BB Bold 9650 update .732 battery problem

I've had this new BB Bold 9650 for a couple weeks since the stores don't seem to carry the Tour anymore. But either way, it wasn't a signal hound but worked fine and battery life was good. But after the .732 update it's still no signal hound but now my battery is dieing after 8 Hrs...of no use!
So since the battery was fine before the update, I'd say it's not a bad device. And I've never had problems in my location with other VZW phones, I'm guessing with the update this device is really working hard to maintain a connection?

I would also appreciate the download url. I am having the same issues, constantly going from 3G to 1X. Charge battery all night, and don't use it very much during the day but it only has one bar left that same night. My 8703 for work keeps a charge for 3 days and I am constantly on the phone and emailing with it.
Thanks.
Hi,
Taterbug, I sent you a PM giving you the URL for the .699 file.  I did find out one thing.  I performed a clean install of my Bold with the 5.0.0.732 upgrade and it seems to be stable for the moment.  The battery drain has gone and the signal issues have leveled out.  I did a wipe of my device and loaded the .732 OS on my Bold and for the past 4 days it has been doing well.  One thing I have found is that when I have WiFi going along with the mobile network too, the battery will drain very fast...in a matter of a few hours.  I don't know if the clean install did anything different or not, but for now, for me, all seems to be ok.  I just thought I would report this to you all.  Any changes, and I will report here.

Hi! I updated my Mozilla Firefox to new version(Mac OS X), and now in some pages all texts is in '''bold'''. Where is the problem? Thanks!

Did you do a font check in Font Book?
Be aware that a default encoding of UTF-16 as shows in your screenshot may lead to problems.<br />
The default is Western (ISO-8859-1) and you should change the default encoding to that setting unless you have changed that deliberately to UTF-16 for specific web pages, but even in that case it is better to make the change via View > Character Encoding or set Auto-Detect to Universal or UTF-16.

  • Blackberry Bold 9650 OS 6 update email setup error

Hi All, I recently updated my Blackberry Bold 9650 to operating system 6. Ever since I can not access the email setup on the phone!  I contacted verizon and they said they have had numerous calls on this. They had no fix except to go online to the VZW/Blackberry site to manage my email accounts. Does anyone have a solution to this error/bug? I used to be able to do this from the phone prior to the update! Thanks!!

    Hi,
It sounds like you need to reload your device's software.  Before you do anything else, backup your data with Blackberry Desktop Software.  Make sure you have any serial numbers, etc of any 3rd party apps written down.  When you are ready, perform a security wipe of your device.  To perform the security wipe, do the following:
Go to Options and press the trackpad.
Go to Security and press the trackpad.
Go to Security Wipe and press the trackpad.
Now, select the data you wish to delete.  I recommend placing a check in the boxes beside everything except Media Card.
Type the word 'blackberry' without quotation marks in the blank space provided.
Select Wipe Data and press the trackpad.  This will initiate the wipe process.
The whole process can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on how much data you have and if it is encrypted.  Your device might restart a few times or may appear not to be doing anything, but do not stop the precess.  Once it has completed, you will be alerted.  You can then reload any of your personal data or 3rd party apps.  You may not want to do this unless you have 2 or 3 hours to spend.  Hope this helps.

Hi, after updating my iphone since 2 weeks back now i am facing a battery problem i charce fully my iphone and by the end of the day my iphone shuts down it needs to be charged again and if i didi some calles it leaks after few hours. Please adivse me what to do.

