BB Curve 8330 Camera Indicators Inquiry

My Blackberry Curve 8330: There is a "200+" on the lower left side of the camera screen. With the occasional "200+ !"  Can anyone tell me what this indicates? Any assistance is gratly appreciated.

Thank you so much. You were right.  The number was really making me wonder if it was for shutter speed and what not.  Thanks again.

  • Curve 8330 camera

When the device is in camera mode, it works until I snap the picture. Then it displays a white screen. It's storing on the media card, and when I check that, it's just a generic jpg icon. When I click on that, i get a small red x. The properties show it's a 2MB file, but there isn't any picture displayed. It works fine in video mode, and it shows what it's pointing at in camera mode until I take the picture, when it goes white screen. Everything else works fine.

Have you tried pulling your batt?

Is it possible to turn off the shutter sound when taking pictures with this phone?
Also, neither the guy at the store, nor myself were able to add my mac email address to the phone, is this possible?
    Thanks...

Welcome to BB Forums... i don't think it is possible to turn off the shutter sound.

  • Camera Problem with Curve 8330

Hi - I have a Curve 8330 and the camera has recently started acting strange. When I look at the screen to take a picture, the image is "posterized" (ie, it looks like an Andy Warhol poster, with strange colors).
I can find no setting to fix this...I have also tried both a hard and soft reboot, with no luck.
When I take a picture while looking at the "posterized" screen image, it does not save it, even though I have plenty of file space left.
    Help! :-)

I am having the same issue as well (and done the same things), and have not been able to find anything either.  I am not sure if this is now a hardware issue and not a software issue.

  • Help: Syncing Curve 8330 with Mac OS 10.4!

Hi... I posted something months ago, but never got an answer -- and REALLY need to fix this!
Got Curve 8330s for my mother and myself in 08/2009 -- I have a PC, she has a Mac with OS 10.4 (Tiger).  She has NEVER been able to sync her BB with her Mac.  Pocket Mac didn't work, so she never got her contacts from her Yahoo account into her Curve, then DTM (finally) came out -- but since she doesn't have the right OS, we can't install that.
    So...
    1)  Can we do anything, short of spending another $500 to upgrade her OS to Snow Leopard?  (Oh yeah, she'd need to get more RAM at the same time to make that work... this just keeps getting better.)
    2)  Is DTM for Macs still wiping everyone's BlackBerrys?  Has this been fixed?  Or is this all a big waste of time?
Needless to say, we're both quite unhappy to have spent so much time and effort on this (I'm her de facto IT person), especially after purchasing the devices and contracts so recently.  And I'm having my own issues over on the PC side.
We don't WANT iPhones.  We LIKE Verizon, and love having each having a BB -- but as others have said, it would be nice to make them actually talk to our computers... and we can't shell out any more money at all right now.
Thanks in advance for your help!  And how do we actually get RIM to do anything about this issue?

How did you come up with $500?  Is your friend on an intel mac?  If it is intel mac, the upgrade to SL is about $30.  The cost of ram is <$100.

  • Battery Status Level In Desktop Manager Does Not Agree With Battery Level Indicated On My Curve 8330

I just got a new Curve 8330 from Verizon.  It came with a Desktop Manager 4.3 disc.  I installed it, but then learned that version 4.7 was available.  I uninstalled 4.3 and downloaded and installed 4.7 from RIM.  When I started to charge my Curve via USB cable to my PC, the Desktop Manager showed a battery charge of 37%.  My Curve was 100% charged later in the day, but the Desktop Manager still indicated it was only 37% charged.  I uninstalled 4.7 and reinstalled it, per advice of Verizon.  Then the Desktop Manager correctly showed a battery charge of 100%.  But as I used my Curve and used up battery to a 50% level (as indicated on the Curve), the Desktop Manager still showed a 100% charge.  A minor glitch with the Desktop Manager software?  Any solutions?  Thanks.

it's a glitch. The(false) value can be updated by going into the Help menu if I recall correctly.

