BB 8530

HELLO

because is different from the others..
is it possible or do i need to change it?
thanks

Sorry, the 8530 does not accept SIM cards.
The 8530 is a pure CDMA network device with no need for SIM card.

  • Metro PCS 8530 No Longer Connects to Blackberry Servers

I have the Q10 which I love. Wife has a 8530 which she loves. She basically just wants voice, BBM, and email. It works great for her.
Her 8530 went wacked the other day. Phone turned on and worked fine except it would connect to nothing. We got Metro PCS foriegn support which was just wonderful (not). So mechanically the phone seemed to function fine but she couldn't make a call, get or send texts, etc.
Metro PCS says phones need to be reset sometimes (whatever). So they got "their end" working again. She can now call, do text messenging (not BBM), and get internet (not with the BB browser though).
Everything works for the most part but she no longer gets BBM or email through Blackberry.
Metro PCS says those are Blackberry issues and gave us a BB number to call. We haven't tried that yet.
The signal seems ok with all caps 1XEV. Also she CAN get email through BB and BBM when on WiFi.
For the most part I have a feeling Metro PCS is messed up. But I don't know enough about phones to back it up with Metro PCS. I also know with the TMobile merger they are phasing out CDMA phones but they are suppose to still work here in the metro Detroit area.
So anyone been through this? Any advice on how to proceed? She's planning on getting a new phone, but she doesn't really want one. She likes hers. If we can avoid that it would be great. Wouldn't mind ditching Metro PCS though. I still have my old 8530 from MetroPCS before I jumped to Sprint. I wonder if that might be useful to compare settings? I don't think she will pay the money for a BB this time either, she'll probably go as cheap as possible Anyway Halp! Thanks!

    Is there another Blackberry forum?

  • Curve 8530 SMS Text Problems

My Curve 8530 will receive and send SMS texts ok for a while.  Then, for no reason, I cannot click on an sms and open it.  It will not show the previous texts.  I cannot open the txt to make a reply.  I took this to Verizon, he checked it and said there was definitely a problem, of course didn't have another phone, so ordered me one.  A few days later I got a new (or probably refurbished) 8530.  It's doing the same thing.  So this is either a defect in the phone line or in the software for SMS text messages.  I am very disappointed with Blackberry.  I have had several of their phones, try to keep up with the newest technology even though it always costs me hundredes of dollars for the phones.  I think this will be my last.  If I cannot get this problem resoloved, I am switching to AT&T.

I got two of these phones and they both are doing it. I do a significant amount of work related texting on my main line 8530... I have to pull the battery anywhere from 5 to 10 times per day. I have contacted Verizon and I'm sending these 8530s back and replacing them with what I had before; the MUCH better, more professional and stable 8330.
I used my 8330 non-stop for 3 years. Never once had a problem with the trackball (Verizon told me the 8530 fixed the trackball problem---???)... Additionally, in the 3 years of using my 8330 non-stop, I may have had to pull the battery twice, from a lock up. Both times it was when I was actively using Internet, teathered to my laptop and an incoming call came. When I'd answer it, the call would work and when I'd hang up, the phone would crash...
The 8330 sold me on the Blackberry OS... The 8530 acts more like a Windows OS, IMHO.
    A very dissatisfying experience.

  • WiFi issues with Curve 8530

    Hi,
I am having major WiFi issues with my Curve 8530. Everytime I connect to my wireless router, it takes a long time to connect to BIS, and then if I try to use basically any data at all, my router drops my Curve 8530. Sometimes it stays connected, but I cannot use App World at all, and email, and web browsing is all over the place in terms of speed, sometimes it is fast, while sometimes it is slow, and most of the time it stalls while loading a page. How do I configure my router for use with BIS and have it not drop my Curve 8530 everytime I use data over WiFi? BIS works perfectly over my cellular carriers network, so BIS is activated on my device. I have tried giving my BB a static IP, but that did not solve anything. My router is a Netgear WNR2000. Also, I have the latest device software installed on my BB, and all of my apps are up-to-date.

    Hi,
Have you had any luck and resolving your problem?
We have a similar problem but it's with iOS devices where only one can connect at a time. We have about 10 that need to connect. All other laptops and tablets connect fine.
Power cycling the AX411 fixes it temporarly.

  • How do I downgrade the OS on my BB 8530?