I final piece for me in the jigsaw following on from this
    http://www.care4pcs.co.uk/2012/10/how-to-be-happy-gmail-user-on-iphone-or.html
is to turn off wifi when you do not need it. When I leave the house I turn off wifi, because the majority of the times when my iPhone has got very hot and crashed is when I am away from home. I suspect that if the iPhone is in the vicinity of public wifi (wheather secure or not secure) it will try and connect, even if you have 'automatically join known networks' set to off. This is easy of course if you have an unlimited data contract for your iPhone. I may be wrong, but it is working for me. It makes sense for me because it is another way of reducing the work the processor (and battery) has to do and therefore reduces the chance of overheating.
Having said that, I never had this problem with my iPhone 4. I now have a 4S.
Try it. Hope it works for you.

sir since update of ios 8.1.2 i got serious battery problem on 3g 4.30 hrs my battery gets low and sometimes serious net probelms please give an update for this issue its not alone me my friends too getting many problem commonly battery problem please can this be resolved
its not related to any hardware because last year april i got replacement new phone from apple and i maintained it well...!

Probably apps running in the background are causing this, sometimes Mail get's stuck connecting to the mail server, or some social media app like Facebook can also be a reason for prolonged background activity.
Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:

  • Battery problems on latest update

    Dear All,
I just did the latest update tonight on my iPod Touch 5th generation and suddenly I'm having battery problems that I didn't have before.  When first powered on, the battery shows 100% charged, but soon the beep tone indicates a low battery warning and the green battery symbol changes to white (not black, but white).  When I plug it into the computer via the usb lightning cable, it says the usb device is drawing too much power and has been disabled.  When I attempt to charge it, the battery goes between green and white, then sometimes goes to black.  I tried it on two computers and the second one recognized the iPod and did a sync and update, but when everything was finished, it too said that the usb device was drawing too much power and was being disabled. I didn't have a battery problem on the iPod before tonight's update, so I'm quite certain it isn't the battery -- something happened with the update.  Anyone having similar problems??  Are you listening, Apple???  Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Battery problems since 10.4.3 update?

I know that there a quite a few threads about battery problems, but has anybody experienced significant decreases in battery life after installing the 10.4.3 update? I installed it a few days ago and I'm noticing now that my battery life is much worse than it used to be.
For example, I was just watching a movie on my iBook. Before I started, my battery was FULLY charged, and Energy Saver was set for "Better Battery Life". I had airport turned off and left the screen brightness at default.
My battery died within 40 MINUTES! I had the sound turned up a little bit but I don't think that would drain enough power to reduce my batter life to 40 minutes when set for "better battery life"....
My battery's less than 2 years old.
Anyone else had similar problems since last OS update?

I just found a useful util called CoconutBattery 1.3 available from :
    http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/index.html
Running the app - gives me this info on my battery's state:
    current & max capacity: 828mAh
    Orginial Capacity: 4400mAh
    Battery load cycles: 461
The battery according to this app shows that at max charge it only has 18% of its orginial capacity.

  • Droid RazrMaxx battery problems after ICS update

I purchased a RazrMaxx in June and updated it to ICS on June 29. Since the ICS update the battery life on the phone went downhill. After a 100% charge and having the phone on standby for the last 14hrs 15min, I have only 30% battery life. I reset the phone twice to factory specs, it did not help. Screen brightness is set to about 30%,battery savings mode is on. Does anybody have any suggestions. Thanks

  • Bold 9650 freezes when uploading pics (Facebook v1.9? issue?)

I have the Bold 9650 and use v5.0.0.975 and upgraded to the new Facebooko v1.9 as soon as it was available (did not get the beta app, I waited) and ever since I did whenever I go to take a pic and upload it to FB, my phone freezes and locks up. Every time! IF it decides to unfreeze (and that has only happened less than 1/2 a dozen times) then it will not allow me to cick on any other icons on my phones main screen...sms, contacts, email, browser. The only other solution is a battery pull and that is getting old REALLY quick!
Well, let me just say that this is when I noticed the problem...I am assuming it is tied to the FB upgrade, but I could be wrong.
I have tried posting on Crackberry.com and not gotten any helpful advice so wondering if someone in here could help me with some suggestions to prevent this from happening every time.
I am thisclose to doing a complete system wipe and starting over to see if that would help...but that would be my last resort, obviously!
Thanks in advance for your response!

