BB Link, USB Sync to Outlook????

When will I be able to sync to my desktop Outlook  via USB to my  new Z10 using BB Link?  ... I see posts from early February saying BB would release an update for Link to fix this glaring ommision.   Anyone know?

Yesterday I pre-ordered the Z10 and after learned of this issue.  Today I called Verizon Wireless and Tech Support is unaware of this issue.  They, like me, hopes this is corrected before the release.  If this feature is not corrected by the time I receive my new BB, I will be forced to return the phone and make the switch to the iPhone.
I can't believe that BB designed the new Link software omitting such an important feature, which had always been a part of their Desktop Software and is critical to my efficient use of the phone

  • How do I remove one of the calendars from iCloud but keep it on the iPhone to sync with Outlook by USB and keep the other calendars synced on iCloud ?

iPhone 5, Macs and iPads at home, Windoze7 system at work.
Using iCloud to sync calendars, contacts, etc on all the home devices.  Used USB cable to sync at work with the Windows system, with the Outlook 2010 corporate account (corporate server).  I need only the Outlook calendar to be synced, syncing the contacts created too many problems with duplication, etc.  No need for that.  Worked fine until the latest upgrate to iOS7 and iTunes 11.1.  Used to have a calendar that was not on iCloud and was simply and exclusively syncing between the iPhone and the Windows computer at work. The other 3 calendars synced fine with the macs and iOS devices via iCloud but not with the machine at work - keeping private records private.
Upon the iOS upgrade, all calendars are now on iCloud.  I am no longer able to remove one - for security too - from the iCloud and sync it with the Windows computer exclusively.  I managed to sync it once on the PC with iTunes by switching iCloud off on the iPhone before connection by USB cable.  Trying it again, it tells me that it will erase all items on the Outlook account (the "more than 25% of your records are going to change" alert) and won't add or modify any.  I stopped the sync in time...
Tried on the iCloud site for a solution to remove the calendar, nothing.
There is no iCloud setup on this corporate computer - no access permitted. The USB cable connection is the only solution and up to the upgrade of the iOS this went seamlessly.
    Any solution out there?
    Thanks

I share a similar situation (usb iTunes sync with Outlook with my corporate laptop; personal calendar on icloud).
With IOS7, at first, iTunes/Windows does not propose Outlook sync anymore. I need to switch off calendar from iTunes to enable usual usb sync with Outlook. I had to sync it twice while checking "replace iphone data" to get a stable behaviour (like before) IOS7.When I try to re-enable icloud calendars, it proposes me to merge them...
I did not test merging so far...
IOS7 and iTunes 11.1 are not completely polished ;-)

  • TS4118 Ever since I got the iphone 5  my phone/icloud calender and contacts will not remain synced with Outlook.  I am constantly having to sign in and sign out and  unlink and re link to Outlook.

Ever since I got the iphone 5  my phone/icloud calender and contacts will not remain synced with Outlook.  I am constantly having to sign in and sign out and  unlink and re link to Outlook.  this creates multiple categories of contacts and calenders and I have no idea which is syncing with my phone, ipad, outlook.  Help.  thanks.

Sounds like the Outlook plugin isn't working properly.  You could try a couple of things:
Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, uninstall iCloud, the download and install the iCloud contol panel for Windows again from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455.  Then sign back into your iCloud account and check your syncing settings again.
Uninstall iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  (Uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.)  This will replace the Outlook plugin.
Then try your calendar again and see if it will sync properly now.

  • NEWS FROM TECH SUPPORT - UPDATED LINK COMING to SOLVE OUTLOOK SYNCING ETC

I talked to Tech support today Regarding Outlook sync... there is a work around... defining a hotmail account (with hotmail connector)  in outlook , making hotmail the contact database.... it will sync to the online hotmail account . when you then create the hotmail email on your Z10 .. it does have sync options for your contacts, and calendar.. not a big deal for me because I already had a htomail account in Outlook (as well as 3 other business accounts...
    ALSO:
the tech guy says by end of month ( I suspect before US release):
    Blackberry will have:
    * IMPROVED MIGRATION FROM OLD BLACKBERRYs
    * "OPPOURTUNITIES to IMPORT CALENDAR, etc. (whatever that means)
    * TWO WAY SYNC to OUTLOOK

    Thank you.
This same coming Link upgrade was announced in this forum three weeks ago:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Z10/New-Blackberry-10-Sync-to-Outlook/m-p/2170993#...
And the Outlook.com/Hotmail sync is detailed here:
    http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2013/02/how-to-setup-outlook-to-wirelessly-synchronize-your-contacts-...
But I can assure you, the outlook.com/hotmail sync workaround is only a workaround, not a solution. I've been using this not for ~weeks and it works, just not a complete solution.

