  • Verizon iPhone 5 Update Fixes Cellular Use on WiFi Bug

If you have been seeing higher cellular data usage while you are on WiFi, good news, Verizon has fixed this bug.  All you need to do is update your Carrier Settings to 13.1 and the bug is fixed.
For directions on how to update your Carrier Settings, see:
Verizon iPhone 5 Update Fixes Cellular Data Use on WiFi Bug - EVDOinfo.com
Be interesting to see if this fixes the issues for all those having the problem

I have the exact same problem!
I'm using the iPhone 5 now under Carrier M1 Singapore 13.0 and I have noted that over a period of 2 weeks, my cellular data usage has been about 2.7GB on an average. Since I know my bill has been capped at 3GB, I have since switched off my cellular data.
However, when I switched it on for a few days after using it for awhile, my cellular usage jumped by 1.2GB in just 1 day! And I used it as I would on an average day (like during an average day in the 2 weeks)!
I understand that there have been reports of a bug that have caused this problem in the US.

But I'm hoping that there's a solution for those living in Singapore? Do I seek the help from my carrier as well? But if it's a problem with the phone, then my carrier definitely would not help, right?

  • Allowing updates over cellular data

The recent iOS updates are minor and the saddest part is that, it requires to have Wifi to update. It's great if it's allowed (say like less 100 MB) over cellular network. Also, iTunes downloads entire update (close 1GB) regardless of the version running in the device in which we are going to update. Can this be fixed?

The limitations on cellular download size is to keep carriers happy. Even then, the limit has gone up over time. Also, with most carriers now using capped data plans allowing larger downloads would create huge cellular bills.
For updates specifically, when an update comes out a lot of people grab it immediately. The cellular data networks have very little reserve capacity, so a sudden spike in data usage could crash the network, or at least make it unavailable to most users. And those users would keep trying, thus putting even more load on a maxed out network. As it is, If I'm in Penn Station in NYC during rush hour and there are train delays I can't get a data connection.

  • !!!SLOW CALENDAR ON 8530 AFTER UPDATE TO 5.0.0.734!!!

    Hello everyone,
I was looking through this forum, and I didn't come across anyone mentioning anything about this, so I'm hoping that I'm just doing something wrong...
I recently updated my Berry's OS to 5.0.0.734, and ever since I have done that, my calendar is just unusable. When I click the icon to get into the calendar, it just hangs for about 10-20 seconds (depending on what's all open)and doesn't let me do anything, not even exit out... Total hang... and then once it does get into the calendar, it hangs again before it lets me scroll to enter an appointment. Altogether, it probably will take me 20-30 seconds to get to the point where I can start typing the actual appointment details.
What did I do?? Is there any cure? Do I have to roll-back??? I've never had to roll-back a Berry before, is that something simple? This really sucks!

    Problem solved...
I downgraded to the previous version of the BlackBerry OS (OS: 5.0.0.508) and all of my pains have disappeared. I just couldn'y live without a responsive phone...
For whatever reason, the recent software upgrade failed miserably, or is miserable to begin with. I recommend keeping 5.0.0.508, and not going to 5.0.0.734.
Anyway, I was able to restore my never ending recurrances in my Calendar and it's up as soon as I click the calendar app icon on the home screen.
Bifocals, I really appreciate the time you took, but two days was long enough for me without a decent phone... now I'm a proud and happy BlackBerry Curve owner again.
Hope we can chat again down the road... just not about Calendars being slow... hehehe.
    Sincerely,
    ~Tom

  • 100MB applications updating on cellular network

    Hi all,
Today I've encountered an interesting behaviour in the iOS app store when updating large applications while on a mobile network. When I pressed the " Update all" button (I had ~5 apps marked for update, 2 of them below 100MB), a popup came up telling me that some of the apps won't download since they're larger than 100MB - but when I pressed the OK button, they downloaded and installed anyway.
Is this behaviour expected? I've seen the popup so many times, I did not think to snap a screenshot of that...
I'm 100% positive that I was not connected to any wifi networks at the time (see attached screenshot below).
I apologize if this question has already been answered before (and for my choice of the category, did not know which one to choose for this).
    Device and carrier details:
    - iPhone 6 64GB
    - iOS 8.1.3
    - provider: si.mobil (Slovenia), Cellular data enabled and set to LTE