Hi!!  I have the same exact issue, we are both not alone and i'm soo happy i actually found someone else that is having this happen.  I'm not happy we have this problem cause i know its exhausting.  DO NOT DO A SECURITY WIPE!  It won't help.  I've done a wipe and verizon just replaced my phone on Friday and i am still having this issue.  Also, i'm now running v 5.0.0.1006 so its not the os like i thought it was.  I am starting to think it is the fb app.  Maybe should just uninstall fb and wait for an updated version, i don't know...
    Hope this helps alittle...

Valene: I never did the security wipe - I upgraded to OS 6.0.0.028 and am STILL having this problem with uploading pics using the FB app as well as the mobile site...I have 11 months left before my NE2 and will more than likely be switching to an Android at that time...ticks me off that every time I want to upload a pic and share it that I have to do a freakin battery pull. Sure hope the powers-that-be at FB and BB see these posts and get to steppin on a fix!

  • I use BB Bold 9790 and my battery which could at least, last for a day now at most, lasts for an hour

I use BB Bold 9790 and my battery which could at least, last for a day now at most, lasts for an hour and half.
The phone heats up so much that I am always forced to plug out the battery always.
Please help cos I love the device!
An more so can't afford to buy a new one cos its a little pricey.

Oh, then reread Post 2 please, for the last paragraph gives you options to proceed with. Not knowing which you desire to use, I'll just give you a bunch and you can choose.
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Bold 9650 is the WORST phone I have ever had!!! :-(

OK... I "upgraded" my phone to the Bold 9650 when it just came out earlier this year, wanting the latest and greatest. I have been an extremely loyal BlackBerry user for more than a decade. In fact, one BlackBerry I had a while back went a year-and-a-half without crashing, freezing, nor giving me any trouble whatsoever. Now, unfortunately, with my bold 9650, I'm lucky of I can go an HOUR-and-a-half without some sort of freeze or crash, and often the only way to get back on track is to pull the battery and restart. Several. Times. Each. Day. And I get REALLY tired of seeing the spinning icon showing me that BlackBery is doing something on its own, but I cannot do a thing with it. Can't move the thumbwheel. Can't enter any text. Can't even shut the phone off!!!
Am I alone, or are others out there experiencing the same problems? I'm about to abandon the Bold 9650 and get something else. What is a good replacedment for it?
    Thank you.

Thanks to SuzyQ for your input. Hi OEMMaster, How much memory is on your device? It could be low memory causing your device to freeze. Please try cleaning the memory to free up some space and resources. If your memory cleaning feature is not turned, please use the steps below to enable this feature with helping to avoid low memory.  I'm providing steps below for turning this feature along with a link to our website to the user manual and simulator supporting your device. If you have tried these suggestion and still have the issues, I could look into an option of offering you a certified like new replacement if you are under warranty. Please send me a private message with your information to be assisted further. I hope this helps.
To turn on the memory cleaning feature:
    1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
    2. Click Security > Advanced Security Settings > Memory Cleaning.
    3. Select the Enable check box.
    4. Press the key > Save.

  • Bold 9650 Extremely Unresponsive

I just switched to Verizon today from the evil and terrible AT&T.  I've been a crackberry user since AT&T has offered them and to me the Bold 9650 seemed like the perfect choice ( I heard awful things about the Storm 2 ).  So far, my experience with this phone is awful - the UI is insanely slow and unresponsive to the point where the phone could be considered a 10 on the glascow coma scale.
I downgraded from OS 6 thinking that was it since it also made my Bold 9700 laggy - this evidentaly was not the case as the last OS 5.0.x.x revision from VZW seems to be much of the same all be it not AS slow but still very slow.  My biggest quam?  The OS will work just fine for about five minutes or so sometimes less, sometimes more but eventually it just ceases up into a rock for ten or fifteen seconds then goes back to it's normal thing, it will continue to do this till just about nothing works quickly and the phone has to be rebooted.
Is there some solution to this or should I just grin and buy an iPhone 4 and admit RIM actually made an awful phone?

