BB 8220 and PlayBook

I am probably just being paranoid, but (a) I have a BB Pearl Flip 8220 which I am happy with, and (b) I am interested in buying a PlayBook. I know that my 8220 is geting old and a bit obsolete (for example some newer BB apps won't run on it) so I just want to be sure that I can connect the PlayBook to my 8220 and be able to use them "tethered" . Does anybody know the definitive answer to that? I can't afford to buy both a PlayBook and a new BB smartphone, so if the answer is negative then I won't be getting a PlayBook in the near future.

Well due to the lack of response I guess theres your answer. i have the same question, but my interest in keeping the 8220 is becasue i just REALLY like the flip phone's high visibility screen and half querty. Newer blackberrys have keypads that are too small for my big fingers.
I want to add a playbook as well... but the lack of web available information on the compatibility between these 2 devices has me in limbo.. Did you find an answer from other sources?

9780 and Playbook bluetooth connection problem

I have never experienced bluetooth connecting problems between my 9780 and Playbook 64 previously ... but for last few days I cannot connect them. I have deleted both devices and re-paired successfully. I have turned both fully off (removed 9780 battery) and still no connection.
I have tested both devices by successfully connecting each of them to other bluetooth devices. They just will not connect to each other for some reason.
The only change was the recent Playbook Software update.
I use the Bridge and Tethering all the time and so need Bluetooth to be working ... thanks for any assistance.

maybe you can uninstall then reinstall the Bridge app on your 9780.

After checking settings and browsing the Internet for possible problems or fixes, I'm having frustrating problems in linking my phone and playbook when they worked fine before a few wks back, does anyone know if this has been a recent problem or if this has been resolved, it does seem a waste of my 64gb playbook if I can no longer use Blackberry bridge (link from Q10 still doesn't do what it is meant to do as it did with me 9800) or bluetooth link up? Please i'm going spare here trying to fix or search for updates that always say 'unavailable for this device', starting to regret getting my new Q10 that i've had for 3mths where bridge doesn't work, bluetooth doesn't get connected properly and useful apps are not available for new Q10 device, my playbook worked wonders with my 9800!

Your Playbook will never work with the Q10 like it did with with your 9800. That's just the way it is.
I would try disconnecting both devices, unpair them, and then reboot both devices and reconnect using the Bridge app. Once they do connect about all you can do access the Internet on the Playbook using your Q10.

Syncing BB 9900 and Playbook with Laptop

Hi
Both my BlackBerry 9900 and Playbook will no longer sync with my Desktop Software. They both used to do so but the bottom right hand corner of the Desktop Software displays as 'disconnected' even though if I use Windows Explorer I can locate each item on the menu with limited access to certain files.
I'm not sure if there is a conflict since upgrading the OS's of each instrument?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated as I need to sync my 'Organizer' (Contacts especially)

Desktop software and playbook

I am running windows XP Professional service pack 3 on my corporate laptop- Installed and uninstalled the Desktop software 3 times will not recognize my playbook or sync up. Sends an error message saying thier is a rim transcoder issue. Help any ideas- the whole purpose of buyng the PlayBook for me was productivity for work and at this point it does not work with my lap top. Looks like in reading the forum this has been problem with Rim for years. Know wonder apple has kicked the **bleep** out of them, device maker who was not software or services capable company. Anyway suggestions to get this thing fuctional would be greatly appreciated

External portable keyboard and Playbook

I don't have any problems with my Playbook, but I do have a question. I would like to get a portable keyboard because the one in the Playbook is not very good for serious document typing.
Is it possible to buy a regular portable wireless keyboard and have the Playbook connect to it? Will the Playbook's OS be compatible with what a keyboard that most likely has been made for Windows or Mac compatibility?

Amazon UK and Playbook

Hi there,
I have been looking at buying a Playbook here in the uk. Yes you can get them at present from UK suppliers but know that it will us spec and would rather a UK one.
However the online pre orders like Dixons and PC world have a short window of return if you have a problem with it or need to return it should you want to get a refund. Therefore Amazon UK are far better in getting a new one sent should a problem occur but does anyone here know of a date when Amazon uk themselves will sell it and not via a re-seller?
Also can you let me know if you have bought a US spec one here in the UK, what is the downside re voltage etc?

The lead / adapter is a two-pin US plug. You can buy an international to UK adapter for £5 from Boots.
The keyboard options are QWERTY or DVORAK. There is a language option, which I have attached a screenshot so you can see the options there. Otherwise, it is almost exactly like your BlackBerry keyboard with the ALT key options.
I would expect the UK models to be exactly the same as their US counterparts, except for having a three-pin charger instead. In fact, the voltage allowed on the US model does allow for UK 240v supplies. So you don't have to worry about it exploding.
If these are UK/US region problems, I haven't noticed.

Documents to Go Password Works on Q10 and Playbook but not on MS Excel 2007,2010 nor 2013 on PC

This has been really frustrating for me. I'm a long time BB user (over 6 years) and want to promote BB and its features, but when straigtht forward features don't work and when it hard to find any information on why they don't work is painful.
The excel file that I have I can edit and save it on my Playbook, and Q10, but when I copy the file to my PC and try to open it, I get an error message from excel that the file is corrupted. I have tried different options (i.e., renaming the file then copying it, trying to open it with excel 2007, 2010, and 2013, using the Web App to open it, and it says that I need Rights Management (RM) to open.) Does anyone know of a means to open without using software to break the password. I appreciate any assistance.