  • Putting pressure on BB/Rim to reintroduce USB syncing with Microsoft Outlook

Is there some way that we can put pressure on BB/Rim to reintroduce USB syncing with Microsoft Outlook? I work in a world where over-the-air or cloud services are unacceptable because of the security risks, either real or perceived. I know there are many other people like me. I can't believe that, after having made such monumentally stupid and high-profile mistakes in the past, BB/Rim has now decided to alienate so many loyal BB customers by dispensing with such a simple transfer mechanism. The Z10 is a beautiful machine but the lack of synchronicity is getting in the way of my doing business. Judging by some of the posts I've seen, there are quite a lot of others who feel the same way. Assuming that BB/Rim executives were not  drunk, stoned or brainstem dead when they came up with this stupid plan to do away with USB syncing, is there any action we can take to make BB/Rim aware of the rapidly escalating damage they are doing to their own brand? After all, if the Z10 fails, it's difficult to see what long-term future there will be for the company anyway, so you would think that BB/Rim wouldn't want to chuck their future away, would you?

The best way is to call O2 and ask for this issue to be escalated to BlackBerry Tech Support, they need to hear from the carriers as well.
I'd also drop a line to BlackBerry at www.blackberry.com/contact

  • ITunes no longer able to sync with Outlook

    Hello,
This is my first ever post on any forum so please go easy on me.
I have an iPhone 4s, and iPad1 and run Windows7. I recently tried using iCloud but didn't like the Outlook calendar (appearance or speed) so wanted to go back to just syncing via my USB cable.
I have followed all steps on here, restoring the iPhone, removing and reinstalling iTunes completely (5 times now) and my phone and iPad will no longer sync, they just sit in never land at either backing up calendar or contacts (I have tried leaving them on for hours at a time). I have now lost my calendar and all of the music off the iPhone so hoping for a solution.
I have heard iTunes no longer supports syncing via iTunes, they want you to use iCloud but can't find anything definitive on this but it would explain why I can't get this to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I feel like I have tried everything.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using Google's sync services that are free yet? It sounds to me like you are not using Exchange for your iPhone with work. So, that would leave it open to use with Google. Keep your Google sync with your work calendar (Outlook), then sync up the Google Calendar with iCal so you have the calendar at home. Separately, setup your iPhone to sync real-time with your Google Calendar using the Microsoft Exchange settings. If all you are trying to do is get your one calendar to be the same everywhere, that will do it and it's all free. Here are links to instructions:

  • N86 no longer syncs with Outlook Calendar and Task

I have been having much troubles with syncing my N86 (recently updated to 30.009 firmware) to my Outlook 2003 with Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1.
At first, the Contacts kept duplicating themselves.  I have about 1000 contacts in my Outlook, but Ovi Suite (and my N86 device) ends up sometimes with 1800 contacts -- of which 800 are duplicates.  This is very annoying and time consuming to clean up of course.  I have discovered that the problem is somehow linked to Ovi.com.  I have since turned off syncing to Ovi.com and only keep my N86 device in sync with Outlook and Ovi Suite.  But that wasn't before I had to basically delete all my contacts from the N86 device and from Ovi Suite, followed by a sync to Outlook.
Around this same time, I have noticed that my N86 device was missing appointments that I had entered into Outlook 2003.  I discovered that the N86 device no longer syncs to Outlook through Ovi Suite.  I keep getting the error message "Sync Canceled -- Could not sync calendar items and tasks. Plug the USB cable into your device again or connect via Bluetooth. Then sync again."  I did reconnect my N86 device but the same error message shows each time.  Basically, Ovi Suite has stopped syncing Calendar items with my N86 device now.
Can anyone suggest what might have gone wrong?  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  What can I do to get my calendar items back into my device?
    - Kin

    Hi Tickles,
Could you be more specific about your issue.
Which operating system do u use?
Are you trying to connect thru cable or thru Bluetooth?
Go to OVI suite -> help -> About nokia OVI suite -> System information. Paste the information...

