BB Link and BB Z10 Terminal, Contacts Sync

I posed a question on Sunday or Monday concerning the BB Link version I downloaded (V 1.1.1.32) and my terminal with V 10.1.0.2312. My question was unanswered, and has disappeared from the List. Can someone please tell me what happened?

  • My iphone and my wifes iphone contacts synced together once i up loaded cloud.how do i seperate contacts?

    help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If they are part of a back up, the back up can't be restored to a Mac, you can only restore to a replacement device.
If they were in photo stream, enable photo stream on your Mac.

  • After upgrade to iphone OS 4.0 (and then 4.1) correct sync stop working

After upgrade to iphone OS 4.0 (and then 4.1) synchronization of calendar, contacts, bookmarks of safari STOP working. For example I check checkbox "synchronize calendar" and press "apply". Then iTunes DELETE check in the checkbox ("synchronize calendar") and start synchronization of all other info but not calendar. The same situation with contacts, bookmarks, Mail.
How is this problem resolved? Thanks in advance.

It's OK--no worries! Mail accounts sync differently (I'm a MobileMe user) so knowing the mail account type is important.
First, repair your permissions. You can do this by opening the Disk Utility (Applications to Utilities to Disk Utility), selecting your hard drive and then clicking "Repair Permissions."
Than, rest the iPhone by holding down the "Home" and "Power" buttons through the home screen until the apple appears. Then let it come back to your home screen.
OK, second, I looked up the iOS 4 Manual. Double check your phone settings. Under the "Setting" button, select "Mail, Contacts and Calendars." Select the accounts on your phone and make sure the syncing for the items you want to sync is turned on.
I know you've done this, but try it step by step in case something was left out:
    From the manual . . .
    Set up iTunes syncing:
1 Connect iPhone to your computer, and open iTunes.
2 In iTunes, select iPhone in the sidebar.
3 Configure the sync settings in each of the settings panes.
See the following section for descriptions of the panes.
4 Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the screen.
By default, “Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected” is selected.
    iPhone Settings Panes in iTunes
The following sections provide an overview of each of the iPhone settings panes.
For more information, open iTunes and choose Help > iTunes Help.
    Summary Pane
Select “Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected” to have iTunes open and sync iPhone automatically whenever you connect it to your computer. Deselect this option if you want to sync only by clicking the Sync button in iTunes. For more information, see “Automatic iTunes Syncing” on page 58.
Select “Sync only checked songs and videos” if you want iTunes to skip unchecked items in your iTunes library when syncing.
Select “Prefer standard definition videos” if you want iTunes to sync standard definition instead of high definition videos (iPhone 4 only).
    Info Pane
The Info pane lets you configure the sync settings for your contacts, calendars, email accounts, and web browser.
    Contacts
Sync contacts with applications such as Mac OS X Address Book, Yahoo! Address Book, and Google Contacts on a Mac, or with Yahoo! Address Book, Google Contacts, Windows Address Book (Outlook Express), Windows Contacts (Vista and Windows 7), or Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync contacts with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync contacts with one application at a time.)
If you sync with Yahoo! Address Book, you only need to click Configure to enter your new login information when you change your Yahoo! ID or password after you’ve set up syncing.
    Calendars
Sync calendars from applications such as iCal on a Mac, or from Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync calendars with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync calendars with only one application at a time.)
    Mail Accounts
Sync email account settings from Mail on a Mac, and from Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 or Outlook Express on a PC. Account settings are transferred only from your computer to iPhone. Changes you make to an email account on iPhone don’t affect the account on your computer.
Note: The password for your Yahoo! email account isn’t saved on your computer, so it can’t be synced and must be entered on iPhone. In Settings, choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars,” tap your Yahoo! account, and enter the password.
    Web Browser
You can sync bookmarks on iPhone with Safari on a Mac, or with Safari or Microsoft Internet Explorer on a PC.
    Notes
Sync notes in the Notes application on iPhone with notes in Mail on a Mac or with Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC.
    Advanced
These options let you replace the information on iPhone with the information on your computer during the next sync.
When you plugged the iPhone into the new macbook (figuring you had the iPhone first and then got the macbook), you should have received a message saying that your iPhone was currently syncing to another itunes library and do you want to sync it to this one. Did you get that message and did you click "yes?"
Hang in there, you'll get it. My two gmail accounts are syncing OK. I don't use google calendar or sync contacts to those accounts.

