BB Link and bluetooth sync

Hello,
I want to sync my calendar and contacts (outlook) with BB Link via bluetooth, is it possible (don't want to use wifi or cable)?
My device is BB Q5
Thanks.

Thanks for teh link.  Pairing the computer with the device was not the issue.  My question is about Blackberry link.  there does not appear to be any option to connect the device to BB link and sync contacts etc via bluetooth. Only by USB.  This ws a convenient option in the OS 7 desktop software.  BB seems to have missed a number of convenience issues in the develoment of OS 10.  Hopefully future upgrades will address some of these.

If you have a look at the Remote Buddy AJAX Remote, it seems to be possible. I've been looking at this to run my Keynote lectures; I can walk around a big hall, unlike with IR remote.

  • D-Link and Bluetooth Firmware update

I am running 10.4.6 on a dual 2.7GHz G5. I have no built in Bluetooth so rely on a D-Link DBT-120 (rev4). I have tried three times unsuccessfully to apply the 1.2 BluetoothFWUpdate to allow use of the bluetooth keyboard in single user mode.
The updater looks for a device, prepares to update, the candy bars in the progress bar twirl, then again it looks for a device to update, prepares to update, the candy bars in the progress bar twirl and then nothing for a very long time. 2 hours last time. When I try to quit, I'm told the device has not been updated.
    Profiler tells me
    Apple Bluetooth Software Version: 1.7.3f4
    Hardware Settings:
    Address: 00-11-95-0e-17-2d
    Manufacturer: Cambridge Silicon Radio
    Firmware Version: 1.525 (1.525)
Has anybody had the same problem and if so, how did you overcome it?
    Thanks.

Hi, Allan, AZTrailBlazer, and gordon —
Sorry to hear that you've joined the company of many who've experienced this frustration. But glad to hear that you succeeded, gordon.
You're correct, Allan: the firmware version reported for your Mac needs updating. For your configuration, expect to see 2.xxxx or 3.xxxx after the updater has run successfully. Your software version reflects the most up-to-date (updated via the OS X 10.4.6 Combo updater).
Bluetooth Firmware Updater 1.2 [11/23/04] is the correct package. It is compatible with all versions of Mac OS X subsequent to OS X 10.3.6 — for PPC Macs with Bluetooth chips (internal or in an adapter) that preceded the new Bluetooth 2.0+EDR specification. (There's another version available for folks running 10.3.6.) Also, as the brief description notes, "The Bluetooth Firmware Updater is for D-Link USB Adapters (revision B2 or later), and Apple internal Bluetooth modules on PowerBooks, PowerMacs, iMacs, iBooks, and eMacs."
AZTrailBlazer, I believe that what you're recalling —  "It seems that Apple has removed a page with the 10.4.3 version of the firware updater, but information on this topic for Tiger users is scarce" —— was related to a version of this updater that was made available last Winter via Software Update. Imho, firmware updates of any kind are best applied from their "stand-alone" download version — because their installation may require following special instructions. That's the case here — and the instructions have proven confusing for many people. (Please send feedback if you agree.)
I have worked with a lot of folks in this forum to help figure out how they can apply this firmware update effectively — so I'll cite a few threads that I hope will help you, too.  Here is a recent example. ( A ) and ( B ) are examples where several participants provided feedback after succeeding. ( C ) is a recent case involving a D-Link DBT-120 adapter in which jump (the individual posting) explained some fine points that s/he thought might be helpful to others.
If you do a search — e.g., for [ +("D-Link" OR "DBT-120") +firmware +(update OR updater) ] in the Other Bluetooth Devices forum with results restricted to Alexander Traud — you'll find numerous cases where he has explained this for DBT-120 adapter users who want to utilize a Bluetooth headsets and other BLuetooth-enabled devices. Alexander's post here explains a "tricky" way to confirm whether the updater has been successful.
    Warm regards,
    Dean

  • Why there isnt direct cable or Bluetooth sync link between iPod and iPhone?

I own both the iPod and the iPhone, both linked to iTunes. It is only possible to sync between the iPod to iTunes or between the iPhone to iTunes.
Why there is no possibility to directly link and sync between the iPod and iPhone ?
I will explain why this is bothering me so much. While on vacation I bought some songs from iTunes directly from my iPhone.
When i needed these songs on my iPod, it was inpossible, becouse my PC was left at home.
Because of this I am wondering don't you think irrational the impossibility to have a direct link and sync between the iPod and iPhone via white cable or via Bluetooth connections meant only for the link sync with PC ?
I mean even Nintendo DS and SONY PSP have this kind of sync links.

