BB bridge files

Dear all, yesterday I uploaded the latest 107 version of the PB software. I now find out that language now is working ok. Thanks. But also find that the icon of CONTACT and BRIDGE FILES is showing an exclamation mark. What does this means? The other thing is that is:
I choose BRIDGE FILES I choose my device, I will see the map structure but all the maps are empty. So I still can open anything.
Maybe the exlamation mark means 'under construction'??? Who knows?

The empty folders are because they dont have supported files you can open.
try the camera folder to see pics.

  • Bridge Files app and media card encryption..

Just wanted to note clearly, in hopes that someone from RIM will see, that opening files over the Bridge Files app is almost useless if your BES admins force media card encryption on, like mine do. All files saved on the MicroSD card are encrypted and have a .rem extension appended to the filename. When this happens, the Bridge Files app is too dumb to see the file and decrypt it.
It is clear to me that this could be fixed in a software update and I hope it will be. It dramatically limits the usefulness of the bridge. I can't open any file saved with the bridge browser, or anything that comes as an email attachment. Most annoying..
Can anyone comment on whether RIM has made a statement anywhere on whether this will be fixed or not?
    Thanks!!

  • Bridge file number vs. camera's file number

I've gone through everything I can think of on Bridge CC and the tutorials and I'm still stumped.
My current camera (Olympus OM-D) file number is 4126 but when I open it in Bridge the file number is 3129. I've tried everything I can think of in Bridge file renaming, but can't seem to either change the file # or eliminate it. It's a problem because I've always used the date+camera file number to find archived files. I'm willing to change to fit into Bridge, but...
Questions:  is Bridge using a sequential numbering system that is unique to Bridge? And if so, can I change it to be consistent with the camera sequential file number?

    Good day everyone,
    To khcole,
Please check your memory card and verify if the old pictures and new ones are on the same folder (eg. 100MSDCF, 101MSDCF) under [DCIM] folder. Both folders will start the numbering sequence at DSC-00001, to start at DSC-05208 make sure that the folder will contain images which will fill out the sequence upto DSC-05207 otherwise that camera will fill those empty slots until it uses the DSC-05208 onwards.
    To grosenfeld,
As both file using the same file name and extension cannot co-exist under the same folder, one needs to be saved on different folder. Using an image viewing software such as the Playmemories Home (PMH), you'll be able to view both pictures and you should be able to see when the images are taken, imported, modified or what camera was used for a particular image under PMH's filters or the properties of the pictures.
2 things can happen if you try importing a picture that has the same file name and extension as the existing image on a destination folder.
    1. The original file could be replaced by the new one intentionally/unintentionally.
    2. The new picture will be saved with (#) between the file name and extension (eg. DSC-00001(2).jpg) as the computer will recognize these files as duplicates even if it isn't.

  • Cannot see Bridge folder on BlackBerry's SD Card in PlayBook Bridge Files

I have learned that when downloading a file through the messages app on the PB, the file is stored in /Media Card/BlackBerry/documents/Bridge.  These files are accessible on the BB through the email the attachment came in.  However, I cannot access these files directly through the Bridge Files app as I cannot see the Bridge folder on my SD card.  However, if I download an attachment from my BB and select Store on Media Card, it is stored in /Media Card/BlackBerry/documents/ and is fully accessible from the PB.
Any ideas why I cannot see the Bridge folder from the PB? Is that by design? I know it is hidden by default, but I make it visible so it shows in the BB's Files app.  If I rename the folder to Bridge2, it is fully accessible on the PB and subsequently loaded documents are in a newly-created Bridge folder, which is again hidden by default.
    BB9900 OS 7.0.0.503
    BES
    16 GB PB 1.08.6067
PS - FWIW, I had this same problem on my 9700 also on a BES, so I don't think it is an OS 7 issue.
    Thanks!

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this. The linked support article addresses the issue directly (thank you both), but the method recommended there (importing the entire AVCHD folder structure) didn't solve the problem. The small number of videos that iPhoto could not see originally also did not get imported, though the ones that it could originally see, did. Luckily since the percentage seems to be small (~10%), it is not prohibitive to open them one by one in Quicktime, re-export them, and then import them into iPhoto. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future. Thank you all for your suggestions.

  • Viewing media files via Bridge files

I can't seem to view media files like photos, music or vids via Bridge files - what am I doing wrong?  I can view docs and pdfs but no media files like the pictures that I take on my BB.
The message that I get is "There are no files that can be opened in this application".

  • Loss of icons for contacts & bridge files on PB

The last SW update ( 1.0.5.2304) deletes the icons for contacts and bridge files on the PB. This happens when set in the Dutch language. Icons appear again after switching to English language on the PB. BB can stay in whatever language. I use the PB in Germany. Hope this helps some European "Early Adapters" and that this work around is very temporary...