A couple days ago I upgraded my OS from 5.0.0.886 to 5.0.0.973 and I absolutely hate it. My speaker makes a loud popping noise seconds before any ringtone or alert goes off, which is completely annoying. I lost the option to delete email in my gmail mailbox and now have to delete it from my device, then go online to delete it from my mailbox which defeats the purpose of my getting the phone to begin with. My Turn Power Off app also no longer works leaving me with no way to fully power off my device.
I tried to use a backup I made from last week, prior to the OS update, but that didn't work. I tried to go to the Verizon website but I could only get the most recent OS which is what I have and desperately want rid of.
Could someone please tell me step-by-step how to get OS v5.0.0.886 back on my Verizon BB Curve 8530? Also, is there a way to downgrade back to 5.0.0.886 without losing my ringtones, music, etc?
Someone told me to follow the steps here.. http://crackberry.com/how-downgrade-your-blackberrys-operating-system, but I can't even make it past step 1 as my "Add and Remove Programs" shows nothing that is installed on my device itself. BTW, I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OS if that makes any difference.
Please help! I'm frustrated beyond belief and don't know what to do. I've been dealing with this since Sunday and every time I manage to get one thing fixed, something else screws up. I just want my old OS back
Thanks in advance to those who reply and please use dummy terms as I have no idea what I'm doing !
    ~JavaBrat~

Ok, here's a full set of steps.  Follow them to the letter and you will be successful.
    1.  On your computer, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    2.  If you see something that says "BlackBerry Device Software v5.0.0. for the BlackBerry 8530" uninstall it.  You may or may not have it depending on how you have updated your device in the past.  The reason you want to do is so that any other versions of the device software that you have installed on your computer do not interfer with the downgrade.
    3.  Download the old OS from Verizon from here: http://appstore.vzw.com.edgesuite.net/download/firmware/BB8530MR3/8530AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel1493_PL4.2.0....
    4.  Install this file to your computer.  This will extract all of the files that will be used to downgrade your device.  Note: while you can upgrade on the device using the Wireless Update, you cannot downgrade that way.
    5.  Once the OS version has been installed to your computer, plug in your BlackBerry, open the BlackBerry Desktop Software and back up your BlackBerry.  Once this is done, close the BlackBerry Desktop Software (I'm going to get you do the downgrade using a method that is much less likely to give you any problems).
    6.  On your computer, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader and double click on the Loader.exe file to run it.
    7.  Follow the steps to downgrade your OS.  (Press Next until you reach the area where you select what is to be installed - you can check or uncheck anything that you do or don't want installed).  If you are prompted by a message confirming that you want to downgrade, make sure to select the option to downgrade.
    8.  The loader will downgrade your device OS.  Do not unplug it from the computer until the device has fully rebooted.
    9.  Restore your data and redownload any missing applications as necessary.
That's it.  Follow those steps exactly and I can pretty much guarantee you'll be successful.
If you want to thank someone for their comment, do so by clicking the Thumbs Up icon.

  • Lost all contacts on Curve 8530

I recently downloaded a new version of Skype mobile to my blackberry and after restarting all of my contacts disappeared.  I can only add one contact to my address book, but it repeats 5 times.  I end up with the same name repeated 5 times and when I delete one they all disappear.  Attempts to restored address book from back ups using BB Desktop Manager fail loading the address book.

  • Curve 8530 no longer works

My Curve 8530 decided to overheat and kill the hardware on my phone. I can replace the battery, but it immediately dies.
I walk into US Cellular to their service center to see whats up, I am told this is an issue that has created headaches for many people, yet I didn't know about it. Apparently, I was supposed to know about the SOFTWARE UPDATE via FACEBOOK. That software update was supposed to fix this hardware update.
So, since this update was only known to the public via facebook, many people are losing their phones and having to turn around and buy a new or a used phone. I will have to do the same, but it won't be a Blackberry. Horrible customer service on both ends. I should have known about the issue either by bill, or phone call. A phone call is apparently illegal but yet they can call me telling me they updated my voice mail.
See ya RIM - I had a good 13 months, but if you can't create a product to last longer than a 2 year contract. You just aren't good enough. STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT.
And you wonder why you have fallen out of the runnings for the best smartphone as of late.

    Hey Browndot513,
In this case we can try to reload the software on the BlackBerry smartphone to make sure it is running the latest version and there are no issues with the OS.
Here is how to backup your BlackBerry smartphone http://bbry.lv/oPVWXc
Once you have backed up your BlackBerry smartphone please follow the link below to complete a clean reload of the BlackBerry smartphone software.

  • Sync 8530 with Windows 7 Dell device

My computer crashed (I had a Dell with Win 7) and was able to sync with my 8530 curve. I installed the Blackberry Desktop Software on my new computer, and the computer will not connect with the 8530. I can't get anyone at Blackberry, and I just tried Verizon my carrier, and they sent me to a Blackberry message that sent me to the support site where all this started. I am in an endless loop. Any one have ideas?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Unfortunately, from a symptom report of merely "will not connect", I can do nothing other than a "shotgun" approach...
Here is the list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:

KB16310 Media Transfer Protocol and the BlackBerry Storm smartphone
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Desktop-Software/Desktop-Manager-quot-disconnected...
Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
    Hopefully something there is helpful!