  • Playbook sync to outlook?

    Pre-purchase Question:
Can Playbook sync with Outlook 2010: Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes directly through USB? Do not want "sky". Do not want to have to link through some intermediary program. Want a direct link to Outlook which will update Outlook & Playbook each time it is plugged in.
    Thanks,

    No.

I don't even know what "sky" is in your reference, to comment on why'd you want to not want that.

Sorry, again, no. There is NO tablet of which I am aware which syncs directly to Outlook (not the iPad, Tab or Xoom). Your personal account BlackBerry handheld device WILL sync directly to Outlook when connected for calendar, contacts, tasks and notes, and business or BES accounts using enterprise mail will do so for messages.
Honestly, I think you need to reconsider your demands. The Playbook will serve you well, but with your demands, you'll be doing without any tablet (at least for now). Your "outlook" actually contains email messages from some email server... gmail, yahoo, a private domain, and THOSE domains are what we should be talking about for messages -- not Outlook.

  • Sync with outlook 2007

I have problem to sync my MS outlook 2007 with iphone 4 even I follow the intruction on this link www.sync-iphone.com.
    nothing appear on my iphone.

Have you also looked at the Apple help articles? iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting contact and calendar syncing via USB on Windows if you are using Microsoft Outlook and Advanced troubleshooting for Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010

  • Fixing iphone sync with outlook

There are multiple threads about problems snycing iTunes with Outlook (iPad, iPhone etc.).  This affects Outlook calendar and contacts, often creating multiple contact lists and false calendar entires, often pre-fixed "ModGrp" or ModCal".  After multiple tries I think I have figured out what you need to do: here's what worked for me, I hope it works for you.
First the cause.  If your PC/Mac has crashed with Outlook open you probably have bad data in Outlook. Most software is fault-tolerant to this but not iTunes (my seventh software to link to Outlook and the only one not fault tolerant, so I'm certain it's an iTunes problem).  I have written this for solving contact problems with explanation afterwards for calendars (you'll change item 6 and read the footnote).  Read the instructions first so you know what you're about to do.  You will have to rename a folder and delete your iPhones history but otherwise that's about it.
    1)    Download scanpst.exe from Microsoft, instructions are at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227.  Print this, you'll need it at step 5
    2)    Close both Outlook and iTunes
    3)    Got to C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\
In File Manager use Folder Options from the Tools menu and select Show hiden files and folders from the View Tab, if you can't see this folder
    4)    Rename the folder \SyncServices as \SyncServices.old or something.  Once you have finished you can delete this folder
    5)    Use scanpst.exe (step 1 above) to fix your Outlook file.  Instructions for this are at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227 noted above
    6)    When scanpst is complete and has closed, open Outlook and go to your contact list.  Select each ModGrp and hit Delete, then confirm deletion
    7)    Be sure not to delete any contact lists that you want to retain, then close Outlook
    8)    Open iTunes with your iPhone/Pad/iWhatever plugged in to USB and select iPhone/iPad/iWhatever
    9)    Select your iWhatever in the Devices list on the left and select Preferences from the Edit menu at the top
    10)  Click the Devices button in the dialog box and click Reset Snyc History, just in case.  Click OK to close the Dialog Box
    11)  At the top of your iPhone Device window click the Info button (second from the left right at the top)
    12)  Deselect Contacts, Calendars and Mail options so iTunes doesn't sync with Outlook in any way
You'll get a prompt to remove contacts/whatever lists from your iWhatever device.  Choose the Remove Contacts button
    13)  Hit Apply or Sync (bottom right of iTunes).  This should have cleared iTunes of bad ModGrp sync lists and iPhone contacts etc.
Next we'll restore these from Outlook
    14)  Reselect to sync with Outlook Contacts, Calendars and Mail - the options you deselected in step 12.  Hit Apply or Sync
The above should restore all the valid contact and other data from Outlook onto your iPhone etc
    15)  Once sync has completed reopen Outlook and check the bad MdGrp lists have gone.  Unplug iPhone and check you don't have multiple ModGrp lists
I haven't had calender problems but my understanding from posts to this forum is that in step 6 above, you may have to export the appointments calendars from your calendar and then delete the calendar.  It's much more involved than having a contacts list problem.
If you choose to tidy up aftwards, go back to steps 3 and 4 and delete the backup .old folder as iTunes created  a new one when you opened it at step 8.
I have run the above three times now and it works every time.  Since every tenth or so time I open iTunes it causes my PC to lock, usually with Outlook open, so I expect this to be a frequent event.  iTunes is well documented as a digustingly bad piece of software and seems to be the penalty we pay for having an iPhone, which actually works.  Maybe when Apple adopts Flash I'll buy an iPad and double the number of times I have to run it, but not otherwise.  iTunes and Flash are the two main reasons I have not bought a Mac or iPad.
    Have fun.

