What is the default homepage for the blackberry 8530 that comes from Verizon? I changed it but now I want it back, so I want to use the old one again. Thank you

    Hi,
Open the BB Browser, click the BB Menu button and choose options, click on browser configuration, scroll down to start page and click button on right. choose start page and this will set it back to the verizon start page that was the default setting. click the back button and save.
    that's it.

  • 8530 Verizon to Cricket flash + Sync questions

I am awaiting a used Curve 8530 (Verizon, bad ESN) that I bought on Ebay.  I intend to flash it to Cricket myself.  (It will be my first attempt at this.)  I also intend to buy Cricket's voice/text plan and only access the Web using Wi-Fi.
I have the phone software and PRL files -- but phone doesn't come with BB software disk.  I need it to sync my calendar and tasks and thought using Outlook was best idea for that.  I have XP, Outlook 2000.  Since my Outlook software is so old I have learned that I should download desktop manager 4.2.2, which I have found online.
Since my phone is a Verizon phone, do I need to use a Verizon version of desktop manager?  Also, do I lose any functionality by using 4.2.2 as opposed to a newer desktop manager version?  (Since Outlook is expensive, I'd rather stick with one I have, but am willing to upgrade if necessary to make phone function well.)
Also, I have read that I should use qxdm only when flashing the phone because qpst can cause problems and make phone "unprogrammable," which I am guessing means that phone wouldn't update its PRL file via *228.  Other people say they used qpst without a problem.  Is this good advice -  not to use qpst?
Finally, after much research I have found many different ways to flash a BB to Cricket.  This brings up various  possibilities:  1) there are many ways to do this and they all work equally well; 2) there are many ways to do it and depending on which way I choose you will get various degrees of functionality as a result; 3) some of the ways I have found will work and some won't.
Although I do not plan on buying a data plan, much less a BB plan, I would nevertheless like the phone "fully flashed" in the event I later decide to pay for the data plan or BB plan.
I would appreciate any additional advice one make have for me.  Thank you.

Here's how I solved my problems:  Phone arrived and was a Sprint phone.  Bought the MSL (unlocking code) for $7.50 on eBay.  Then tried to flash phone.  Phone software didn't operate as advertised and I spent %40 on flashing.  Got Outlook 2003 and syncing is fine.  Old phone number ported today but phone would not OTASP (*228 programming), so now have to take it into Cricket store tomorrow.  Oh, phone gets weak signal, have to go on my porch to use it.  Hopefully when phone properly set up the signal will be stronger.  What a headache!

  • Using 8530 as wireless modem

    Hi there,
I'm trying to use my wife's 8530 as a wireless modem for my laptop.
Data plan turned on through Koodo - fine.
Run BB desktop, connect the phone, select wireless internet - get a message that "the radio is not turned on"...
    What??
    Help please...
    Thanks,

  • Email alerts question

when i get an email i only get a star on the envelope icon and not the yahoo mail icon. this is a warranty replacement phone, on my previous phone(same model) showed a star on both the envelope and the yahoo mail icons. i have the blackberry 8530 v5.0.037 (platform 4.2.0.136)

I just posted this question again because I'm having the same issues only mine is a new phone.  Any luck with figuring it out though?