  • Not all data on contact syncs to the iCloud

I have many notes within my contacts in my address book. Since upgrading to icloud, only some of the data within the notes field is syncing. The worst part is, since it syncs half the information to the cloud and then syncs the incomplete contact card back to my mac it permanently erases the data!
Has anyone noticed this problem? Does it seem possible that I have identified the issue correctly?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I assume you mean sync, not backup.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • BlackBerry Link and syncing Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with stand-alone desktop installation of Outlook 2010?

I have used Blackberries in business since the beginning. Fantastic products!
Sadly after spending the better part of Feb 6th transitioning from Torch to Z10 I have had to abandon the effort and request an RMA number to return the Z10.
    Here is why:
"Link" appears to be focussed on syncing documents and media like content such as music and movies but does not, from what I can tell, sync Outlook Contacts, Calendar entries or Tasks. I have never bothered putting music or movies on a BB... never had the time to fuss with such... however, I use, edit and sync my Contacts, Calendar and Tasks between my Torch and my desktop PC every day... as in EVERY day!
From a review of postings on various forums there does not appear to be a solution in the works to this problem and the trend appears to be to use a Cloud based email or service to host such "PIM" information and then sync the handheld to the Cloud repository. This method MAY be suitable for some forms of info but it is not suitable to post such personal info on the cloud... it needs to stay on the desktop and in the handheld device, both of which are password protected and looked after carefully.
This is an odd situation, BB (RIM) cut their teeth on pages, emails, BBM and great cell calls, mainly in a business environment. Many small business users live and die on their BB. They do not run Exchange Server... they run Outlook stand alone on a desktop. To remove this functionality from the Z10 (BB10 overall perhaps) seems at best to be a serious oversight.
I wish BB the best with the Z10 and hope to see it do well. For me, I had to make a choice between the efficiency and effectiveness of syncing Outlook Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with the Torch, or hand feeding and maintaining thousands of constantly changing entries into what is undoubtedly a more powerful and wonderful looking Z10. Efficiency and effectiveness won over brawn and beauty. The Torch is back on line... It's a tool... a really great tool! Tomorrow it will process a hundred emails,  numerous SMS messages, a few BBM's, keep me on time and feed me a bunch of useful phone numbers and addresses as it has for a couple of years now. It will also spend an hour or so teathered to my laptop at a remote location where there is cell coverage but no internet. It will NOT display any movies, tweats, twits, or facebook stuff that I won't have time to look at anyway. The fast, powerful, shiny Z10 is heading in an RMA bag back to Telus.
I have a sort of sick feeling in my gut and hope to be able to sync again in the future!

  • Contact syncing - Facebook and Linked In when disabled

Does anyone else have a problem with contacts syncing in Facebook and Linked In contacts even when disabled ?

    Hi Andaleeb
I had tried this several times before but alas no luck, i had also tried <appdata\adobe\online services\Photoshop Elements 12.0.0> and added <_old> like i had seen in one of the forums but it took out Facebook and Flickr from the drop down menu in the Organizer, so reverted back. I have done a System Restore which did not work, then tried your sugestion several time again yesterday with no luck, then received your e-mail and tried it again and went throught the Authorization process 4 times then it actually uploaded a couple of photo's, so in suggest keep trying and it may take the hint and upload lol, thank you if you haden't sent the e-mail i might not have tried again, again thank you