  • Address Book Sync Problems - 8530 and Outlook 2007

This has been a nagging problem for me for quite some time.  Here's my current status:
    Curve 8530 on Verizon Wireless
Access to Corporate resources and email via BES
I also access Gmail from the device
Right now I am not synching over the air - that has never worked.  I'm using Desktop Manager, and recently downgraded to Version 5.01.  When I connect the device and configure for Address Book sync the application starts the process, then craps out without synching.  I've rebooted the PC, reloaded the application without success.
And right now the device's address book is blank.  Any ideas?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Given that you are on BES, why in the world are you putting up with it's non-functionality? With BES, you should be receiving Over the Air (OTA) sync of email, contacts, calendar, tasks, etc...no need whatsoever to synchronize to Outlook via USB tether. If that is not working, then you should do one of two things:
    1) Talk to your BES admins and have them get it working properly for you...you are missing a lot!!!
    -- OR --
    2) Talk to your carrier about changing your data plan and dropping BES -- you are paying extra for a service that you cannot even use!!
Once you decide which path you wish to pursue, let us know.
    Good luck!

  • 8530 bluetooth setup in Windows 7 home premium 64bit

Hi, I recently switched from windows xp pro 32bit, where my Bluetooth setup was flawless, to Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit.  My laptop sees the bluetooth phone and adds it.  It shows up under devices and on my curve the PC shows up under bluetooth devices.   BUT, under windows, no services are installed for the phone.  all information for the phone shows as unavailable and nothing populates under the serverices tab.  I have installed blackberry DTM and downloaded and installed modem and usb drivers for my curve 8530 and deleted the device over and over, but everytime, no services will be installed.  There are no yellow exclamation points anywhere or under device manager.

    No issues.
On the contrary, subject to the image(s) being edited, Photoshop will thrive in a 64 bit Win 7 machine given the right tweaks.

Be aware that two versions of Photoshop will be installed 32 bit and 64 bit. The 32 bit is there for legacy reasons with some plugins e.g. TWAIN scanner

  • Can't switch from old Blackberry 8703e to new 8530

I installed the Blackberry Desktop Software.  I connected the 8703e and the 8530 and tried to switch.  The 8530 will shut off during the switch process.  Then I get a fatal error from the BDS.  Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong.  Is it because one is sooo old and one is soooo new?  Thanks.

I don't think the replacement process will be any more complicated than you expect. However, if you want to keep your old Time Machine backup files, you'll have to move them from the old Time Capsule to the new. The current advice seems to be that this is best done by copying the backup image(s) from the old Time Capsule to an external disk, then copying from the external disk to the new Time Capsule. As far as the best way to perform the copying, I believe I saw a recommendation to use Disk Utility's "restore" function.

  • My 8530 does not display images in the browser

My bb 8530 a few weeks ago suddenly stopped displaying images in the browser. Browser options are set to "display images". I've power cycled many times, even reset and wiped, but still no images in browser. How can I fix this? Thanks.

hi i have noticed the same problem. also with Chrome and FP ver 11.5.31.2and Firefox and Safari with FP 11.5.502.110
it seems that MovieClipLoader class not returning onLoadInit event. I use to add a fadein function on loadInit to fade in the loaded images. with the latest Flash PLayer versions this is not activated so you cannot see the loaded images.
I have tested this on 3 different systems and the problem is the same. I have not updated my FP for IE. There, the older FP still works well.

  • Japanese input on Curve 8530?

    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone here knows how to add Japanese as an input language for the 8350.
I've done some searches on google but everything was from 2008 or early 2009 and pertained to other models.  Currently, my Blackberry can read (render) Japanese text but it doesn't come up as an option under input.
I tried reinstalling my Desktop Manager with Japanese as the language but when I did, many of the menus (but not all - mostly the title bars of the 6 options on the main menu) came up as "???????????????" and not in Japanese.  And yes, I do have the East Asian languages installed on my computer and am able to input Japanese on my computer.
If anyone has any solutions or knows anything, your help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    v5.0.0.459 (Platform 4.2.0.201)

    Hi,
We use at our firm 8707V and I downloaded the same firmware for Japanese Character Support.
We also have offices across in European town such as Frankfurt and Paris.
We did try number of devices to achive the Japanese Character Support, however none from European 8707 devices works.
What we found is that 8707 model with only QWERTY model works with the firmware but not with any other K/B such one you can obtain in German and France.

  • 8530 doesn't connect to MacBook Pro

When I connect my BB8530 to my MacBook,  Blackberry desktop manager doesn't see it. It seems to be the same whether connecting via bluetooth or by USB Cable. Any suggestions? I've tried a hard reboot

    sbradt,
I wish I could help you. I don't own a Mac, but you might want to check out Boot camp or Parallels as a workaround (vitualization). If you want to get your phone upgraded to the latest you can upgrade it over the air (BlackBerry OS 5.0.0.508). It does take about an 40 minutes or more. Verizon or RIM has an update. I've had it for 2 days and things seem better. Battery life does appear to do better when doing lots of things. Browser is faster. Keep us posted about your fix. I'm sure others have a 8530 and a Mac.

    Hi,
I cannot view HTML emails on my Blackberry Curve 8530, but when I go to email options, HTML is selected. Why isn't it working?

    Hi
    Maybe the device needs resetting
The Blackberry is designed to be reset by removing the battery whilst the device is powered-on. Leave the battery out for a minute or 2.
See if that resolves the problem.