Most carriers don't put your phone's IP available on the internet.  First, the IPv4 ranges are running out - and with millions of phones all requiring IP addresses, you'd need millions of publicly available IP addresses that just don't exist.
Instead they use NAT.  If you have a home network with a router you probably have NAT.
On your cellular network, your phone will be given an internal address, and you can get out to the internet through the NAT device.  But, because network connections coming from the internet to the NAT can't specify which phone they want, the NAT can't
direct the connection through to your phone.  There are protocols that can do this, but you'd have to get your carrier on board to implement them - good luck with that!
Some proof?  Take a look at the address : 10.205.41.235.  That's an
    internal reserved Class C network.
One way around this, if you absolutely need phone A on Carrier B to connect to Phone C on Carrier D is to have a server that acts like a receptionist.  A connects to the server, and C connects to the server.  Something A sends to the server looks
up C (or the reverse) and then the server passes A->C and C->A communications as if they were local.

  • IOS7 Update - Cellular Service Not Working

After installing the long awaited IOS7 today, my cellular service does not work. Now I can only use

I managed to get my ipad working after hours. The problem was that with the new ios7 came a carrier setting update 'Vodacom 15.1' which is the problem. Vodacom 15.0 is working.
    How to fix.
Go to iTunes and make a backup of your device. Restore it from iTunes and restore your device from your backup. Do not accept any carrier setting update when prompted. After the carrier update your cellular will not work if you have the same problem.
If you have an iPhone go to settings, general, about, carrier.
Look at the carrier setting there and then look at your ipad. You will find that your ipad is probably a newer version currently.
Note that this is not a ios7 issue, but a carrier setting issue.
    Hope it helps.
Please let me know if you need more help.
Ps. My ipad is still working great. What a relief. Almost took it in for repairs.

  • App update notification on top right corner: any way to disable?

    Hi all!
Running Mountain Lion I get a notification at the top right of the screen every time an App update is available. There are two buttons Update and Details but no Dismiss, "Go Away", or Cancel. I've got dozens of Apps on my laptop and don't want to update every time I get a notification. I figured out that a two finger swipe on the notification sends it off the screen (thanks Apple really obvious that one!). The problem is that fifteen minutes later it's back again!
Is there any way of disabling App Store notifications without disabling all notifications? I can't see one.

Thanks for your reply.i disabled the updates for cellular data.i hope there is no way to stop iphone to check updates for my purchased app item.most app relesing updates for compatible for iOS7,im using 6.1.3 for my 3gs.why should APPLE pushing me to update? if i'm not update the red counting icon was still there,if i update unnessery we have to use Wifi Data,
in India 3G or Broadband will cost Rs 1600 or more for minimum 2Mbps speed also with limited Data.we get unlimited data in same cost, but speed is less then 512 Kbps only.it was boring speed.
already Blootooth and downloaing ituens video transfer was a minus point in iphone if we compare to Anroid.
my question is why dont iOS having disable updat option?,it was any for particular reason?or it was a bug in ios?
for this problem most  of the indian user Jailbreakng thier phones,
already Blootooth and downloaing ituens video transfer was a minus point in iphone if we compare to Anroid.

How can I update my cellular towers?

    Hi,
Power off your device and remove your battery. Then, remove your Sim card. Leave everything for a moment and then put the card and battery back in the phone. Power up and the phone will update towers automatically. Hope this helps.

PLEASE HELP!!!  I am simply trying to update the APN settings on my Iphone3 AT&T carried Straight Talk SIM phone.  For some reason, when I enter the Straight Talk APN info in the Config Utility and click "Install", NOTHING HAPPENS.  WHY?  I have spent almost 2 full days simply trying to get the cellular data network settings to appear and I am now at the point of pulling hair and/or smashing things.  Why is it so difficult to simply update the cellular data network APN settings on a standard Iphone 3 ATT with a unlimited Straight Talk plan?  Everyone knows that Straight Talk's $45 a month unlimited data/calling plan is supposed to be 100% compatible with AT&T carried Iphones.  Will someone please tell me HOW TO UPDATE THE APN SETTINGS ON THIS IPHONE 3.  Thanks and God bless

StraightTalk is not a supported carrier.
    Contact them for support.
FYI, unless the device is officially unlocked from AT&T, you will not be able to use it on another carrier.

  • How to update software without wifi?

I want to update my ipad , i want to use ios 7.1 ?
Pls help me how to update without wifi ?
How to update with cellular 3G connection ?

You cannot upgrade to iOS 7 via a cell connection. The upgrade is far too large. If you can't use Wi-Fi, you'll need to upgrade via iTunes on your computer. See the section titled "Update your device using iTunes" in this support article:

Unfortunately not. However, you can work around if you have a spare phone. Use your sim in the spare phone and tether.
