BB 9790 firmware download problem via Desktop software

Hi , i am using desktop software to download firmware 7.1 for BB 9790 and i always have a problem of the firmware download bombing out at around 95 percent of the total download, and the error says my i must check my internet but there is nothing wrong with my internet.
i have loaded the latest Desktop software but still get the same error, Help!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You can bypass the Desktop Software automated download by, outside of the Desktop Software, first downloading, from the official download portal, the OS package you desire:
http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
Then, install that package to your PC. (If the package is from other than your carrier, you will need to delete the VENDOR.XML files.) Now run the Desktop Software and it should offer you this specific BB OS update.
Good luck!

  • Updating apps on Torch 9800 via desktop software v 6

    Hey, is it possible to update downloaded apps on my BB Torch 9800 using the desktop software v6.0.1?
    I've looked all over, but can only update the installed apps via appworld on the device itself which has caused problems in the past..
    Any help would be greatly appreciated...
    Cheers

    Yes, it is. When you go to purchase or download an app in AppWorld via the AppWorld PC catalog, you will be given an options to install via a connection from your, and your PC will download and install a plugin to enable that.

  • Application Loader Via Desktop Software

    Hi All
    Ive just got my 1st Blackberry (8120), after using Nokia's for many years, and so far so good
    I downloaded the latest version of the desktop software, and im trying to upload things by the application loader such as themes.
    however i have already got the theme, and the Opera mini browser but the appliction wants to remove what ive already installed on my phone even if i take out the tick box on the applications it wants to remove and I have deslected "erase all currently installed applications" in the options menu.
    Why does the application installer insist on removing any prev installed files, does anyone know a way around this - many thanks
    Ste

    Try this to put the software on device..
    Open DTM - then application loader. on the first screen, connect the blackberry WITH THE BATTERY OUT.
    Leave it for up to 3 mins till you see the pin number flash under connections.
    Then press next and then replacement the battery.
    The follow the steps found Here.
    This of course will only work if you actually have the Device software installed to the computer as well.
    To check if you do, open up desktop Manager - Help - About Desktop Manager - Click Device Software Tab.
    In here you should see the software installed to the pc listed.
    If not, go to http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/do ... _sites.jsp to download the software specific for your carrier/device.
    Failing all this, your carrier should have escalated the call to RIM to do a javaload over the phone with you before they authorised a replacement device. Oh well not to worry.
    RIM do a javaload when the application loader won't recognise the device, with or without the battery in it.
    Also make sure there is no other power going to usb devices and if a laptop, have it plugged into ac power.
    Good luck and let us know how you go!
    If your issue is resolved, put a checkmark in the green box that contains the resolution.

  • Problem with Desktop software

    I am developing an application that uses the desktop software USB COM interface to the device. I noticed in task manager the handle count of the BBDevMgr.exe module grows. At first I thought it was a problem in my application but I also noticed the same behavior while just have the Desktop application active.
    Is this a known problem? I noticed the performance of my application decreases over time and believe it is related to this.
    I am running 4.7.

    ENGLISH:
    SOLVED: Hi, here's the fix. I've had this problem since Version 5 and it's the same problem in each of the versions. In Setup.ini, RIM put this line:
    CmdLine=/l*v %TEMP%\BB_Desktop.log SETUPEXEFLAG=1
    See where the problem is? %TEMP% could have spaces in it. Thus the install bombs out. To correct, edit line to look like this:
    CmdLine=/l*v "%TEMP%\BB_Desktop.log" SETUPEXEFLAG=1
    Or
    CmdLine=/l*v C:\Windows\Temp\\BB_Desktop.log" SETUPEXEFLAG=1
    ...Cheers from Ciudad Bolivar - Venezuela
    P.S. I appreciate if you tell us about your experience using this solution.
    ESPAÑOL:
    RESUELTO: Hola, aquí está la solución. He tenido este problema ya que desde la versión 5 es el mismo problema en cada una de las versiones. En el archivo SETUP.INI, RIM colocó esta línea:
    CmdLine=/l*v %TEMP%\BB_Desktop.log SETUPEXEFLAG=1
    ¿Ya ven dónde está el problema? %TEMP% podría tener espacios en él. Así que la instalación estalla. Para corregirlo, editen la línea para que se parezca a ésta:
    CmdLine=/l*v "%TEMP%\BB_Desktop.log" SETUPEXEFLAG=1
    ó también
    CmdLine=/l*v C:\Windows\Temp\\BB_Desktop.log" SETUPEXEFLAG=1

  • Installation problem - BB Desktop Software 6.0.1 - msiexec.exe

    Hi! My name is Alex and I come from Greece.
    At the beginning of installation and after the country choice I get this message from the windows installer :
    AppName: msiexec.exe  AppVer: 4.5.6001.22159  ModName: msihnd.dll
    ModVerQ 3.1.4001.5512  OffsetQ 00036935
    And the technical informations of  the report are :
    Are there any suggestions?
    Thank's!

