restore...however, at random points during the upload, it reboots itself and so the AppLoader can't complete its final task. This leaves the device is some half-way status where nothing really works.
The rebooting at times happens immediately at the beginning of the OS restore, at other times later on, with the "record" being around 75% of the way.
I have tried all the hints, tips and tricks I could find: timed the AppLoader's start with the red light on the device, tried the restore with and without the battery and/or the SIM card, reinstalled the whole software on the PC from scratch after cleaning also the registry, used the Java device wiping application, the works.
Still, there is something (??) in the 8110 that is forcing it to reboot at random even if there is little of the OS inside (error 507). If anybody could point to any way to clear that issue at least, that'd be truly great!!
ps right now, the device is returning a JVM error 102 and a reset button that simply brings back to a JVM error 102

    Hello mauriziomorabito,
Have you had a chance to try this process with another computer?  Sometimes the issue can be the USB port on the computer or possibly the cable itself.

  • 8110 reboots when being used

My pearl simply put reboots by itself when either making a call,  sending a text or just simply scrolling through the menu....... I live in the Bahamas....so if anyone can help it will be much appreciated...
    Thanks.

I've encountered similar problem in my region with 8700 and 8100. For all the cases my carrier replaced the device on their own cost. No resolution is received from RIM. I even tried with upgrading the OS, deleting the OS completely and reloading  them on the device again. Nothing worked!!!

  • ActionTec router reboots on it's own?

I originally posted this on Aug 4, but it seems that a whole bunch of posts from that day were lost in the maintenance that night so here goes again!  My MI424WR Rev I router several times a day just shuts down and reboots.  When it's finished rebooting everything is just fine.  I noticed it when I was streaming radio on computer and it would just shut off.  I looked at the router and saw that it was off, and then started going through it's booting...red power light, then green along with the rest of the green lights.  Since my original post I called Verizon and explained what was happening.  I went through all the reboots and shut downs that you can do with the equipment...rebooting the ONT, powering down the router, etc.  Still happening at what seems like totally random times.  They sent me a new router and I hooked it up today and so far I did have one reboot.  Any suggestions as to what I should look at here?  I like to troubleshoot and get things right before I call tech support. I'll have to keep watching and see if there is any pattern to these reboots.  Maybe today's reboot was just a fluke?  Have FIOS here for quite a few years and it's been trouble free up until now.  The problem does not seem to affect neither the TV nor the digital voice service.  BTW, my main connections to the router are Ethernet connections.

Very similar symptoms.  here's my commiseration. I'm undecided as to how to proceed.
I had a Rev F router that a very friendly, competent Vz tech left for me after a visit for an unrelated problem.  It's worked fine for several (2+) years.  A  few months ago I had a day filled with FiOS internet access problems.  Phone was fine.  TV was ok, except no VOD on any of the STBs. After powering down everything in the house  from the ONT (removed the battery too!) to the router, STBs, and PCs multiple times and restarting from the outside inward, I gave up and called Vz support.  The (exceptionally clueless?) tech put me through the usual power down/up drill again twice and then declared my router needed replacement.  C'est la vie.  While I disagreed, I knew arguing was senseless.  She put in the order for a replacement to be shipped.  That was a Thursday night. I was told it wouldn't arrive until Monday or Tuesday because of the weekend.  Since I work at home 3 days a week (M-W-F,  lucky me) it would mean making an hour drive into my office(unlucky me) until it arrived.  Friday morning before heading out, I crossed my fingers and tried connecting.  It worked (again, lucky me.)  No problems resurfaced that day, or through the weekend - even VOD came back.   When the replacement router arrived Tuesday, it was a new Rev I.  While happy, I was reluctant to install it and lived with the old one for another week.  I gave in and swapped them, sending back the old one.
As I mentioned, I work from home 3 days a week. I  follow the same "work from home" routine on those mornings. 1) reboot my ethernet-wired PC; 2) go get my coffee in the kitchen and let the dog out; 3) about 10 minutes later I start my VPN; 4) I start a Remote Desktop session to my office machine.  Up to here, that's been the same for years and aside form that one terrible day, there's been no problem worth mentioning.   After connecting the Rev. I all was good as well.  However, for the last 2 weeks, when I go through that routine and reach #4,  to start the Remote Desktop session, the  Rev I spontaneously reboots; just a red light, and then the green lights start and begin to flicker on/off during rediscovery & recognition on the Vz network.  While that progresses, I close the not-connected RDP start-up window, and terminate the VPN which is stuck trying to "reconnect".  I wait until full internet access is restored.  Then I start the VPN.  I start the RDP.  All is good.  If I happen to shut down the RD & VPN during the day, and then restart a connection to work, it connects fine without the router reboot happening.  But the next time I try a "morning" attempt 2 or 3 days later, it goes through the same problematic reboot-upon-RD scenario.
While most Vz techs I've dealt with are very good, I live in fear of getting another clueless tech and figure the "devil I know is better than the one I don't".  But reading this poster's problem is making me think it isn't "just me".  I'm interested in hearing if others are having similar issues.