Ohhh please help me!!!! I just bought the Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. I a coming from a Palm Treo 700P. I love the Curve but I do not want to have to use outlook. Anyone who used Palm knows you could have multiple calendars and on both the Pam and Computer. I have all my dads medical, appointments, my cancer appointments and both of our lives on my Palm. When Verizon Synchronized it only the phone #'s came through and nothing for the calendar. I am now having to carry my palm treo for the personal information, drug histories, appointments, etc. Does anyone know of a program with the Calendar for both the desktop and the blackberry that I can download that will synch to each other or have any other ideas on what I can do? I would so appreciate it. Thank you so very much for any help.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 won't boot, LED blinks and hourglass spins

I bought this pink BlackBerry Curve 8330 in December of 2008. It has worked perfectly since and I've never gotten it wet. It's been dropped 4-5 times, but never from more than 3 feet.
This afternoon, in the middle of writing a text, it suddenly powered off and the red LED light came on like it does when it is turning back on. It went off, the screen stayed black, then a few seconds later the screen turned on with an hourglass spinning for about five seconds, then the light turns off and everything goes black again for a few seconds, then the LED light comes on again and the cycle is repeated. It did this five times before I had to put it away as we drove home. When I got home, it had finally booted the whole way, but the battery was so low the radio was off, so I plugged it into the USB charger on my desktop computer.
When I came back later, the phone had stopped charging and was on a black screen with the LED light on, just like earlier. It went through this cycle a few times.
I pulled the battery and put it back in, same thing happened. Black screen, white screen with hourglass, black screen.
I plugged it back into the USB charger and as I type this, the little psycho has booted completely and it shows that it is charging.

How can I fix this so it doesn't keep happening? Thanks so much in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Windows live on blackberry curve 8330

Hi everyone, I'm new to the world of blackberry, only had mine for 1 week.  The question I need to know is I have a blackberry curve 8330, it came with blackberry messenger on it, but I didn't really like it, so I don't know if I did wrong, but I put windows live for blackberry on it....seems to work fine, now that I have it on I have been wondering if I should have done it, could I have problems down the road.

Indeed, you carrier may prevent you from using the Windows Live service on your BlackBerry device.
but it was available back in July 2008.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 vs Droid 2

So I'm heavily considering trading in my Blackberry Curve 8330 for a new Droid 2.  Was wondering if anyone else recently made the switch and can shar their experiences/opinions.
I like my Blackberry a lot, but it looks like there is a lot more stuff I can do with the Droid 2.  My biggest concern is that I have read a lot of comments saying that the service/reception is kind of Shotty on teh Droid 2 and people are having reception and dropped call issues.
Overall I would say I am pretty happy with Verizon service when it comes to coverage area and reception (at least with my Blackberry), so I am compelled to beleive that the issue is with the Droid 2 phone itself.
Would love to hear others opinions on this topic.
    Thanks!

I got a Droid 2 last week and had the original Droid before that. I taught my Mom how to use a Blackberry last year (8900). Based on that I can say that the Droid 2 is a highly functional phone, especially from a email and internet, especially internet standpoint.  The pages load in 5 - 15 seconds depending on web density. Its nearly laptop fast. I know the brower on Blackberry's is weak to say the least. The camera is excellent and you can take video with it too. From a communications standpoint it's outstanding. It's very easy to take a picture of something and with the click of 1 button, you can email it to anyone, post it on facebook or myspace or anywhere you like. I like that functionality a lot. The best way I can describe the phone overall is that it's like having a small powerful computer in your pocket, fast, functional and pocketable. The Android OS works best when you have a gmail account as your primary email account. It downloads messages quickly. Gmail also uses your list of contacts as contacts for the phone. You can transfer your contacts from your old phone into the Droid 2 and it will populate in your gmail contact list. My friend just took my old Droid and transferred his yahoo contacts into it and it populated in gmail and he set up his yahoo account in the phone too, so he can work from both.
Overall, I really highly recommend the Droid 2. It has a learning curve if you're used to a Blackberry, but worth it in the end. Its a great daily phone with a nice camera and camcorder and excellent social capabilities. I find myself using the pc at home less because the Droid is so capable. Get it!!