  • New WSUS install does not respond to clients over ports 8530 or 8531

I've recently installed WSUS on a Server 2012 machine, and am struggling to get it to respond to requests from other hosts. I cannot get it to respond to any host in any manner, except for requests from itself.
    My setup is as follows:
WSUS installed on a Server 2012 domain controller, DC01.
Other roles installed include AD CS, AD DS, DNS, IIS, and Print Services.
WSUS is using all default settings.
The firewall has inbound and outbound exceptions for ports 8530 and 8531
A bit of information about what's happening:
IIS will respond over port 80. I can open a Web browser from my workstation and connect to http://dc01/. If I attempt to connect to http://dc01:8530 (which I know should not work, but
should respond with a 403 error), it times out. Identical behavior is observed over port 8531 with https.
IIS will respond with a 403 if I make this same connection in a browser on DC01, it will work if I connect using either the loopback IP or hostname, but will time out if I attempt to make the connection using the server's local IP (IPv4).
If I try to connect from my workstation using the WSUS configuration snap-in, I get an error: The remote server could not be contacted. Please verify that IIS on the server is correctly configured and is running.
If I try to connect from DC01 using the WSUS configuration snap-in, it works correctly.
The above is true for both http (8530) and https (8531).
IIS logs show inbound connections from my workstation and show that IIS is responding with a 200. However, Wireshark running on DC01 shows three attempts by my workstation to open a connection -- three SYN packets, one initial attempt then two identical
retries -- over a period of about ten seconds, with no responses from DC01. If IIS is responding, the responses are getting lost sometime before they hit the NIC.
Bindings in IIS are correct, 8530 for http and 8531 for https.
Given that everything works fine when making a local connection, I think I can safely assume that WSUS itself is running properly, and the issue is related to IIS. Nonetheless, in the hopes of this simply being a failed install, I have uninstalled and reinstalled
both IIS and WSUS multiple times. (One thing to note, though I doubt it's related: WSUS consistently fails to set the path for the local update cache, failing the post-deployment configuration. I have to manually edit the UpdateServices-Services.xml file to
include the path for the local cache. Everything goes fine after I do that.)
I'm pretty stumped on this, and would happily accept any help. Thanks!

Fundamentally you have two issues here:
The first is the question of co-existence between WSUS and AD CS.
The second is whether this machine was a DC before, or after, you installed WSUS.
With Windows Server 2003 systems, running 'dcpromo' after installing IIS (and WSUS) would break IIS (and thus WSUS). With Windows Server 2012, installing WSUS with the AD DS role present results in a broken WSUS installation (if not an outright installation
failure). This is because on a WS2012 Domain Controller, there are GPO restrictions on "Log On As A Service" which impact the ability of certain LOCAL accounts to do so ... one of which being the Network Service which is required for WSUS and another local
use account, which is used for WID.
Regarding ports and IIS -- WSUS is designed to work on port 8530 by default on a Windows Server 2012 box. It can also be made to work on port 80, but you have to use the correct utilities and procedures to make that change. As for your observation
that "port 6000" seems to be a cutoff.... I'll (re)direct your attention to the installation of Active Directory Certificate Services, which I suspect is a contributing factor, and in general firewall configuration rules -- which are probably the most likely
culprit on the port range of 6000+ (not including 8530 which I promise you is open by a rule explicitly created by/for WSUS).
    So, here's my suggestion:
    Install the WSUS role first.
Install the AD DS role if you must (but Domain Controllers should not also be web or application server).
Install the AD CS role elsewhere.

    When writing your question
While trying to browse the internet the phone would not navigate to internet links on any page when the "hand" was displayed to select the link, depressing the track button would not navigate to the page.  I pulled the battery and things seemed to work fine for a few pages and then it went back to not responding.  I am browsing in the "internet exploer" and not firefox or blackberry explorer.
This phone is approximately 5 days old.  I have checked for software updates and there are none.

  • Huge Sized download taking place at port 8530 between clients and WSUS\SUP of secondary site

    Hi Guy's
Need a solution to the issue, the SCCM 2012 clients under a secondary site { Secondary site with SUP\WSUS } are downloading 200Mb + data at port 8530. This seems quite abnormal.
Need to know answer of below
1- Actual size of catalog what clients should download or path where on WSUS is stored
2- How to restrict a huge sized download between WSUS and CM 2012 client
This is not the case where clients are directly reporting to Primary size.
    Regards
    Sushain Kapoor
    Regards Sushain KApoor

    Hi Jason
Just a little clarity, will the client download information for a particular product or all the products selected in wsus.
Eg: Windows 7 systems will download the catalog information of Windows 7 only against selections made in WSUS. Or it will download the windows XP and windows vista and other product information also. This particular question i am asking as i see only 300
updates as found in windowsupdate.log and not the thousands synced in WSUS
Is the update metadata exported using the wsusutil.exe the actual catalog size what clients are downloading