  • Z10 does not sync with Google contacts

I've had my Z10 for about a week and am trying to set it up. I am trying, and failing, to replace an Android device with this phone. I used the easy setup for "Email, calendar, and contacts" to link the phone to my gmail/google account. That account has two-step verification enabled and the setup program duly collected the verification code. All three accounts got set up and populated with the latest from google.
But ..... if I make a change via a web browser on my PC (an up-to-date Arch Linux system), those changes simply don't get picked up by the phone, even with the sync interval set to 5 minutes. This is not a matter of not waiting long enough. It's a matter of sync not working. The phone does pick up new email messages arriving and new calendar entries.
If I try to change the sync interval, after the 'save', I'm told that my login credentials were not correct. After one of those episodes, I deleted the 'contact' account and added a new one, this time using the caldev approach under 'advanced settings'. This behaves the same way (except that it requires an application-specific password from Google, rather than honoring the fact that I'd already supplied a valid two-step code). Contacts get loaded as part of the account setup, but no further sync-ing happens.
I've wasted almost an entire day on this. Googling reveals plenty of other people complaining of the same problem and over a two-year time period. You would think that Blackberry, now the 90-pound weakling in the mobile hardware business, would pay careful attention to making their software work correctly with the largest purveyor of email, calendar and contacts. But they haven't.
It's too bad, because this system has a lot to recommend it (I am a retired computer professional and spent almost 50 years of my life developing software and managing large and small software projects and I am confident that I know good stuff when I see it, and much of this system *is* good). But my primary requirement is that the phone be a good organizational tool and if it ignores changes to my contacts, it's useless to me and I will return it and stick with the less elegant, but more functional Android, unless someone has a bright idea for how to fix this.

Well, I tried a workaround: use Link to sync the phone to Outlook. I just want a way to edit contacts with a computer and sync them with the phone, and very occasionally go the other way when circumstances require. You know, like we did with Palms 20 years ago?
What I found was that sync-ing contacts 1 way from device to computer produced no contacts in Outlook. Just utterly frustrated, I called the place where I bought it to try to get some help, they were clueless (and trying to call Blackberry is a waste of time; they won't talk to you unless you have a paid support contract), and so I asked for and got an RMA # and return label.
But still thinking about this, I poked around in the phone and noticed the BBLink accounts for calendar and contacts and thought "can it be that this system, which provides a nicety like Hub, which gives you an integrated, chronological view of *all* your communications -- calls, texts, emails, etc. -- be only sync-ing the BBLink accounts, not the Google accounts?". This is correct, difficult as it is to believe. So I exported my contacts from Google, imported them to Outlook, and did a 1-way sync from the computer to the device, and, mirabile dictu, the contacts showed up in the phone. After about an hour and half. Further synchronizations, done after some cleanup of my contacts were also very slow, though not this slow, since few contacts were actually being transferred in these incremental synchs.
Whoever wrote the synchronization part of Link clearly doesn't understand the concept of complexity of algorithms. (S)he also clearly didn't test this code on a contact data set of any significant size. I have about 1800 contacts. I had about the same number many years ago when I had a Palm that would sync an order of magnitude faster than this Blackberry setup and do so on much slower hardware with a slower communications channel (a serial port).
I also found that two-way synchronization produced some very odd messages, such as telling me that essentially all the contacts were in conflict. I abandoned the idea very quickly of ever trying a two-way sync (again, standard practice with Palms).
Link is clearly a crock, but I think I've coerced it into doing what I need. I have until the end of January to decide whether to keep the Z10, and as I said in my original post, there's a lot I like about this phone. So I will use that time to see if I really have found a workaround for this ridiculous synchronization weak spot.
    Hello,
I`m glad you figured out a way to do what you need to do. I have red before some other people having issues with BB Link and Outlook. I never used Outlook - I prefer Google account, which for me has worked very well, regardless what phone I use. It is true, it can take some time to sync in everything but for me it never took days as others have said.
However, once the huge amount of data is synched to your phone, you don`t need to worry about further time consuming synching.
Are you saying that synching with Google *contacts* works for you? In the sense that after you have the phone loaded up with all your Google contacts, if you make a change to the contacts with a web browser that the change appears in the phone? And vice-versa? Neither of those cases work for me. One wrinkle: I use two-step verification on my Google account. Do you? I am very suspicious that two-step verification is the cause of my issue with contacts synchronization (though, as I said in my original post, email and calendar synch do work).

  • Is Z10 able of 2 ways contacts Sync with Gmail?

    Guys,
Please help me with a contacts syncing matter. Is Z10 able to sync both ways to the device and from the device?
As I'm using gmail as bridge between Outlook and Z10 and as I saw is capable to sync one way from Gmail to phone but not  the reverse.
So, please let me know if I'm not aware of a settings or this is another issue of Z10.
It will be good for RIM to start solving these, otherwise I'll be one of the customers which will change the....team.
    Thanks!