Rationally this means that if I can download the same things on both my devices
form the same PC based iTunes software, there must be some way to link the
same both devices directly by cable or radio frequency.
Sorry, but I do not see the logic here at all. The statement simply means iTunes can connect with multiple devices. It does not say iPods (or iPhones) can connect with each other at all. It simply doesn't work that way. I can pull a trailer with my car. You can pull a trailer with your car. Therefore my trailer should be able to pull your trailer? I don't think so.
If you think it is important, try making the suggestion at http://www.apple.com/feedback

  • Sync and Bluetooth Not Working

I have an Iphone 4S and an Ipad that will not transfer my itunes music from my PC to the devises.  My bluetooth is also not working.  I have asked Apple Support and they are unable to resolve the issue.  Any suggestions?

To transfer music from your PC to your devices install the latest version of iTunes on your PC, then connect a device using the USB cable. Click on its name in iTunes when it appears, click the music tab, select the music you want on the device, and click "sync".
What part of BlueTooth is not working? You cannot use BlueTooth to transfer music or other files. It is only for audio devices and their controls.

  • BlackBerry Link and syncing Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with stand-alone desktop installation of Outlook 2010?

I have used Blackberries in business since the beginning. Fantastic products!
Sadly after spending the better part of Feb 6th transitioning from Torch to Z10 I have had to abandon the effort and request an RMA number to return the Z10.
    Here is why:
"Link" appears to be focussed on syncing documents and media like content such as music and movies but does not, from what I can tell, sync Outlook Contacts, Calendar entries or Tasks. I have never bothered putting music or movies on a BB... never had the time to fuss with such... however, I use, edit and sync my Contacts, Calendar and Tasks between my Torch and my desktop PC every day... as in EVERY day!
From a review of postings on various forums there does not appear to be a solution in the works to this problem and the trend appears to be to use a Cloud based email or service to host such "PIM" information and then sync the handheld to the Cloud repository. This method MAY be suitable for some forms of info but it is not suitable to post such personal info on the cloud... it needs to stay on the desktop and in the handheld device, both of which are password protected and looked after carefully.
This is an odd situation, BB (RIM) cut their teeth on pages, emails, BBM and great cell calls, mainly in a business environment. Many small business users live and die on their BB. They do not run Exchange Server... they run Outlook stand alone on a desktop. To remove this functionality from the Z10 (BB10 overall perhaps) seems at best to be a serious oversight.
I wish BB the best with the Z10 and hope to see it do well. For me, I had to make a choice between the efficiency and effectiveness of syncing Outlook Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with the Torch, or hand feeding and maintaining thousands of constantly changing entries into what is undoubtedly a more powerful and wonderful looking Z10. Efficiency and effectiveness won over brawn and beauty. The Torch is back on line... It's a tool... a really great tool! Tomorrow it will process a hundred emails,  numerous SMS messages, a few BBM's, keep me on time and feed me a bunch of useful phone numbers and addresses as it has for a couple of years now. It will also spend an hour or so teathered to my laptop at a remote location where there is cell coverage but no internet. It will NOT display any movies, tweats, twits, or facebook stuff that I won't have time to look at anyway. The fast, powerful, shiny Z10 is heading in an RMA bag back to Telus.
I have a sort of sick feeling in my gut and hope to be able to sync again in the future!

my feelings and my situation excatly

  • TS3048 Keyboard won't link and screen is locked, I cant access Bluetooth settings

My keyboard won't link and screen is locked, I cant access Bluetooth settings. What do I do?

First make sure the batteries aren't dead and that the keyboard hasn't already been paired with another device. If it hasn't, the keyboard should pair automatically when you reboot. You may have to press and hold the power button on the right side of an Apple keyboard until the LED starts flashing.
    Otherwise see these support articles:
Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later) and iMac (Late 2012): Bluetooth keyboard may not pair during Setup Assistant
Apple Wireless Keyboard: Difficulty during pairing process
If you have a third-party Bluetooth keyboard, you may need a wired keyboard to complete the pairing process. It's a good idea to keep a cheap wired keyboard and mouse or trackball as backups for a desktop Mac anyway, because Bluetooth isn't completely reliable.

