BB 8830 vibrates for no reason

My 8830 suddenly started vibrating frequently this morning, but I have no new messages, voice mails or calendar appointments. For awhile it was doing it every 5 minutes, at least I thought it was once every 5. Right now it's doing it at 4 minutes, then 1 minute, then 4, then 1, etc. It's bizarre. I checked future appointments and deleted the reminders in case there were really advanced reminders set. Didn't work. I've checked and closed the browser, so that's not running in the background. I've also checked other applications to make sure there's nothing running in the background. I also removed and reinserted the battery twice. I've Googled but haven't been able to find anything helpful. One site mentioned WeatherBug weather alerts might do it, but I don't have WB installed.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Well, I noticed that a lot of people are complaining about this but no one has an answer for this. I noticed it happening more within the last three weeks when I did a software upgrade. I used to love my Blackberry but if this does not get resolved within the next while I'm canceling everything and going towards Iphone.

I have a strange, similar problem with my new iphone 3G - it will just start vibrating (mild, not like a full vibrate for an incoming call). It does this for no apparent reason and appears to last about 30 seconds or so and then stops, again for no reason. This was happening one time when a call came in (it started before the call). I answered the call and the vibration made it difficult to hear clearly until it stopped midway through the call.

Try a Restart and a Reset...

Vibrating for no reason

Hi, I have the Blackberry Curve 8330. I've had it for almost two years. For the past two days, my phone has been vibrating and light has been blinking, but there are no notifications or any reason for my phone to be vibrating. Why is this happening?

Also, when I try to reset factory settings, it says "End all active calls and connections first" - I've turned off Bluetooth and there are no other applications running, so why can't I reset??

IPhone 5 vibrated for no reason while plugged to charger

I have a small problem (?) with my 1 week old iPhone 5. I have noticed yesterday that when phone was plugged to the charger
it vibrated once with no reason. Vibration was the same kind like when you switch the phone to the silent mode. The phone was on a table and when
it vibrated, it did not turn screen on or show other notifications of any received or updated data. I have also checked all possible apps for any updates but no new messages in Whatsapp, facebook or any other app.
I have seen some topics where problem was that email was on automatic update and phone vibrated upon arrival of new mail but my automatic update of email has been turned off since the day 1 and in my case this is not the problem.
Phone was not on silent mode or connected to any other device by bluetooth or airplay.
When I connected it to the charger, it came up with normal connection sound. I left it on the desk charging and this vibration appeared suddenly after the phone was connected for some time 30-60mins and completely untouched.
Do you have any advice what else this might be?

it could be a software problem but it could as easy be a hardware defect
a restart would likely be 1 of 2 things
1 a software error that the ios operating system can't handle and it makes it restart to try and fix it rather then deleting everything in it's storage which in many ways would be a much worse way of trying to deal with an error
2. a hardware defect which result in 1 as the software try to do something which fail huge! because the hardware is broken not as much because the software is

Vibrates for no reason

Sometime when I power down my phone and power it back up right before it shows the home screen it vibrates twice......is it supposed to do that because i just recently noticed it and it doesn't happen all the time only sometimes

If your profile isn't set to vibrate you should not get vibration.
I've had this occur with my E72 a couple of times (Small vibrations, similar to the one when the phone is booting) but it is very rare. Possibly a firmware bug.
I suggest you hard-reset your phone if that is happening a lot, perhaps it helps (especially if it is caused by some rogue app you installed).

After vibrating for no reason the phone turns blank!

Iphone 4s vibrates for no reason after IOS8 update

Since I updated to IOS8, my iphone 4s will vibrate, like I got a text or notification. When I look, there is nothing. No new message, no new email, no missed call. Nothing. It has happened at least 5 times already and I just updated late last night. I am tracking the times to see if it happens on a schedule or has any pattern. Anyone else experience this on any iphone on IOS8?

