BB Link as a utility - thoughts

So a month with the Z10 and working with Link. Honestly not finding much use for the solution as it is completely cumbersome and inappropriately slow.
For those of us technilogically savvy and are willing to - you may want to leverage your standard windows documents folder method of moving files (songs and other stuff).... I find it easier to navigate to the SD card/on board memory and drag/drop the files onto the phone.
Further - if you have BOX.net, and WiFi i find it easier to drag and drop using the file utility on the phone. The only reason I see using LINK is for weekly backups...

  • Download link to reset utility 1.0.4 for windows doesn't work!!!

The download button on the support.apple.com site does not work!!!!  It keeps taking me in circles.  All I'm trying to do is get the reset utility so I can fix the real problem with my apple product.  This is starting to make windows support look relatively good.

You can't. 10.1.0.4 is a patch set and is available only from Metalink. You'll need a support contract to use Metalink.

  • Utility to collect/delete unused links?

[INDD CC]  I inherited a very long do and have to update all links. Is there a way to collect and delete all unused links from the links palette and the links folder once they've been replaced? Kind of like how the swatch palette has a "select all unused" swatches and you can delete them?
    thnx ~~carol

I must have read that one too quickly, because I didn't notice that he said "links palette." I thought he was only talking about unused links in a folder. If there are extra items in the links panel, they could be on the pasteboard, but there is a page indicator in the window, so I'm guessing he didn't miss that. May be they are hidden objects (try Object>Show All On Spread) or on a hidden layer (check the layers panel). If they are on the pasteboard but you can't see them, they could have been pushed nearly off the edge. If you select all and deselect the visible items with the shift key, you will see the frame handles of anything that is mostly off of the pasteboard and into never-never land.

  • Missing Link Utility Missing In Action

Missing Link is a utility that allows you to open, run, or launch an application, file, or almost anything else on your Mac from a link or a bookmark in a browser. For example, one of your bookmarks in your Safari bookmarks bar could be "TextEdit" which would, when clicked on, open up the application TextEdit.
Unfortunately (for me, at least), though it worked fine in Panther, Missing Link will not work on my current hardware ... and I miss it so!
Anyone know of an equivalent thing available anywhere? I've done all the normal searches, of course, and have turned up nothing.
Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

  • Link utilization impact on responsiveness

    Hello,
I'm reading a book, and here it says:That as the link utilization grows (even from 10% to 50%) the responsiveness time grows. I always thought that if the link is ~90proc utilized, then the drops can occur. Can someone explain from physics field, why the utilization till ~50% increases the latency. If we would have a 10gb link and it will be utilized 50% the user will feel bigger latency than the link utilized ~20% ? Why ?

The interrelationship between link loading and latency (and drops), and its impact to traffic, is much, much more complex than what that text is explaining.
Without touching on the many, many variables involved, I suspect what the text is alluding to is latency that exponentially begins to increase as utilization approaches 100% due to queuing delays.  Simple queuing theory would, with utilization below 50%, (rarely) should there be more than one element queued.  Once, however, utilization rises above 75%, elements queued will start to skyrocket.  This is what the first graph is showing.
In simple queuing, we normally allow for an infinite queue, but we certainly can decrease possible latency by limiting the possible queue depth.  Of course, in real networks, a high drop rate generally is adverse to most traffic too.  I.e. even though you can avoid high latency, high drops might actually be even more adverse.
If you search the Internet, you can find simple queuing calculators which will, given a certain load percentage, show you what the average queue depth will be at that load percentage.
In any case, again, real world link loading, and it's impact to traffic, is very complex.  Depending on the needs of the traffic, even 30% utilization might be too high while conversely 100% utilization doesn't always mean you need more bandwidth.

  • A Unix Utility (or Scripting) to Do Major Read-Write-Seek Testing on a HD?

I'm wondering if there is a utility in Darwin -- or a (reliable, safe, free) Unix utility I can download -- that will do extensive read-write-seek testing on a hard drive?
Or if not, could I use some kind of scripting commands in Terminal to do something along these lines? Which you'd have to walk me through... : )

I don't think this is what you're looking for but at least the suggestion will keep your quest visible if it does nothing else.
smartmontools can monitor hard drives with SMART and can run tests to check the integrity of the disks and (hopefully) warn of imminent failure. The links suggest you want something to test speed/performance, though, so I don't know that smartmontools will be of any use. Since I don't really understand the content of the links well, though, I thought I'd mention this just in case.
smartmontools is available from sourceforge at http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/. You may have to compile it yourself. I know I compiled it, though you could check for a pre-compiled version. (I might have decided to compile from source for some reason anyway.) The compilation is straightforward, though. Just takes a little time to get it configured the way you want and installed as a daemon if that's how you want to run it. (If you don't want to run it as a daemon, of course, you don't have to spend time getting that bit to work!)