    StreetDoc,
Thanks for the answer - it's good to know my EMT jokes aren't wasted here.  I tried what you suggested and it updated the roaming, I rebooted and it does appear at least to be a little snappier now.  FWIW, the lag on this phone does only seem to occur within the first ten minutes of boot up or during periods of time when the data channel is being utilized heavily - I have found that during initial boot up of the phone turning the antenna off immediately resolves the issue.at least in the short term.
Is there some particular quirk of CDMA that causes this to occur that you're aware of and what if anything does updating the roaming profile for this handset do to fix it?  As far as I am aware, this handset is identical virtually to the 9700 Bold which this problem does not occur on and the only observation I can make is that it may or may not be affixed to CDMA.
I'd also like to add that while I initially thought it may have just been isolated to the movement of the trackpad, all functions of the phone indeed cease up including the blackberry button and the soft reset CTRL+SHIFT+DEL as well.
It also does not appear to be resolved or worsened by any particular handset software either, I have gone throughfour iterations of OS 5.x.x.x and three of 6.x.x.x and the problem is the same both ways, no worse no better.  Although 975 seems to not feature this problem at all after a while.

  • I am FRUSTRATED with my bb bold 9650

I have asked the same question to this forum at least twice, I have contacted my carrier who tried to deal with the issue for several hours then transferred me to BB company support who tried to help me. I have uninstalled the desk top 7 OS and reinstalled it to NO AVAIL. I was running BB 6 on my computer which is a PC running windows 7. When I had the vista os I could sync seamlessly between my bb and my laptop. Once I changed to  windows 7 OS the BB ver desktop version 6 ceased working. I downloaded BB ver 7 OS to my laptop and I AM STILL unable to sync between my laptop and my BB bold 9650. I have been told that the best possible solution is to upgrade to the BB10. I can't afford this option right now. Since I am an independent contractor and have a mother in law that is disabled and a son with autism I depend on seamless syncing for appointments etc. Friend have wondered why I am loyal to BB and don't just switch to an IPHONE- truly I am wondering too?  I like the Blackberry OS, I have been happy with it for a number of years but this syncing problem as well as the lagging paypal  card swiping ability is certainly making me wonder if my aversion to the IPHONE is misplaced. HELP HELP

Just to be clear, we're talking ONLY about the Desktop Software version, right? Not about your BB device OS version. That would be a completely different discussion...and all that I've talked about has solely to do with the Desktop Software.

Becuase I upgraded from OS 6 w to 7 becuase it had stopped working
Oh...sorry...I did not quite understand that from your first post...
    kimdyuma wrote:
I was told by BB that Os 6 would not work with windows 7
Well, I don't think that's the case...although the prior version system requirements aren't available, I am 99% certain that Desktop Software 6.x worked fine in Windows 7. I don't know who "BB" is that told you that, but I think they may have been mistaken.
    kimdyuma wrote:
I upgraded then the syncing would work just fine.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It often depends on the exact root of the problem. If the problem is outside of the Desktop Software (e.g., corrupt Outlook installation), then nothing the Desktop Software can do would help that, no matter what version of the Desktop Software is used.
    kimdyuma wrote:
Also clicking on any link to previous versions of BB desktop software will onlyl give you the option of OS 7 ( except of course the 10)
Sorry but, from post 15 of the thread I linked for you, not correct...when I look at that link, I see various levels of Desktop Software 4.2, 5, and 6. So all I can guess is that you are not looking in the location that I recommended for you...
I wish I could diagnose further for you...but you've so far not provided any real details about what happens...from merely things like "it doesn't work", there is just too little information from which to do any useful diagnosis. When you were still on Desktop Software 6, did you perhaps do any Advanced Logging? Sometimes, that can be useful...
