Hi
All will be well if you have a recent backup. If not the following course of action should give you a fully functioning device but alas without personal data, contacts etc.
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software (DTS)
http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
and save it to computer.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
1) Download JL_Cmder from http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html
2) Install JL_Cmder to computer.
3) Double check you have already backed-up the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data.
4) Make sure the DTS is closed and plug in the BB to computer via USB
5) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now,this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
6) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
7) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
8) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
9) Press "Y" to continue
10) Now type "blackberry" to continue
11) On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error. Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1). On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > Update my device.
2). Click View Other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
3). Click Install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

  • My MacBook Pro (2 and a half years old) won't start

My MacBook Pro (2 and a half years old) won't start up. For a long time it showed the apple logo and a load bar. When the load bar completed 7 hours later, the computer shut off and now I can't get it to start up past the first screen w apple logo. Help!

Watch this video -> http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macbookpro_13_unibody_early11_hd/ - it's for late 2011 models, too: if it looks too daunting, have an AASP do the job.
I don't know of any websites in S. Korea but you should decide on what capacity you want (prices have plummetted for 1 or even 1.5 terabyte drives) and look for the dimensions of 2.5" x 9.5mm.
Personally, I like HGST (Hitachi) drives - particularly the Travelstar 7K1000 (a one terabyte drive with SATA III (6.0Gbps - which your model supports) speeds.
One thing I've been hearing a lot of positive views on, though, is the Seagate 1 terabyte SSHD (a 'hybrid' drive that uses both SSD and spinning drive technologies -> here's one at Amazon). Your machine would run much faster with one of these hybrid drives.
Take a look at the video and decide if you can DIY. I'm tickled that you have backups - most people, it seems, don't!
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • The case of my 7 month old mbp has started to get very hot within minutes of switching it on. Is this normal and is there anything I can do?hing

The case of my 7 month old mpb has started to get very hot within 2 or 3 minutes of switching it on. Is this normal and is there anything I can do?

The heat generated by the system is directly related to the load put on the system and the speed of the fans.
The former (high CPU load) generates heat, the latter (fan speed) dissipates it.
If your machine is getting hot then either some process is consuming lots of CPU power, causing more heat to be generated, or your fans are not working properly to dissipate whatever heat is being generated.
So the first question is whether your fans speeds kick into high gear or not? if they don't then it could indicate a hardware problem, either with broken fans, or with broken temperature sensors that control the fan speed.
If the fans do come on but the system is still getting hot then I'd look for a software issue - some process that's running rampant. It should be easy to spot with something like /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor. There should be a lot of processes listed, but most should use just a few percentage points of CPU power. If any process is using a lot of CPU power then it warrants some investigation - what is that process? should it be running? Is it failing in some way. Post the results of your Activity Montor report and I'm sure someone can chime in.

    hi,
my wife just bought a new macbook pro few months ago, and it sat on her desk , safe and without being moved around.
yesterday night the fans were blowing air like jet engines , but this morning it would not start again.
do you think we still can have it fixed my apple?it did not fall down or something, it sat on her desk.

Since this is a new machine and under warranty, simply go to Apple and let them handle it.

  • 3 month old iMac produces little clicking sounds coming from the top

As of today, my three month old iMac is started to make little clicking sounds! It comes from to upper side. There in the neighborhood of the iSight. What is this???? It sounds like a hard drive. Is the HD located near the camera? I need a silent computer because I record audio in front of it. That was the main reason I bought the MAC, three months ago, brand new out of the box.
After three months of software headaches (leopard) , the hardware troubles start too!! My Compaq Armada Pentium 3 laptop is still flawless after years and years of heavy use. I also ran Windows XP for more than 3 years without having to reformat. I have reinstalled Leopard 3 times in 3 months.
    Whats going on with Apple?

Contact Apple and arrange for warranty repair.

  • IMAC Won't start up its only 6 months old so I am frustrated.

This is the second time it has done this, the first time it froze when I clicked yes to and update, when I tried to turn it back on I got nothing but 3 beeps, so I got on my daughters PC and trouble shot the MAC finally got it back up and thought it was doing great. But the other day when I got up it was shut down (do not think there was a power outage, saw no evidence of one on other electronics)Any way when I turn it on the fans start it makes the noise like it is starting up then it starts the 3 beeps in a row pause 3 beeps again. I again got on my daughters netbook and tried to trouble shoot, but this time nothing is working. Any advise? Or is anyone else having this problem. I can't believe I am having problems with it already. This is my first MAC and I was so excited to get it, but now not so sure.

