BB 8120 Sync Error. Error Code - 0x80040ff8

Hello,
Can anyone help re my problem?
Everything was working before.
Now cannot sync calendar w/ Outlook.  Other items still sync ok individually.
when sync calendar, got pop up msg "Error encountered. Eoor code - 0x80040ff8.  Check documentation."
"View Log" gets the following towards the end:

I got the same error, after no change to the Blackberry but after starting with a new computer.  The Blackberry Desktop version was the same as on the old computer (4.6), but the new computer uses Office 2007 instead of 2003.  I found a page at Blackberry's site (search for "0x80040ff8" at their "Blackberry Technical Solution Center", http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/searchEntry.do) that tells you what to do, but it involves wiping out the calendar database on the handheld.  Alas, my Blackberry is where all the data was, and I needed to get it to the Outlook calendar, which was empty. 
I therefore did the following, which may include unnecessary or inappropriate elements for your situation.  In particular, you should back up the Outlook file first if, unlike mine, it has useful data that's not already on the handheld.  I used Desktop version 4.7 for this, not 4.6; 4.7 had been giving precisely the same error as 4.6:
1.  In Desktop, go to Backup/Restore, and select Advanced.  This allows you to look at individual databases.
2.  Copy the "Calendar - ALL" entry to the Computer panel (on the left in version 4.7).
3.  Delete the "Calendar - ALL" entry from the device panel.
4.  Copy the same database from the Computer side back to the Device side (on the right).
5. Go to Synchronization Configuration, select Calendar and choose Setup.
6.  Opt for a one-way sync from Device to Computer.  Check the box to replace all the data on the computer.
7.  If this works (as it did for me), don't forget to set the Sync setting in Calendar back to Two Way.
Of note, the point at which the 0x80040ff8 error occurred during the sync attempts made me think it was the Outlook database rather than the Blackberry one that was corrupt.  
Regarding the forum entry stamped "Solved" that suggested removing forbidden characters from the Blackberry calendar:  Removing brackets, slashes and asterisks did not work for me.