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 – fixes for poor audio quality?

    Hello,
    I have a BlackBerry Curve 8330.
When I use it to play music (mp3s with a good high bit rate) the sound quality is excellent using the “official” headphones that came with the phone (3.5mm jack) and when I play music using the phone’s speakerphone.
But I run into problems when connecting the phone to 1) External computer speakers (good ones) and my car’s auxiliary input (2007 Camry) to play music off my Curve on the car speakers/system. In both these instances I am connecting the BlackBerry with a male-male 3.5mm connector wire (I understand that the Curve has a 3.5 mm headset/audio output, unlike most phones which are 2.5 mm outputs?).
I have tried several 3.5 mm male-male connector wires but get the following problems when playing music on both the external computer speakers and my Camry:
-- Low volume and muffled sound
-- A loud one-second burst of static/click when the music player goes to next song
Can you help me figure this out?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem. Using my iPod fixed the problem.

  • Can't open picture attachments on BlackBerry Curve 8330

I just traded my Pearl 8130 for the Curve 8330 yesterday.  While I think I made the right decision, I'm a little annoyed by the fact that for the most part, I can't open email attachments.  Keep in mind, this is when I actually use the Internet Browser to access my various accounts.  In other words, I'm actually going to www.gmail.com and www.hotmail.com.  When I get into my Hotmail, it'll show the paper clip signifying an attachment but won't give me any sort of option to open it.  It just lists the file name(s) and that's it.  When I go into my gmail, if I've got an email that only contains one or two pictures it'll usually open those.  But any more than that and it's the same deal with Hotmail, except that it'll actually have the "6 Attachments" link that I can actually click, but when I do it just lists the file names in regular type and there's no option whatsoever to open them.  It doesn't open any kind of thumbnail either.
It's kind of a bummer to me because I have a lot of saved pictures in my email accounts that I'd like to save on my phone as well.  If all BlackBerrys are like that, I'll just deal with it and shut up.  When I get email attachments in the accounts I've set up to go directly to my BlackBerry I can always open them, so maybe this is just normal for BlackBerrys.  But if mine is actually having a problem I'd really like to get it fixed.  If that's the case, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?  I already resent Service Books and took the battery out and put it back in.  That's all I've tried so far.  If all else fails I can just take it in to Alltel to have it looked at but it'd be nice to avoid having to do that.    I know there are other ways to go about this... I can always just manually move them to my phone's memory card from the computer and stuff.  Getting them directly from my email would just be a little quicker.
    Thanks, everyone!

Blackberry browser isnt exactly the same as a browser on your PC. It has limitations, such as sizes. when you added the email to your BIS account its now mail on your device which is the primary function of a blackberry. when using BIS or BES emails, they are designed to truncate if too big, but if you wish to look at more it gives you that option. www.hotmail.com is not designed to accomodate blackberry. Your best option is to stay to the BIS email option.
Not to mention it uses less of your data bandwidth to use BIS email rather than browsing to www.hotmail.com

  • Google Maps no longer works for my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. What is wrong with Google???

For the past 11 months, Google Maps and Gmail have worked wonderfully with my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. Tonight, all of it stopped working. I tried to load Google Maps and failed. Kept getting the error message "Network Unavailable, blah blah blah". I tried restarting the phone, removing and reinserting the battery, until I finally uninstalled Google Maps. Now when I point my browser (OperaMini) to m.google.com to download and reinstall Google Maps, it says "Sorry the Google Maps application does not work on your 8330." This makes NO sense. Why would Google suddenly remove support for my phone? Is there a work around? Before uninstalled, I tried all sorts of tricks with editing permissions to no avail.
Also, Gmail is refusing to check mail, occasionally saying that a data connection is needed. That also makes NO sense as I have great phone reception.
My internet (OperaMini) and normal calling and texting capabilities are unaffected.
In conclusion: Is there ANY WAY to get these Google applications to reinstall and work on my phone? Or has Google screwed me over? Any help would be tremendously appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hyun
