can someone please explain the messaging flow when running the Blackberry Connect Software. Does the flow work exactly like a standard BB handheld, or is there some special configuration needed on the BES side to make this work?
i am looking to buy HTC Touch Pro (aka Fuze) for AT&T network, and i need email via BES, etc.

basic flow would be something like this
1) New Message arrives: the Microsoft message transfer agent delivers message to user’s desktop email mailbox.
2) Message notification: Blackberry maintains a MAPI connection to the user’s mailbox. The connection enables the server to use the same notification for new mail, blackberry processes message as it arrives.
3) Message filters are applied: BES checks message fields against global filter rules.
BES then applies user-defined filters.
4) Message ID is assigned: BES randomly generates a reference id and tag.
5) Message is compressed and encrypted.
6) Message sent to wireless network: BES sends the first portion of the message through port 3101 to the wireless network, which verifies the PIN belongs to belongs to a valid handheld registered on the network
7) Confirmation is returned: The network locates the handheld and delivers the message.
8) Arrives on handheld: The handheld decrypts and decompresses the message and notifies the user of new mail.

First, get yourself a decent brand (I have Verbatim and Sandisk) absolute minimum 4 GB, better 8 or 16 GB SDHC card, class 6 or higher (that number is in a little circle on the front of the card and means it can handle faster read/write speeds).
Presumably, you are shooting in 1280 HD which will result in MUCH bigger file sizes. My camera does both 1280 HD as well as 1920 HD and in the latter, a 3 minute video easily uses up to 3 GB.
Once you get a larger capacity card, you will be able to shoot up to 20 - 30 minute videos (depending on the card capacity - they have maximums). When I shoot video, I only use 16 and 32 GB cards. You might also call Canon and ask them two questions (or email their support, they're pretty good at answering):
1. What is the maximum card capacity the SX500 can handle (cards can go to 32, 64, 128 GB)?
2. What is the highest class number the camera can handle? (I said to get at least class 6; many more now come in class 10, and then there is a brand new version called UHS-1). If you get a card that is too fast, it will result in lower quality videos/pics. When I got my SX40, I called Canon and got their recommendations on cards because I was not happy with the quality output of the cards I had.
And, lastly, make sure that, if you are using a card reader, it is fast enough to read whatever card class you will be using - that is important as that determines how long it takes it transfer the stuff to the computer. Also, I'd suggest using a USB card reader rather than attaching the camera - it makes it so much easier to handle and saves the camera battery.
Start with these suggestions and you'll find that you'll be happy with the output of your camera.

As far as I know, its Windows 6.5 and not a BT Special.

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

I suggest you try the very clean and very forceful AutoLoader method:

Beware that it is completely destructive...the device will be "like new"...no data, no apps, no accounts, etc. Be sure you take a full backup first, as well as make full manual documentation of all apps, accounts, configurations, etc. Sometimes a restore reintroduces the very corruption one is trying to eliminate, and manual reconfiguration is necessary.
You can also use this to fall back to a prior OS if you desire...you can install any OS level for which you can find an AutoLoader. (Hint...search over on the CB site!)

Develop software for connecting to creative zen touch and other devices not recognized by wind

hi there,
as a programmer i wonder, is it possible to obtain information of how to connect to usb-connected creative device (which is not recognized automatically by windows, as the zen touch) and how to communicate with it's is there any documentation about that available to "non-creative" ;-) developers?
the idea is to create a plugin (e.g. for musikcube) that enables the programm to access the files on the device.
i know there are third party companies that do provide software for connecting to e.g. zen touch, but i do not think that they have figured out every little bit by themselves, have they?

Try this:
Download <a href='http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=444' target=_blank>this[/url] file. Extract it to whatever folder you like. Inside that folder run the file fixup.cmd. A DOS window will open up and start display messages on what its doing, when its done it will instruct you to remove the device from Device Manager and reconnect it.
Try this and see if it works.

What version of iTunes are you using? The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

First try reinstalling itunes.

I connected my iPod to my PC and got a message 'The software for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly.

I have done several "attempted downloads, and see the full file download, typically taking 30 minutes to complete, and then something goes wrong.
I am happy to suspend AV and FW software, but would like to know if it is a good fix or not first?

I suspect that the problem is in your router. Do NOT consider your router to be blameless if some other devices seem to work with it.
Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. Don't just turn it Off. On many routers that doesn't really do anything but put the router into standby mode. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
There is a chance that some services turned on in your router could be causing problems. Look for a setting called QoS (Quality of Service). If ON turn it OFF.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

you have to set up your router to solve th problem. first find and write down the ipad mac address.
then log on to your router using your laptop or any device that can connect to router at 192.168.0.1 in your web browser. please check out my posting about how to resolve the wifi connection problem.
i think the ios6 update has reset the networking but if you set up the router then you should not have the same problem any more.