  • New with questions

This is my first post.  Bought a Curve 8530 yesterday.  My first ever BlackBerry. Lovin the phone.  Got 2 things I would love to understand.
    1)  All my contacts are in Windows Contacts.  How can I sync them to my phone with Vista?
    2)  Is there a way to change all the icons to and from the desktop?
I'm sure I'll have a million questions soon but these are 2 for now.
Oh yeah.  Stayed up all night playing with the software that came with the phone (Desktop Manager and Roxio)  and just when I started getting the hang of it, got an update today and it was gone.  New software makes no sense to me and I don't know how or why i need to use it.  Any suggestions on what I'm supposed to do with this?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    1. Yes, use Desktop Manager > Sync. Set the configuration for the Sync to your Windows Contacts
    2. Change the icons how? Move them around > scroll to and don't click one in question > Menu key > Move, and you can scroll and click it to the location you want it to be. Menu > Move to Folder will place that icon in another folder (such as Applications, or say from the Applicatons folder to your homescreen.
You probably had Desktop Manager upgraded yesterday to DM v.6, which was released yesterday. I don't know what you mean by "it was gone".
You would benefit well from reading and practicing the 9700 tips from my buddy Mr. Stinsonddog.

The tips for the 9700 and 8530 are very very similar.

  • Elitebook 8530 sparekey problem after password recovery

    Hi,
I'm a bit panicking - but will try to make this lucid.
I very much hope you guys can help..
It's the continuation of a problem I asked yesterday somewhere else.
    http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/1133738-check-after-password-recovery.html
    Basic system information:
EliteBook 8530; runs on Vista Business. More details about system in above thread
    But for a short run-down:
    - Yesterday my user-password was not accepted.
    - Still had admin-access via fingerprints
    - Ran Malbytes anti-malware and AVG anti-virus - neither found much of anything.
    - Made new admin account, used that to reset my password.
    - Posted the above-mentioned topic whether someone could check for malicious processes.
    - Yesterday evening shut down the computer as normal
    - This morning it mentioned that recently a password had been reset [with some location I didn't know. Had my name in it twice, so perhaps root-password or something?
    - Only option was to click 'OK' and enter HP Sparekey.
    - Currently I have the following message: Some users have not enrolled for HP SpareKey recovery. Do you want to enroll now? Answer-options: Yes; No; Do not show again.
I don't know the implications or effects of any of them - so haven't done anything yet.
Note: I don't think any of the accounts have HP SpareKey enrolled. I have never seen about it previously.
However, I got my laptop via an university-program, so the operating systems etc. had been preinstalled.
It might be possible they installed ShareKey for the initial account - but I think I would've heard of that.
So please someone help me - I really don't know what to do..
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hey guys,
I don't want to hurry you or anything - but I could really need some advice here
Or should I be in a difference forum part; like http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-HP-ProBook-ZBook/bd-p/bsc-274 or http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Compaq-Elite-Pro/bd-p/bsc-271#.VBnV4lJIg1g
because it's an issue with an EliteBook?
Or don't you guys really know this particular problem either - and therefore can't advice?..

  • Problems syncing with Version 6.1 to Curve 8530. Multiple password requests

I am having trouble syncing my Curve 8530 to Bundle 34, Verson 6.1.0.35 Relased June 7 2011. I can get it to sync to MS outlook calendar and email but I have to enter my email password 6  or 7 different times every time I sync. I never had this problem until I updated to the new desktop software.  I wish I had not updated as the old version worked ok for me. Now I keep getting a pop up window wanting my password multiple times on every sync (and yes, I enter the correct password :-) I tried entering a wrong one just to see what would happen, and I immediately got a wrong password error, so all of the other times I am really entering the correct password. It seems it askes for the password everytime it snycs something different (media, email, calendar etc) during the sync process, and then again as it updates in the other direction. I have been doing this for a week now, ever since I updated the software. What a pain!