  • MacBook Pro Rebooting on it's own

Good Morning All. I have a first generation MacBook Pro 1.87ghz dual core. I have recently had my ram upgraded to 2gb and installed Leopard. I have done all the updates and the ram was installed by an authorized service provider. My MBP is just automatically rebooting itself usually, but not always under higher ram loads eg. using skype or encoding a DVD using handbrake. I did a clean install of Leopard using a bootable backup from my firewire drive that was tested before we did the install and worked great. I have never had this problem before. The ram was installed by "professionals" and I have performed an "Apple Hardware test" and it's coming up clean. There doesn't seem to be any hardware issue's at least according to the test. I have also been monitoring my CPU temps via iStat Pro and everything seems to be operating within normal parameters. Can anyone help with this one?

Run the Hardware tests from Install DVD1 and see it it reports a SNR (Sensor) or MTR (Motor) error - it sounds to me like a hardware fault in the thermal sensing/cooling system.

  • Second node of 2 node cluster rebooted on it's own

    Hello,
I hope that I am submitting this question correctly. Please let me know if I have done something wrong. I would like to explain what happened in my production environment last night during a maintenance window.
The infrastructure team had discovered that the first node was experiencing some multipath issues to the remote ASM disk, so, in an effort to resolve those issues we took the following actions. I turned off the listener on the first node and shut down the instance. I then verified that all connections to the first node had stopped and that they had moved to the second node (This is the way that our application vendor wanted us to set up RAC - automatic failover). I also stopped ASM, CRS and HAS on the first node for the maintenance.
While the first node was down, something unusual happened with the connection to the ASM disk (both nodes use the same disk for the database) wherein the connection was lost. Once the connection was set back to right, which only took a few minutes, I looked at the alert logs and saw that the instance had started a crash recovery and applied redo from the last logs, which was perfect. But I've been asked this morning to try and discover why the server rebooted. Is there a cluster log that I can reference that might explain why that happened? Is it a failsafe action for an Oracle server (running on CentOS 6) to restart and avoid any issues that might arise from only having one instance up and losing connection to the ASM disk?
We are using Oracle 11.2.0.3.4, which is the recommended version as per our vendor. Please let me know if you require any more information. Please also keep in mind that I am only in my second year as a Database Administrator, working for a small company, so I may not know the answer to every question you ask me right away, but will do my best to answer them. I did graduate from a local college with an Oracle certificate, but I have not yet completed any of the exams to have the Oracle certifications, though.

I should also have mentioned that we are using Oracle Standard Edition and so do not have access to Enterprise Manager.

  • 8110 reboots during phone conversation

I have plenty of free memory and my BB functions properly all the time. However when I am on the phone the entire device just randomly shuts down and reboots. It just turns off and then turns back on like it normally would if I had turned it off and then on. It brings up the hour glass for a while and eventually is starts back up. What is going on? Everyone thinks that I am hanging up on them.
    Thanks

Have you tried removing the battery and replacing it after one minute - let the phone reboot and see if this helps any?

  • Machine reboots on it's own

    As per http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3113705
I have just started having this problem.
I think it is when it is going to sleep but it is happening heaps. I have not installed any new software or and new hardware and also if I hit command spacebar or go and search the search is not opening.
I am going to try and run disk repair now, but any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Interesting. I will have to try that if Samsung cannot find anything. This is going to be a VERY long troubleshooting effort. However, as I stated above, the apps I loaded are completely "normal" apps (I.e. - Facebook, eBay, etc.). How can I be the only one having this issue when thousands of other people use these apps?
Someone else on another forum mentioned that it could possible be a bad ROM update from the cloud. Is that possible? I update it EVERY time is crashes so I doubt that each time it was a bad download.
Also, if it was bad, don't you think it would have crashed as soon as it was installed? This "crash" happens a week or so later...strange.

  • Fresh Install, Fully Updated Leopard Server Keeps rebooting on its own

Just upgraded to Leopard Server from Tiger.
    Fresh, new install, fully updated.
Only software installed is Retrospect 6 and Drobo client.
My Server keeps rebooting by itself after 5-10 after logging in.
Won't reboot on it's own if I don't log in. The services are running in the background.
But once I log in as admin, after 5-10 mins, it will reboot on it's own.
Any ideas are where I should start looking on how to resolve this?