In my iPhone 4s updated with ios8, if I check the mail app and receive new email the phone will vibrate only after few seconds. If I stay some time in the app I can relate the vibration to the new received email, but sometimes I only check the new email, turn off the device and put it in my pocket. Then eventually the phone will vibrate. I think that a new message was received but, in fact is a late new email vibration... Is that the case?

Way to disable vibrate for a specific contact's incoming calls only?

My iPhone is not jailbroken, so I am unable to use iBlacklist to black or ignore incoming calls. So instead I've edited the contact in question to have a silent ringtone.
However, in general I prefer to have both ring and vibration on for all incoming calls, since I'm often in loud areas where I can't hear the ringtone.
But the reason that I want to block this particular contact is because it calls me at all sorts of weird hours, thus the vibration wakes me up. So not being able to disable vibration for this contact in addition to the ringtone is a problem for me.
Is there any way that I can not only make the ringtone silent, but also disable vibration for this specific contact - and only this contact? Perhaps some app, or a setting that I'm unaware of?

Check with your carrier. Many have the ability to block calls from certain numbers. Many do have a cost associated with them though.

Why is my Apple ID being locked out every time I go to use it? I haven't even attempted to log in for about 4 or 5 days, but today on my first attempt to do so, it said my account had been locked for security reasons. This is the third time.

I only sign in to iTunes' store about once a week or so. But during each of my last 3 attempts (on different days, several days apart) on my first attempt to enter my password and hit submit, I am immediately told that my Apple account has been locked for security reasons and it wants to take me to a page to reset my 'forgotten' password. I am using the CORRECT password.
Perhaps someone else is trying to break into my account or is mis-entering theirs but my account should not be getting locked like this. It is very frustrating to have to go through the reset password procedure each and every time I want to go into the store. It seems to me that Apple really doesn't want me to buy any more apps from them as they keep refusing me entry into my own account, each and every time I have tried to use it, for the past few weeks. I am not their best customer, but they aren't giving me much of a welcome invitation to become one, if I'm going to be treated like this.
I just bought my iPhone 4 less than 2 months ago. I paid extra money to upgrade early, just to get this phone because it was so highly recommended by everyone I spoke with in different stores (BestBuy and Verizon). I even bought the 2 year upgrade to my Apple services in case I needed to ever call them, and so far I haven't had to, yet. But I definitely will call them if this isn't straightened out.
It looks like this other user could be tracked and an email could be sent to them from Apple to let them know what they are doing - trying to sign into the wrong account, and are locking somebody else out of their own account because of their error....and to remind them of their correct information or how to get it and to write it down or save it somewhere so they don't keep on doing this.
I have seen literally DOZENS of other people in these discussions with exactly the same issue that I'm having so it is NOT an isolated incident, and it seems to be a growing problem as Apple's sales and user base continues to grow, so this problem is seriously needing to be addressed in some way, and soon, before they start losing new customers because of it. If I was still within my original 14 day return period with this phone, I would definitely be returning it and buying an Android model because of how frustrating this is to me. If my bank was doing this to me, I'd have already switched banks by now if they hadn't fixed it - just to give an example of how I feel about this.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

I would say to start by looking on their web site... unfortunately, that appears to be dead.
Based on the horrible ratings on the App Store (1 star for the current version), I'm not surprised it doesn't work well.

I have tried to sync my Iphone with my current Itunes and for some reason not all of my music is transferring to my Iphone. Some songs that were on my phone previously, are now not transferring. Any ideas?

iTunes will only copy back iTunes purchased music. If you don't still have a copy of the music that you copied from CDs or bought from other stores anywhere (e.g. on another computer or on your backup of your library) then there are some third-party programs listed half-way this page which should be able to copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Yes it sounds like you have a corrupted preference file.
The setting you make in individual programs get saved to a Preference file in your Users/Library/Preferences folder.
All you have to do is drag out the old file to the desktop, reboot and load the program and the preference file gets rebuilt without your preferences which you reset.
For your case I beleive the preference file is
com.apple.desktop.plist