Fantasy football and playbooks

does anyone know how to log on to sky sports fantasy football from your blackberry curve 8520 wehen i put it up on my phone i cant find the log on bit anywere
2nd question if anyone knows the answer i want to get a playbook that has flash and that i can connect to my phone internet while i am away at the weekends i was thinking of getting a blackberry playbook just cause its the same make of my phone but does anyone know what other playbooks i could connect to the internet using my blackberry curve internet and also has flash adobe

Im the proud and Lucky owner of a Z10 and 2 Playbooks ( no complains at all)
and here is a little info of how all started...
I have 2 little girls 9 and 10   and they where playing with the PBs around the house doing the video chat
and while they were hiding in places..
then I thought wouldnt be nice if you can chat with the Z10 the same way?????
well one day I grabbed one PB
* I opened video chat:
* I add a New contact :
* name - last name :   Z10   -   BB
* then I enter the Z10 Pin :      548XXXCD
then click .....save
then right there hit to connect with the Z10 and BANG ...I got the video call on my Z10 Wohhohooo
well it was an 80 % connection.. and the voice was choppy... some times freezing
Maybe because the Z10 and that one PB share the same BB-id .?? and E-mail ??

opened BBm and invite contact... sent the invite..
well it didnt work .... Im still waiting on the acceptance wich I never receiven on the PB

with BBm close and BBm opened
worked fantastic..well for that little bit that worked.....
no need to be on the same page like Skype or other video chat..
so far only from PlayBook cam make a call to the Z10 / BBm
but I cant from the Z10 to the PB

its a fantastic way to connect with a native app instead a thirds party

My son actually calles me on my Z10 via Playbook with video chat and works amazing. But I can't call him from my Z10 to Playbook, because when I got the playbook, I registered my BB ID same as my Z10.. The only way to make the Z10 call the Playbook is to have a diffrent BBID assoicated with the playbook. This can be done, but a secure wipe has to be done on the playbook and any software you bought would be gone. The other way it would work is if Blackberry Installs BBM on the playbook then it would solve the issue.

Z10 and playbook

I have sync the two but, i can recieve emails on my z10 ok, and I can only receive emails on my playbook ok but only if i am connected to a WIFI connection. i dont know why i cannot recieve emails on my playbook through my z10?

Well, after reading through the different questions on here, From what I gather the z10 dosnt support the playbook as of yet anyway. I hope they will fix this prolem as I really do like and use my playbook. even though they are discontunied.

Should I be able to synchronize contacts, calandar and notes from my PC or BB Curve 9900 to my Playbook with

Microsoft Office Outlook can not be directly sync with the PlayBook, what you can do is to install the connector for Outlook.com (ex-Hotmail), and from there you can copy your contact and calendar from Office Outlook to Outlook.com, and then just add this account to your PlayBook and everything will be sync

Battery connector and Playbook response

Occasionally, since the normal computer connector (mini-USB) often fails to charge the Playbook to 100%, I use the wall connector that came in the box.
When charged, I have found an oddity when the Playbook is removed from the charger, and I then decide, for whatever reason to turn the machine off. What happens is that it doesn't do that: one can see a glow from the screen and it's otherwise totally unresponsive. I have to give it the three-fingered salute to rewake it, and then find that it has discharged a significant percentage.
Odd, and not understood. Now, if I remove it and use it after discarding the wall connector, then the Playbook works. Then, if I plug it into the computer for synchronizing things, that's fine too.
It might, or might not, recharge to 100%: one can never be sure when using the USB to computer cable.

For me (and a few others I've read of) that release was horrible on my battery life. It would drain with no apps running either in standby or completely off.
Three things you can try, in this order:
Delete and re-add your native email accounts on the Playbook (not Bridge email).
Backup your PB, wipe and reinstall the OS via the Desktop Software, which will move you back to OS .358 (but you will NOT be able to restore .668 backup to .358).
Upgrade the device to the PlayBook beta 2.1.0.840 (current release).**
**this solved the battery drain for me. The OS is smoother and runs great, I highly recommend this.

PLEASE HELP flashing light and playbook doesn't switch on!!

Hello,
I have my tablet won't switch on and when I try to turn on, the red light and green light flashing 5 times. And then nothing. Unable to turn on.
I tried a reboot by pressing power + volume - and nothing!
I tried to update with BlackBerry Desktop Manager (latest version) and when the update reaches the end error message comes to me and it there was a problem: "A connection to the tablet Could not be ESTABLISHED. Please connect your tablet and try again. "
I also tried to charge it with a 2000mA charger for several hours and still nothing.
I no longer guarantee
Please help me, I do not know what to do.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. After the error message, I plugged in the charger. It took quite a while but the tablet started charging. It reinstalled the update when it reached the 20% level. Another update error came up to change my setting. I checked my setting but didn't change anything and just reinstall update again which this time was a success. Hope this would help.