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders
    Sub RemoveFolders_Click()
        Dim oOutlook As Outlook.Application
        Set oOutlook = New Outlook.Application
        Set objNameSpace = oOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI")
        Call CleanFolders(objNameSpace.Folders)
    End Sub
    Sub CleanFolders(objFolders As Outlook.Folders)
        For i = objFolders.Count To 1 Step -1
            If Left(objFolders(i).Name, 7) = "_ModGrp" Then
                objFolders.Remove( i )
            Else
If Not objFolders(i).Folders Is Nothing Then
                    Call CleanFolders(objFolders(i).Folders)
                End If
            End If
        Next i
    End Sub

  • Meetings created on Q10 do not sync to Outlook 2013 calendar

Am using a Shaw email account on Outlook 2013. Just got the Q10 and cannot seem to sync. It syncs from Outlook to the phone but not from the phone to Outlook.
    BB Link ver 1.2.0.28
    Office Professional 2013
BB Link does not throw and error messages and shows up as successful sync.
Is it possible that the phone is not able to write to the Outlook pst file. But I would have imagined that it would throw an error message is what is confusing me.
Has anyone else had this issue or something similar?
There is an update for the phone but I did not apply it. I didn't want to mess it up further.
The user was using a BB torch before and we moved him to the q10. He was having somewhat of a similar issue just that he would get meeting reminders but Outlook would not display them in the calendar. Now the q10 will not even send any of the calendar appointments to Outlook.
Thanks for the help. If anyone can offer any suggestions

    LarryMcJ -
I read your first post and checked all the items you pointed out. I was already set up in the way you described but alas my problem remained. I appreciated the suggestions and checked them carefully but it had no effect on my problem.
I found it interesting that I could change an item on the BB (no matter where it was created) and the change would propagate over to iCal but a new item created on the BB would not come over. I also tried using the click box to overwrite the BB from iCal but items created on my BB were completely unaffected by the sync.
I had no calendars tied to the BB email addy. I did find that my calendars were somehow linked to various (random?) email addresses (I use 5). Things have started working better since I changed all the calendars to tie to one email addy. I was able to get Google sync to work without a hitch after about an hour of playing with it and there have been no problems since. Maybe RIM should try to hire some Google developers away ;-)
Anyway -  the headache and frustration were just not worth it. There may be a way to get my setup to work with DTM but, honestly, I don't have the time, patience or the hair left to pull out. I am no longer trying to find a solution - I have moved on.

  • I use iCal, work wants me to sync with Outlook, how do I do this?