    Yes, that would be confusing. If memory serves me correctly (no guarantee of that!!), XP was built on the NT kernel, so perhaps the RIM error message is making inquiry about your system at a different level. But I've no idea further than that...
    Perhaps if you tried an older version of the RIM software? You can download supported versions here:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
    If you install, remove, reinstall a bit, sometimes things get messed up. Here is a KB that discusses a clean uninstall procedure:
     KB02206How to perform a clean uninstall of the BlackBerry Desktop Software
    Also make sure you are logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights...sometimes that makes a difference as well.
    Good luck!

  • Unable to update to OS 6.0 Bundle 2647 either wirelessly or via Desktop Software for Mac

    I have a BB Torch 9800 and I've tried all I know to update the system software on my BB wirelessly but it gives me the message "Update cannot continue, Update using BB Desktop Manager on your computer". So I plugged my BB in but it doesn't give me a prompt or anything to update and I'm not sure what's wron. Help please!

    Hello azureJTR,
    I'm not sure if you have solved your issue yet or not...
    To update your BlackBerry's operating system on a Mac is a simple procedure but you can only upgrade to the level that your wireless carrier has released to. I see you're using Bell and they are usually quick to update their offerings.
    Follow this guide item:
    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/32688/Update_device_applications_2.0_Mac...
    New available versions of the BlackBerry's OS are shown when you click the "Show Other Versions" button. (Your BlackBerry needs to be connected for the Desktop software to know both what applications you have installed and the Operating System).
    If a newer version than the one you currently have loaded is available in that menu, then do a backup then highlight the item then follow the onscreen commands.

  • How to download and install application via desktop software?

    Hello everybody.
    I'd like to know how to download and then, install applications on my Bold 9700 using desktop manager (version 6.1).
    Can someone enlighten me about it please?

    The easiest way to install apps is to use either App World on your phone (available from mobile.blackberry.com if not installed on your phone) or via the web front end of App World (http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/) , plugging your phone in via USB.

  • Nokia E90 firmware download problem

    Hi - I'm trying to update my Nokia E90 firmware from 210.34.75 to 300.34.84 and the 81.9MB file downloads perfectly (in under 3 minutes) until it gets to 60.3MB and then stops. Any ideas? I've un-installed the entire PC Suite and its add-ons, an no luck. Any ideas? Thanks, Ian.

    I also had trouble downloading the software upgrade (from version 7.xx to version 300.34.84) for my E90. I tried three times before it actually begun to download - upon which, the download and upgrade went by successfully. I agree that the upgrade - even from my very old/early firmware - was almost completely pointless. Some of the trouble I'm having now is with the Download! folder, specifically the Applications subfolder - it does not update it's context - actually, it's totally unaccessible. Also, the Windows Live Application no longer works - and I'm unable to download a fresh copy.
    I backed up all the data on the phone prior to the firmware upgrade - as required for the retention of software certificates and data.
    Symbian connected me to the world, to my dreams.. Thank-you Nokia

  • Input language support software download for the Desktop software

    Phew, that's a mouthful.
    Hello! I've got my nifty 8310 with me on a three month trip to China, but it won't recognize any Chinese characters. This is becoming quite a bother, as there have been numerous things I've had to decipher through mainly guesswork.
    Could someone point me to a link or website where I could possibly download the software needed to add a new input language (if that's what I need), or perhaps even display language?
    Thanks in advance.
    Peace, love and monkey grease,
    Zack

    You may go to th Setup wizard to change the language options as Chinese, doinh so, you then can read chinese of course and have no problem showing english on you device at the same time

  • ZEN MICRO FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD PROBLEM! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

    I've had my 6gb micro for a little over 2 wks..and i wanted to download the free 30 day Napster to go offer that came with my package..and one of the steps before downloading Napster was updating Zen Micro's firmware..well i tried and it downloaded and after it asked me to select my language, i got a message saying: "your player's not connected, please connect your player" and my mp3 was hooked up through the USB..so i tried reconnecting and it still said the same...so at this time i skipped over updating this firmware and downloaded my subscription to Napster anyway...everything was working fine..i was downloading songs in Napster and syncing them with windows media player 0 which i already had on my comp...but about 5 days ago, my syncs began to start failing often...and I'm sure that i need these firmware updates for my mp3 to transfer files successfully but the problem is that my mp3 is not being recognized every time i try to install these firmware updates.... I'm quite stumped at this point.....DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY HELP THEY CAN OFFER ME.. ID GREATLY APPRECIATE IT by the way the firmware version that came with my player and is currently on it is 2.20.05

    The firmware version you have is fine for Napster tracks, so you don't need to update. If your transfers are failing, there's something else going on.

    You might need to do a clean uninstall of Palm Desktop, followed by reinstallation.  Clean unininstall instructions can be found in the Windows Hotsync board in the top "stickied" section.
    Then, reinstall either version 4.2 (from here:  http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palmone.com/700p_PDT42.exe (double secret) )  or version 4.1.4E from the Palm support site.
    This really goes in the Windows Hotsync board to where I am moving this thread.