  • BlackBerry Link won't sync Music and Pictures with Mac

Blackberry Link 1.2.1.18 for Mac won't sync pictures or music with my BlackBerry 10 Device.  Contacts and Calendars sync fine but Music and Pictures pretend like they are syncing but then just stops with no error or warning.  Im using the latest versions of iTunes and iPhoto... None of my Music is protected and all my Photos are just regular JPG in an iPhoto Library.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    BB Link 1.2.1.18
    Mac OS 10.9.4
    BB OS 10.2.1.2977

No luck.  I tried with iTunes and iPhoto closed and it says it's syncing... then after some random amount of time iTuens opens for no reason and stays open.  iPhoto will also open and then quickly close.  I don't have iCloud set in iPhoto.  Tonight I tried the whole process with my WiFi turned off on my laptop, which is my only Internet connection.  It moved along for a little bit, and then just stops.  ALL my music files are standard MP3, so I have no clue why it doesn't work.  Im trying to copy everything use USB Storage mode now, just so I can have stuff on my phone.  Surely BlackBerry can fix this?  I've seen other people also having lots of issues with BlackBerry Link.

  • I saw contact and notes bluetooth sync options for my MacBook in Settings!

I went under the advanced options for my MacBook, which was paired to the iPhone, in order to 'forget' the device so as to reinitiate a pairing as i had freshly installed Snow Leopard. This time I saw some extra options for the device. One of them was Contacts sync. There was some 'advanced' options too but I decided to explore them after repairing the device so i selected 'forget this device'. After repairing they never reappeared!
PS: my iphone 3g is running iOS4.1 and is not jail broken.
    Neerav

WiFi or Bluetooth syncing is not supported by the iPhone, so it doesn't really matter if these options appear or not as you wouldn't be able to do so anyway.

  • Hi, ok so at my old job i got given a laptop and i synced my iPhone to that laptop using iCloud, now i have left that job and i have bought my own macbook. I just linked my iPhone to my new macbook via iCloud and now pictures from my old work colleges

Hi, ok so at my old job i got given a laptop and i synced my iPhone to that laptop using iCloud, now i have left that job and i have bought my own macbook. I just linked my iPhone to my new macbook via iCloud and now pictures from my old work colleges that are obviously using that laptop have popped up on my new laptop, does that mean all my pictures in the last 3 months have been loa
ding onto that old work laptop as well as my new one??!!! if so how do i delete my pictures from the past 3 months off that old work macbook? HELP!!

If they are photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll, then delete them from photo stream.  That will delete them from photo stream in iCloud and on any other devices/computers.  Of couse it won't delete them if they have already been moved out of the photo stream album download folder on the work computer.
Then change your iCloud password so the old work computer no longer has access to your iCloud data or photo stream.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2617.

Many people are finding their Iphone 4S drops connection with their VW (Passat etc) integrated bluetooth hands free system after working fine for 5, 10, 20 minutes. The only way to reconnect is to switch the car off or turn the Iphone bluetooth off & back on.
This is a dangerous fault and it appears that both Apple & VW have no solution (or are ignoring as they have already sold you a phone & a car).

  • Motorola L7 SLVR bluetooth sync in 10.4.7

My question is regarding whether built in support for this phone, the L7 SLVR has been added into 10.4.7, or is it still left out. I tried to find a list for supported bluetooth sync phones, but the apple list I came accross was unclear as to if it applied to usb or blue tooth.
So if you have any experience or a link to blue tooth supported sync phones please let me know

I have a V3i with the exact same firmware, and prior to the 10.4.7 update could only pair my phone via bluetooth but not use any services. Since the update I can sync, file transfer and connect to the internet all via bluetooth. Seems someone has sorted something out somewhere. Hope this helps.

  • Bluetooth sync but no voice 5s suspect lastest update

bluetooth syncs but no voice on 5s suspect lastest update as the set works with other 5s not updated

Thanks John for the quick reply.........
I tried the link and deleted the duplicate firewall exceptions but it did not seem to help.  Sometimes I can connect via bluetooth but I keep having to start and stop DM 6 until it will sync.  What is interesting is that Blackberry Device Manager shows that it IS connected and my phone is blinking the light showing that it is connected to the computer. It seems as though DM 6 has isssues establishing a connection.  My current device software version is 4.5.0.175.   As I said before there was no problem with DM 4.5.  I wonder if I should have deleted that version before installing DM 6 over it. I don't think that's the problem since Device manager easily connects with my phone............Greg

  • HT1373 So i bought music on a different computer but oAn the same itunes account and on the same ipod and when i get on my original computer and i sync my ipod my purchases that were on the other computer didnt show up. How can i put them on my computer/i

So i bought music on a different computer but oAn the same itunes account and on the same ipod and when i get on my original computer and i sync my ipod my purchases that were on the other computer didnt show up. How can i put them on my computer/ipod

Download them to the computer to which the iPod is synced, re-sync.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • Several issues on my Classic. Contacts, BB Link and Battery Monitor. Help + rant