    Hi,
My brother is using Uverse modem with ea4500. He had connections problem before but it is okay.
He told me that he make sure that the router‘s firmware is upgraded. He tried doing some resets and power cycle to the router and his modem. He changed the MTU size of his router to 1400. He called his ISP and asked them to set the modem to Full bridge mode and made sure that the internet light of his modem. He used PPPoE internet connection in his router. He had no major issues with his internet since then- unless, if there is like power outage or ISP service outage in his network.
I hope his story will help with your internet connectivity concern.

  • Nothing in Bridge Files

I would think that "Bridge Files" is meant to allow access to compatible files between my Torch and 'Book. There's "no files that can be opened in this application". Something on the horizon perhaps or am I misinterpreting the use of this or not using it corectly?

  • Bridge File Type Associations don't see my (2014) products?

I have just updated Ps, Ai & Id to (2014) and uninstalled old versions (Win 7)
Now Bridge has forgotten all my File Type Associations (no Adobe products in drop down) same is happening with my suitcase fusion 5 plugs, 2014 product not in plugs list
Adobe is not installed in the default location, is on my second drive. all else is normal
The result in this is that I can't 'Edit Original' or open any files without dragging from bridge into app.

Has Ubuntu and Windows ever seen each other?
You say "Ubuntu is apparently a linux platform...". not apparently - it IS a linux platform (are these your computers?)
The first thing is to get them all into the same logical Workgroup.
    On PC: ControlPanel>System>ComputerName..jot down workgroupName.
On ubuntu, the file/etc/samba/smb.conf is edited (might not need this yet).
On Mac: Utilities> DirectoryAccess, Configure SMB/CFS...enter WorkgroupName in appropriate box.
(then look into SystemPreferences>Sharing, and turn on File Sharing.
In network utilities on the mac, have you been able to you ping these computers by their IP address? Have you been able to ping mac by number from Windows or Linux?
This site might help, too along with the Apple link that the other user posted:

  • Using Adobe Bridge file structure with iPhoto (latest version)

I use Adobe Bridge and have all my pics in named folders in Pictures/PICS/Folder Names.  Inside the PICS folder is the iPhoto Library (only a few pics in it).  Is there any way I can use the file structure I have set up with Bridge and iPhoto (latest) simultaneously?  I really dont want to import (copy) all my pics into IPhot because I am pretty sure I will end up with two versions of each.  I havent been able to manage pics manually the way I like to in older versions of iPhoto.

Here's some info to help you setup Photoshop for use with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note 1: screenshots are from PSE 10
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Bridge file associations SNAFU

Since I installed photoshop CC I've lived with 2 versions of bridge on my system.  THey dont coexist very well, but I've put up with it because in the past I've ended up  having problems...
Last night I freed up a bit of space by uninstalling bridge cs6 and photoshop cs6 (NOT CC - I left that installed to try and avoid this sort of thing). Now bridge has forgotten my file association prefs - and whats more the prefs dialogue no longer allows me to set an image file to open in photoshop. See pic.
I could manually go through and associate each image filetype with photoshop, but I'm not going to.  Because life is too short, and then I wouldn't get to moan at adobe.
Can anyone tell me a simple fix for this that doesn't involve manually doing the above, or uninstalling photoshop CC just to be able to reinstall bridge CC.  Why is there no bridge CC2014?  It would appear this is where the problem lies.

Sorry for the noise. I misunderstood your depth of knowlege and what you had tried. I also committed the sin of not testing the procedure all the way through because I did not want to change the association on my computer. I get the same behavior.
    Guess for .jpg
    Registry shows for .jpg:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jpg\UserCho ice  Progid = Applications\Photoshop.exe
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command  (Default) = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1"
UserChoice seems to be added when I made the association choice. Note that it points into Applications with a non-version specific Photoshop.exe. Within HKLM\....\Applications there is only one Photoshop.exe -- no version -- and that entry points to CS6.
I believe that explains why the browsed to association is CS6. It does not explain why it would be set up that way. Probably has something to do with Windows special handling of certain file extensions. Beyond my depth and tells me I am not going to find a solution.

  • CS6 Beta Modifies CS4 & CS5 Bridge File Associations (W7 Pro 64Bit SP1)

    Symptoms:
    After installing CS6 including bridge CS6 onto a W7 pro 64Bit Machine with SP1.
The File associations in the existing copies of CS4 and CS5 bridge are updated to make the CS6 Beta the default programme for opening the majority of file types from either CS4 or CS5 bridge.
When right clicking ona file from CS4/5 bridge only the option of opening in CS6 is presented
    Expected Bahaviour:
I expected that CS6 would be the default programme launched from CS6 bridge but that CS4/CS5 would remain the default programmes launched from their own versions of bridge.
Setting CS6 as the default file association in previous versions of bridge makes no sense at the Beta stage, as it interupts a clean migration back to existing workflow.
I would also question the value in not preserving the existing file associations in prior versions of bridge in the final CS6 release, as there are cases when it might be desirable to go back to a previous version of CS, in which case opening that version of bridge and launching directly into the prior versions of CS is very desirable.
Is there anyway to quickly restore the previous associations in CS4/CS5 bridge and be sure that they are exactly the same as prior to the CS6 beta install ?