  • Share OneNote Page Links with unregistered users

    Greetings,
I have uploaded a Notebook that is published and shared via an Office 365 Sharepoint website.
Unregistered users can view the content of the notebook simply by clicking the link that leads to it.
I have created a list of links that lead to specific pages of the notebook but these links cannot
be utilized by users who have not signed in with a Microsoft 365 account first.
Thus, I would like to know if it is possible to share links to a specific OneNote page of a
notebook that is hosted on an Office 365 SharePoint website, and have guests view its
content without having to sign in a Microsoft account. Any suggestions?
    Thank you

Hi haroair, I think the only way that would be possible is if each user changes their browser settings individually. Otherwise you'd have to set up permissions to allow anonymous access.

  • Aiport Expresses No Longer Working - Airport Utility for Windows 5.6.1

I have two airport express devices, each connected to a stereo to stream itunes.  Both have abruptly stopped working and the Airport Utility no longer recognizes either device. Neither device is available in itunes as a "speaker" anymore.  When I run the airport utility scan, I receive the following message:
"Airport utility was unable to find any airport devices......."  The devices are in range (always have been and have always worked up until now).
What I have tried so far:
    Uninstall and reinstall Airport Utility
    Reset the airport express devices
Same results as before, Airport utility is unable to find either device.

  • Link editor - & and | symbols

What's the use of "|" (pipe) symbol available in the calculations area of the Link editor? I thought it was an "OR" operator. But it doesn't seem to work as an "OR"
Any ideas? I understand "&" is used to do a concatenate.

    hi,
As per my understanding the link editor is based on xPATH. I have gone through some tutorial pages of xpath.
In the logical expression thread you intimated that <b>or</b> and <b>and</b> is working as loical operators.
In the same way | this symbol is used for the purpose of union operator.
I am also working to make a good example. If you know something, plase update here.
Some one else is asked for the not opertor. Try with this.
    <b>not()</b>

  • CE Utility Diskette for Lenovo 3000 series ???

I'm searching for this Lenovo Tool ...
Which was described in the Lenovo 3000 Hardware Maintenance Manual
    Can everybody help me ??
    Thanx
    Frankmen

    frankmen, welcome to the forum,
I wasn't aware that any Business Partners in Germany are allowed to provide warranty service on 3000 or IdeaPad systems, please correct me if I'm wrong on this; it would be interesting to know.
Being a business partner you will be able to contact your Lenovo representative who will certainly be able to put you in touch with the person(s) to speak to about this.
Also, if anyone were to post a link to the utility from these forums it would be immediately removed by moderators.

  • M.youtube.com "Watch Video" link does nothing

I have a 8310 on AT&T running 4.5.0.110 OS. I have the BB browser selected with BB emulation and all option checkboxes selected. This was working but now when I click a link in m.youtube.com I get nothing. Nada. No reaction to the link being selected.
    Thoughts?
    thanks

just keyframe the y-position of the clip.
set the keyframe behaviour to linear.
Put another clip over the first one, do same... other direction.
    A bit 'tricky'... but possible.

  • Removing Links from Acrobat 9

I created a page in Quark and used a soft break (Shift/Return) to break a URL to the next line. I then exported to PDF. The link is broken in the PDF. I don't want to fix it with the link tool, I want to eliminate the part of the link that works. Any thoughts on how to do this? Thanks.

Thanks for your help. I have tried both of these options to no avail. The link tool appears to just draw a box over an area you want to add a link. The select object tool (text insertion/pointer tool?) allows me to add a link if I right click on it. If I left click on it, it wants to go to the web (using the broken link).
Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Just a thought...is there any way to disable links across an entire PDF. I know you can do it locally, but I'd like to share a PDF with no links enabled and don't want to worry about the users having to make the change to their preferences.
    Thanks!

  • Long list of links

    I'm writing a site that has a long list of links.(approx 150)
    They are
broadly in 3 categories. What is the best way to display
    these without
too much scrolling etc. Currently I have the major links as
    icons
surrounding an Iframe containing the rest of the links.
I had thought about dropdown lists, and collapsible lists,
    but I wounder
if there is any other way to achieve this. I would prefer not
    to have to
use javascript, and my hosting package does not have any
    inbuilt
    database support.
    Hope this makes sense.
    James

If it were me, I would probably just create a main page
    linking to 3 pages
for the 3 categories, and simply list the links on each page,
    with a little
set of navigation links on each page, something like:
    LINKS MAIN PAGE | CATEGORY 1 | CATEGORY 2 | CATEGORY 3
I'm kind of Amish about these things, but I think most users
    much prefer a
straightforward HTML interface than iframes, etc.