I would use the procedure to reset SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543
which is basically disconnecting ALL cables and power, and reconnecting it following a precise procedure. When you reconnect the power cord, if you have been using a crowded or old power strip (surge suppressor), try connecting it directly to the wall outlet, at least initially. Then power it up. If that allows it to start up properly, connect just your keyboard/mouse. Use it that way for a while. You should also use this procedure to reset PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If all is well, you can add your peripheral (USB/FireWire) devices one by one. If the problem recurs at some point, check the possibility that the last device you added is causing this problem.
NOTE: After the SMC reset procedure, if the iMac still does not start up properly, even with nothing except the power cord connected, you should have it looked at by a technician at an Apple Store or Apple-certified shop. If it's only six months old, it still covered by the one-year warranty.

  • IMac acting strange now won't start only 3 months old

This has just happened. Whilst doing some encoding a message suddenly appeared saying I had to restart. Everything had sort of froze. So I restart and get to the apple logo but then a grey screen comes down saying restart again and big lines of code appear.
Straight away booked in for genius appointment but that's not till wednesday. Anyone know what's happened?it's a 24" iMac. 4 g ram. Only 4 months old.
Before this I've noticed other little things like apps not responding and the famous beachball. Not to good for a £1200 mac!!!

    Anyone know what's happened?
There would be no way anyone here would know.

  • My 2 month old Iphone is losing it's mind.  It's randomly turning on Voice Command and calling people or turning on the IPod.  It freezes up and won't let me go back to the home screen.

My 2 month old IPhone started randomly turning on Voice Command and calls people and turns on the IPod.  It freezes up and won't let me push the home button.  Any suggestions?

OK, I reset it several times and it worked fine all day yesterday.  Today when I turned on the bluetooth it went back to the same problem.  Voice Control comes on and the home button won't work at all.  I have gone through the reset many times and it isn't working.  How do I restore firmware as you suggested?

  • HT201401 my iPhone 5 randomly switched itself when somebody was calling me and now won't turn on. it had 90% battery, I've tried factory reset, connecting to iTunes and nothing works. the phone is approx 18 months old so surprise surprise out of warranty.

My 5S just started doing this on Thursday: every fraction of a second or so it oscillates between connecting and disconnecting with the charger (USB or wall, doesn't matter). Since it's still under the limited warrantee, I took it to the local Mac dealer (I live in a small town w/out an Apple store) and they shipped it off. I'm waiting now for the replacement--telephonless, too!
What concerns me is that many people seem to be having this issue.
You were right to be suspicious of the Apple store employees. Once they replicated the behavior that you experienced, they should have immediatly offered to exchange your phone. Anything else, in my opinion, is unacceptable. As long as your phone is still doing it, I'd go back, ask for the manager and tell them to exchange your phone.

  • My Mac is 15 months old and all of a sudden it has started resetting the time and date then I get a message saying not all apps will work because of the pre Jan date any help as to why ? Causing problems with wireless router.

My Mac book pro is 15 months old and now suddenly it has started resetting the date and time, causing problems with applications and my wireless access. Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

Seems the time isn't being saved to your computer correctly, it may be a corrupt file that isn't saving the time anymore.
    You can move the
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
file out of your Users/Library/Preferences folder to the desktop and reboot.
then go to your System Preferences > Date and Time and set a time server close to your location (or in your time zone)
(trash the file on the desktop if no ill issues occur later on)
or you can follow/bookmark these support docs to reset your PRAM and SMC (and for future reference)

I don't remember exactly where OS X is keeping it time settings now, but I think one of those choices should help resolve your issue and won't hurt anything giving them a shot. Perhaps someone else could refresh my memory.

  • I have a new Macbook pro, about 2 months old, and at times running video, the fans starts and does not stop. how do you get it to stop.

I have a new Macbookbook, about 2 months old, and at times running video, the fans starts and does not stop. how do you get it to stop. Also i am thinking once the video is done  the fan should be slowing down and getting quiet on its own.

Your fan(s) will run at high speed (i.e., loudly) while video is playing, and you can't get around that.
If your fans are not slowing down within 2-4 minutes after CPU- and/or GPU-intensive usage ends, and the application that was showing the video is still running, Quit that application. (In fact, if you're accustomed to Windows, you may not realize that simply closing a Mac application's window does not quit the application. You still need to use the Quit command in the application-name menu. There will always be a bright dot beside or below the application icon in your Dock for each application that is open.) Quit the ones you aren't using, and see whether that allows the fans to slow down without restarting the machine. If that doesn't do the trick, reset the SMC:
