BB 8330 media card

Hi. I just got the Blackberry Curve 8330 last week and am still having some problems. My latest is this: i bought a 2 gb media card and installed into phone. Then i transferred about 50 or so songs onto the card. Later I went to transfer more music but got an error message that the files could not be transferred. I looked under options/media card and read: total space 1.8 gb   free space 1.4 gb. Talked with verizon wireless and was told to format the card, which i did. repeated everything but same problem. now verizon tells me the media card is bad. i bought a new 2 gb card, formatted, and tried again. same exact thing. once i put 20 % capacity on the card i get this same message. does anyone think it may actually be the phone? or something else? thank you.

Do you have a memory card reader? If so connect the media card to the computer via a memory card reader, and then try to load the music files there Do you get a similar message?

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 Media Card Problem

I just bought a BlackBerry Curve 8330 from amazon and activated it. Everything works perfectly except when I put a formatted media card into the device it says in options>media card: A media card is not presently inserted in the device. I have tried everything, the battery pull, reformatting the card, reformatting the O.S. and nothing seems to work. I have tried 2 different media cards in this device, a 1gb one and a 2gb one and both don't work. I tried them in other phones and they work perfectly. I would greatly appreciate some support. Also, could I send the phone into Verizon or take it to a Verizon store for repairs even though I bought it online?

OK, try this with the Media Card in the device:
(you cannot "hide" the entire Media Card, you can hide subfolders)
So, open the Media icon > press the Menu key > Explore.
Navigate to the Media Card > BlackBerry > Pictures.
Press the Menu key there > Properties, can you UNcheck the "hidden" property?
If it is grey and uncheckable, it is an empty box, or checked?
Can you see ANYthing in the pictures folder?

  • Curve 8330 and micro SDHC media card?

Does the Curve 8330 support a micro SDHC media card or do I have to only use a micro SD card?
    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
A couple of places for you to visit: Blackberry 101    Tips & Tricks
It will support a micro SDHC media card.  See these kb articles:   Media Card sizes supported by BB OS
Go to options-about (3rd line down will read v4.x.x.xxx - this is your OS version)

  • Largest Media Card Capacity for BB Curve 8330

I have read the largest supported capacity for the BB curve 8330 is 8 GB but I was wondering if anyone had tried any larger capacities memory cards with any success or failure. I would love to put all my music on my phone, but 8 GB is not going to hold it all. I have A LOT of music. I would need at least 16 GB to get by with to be able to have room for all my music, pictures and videos. But before I run out and spend a bunch of money on a larger card I wanted to know if anyone else had tried it.

  • Problem with storing pictures to the Media Card

I set my 8330 to store pictures to the media card.  It works for a while and then the device reverts to storing it on the device memory.  It does this without asking or telling me that it's done so.  It's very frustrating.  Anybody have any idea why it would do this?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
That's a very odd situation. Can you tell us, when this happens, does your BB "see" the media card at all? For instance, if when you notice this, can you do Media > Explore and get to the media card still?
Another thing to check is your device OS version -- perhaps there is an update from your carrier that has fixes that would be useful...you can check your carrier via this portal:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
If your device OS is current, then you might want to try a different media card...perhaps there is something amiss with the one you have.
Also, how to do you go about recovering and getting it to again store on the media card?
    Thanks!

  • BB 8330 Media Manager, Media Sync hanging - not connecting...

(I just know this is treated in depth somewhere but after a couple of hours of searching, I can't find it so appologies in advance...)
I have a BB 8330 from Verizon running v4.5.0.77 - no media card.
    Using Device Manager, the:
    Driver version is: 4.1.0.4
Driver Node Strong Name is: oem25.inf:RIM:RimUsb.Device.NT:4.1.0.4:usb\vid_0fca&pid_8004&mi_00
Windows thinks the driver is up to date.
    I am running  Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32[Nov 4 2008]
When I launch DM, I can successfully Back up my BB.
On my Vista PC - When I attempt to launch  Media Manager 9, it has found the files in the Library but it goes into a wierd loop where it keeps seeing the F: drive and then removes it and then resets and then sees it again - forever (or at least for the day that I left it in that loop)
I loaded the DM on another PC running XP and observe a similar behavior - it's not quite as zippy so it just looks more like a hang
To try something different, I downloaded Media Sync v2.0.0.22 and, when the BB is connected, I get the error: "BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect." - I get the same error with and without the DM running.
Something seems sort of hinky in that, while my BB is plugged in on my Vista system, occassionall I get the lights flashing on my keyboard like someting is resetting the USB every few minutes (unrelated Vista crap?).
    Please help...

You are going to want to get a media card if planning to add music-ringtones-pictures-videos.  Don't want to use up device memory.  It'll go fast.

  • Media Card Issue *maybe*

I have a 2GB media card in my bberry curve 8330 and when I'm trying to save some pictures to it it's showing "Directory Full" but when I look at my avail free space it's showing 1.1GB Free.  I'm stumped as I can't figure out how to save when it's showing no avail space.

    Hi,
I also wanted to know what folders I should see on my phone when I go into Media, Explore, Media Card ?  From some of the threads I've been reading they mention that you should see blackberry, documents, music etc right under Media Card but mine is laid out as below
What's on my phone currently is :
    Media Card
    Folder Blackberry
    inside Blackberry Folder is
subfolders documents, music, pictures, ringtones, videos & voicenotes
I've always saved all my pictures, videos etc to folder Media Card only not any subfolders...could that be the reason I got the msg "Directory Full" ?
Tonight I'm going to try uploading all of my stuff onto my home computer, doing a memory card format and then redownloading all of my info into the approp folders on the media card.

  • Media Card Settings

This is kind of a wierd question, and I've searched for an answer with no luck.  Previously on my phone, under the pictures the two options at the top were for the Cache and the Media Card which upon selecting the Media Card, it would let you view the folders within it.  Now, for some reason, and I'm not sure what I've done...all of the subfolders within the Media Card are in that top list automatically.  I want it to switch back so that the top only displays Media Card, instead of the subfolders within it.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!  Thank you.

    8330 (Alltel)

I think I understand (not that I know why it matters)... BUT,
the next time you leave your Media Card subfolders, try not to exit until you have navigated upwards to the Media Card main folder.
See if that works and when you return does it return to the Media Card, rather than its subfolders.
    If not, I don't know...

  • Installing a media card

I recently changed from a 8830 world phone to a 8330 curve.  I've inserted the media card from the 8830 to the Curve and I get the following message under options/media card: (Media card cannot be read.  Verify that the memory card is formatted.)
I've tried to format the media card and the following message comes up: (Media card format failed)  I've tried taking the card out several times and still the same thing happens.  What's wrong or what am I doing wrong?

    Hi Mike;
Try formating the card in a PC using FAT. This should allow the 4.3 OS to use the card.
Let us know how your doing...

I just got the blackberry curve, 8330, and bought a media card. I inserted the card and have been trying to format it, but all it does is freeze my blackberry. is it a bad card? what am I doing wrong here?

You could have a bad card.  Try formatting it on a pc and see what happens.

I recommend that you take the media card out of the phone and try to read it on a PC.  If it reads OK, I would then back up the files on the card (on to the PC) and format the card using the PC's system which is more thorough than the phones format system.
If you have problems reading the media card on your PC, use the data recovery tools in your PC operating system to try and recover the media card contents.
If the PC format is successful, then return the media card to your phone and see if can be read.  You may need to format it (in the phone).  FYI;  format in the phone typically is just to create the folders for your files (pictures, music, documents, etc.).
Now copy your 'backed up' files from the PC onto the media card and you should be good.
If none of these operations are successful, you may have a damaged media card and need a replacement.
    Good luck.

  • Newbie Qs: how do you check what's stored in media card?

Besides, taking it out and checking it on PC, is there a way to do this through BB?
I just put 2GB card in and it's already 1.8 GB full.
I can account for 0.5GB with pics and songs but like to know and monitor its content.

Hi and welcome to the forums,
on 4,3 you can out a 4 or 8gb media card so you are okay there.
DID you notice that instead of a full 2gb, the actual was about 1.8 due to formatting info.
    Check the following options:
    Media Card window
    ON
    Encryption
    NONE
    Mass storage support
    ON
    auto enable when connected
    YES
On your media card do you have these folders:
    Blackberry
    pictures
    music
    ringtones
    videos
    voicenotes
This is the folder structure that the Blackberry needs to allocate the media to.
Do you have these folders on your media card?

  • BB can't see media card but PC can

Hi, I'm attempting to install a 4 gb Micro SDHC card into my Blackberry 8330 but I'm not having any luck. I can see and work with the card from my PC but not the BB. Here are the details:
    BB software v4.3.0.127
    Carrier = Verizon Wireless
Media card is a SanDisk (not purchase from Verizon) 4gb micro SDHC
Formated card in PC, no problem
added directories (recommended by another thread) for pictures, voicenotes, video, blackberry and ringtones
Changed Media settings on blackberry to match recommendations from other tread:
    media card support is on
    encryptions mode = none
    mass support mode = on
auto enable mass storage = yes
The BB still tells me the media card cannot be read. If I try to format it from the BB, it says the "Media Card Format Failed".
    Any help would be appreciated.