Sorry for the noise. I misunderstood your depth of knowlege and what you had tried. I also committed the sin of not testing the procedure all the way through because I did not want to change the association on my computer. I get the same behavior.

  • CS5 & CS6 (Photoshop and Bridge) file association fix ?

My Win7 SP1 system is now runnging smoothly with Bridge CS5 properly invoking Photoshop PS5 and Bridge CS6 invoking Photoshop PS6.  Simply changing the File type associations in Bridge CS5 did not seem to work.  This was "solved" at 3AM last night while sipping a glass of Scotch - therefore it would be interesting if others would confirm my sleepy discovery:
    1. CS6 assigns all standard graphics files to be associated with CS6 and thus causes Bridge CS5 to invoke Photoshop PS6.  The objective is to have Bridge CS5 invoke PS5 at least for chosen file types.  Ensure neither CS5 nor CS6 is invoked.
    2. In the Win7 Start Menu search box, type "file association".
    3. Select the "Change the file type associated with a file extension".  This starts a window titled "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program".
    4. All of the graphic files are assocated with CS6.   For those files you want to associate with Photoshop PS 5, click on the choses file extension (e.g. .cr2, .nef, .psd, etc) and click on the "Change Program" to associate the extension to Adobe Photoshop CS5.  (note.  this step seems to be a necessary operation since, when I simply modified the Bridge 5 file type associations, Bridge 5 did not honour the change).
    5. Start Bridge CS5. Choose "Edit -> Preferences -> File Type Associations".
    6. For each file type you wish opened in CS5, change the association from CS6: choose the "Browse" option and locate the CS5 version of Photoshop.exe".  This is probably in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)/Photoshop.exe.  I happen to choose .cr2, nef, and .psd.  Click on OK to complete the association.
At this point, you can invoke Bridge 5 and it will properly invoke PS 5.  If you invoke Bridge 6, it will invoke PS6.  If you use file manager to invoke one of your selected file extension types, it will start Bridge PS 5. Other graphic files will start PS 6.
If you wish, you can go back and reassociate the chosen types to CS 6 - but your Bridge 5 will still invoke PS5 for your chosen extensions since the Bridge-assigned file associations takes priority over the windows default programme.

Great summary!  I will amend the association FAQ

  • CC BRIDGE FILE SIZE REDUCTION/NO ADJUSTMENT

In previous versions of ADOBE BRIDGE (CS4-CS5) the RAW file size was adjustable using the dialog box accessed from the bottom of the RAW frame.  Set to MAXIMUM it produced an image  20x14 @ 21mb for JPEG files.  Usable.
The NEW version of BRIDGE creates a file size  14x9@ 9mb for JPEG files.
Using a NIKON D300, shooting RAW, I cannot get a larger file size from BRIDGE no matter what I do.  Same raw file loaded into BRIDGE (CS4) GIVES me the larger size, in CC...smaller file.
I've gone through BRIDGE/settings/prefs/adjustments....and there is no control for adjusting file size OR output size.
    Very frustrating.
Anyone know about this and if there is a workaround??

I've gone through BRIDGE/settings/prefs/adjustments....and there is no control for adjusting file size OR output size.
Bridge CC uses a different way of resizing then before. You now have almost unlimited choices to set the wanted size using the new image sizing option in the same menu as before in ACR (blue line at the bottom)
Click on the checkmark in front of 'resize to fit' and select the option you want from the drop down menu,  e.g. set to match the wanted Megapixels size. By default it stays at the last set option like it was before with the few offered presets.
Try it out, it would be nice to have the option to save your own presets but sadly enough this is not the case. However there are a lot more options to choose from

  • Bridge File Open in camer raw, is grayed out. Camera raw works in PS.

Why, when a raw file open in Bridge with a double click opens in camera raw, that same file in bridge the 'open camera raw' option in the file menu is grayed out?

There are 3 places to check this option, 1 in Bridge preferences itself, 1 in the camera raw preferences via Bridge and the last one in the PS preferences from PSCS3 itself.
They all should have a checkmark. But there are some issues with this option. You might also want to refresh the preferences with restarting Bridge an holding down option key and after doing so again check and set the prefs to your wishes.