    Hey MBWKU,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
A few questions for you are you synchronizing with Outlook or Yahoo?  Also do you get prompt for a password during each item you sync, for example: 1 for address book, 1 for calendar etc.

  • My yahoo email was hacked into via my Blackberry 8530 Curve

My yahoo email was hacked into as I opened an email on my Blackberry 8530 curve.  They were able to change my email password, steal and delete my contact list, send all my contacts and email saying I was in London and desperately needed $1500 and set up an alternate email in Yahoo so that if some questioned the email requesting money they would reply it was really me.  Is there anything I can use to protect the Blackberry phone from this type of thing from happening.  Nortons phone security doesn't work with RIM  Thanks for any help

You should also know YAHOO was of now help at all in helping or even stopping this from going on.  They only respond with canned emails.

    richardcm wrote:
Thanks for the response.  No one else used my phone.  Unfortunately, I'm still skeptical of your conclusion.  I have disabled the yahoo e-mail through my Blackberry message center and changed the password on my yahoo e-mail account.  Fortunately, I have had no further occurrences over the past few days.  To regain some confidence in the security, I feel inclined to create a new yahoo e-mail account, add some contacts, enable it through my Blackberry message center and see if the same thing happens.  Any thoughts on that?
omg, your Yahoo account was hacked probably from India or China or Turkey, by running password code breaking software on the account. The hackers do this ALL day long and ALL night long across the internet guessing passwords combos.
It has nothing do with your BlackBerry. Your BlackBerry email data is encrypted. Your PC or internet connection to your Yahoo account is very likely not.
    Your "test" won't prove anything.

  • Curve 8530 and photos without media card?

An acquaintance replaced her Curve 8530 with a Droid and wants to get her photos off the Curve. She has never installed BB Desktop nor backed up her photos before. She claims she has no media card in it but I wonder if you can save photos without one and I'm not there to check out her phone myself right now.
So my 2 questions  are 1) If you do not add a micro-SD card, can you still take and store photos? (I wonder if she has a card and doesn't know it). And 2) If it is possible without a media card, how can she download her photos to her computer? (If it's a media card, I know what to do)
    TIA

To answer your questions, yes you can store photos without a media card.  There is a limited amount of memory available in the phone for media storage.  Without a media card, the easiest method would have been for her to email the photos to an account accessed on a PC.  Of course I am guessing that option is probably no longer available.
While I do not have a Curve 8530, I am guessing they came loaded with a micro SD card and your friend just doesn't realize it is there.  I also guess the new Droid has one that could be used to access the 8530 files if necessary.

  • Playlists On 8530 Curve

I've only had my BB 8530 Curve for a month, so I'm still on a steep learning curve.  One thing for sure, I DO NOT like the BB music player but so far have not found anything any better, so I'm struggling with using it.
First thing is creating a playlist. What a bummer - one song at a time from HUNDREDS copied to the handheld! What a bore. So, I created a one song playlist, plugged the BB in to my computer and using Windows Explorer (XP) copied the playlist to my hard drive.
I then opened the .m3u file with a text editor and noted the format of the one song entry. Since that time I've been MANUALLY creating and copying to the handheld MANY playlists.  I use the DIR command in a music directory, piping the result to a text file. Then using the text editor (NoteTab Light) I block delete the info I don't need, change the SPACES in song names to %20, and add the file path info from my test file, such as :file:///SDCard/AEH%20Music/barbershop/ changing the "barbershop" to whatever playlist name I desire.  It's been a real pain in the tush, but I'm 80% finished.
A remaining problem I can't find an answer to is how to select RANDOM songs to play from a playlist. It seems to be one at a time or all and if there's another method of selection I can't find it here, the BB forums or the user manual.
On my Palm Treo I used to use Pocket Tunes (pocket-tunes.com) but they don't have a version for the Blackberry operating system. Sigh...

I misunderstood your original question. I didn't realize you wanted to play only certain songs within your playlist.. NOT random songs in any order. I'm sorry, unfortunately there is not a way to play music the way you're attempting.