    Yes -- just tested it.
When you add a contact on the phone by default it will link it to your Google account, local (not-synced) and the SIM card.  You can unlink from any of the ones you don't want interconnected.
It shows up instantly on Google's contacts.google.com page.

  • Contacts link and unlink

Hi, I know it is a well known bug, but I am losing any ability to use my BlackBerry z10 soon. All my contacts are linked randomly but more severely I unable to unlink contacts. After save it reverts back to what it was. Some contacts has 30 unrelated links. Hence, more and more contacts are not findable and thus the very basic function of dialing to contacts are....
Is anybody knows how to disable link feature at all?
Is anybody knows when this amazing shocking bug is due to be resolved?
Any other work around will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the Outlook plugin isn't working properly.  You could try a couple of things:
Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, uninstall iCloud, the download and install the iCloud contol panel for Windows again from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455.  Then sign back into your iCloud account and check your syncing settings again.
Uninstall iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  (Uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.)  This will replace the Outlook plugin.
Then try your calendar again and see if it will sync properly now.

  • BBZ10, Link and Sync Question (Mac)

The latest version of Link is suppose to allow device contact sync’ing with Mac’s Address Book. Does anybody know exactly how the updated version of Link handles this?  All I can find is an option to “Import Contacts”, with no indication as to whether this is a one time event or true synchronization.
I already have an issue with multiple duplicate contacts, result of my device transfer from my Bold 9900. What I don’t want is more duplicates. What I really don’t want is to inadvertently corrupt my desktop Address Book which is duplicate free.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Ken

The sync is currently one way from desktop to z10 only. In future release of the BB link, it will give you a two way sync. I would check your contacts to see if you have duplicate contacts on your sim card and device. I deleted all my contacts off the sim card and just use the device. I also turned off the sim card from contacts, along with facebook , linkin and twitter.

  • Several issues on my Classic. Contacts, BB Link and Battery Monitor. Help + rant