    Hello everyone,
Initially I wanted to make this post specific to my most recent problem (BB Link) but maybe I can get some help with all of my problems in one post.
    1. Contacts display and Caller ID - my biggest problem.
I used gmail to sync my contacts when I switched from iPhone to Android and now on BlackBerry. I had no problems with the iPhone and the Nexus 5, but Contacts on BlackBerry is bad. Very bad. I thought that switching to BlackBerry I'd have 0 problems with calling people because it's a "serious" business phone, and business people really need the call function to work 100%. I have only 250 contacts and they are fully synced (2weeks now). I don't have duplicates.
I suspect that the culprit is "smart dialing". The "feature" I can't turn off. Maybe someone can set up smart dialing better than I can.
    - I live in Romania so our Country Code is +40 .
    - The rest of the number is xxx xxx xxx.  (9 characters)
    - so, a Romanian number is +40 xxx xxx xxx when dialing from abroad.
When dialing normally (national calls), we have to add the 0 from the country code in front of the phone number. That makes our phone numbers 0xxx xxx xxx. Due to this format, I've set the "National Number Length" to 10. (Same problem with 9). And we don't have an area code.
Just now I received a call from someone and it showed his caller ID. On the next call (same person), it didn't show the caller ID. In the Call Log, I could only see the number. I pressed info and it showed the name. Then I pressed back and the name was associated with the number again in the Call Log. (10 minutes after writing this i check my call log and I notice that there are some numbers that called but are missing right now from the log. its the 2nd time this happened. they will probably show up in the next few hours).
I also cleaned all my numbers and they all have the same format now. It is CLEARLY a blackberry problem. I had NO problems with caller IDs on iPhone or Android even though the format wasnt consistent through all contacts.
And why can't I just copy the numbers locally? I tried selecting all contacts and "Copy" to local but I just can't. Apparently because they are linked contacts. It shouldn't be this hard.
Also, why do I see linkedin contacts when I chose '"hide" in its menu?
    2. BlackBerry Link - (and why isn't it integrated with blend anyway?).
    - couldn't back-up over wi-fi. iPhone and android backup over wifi on their servers. I think i connected both of those devices fewer than 10 times total to my computer. Everything was done over wifi. Now i have to connect my blackberry weekly so it can backup? I don't mind that BB doesn't make a full backup on their server, but it should be at least possible to do so over wifi on my network. (or maybe I don't know how to do it?)
    - photos. Instead of building its own library, or making it possible to sync directly with folders in my computer, BlackBerry Link uses the iPhoto Library (on my Mac) - which I DONT USE. So I set Iphoto properly, but Link doesnt detect the new updates to the library, I still can't find my specific folder in BlackBerry Link.
    3. Battery. The battery monitor is completely useless. Once, after a full charge it showed me that I had 70% battery for 4 hours until it dropped under 70%.  It is almost funny what I see in the battery monitor on a daily basis.
The battery life is ok, but I rely mostly on luck. Sometimes it would drop 10% in 10 minutes and then hold a 40% charge for several hours. I don't really know how much battery I have but it generally holds for 1 day  so I'm not that worried.
    The rant:
I  wanted to have a BB for a long time. My gf had a 9900 and even though the camera stopped working randomly, it was very reliable. I used the Q10 shortly after it launched and I noticed at that time that I need more apps than BB World can offer flipboard, banking and just a few others, so I didn't make the switch then. Now with the classic, which has  android runtime and the toolbelt (which i really liked on the 9900) I thought it's time to make the switch. But I find it surprisingly annoying exactly where I expected to see its strenght - reliability.
I don't mind the blackberry link part so much, or that android apps work a bit laggy. I expected that. But I DO expect to see who is calling me and to have a reliable battery monitor.
    Other issues:
    - it doesn't completely lock the buttons when in holster. why do I have to be careful how I position my phone in my pocket so I don't accidentally turn it off? Also the holster rubs against the volume down button when inserted (original BB holster).
    - weird noises when I change the volume during a song or youtube video
    - due to a bug in a webpage or in the browser, it used 600 mb in about 10 minutes while running as an active frame.
Apparently I blew off some steam. I really want to like this device. Hope future updates will make it better.
Edit: After a reboot the call log returned to normal....

First thing I would do is to switch the following off:
    Contacts > Settings
    Automatically Merge Contacts = Off
    Unmerge Existing Contacts = On
Just to clarify, do you have all the contacts phone numbers in the format
    +40 xxx xxx xxx ?
    This would be ideal.