You're going to get to try to isolate this.
Any details from the crash report? (Applications -> Utilities -> Console.) Basically you're going to have to dig around in the crashes, and (if there's nothing obvious there) then, well, "try different configurations and different stuff".
This could be bad memory or a bad sector somewhere on the disk, for instance. Or a bad processor. Or a corrupt file. Or a bug in whichever Leopard Server baselevel is involved here.
    Some steps and some options...
    Disconnect all external hardware.
Run the hardware diagnostics for whichever box is involved here.
See if the box crashes if you log in as some other user.
See if the box crashes with no external hardware, or with no network connected.
If the box isn't under warranty (and any user crashes the box) (and if you're familiar with and comfortable with working inside static-senstive electronics gear), crack it open and reseat everything.
If the system is available to restore or you can blank and install, reinstall everything and leave both Retrospect and Drobo, and see if it crashes. Then add one or the other and see if that crashes stuff, rinse, lather and repeat.
Or you can call up Apple and ask for help.

  • Nokia lukia 730 restards on its own

    Hi,
Ive had my Nokia Lumia 730 for a few weeks now and it is very unreliable causing me to be late for work on a number of occasions ... I set my alarm and it doesn't ring as my phone has rebooted all on its own with 70% battery :/ .. The other day it rebooted in my hand... Is there a reason this is happening and how can I fix !!!
    Thanks andrew

    Hi andrew2208,
I understand how you feel. Can you tell us when did this issue started to happen? Did you change any settings on the phone or download anything prior to this issue? Have you already tried resetting the phone by pressing and holding the power and volume down keys simultaneously for 10-15 seconds? If not, you may give it a try and let us know the outcome.
Oh! By the way, welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community.

  • New Haswell Macbook Pro 15" Sleep/Wake Rebooting fault

Since I got the new Haswell Macbook Pro 15", it has unexpectedly crashed and rebooted continuously. Sometimes it shows the grey reboot message before restarting, other times it freezes and I have to reboot by long holding down the power button.
When it is idle and asleep it still continues to reboot on it's own. Every hour or so it just reboots, gets to the log in screen, goes asleep and reboots again in a little while. The whole cycle takes about an hour, but it is consistently happening.
The report after restarting is saying that it's a Sleep/Wake error, but I'm also concerned as it happens during normal use.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Apple upper level support told me this is a hardware issue and I should return/exchange for another.....

  • Iphone 4 on iOS 6 rebooting at will!

    Hello,
I made the mistake of upgrading my iphone 4 to iOS6. Apart from the google maps missing and the battery drainage, my phone is demonstrating a more serious problem. It reboots at it's own will. Especially when I'm using it, whether it's playing games (and when I'm just about to win!) or tapping on a link that takes me to the app store! Yes, you read right, even opening the app store crashes and reboots the phone!
What can I do? I found some instructions to take it back to iOS5, but no success. I'm getting an error which I think means that this has been disabled by apple - as the error comes on when iTunes tries to connect to the apple website to confirm restore using iOS5.
Has anyone else with iphone 4 had this problem? And if so, do you know if it gets resolved in iOS6.0.1? I checked the list of fixes, but fixing the random reboots isn't on the list...
Thanks apple, I had a phone that was working perfectly and is now ruined because of this stupid upgrade!

    Hi chrisfromgastonia,
Thank you for your response. I should have probably included the troubleshooting I've already done.
You see I've already restored the phone about 20 times, including (but not only) trying to upgrade to iOS5. I say that because iOS6 is actually downgrading!
    Anyway, I tried:
    - restoring from backup
    - completely restoring/resetting to factory (but this still does iOS6 which is not factory setting grrrrr), then adding as new device then restoring from backup
    - also attempted advice to restore to iOS5 but the apple website doesn't seem to allow this
    - then I read on a site that if you install a later version of iTunes you can restore to iOS5, but this isn't working either because iTunes does not connect to the phone because it was used with a later version of iTunes (grrrr again)
So I have reluctantly given up on trying to upgrade to iOS5, unless anyone has a working suggestion on how this can be done.
So what I'm asking is whether installing iOS6.0.1 would at least stop my phone from spontaneously restarting.

  • Exiting Bridge CS4 causes system to reboot.

I have been running CS4 on a Dell 3400 with Windows XP Professional for about a year with no problems.  Recently however when I exit Bridge my system reboots on it's own.  Oddly enough this does not happen when I open Bridge from within Photoshop then exit only when I open Bridge standalone.  Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestion other than don't open Bridge standalone?

No but I was going to thinking the old driver might be the problem.  I did recently add a portable USB drive I wonder if that could be the problem.