    Hello everyone,
Initially I wanted to make this post specific to my most recent problem (BB Link) but maybe I can get some help with all of my problems in one post.
    1. Contacts display and Caller ID - my biggest problem.
I used gmail to sync my contacts when I switched from iPhone to Android and now on BlackBerry. I had no problems with the iPhone and the Nexus 5, but Contacts on BlackBerry is bad. Very bad. I thought that switching to BlackBerry I'd have 0 problems with calling people because it's a "serious" business phone, and business people really need the call function to work 100%. I have only 250 contacts and they are fully synced (2weeks now). I don't have duplicates.
I suspect that the culprit is "smart dialing". The "feature" I can't turn off. Maybe someone can set up smart dialing better than I can.
    - I live in Romania so our Country Code is +40 .
    - The rest of the number is xxx xxx xxx.  (9 characters)
    - so, a Romanian number is +40 xxx xxx xxx when dialing from abroad.
When dialing normally (national calls), we have to add the 0 from the country code in front of the phone number. That makes our phone numbers 0xxx xxx xxx. Due to this format, I've set the "National Number Length" to 10. (Same problem with 9). And we don't have an area code.
Just now I received a call from someone and it showed his caller ID. On the next call (same person), it didn't show the caller ID. In the Call Log, I could only see the number. I pressed info and it showed the name. Then I pressed back and the name was associated with the number again in the Call Log. (10 minutes after writing this i check my call log and I notice that there are some numbers that called but are missing right now from the log. its the 2nd time this happened. they will probably show up in the next few hours).
I also cleaned all my numbers and they all have the same format now. It is CLEARLY a blackberry problem. I had NO problems with caller IDs on iPhone or Android even though the format wasnt consistent through all contacts.
And why can't I just copy the numbers locally? I tried selecting all contacts and "Copy" to local but I just can't. Apparently because they are linked contacts. It shouldn't be this hard.
Also, why do I see linkedin contacts when I chose '"hide" in its menu?
    2. BlackBerry Link - (and why isn't it integrated with blend anyway?).
    - couldn't back-up over wi-fi. iPhone and android backup over wifi on their servers. I think i connected both of those devices fewer than 10 times total to my computer. Everything was done over wifi. Now i have to connect my blackberry weekly so it can backup? I don't mind that BB doesn't make a full backup on their server, but it should be at least possible to do so over wifi on my network. (or maybe I don't know how to do it?)
    - photos. Instead of building its own library, or making it possible to sync directly with folders in my computer, BlackBerry Link uses the iPhoto Library (on my Mac) - which I DONT USE. So I set Iphoto properly, but Link doesnt detect the new updates to the library, I still can't find my specific folder in BlackBerry Link.
    3. Battery. The battery monitor is completely useless. Once, after a full charge it showed me that I had 70% battery for 4 hours until it dropped under 70%.  It is almost funny what I see in the battery monitor on a daily basis.
The battery life is ok, but I rely mostly on luck. Sometimes it would drop 10% in 10 minutes and then hold a 40% charge for several hours. I don't really know how much battery I have but it generally holds for 1 day  so I'm not that worried.
    The rant:
I  wanted to have a BB for a long time. My gf had a 9900 and even though the camera stopped working randomly, it was very reliable. I used the Q10 shortly after it launched and I noticed at that time that I need more apps than BB World can offer flipboard, banking and just a few others, so I didn't make the switch then. Now with the classic, which has  android runtime and the toolbelt (which i really liked on the 9900) I thought it's time to make the switch. But I find it surprisingly annoying exactly where I expected to see its strenght - reliability.
I don't mind the blackberry link part so much, or that android apps work a bit laggy. I expected that. But I DO expect to see who is calling me and to have a reliable battery monitor.
    Other issues:
    - it doesn't completely lock the buttons when in holster. why do I have to be careful how I position my phone in my pocket so I don't accidentally turn it off? Also the holster rubs against the volume down button when inserted (original BB holster).
    - weird noises when I change the volume during a song or youtube video
    - due to a bug in a webpage or in the browser, it used 600 mb in about 10 minutes while running as an active frame.
Apparently I blew off some steam. I really want to like this device. Hope future updates will make it better.
Edit: After a reboot the call log returned to normal....

First thing I would do is to switch the following off:
    Contacts > Settings
    Automatically Merge Contacts = Off
    Unmerge Existing Contacts = On
Just to clarify, do you have all the contacts phone numbers in the format
    +40 xxx xxx xxx ?
    This would be ideal.

  • BlackBerry Z10/Q10 - contacts stop synching or updating (both ways from device and MS Outlook)

    Hi folks,
Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this issue we are starting to see more and more at work.
Are users are connected to the BDS10 server.   When they activate the device they are using the Work Account option.
The issues are everything works excepts Contacts.   When they initially activate the device the contacts may or may not come over to device.   May or may not work accordingly with the updates from outlook and the device.   Then out of nowhere the synching and updating may stop.
I have tried everything i can think of with the user:
    moved contacts into a sub-folder
exported contacts to .csv and then re-import to possibly eliminate a bad entry
    delete and recreate the workspace
delete and readd on the BDS10 and then delete and recreate the workspace
guided the user to the old BB Article:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=KB10009&sliceId=2&cm...
Some databases failed to synchronize: Address book
If the above error occurs, please follow the below checklist
    1)  Ensure that at least one of the following fields for the contact is populated(not blank)
         First Name
         Last Name
         Company Name
    2)  Check that there are no special characters within the BlackBerry smartphone Address Book, IBM Lotus Notes address book, or Microsoft Outlook contact
    Special characters include: () # $ @ ! & % " - , ^ " ; ,
NOTE: these users have 800 or more contacts, one user has 3093 contacts!
NOTE: these users stated they NEVER had this problem with THEIR OLD BB DEVICES!
NOTE: our company is using MS Exchange 2003 ActiveSync in relation to user's mail store.
    Any help would be appreciated!

Outlook/BB contact syncing seems broken. I have around 50 contacts and it couldn't sync those properly either. i was getting duplicates each time the device was restarted.
The best way to sync contacts on a Z10/Q10 is to add the contacts directly to your mail box. I added all my contacts to me @live.com address book and my Q10 pulled those contacts just fine.