    Dear Community.
I'm happily using iCloud to run my diary across all my Apple devices, how do I get my current setup to sync with Outlook so my office can see my diary?
I don't want to change how I make appt's, I can make an appt on my phone, iPad or MacBook and it'll sync nicely, I just need to be able to share one specific Work diary in my iCloud/ Apple account with Outlook. I use Outlook on my MacBook for email only, I have no interest in using the calendar function other than to keep it synced to allow my colleagues to access it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's bad enough that people want to be able to track my daily schedules, without having to spend hours trying to figure out how to keep the system I have for diary management and not have to move everything just to placate someone.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Crackyrich,
I may have a possible solution for you.  Since you have everything set up in iCloud, have you tried the Calendar sharing feature?  You can create a work calendar to keep it separate from your personal calendar, and share the work calendar privately or publicly.   Here's how:
    iCloud: Calendar sharing overview
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2689
You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. Sharing gives you flexibility in managing calendars. For example, you could create a calendar for your child’s sports team and share it privately with just the coaches so they can edit it. You could also share it publicly with all the parents so they can view (but not change) it whenever they want.
    Sharing works as follows:
Public calendars can be shared with anyone. To access public calendars, visitors need to use Calendar on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or any other app that supports the iCalendar file format.
A public calendar can’t be edited by anyone but the calendar owner (the creator).
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users.
Participants can view the calendar using iCloud Calendar; the Calendar app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or a Mac; or Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer.
As the owner (creator) of a shared calendar, you assign edit privileges to the invitees to control who can modify the calendar. There are two types of access privileges that can be assigned:
Participants with View Only access can:
View the calendar and change their view (from day to week, for example), without affecting the view of other participants
    Change their own calendar preferences
Participants with View & Edit access privileges can do everything listed above, plus:
    Create and delete calendar events
Change details (for example, the name, date, and time) for calendar events
Track the responses of guests invited to a calendar event
Participants can’t invite new people to a shared calendar.
Note:    If multiple participants try to edit a shared calendar at the same time, the changes that are saved first are kept and reflected in the calendar. The person whose changes arenʼt saved sees a message that his or her changes werenʼt saved.
If you disable your iCloud account, any shared calendars you created become unavailable; all participants automatically receive an email notifying them that the calendar is no longer shared.

iCloud: Share a calendar with others
You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. For specifics about viewing and editing privileges for shared calendars, and how participants can access the calendars, see Calendar sharing overview.
    Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note:    You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.
    Share a calendar publicly
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar you want to share, then select Public Calendar.
Note:    You can also share the same calendar privately. For instructions, see the previous task, “Share a calendar privately.”
To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.
Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.
The people you specify automatically receive an invitation email that includes the calendar’s URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.
In the sidebar, a shared calendar has a dark Share button.
You can also resend invitations to one or more invited participants at any time.

  • Is Blackberry going to support syncing Installed Outlook 2013 + using Windows 8 +?

There are many threads and posts about the fact that Blackberry does not currently (April 2015) support syncing contacts and calendar items from Outllook 2013 (installed version at least).  My experience with this is with Windows 8.1.
I can copy my .PST files to my laptop which run Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 and it syncs fine there.
I have the same current release of Desktop Software which installs Link for Windows 1.2.4.  on both machines.
I would like some daylight on this issue.  Does Blackberry intend to support this or not?  I really like my Passport but IT IS MANDATORY THAT I BE ABLE TO SYNC MY OUTLOOK. I am a consultant and not on a corporate exchange service. Cleints send me invites to meetings etc. which populate my Desktop Outlook. I must be able to sync those and the contacts with my Blackberry Passport.
The Windows phones sync with Outlook just fine and in fact have an Outlook application installed. I am thinking about switching.

Well, I can't speak to your concerns about BB Management, nor about your desire for them to respond here. While they to from time to time post here, it's rare and should never be expected...the charter of this site is clear about what to expect.

You had asked specifically about PC-based synchronization, this might be of use:
    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/60798/tom1359418099212.jsp
I do not know if that matches your configuration or not, but that's the official information we have available.
You did not originally ask about OTA sync, which is why I did not address that...but that indeed does work...refer:

There are I am sure many other threads that might be of interest to you, so a few minutes searching might reveal information that you desire. You might even find someone else with your exact configuration, and has it working...I don't know, for I shifted to OTA sync exclusively (I use both Hotmail as well as GMail for contacts and calendar).
    Good luck!

  • TungstenE won't sync to Outlook 2003 since receiving new laptop

My previous laptop died so my IT dept moved my data to a new laptop.  Our programs and data are stored on separate drives.  The Palm software & data was stored on the program drive, so I lost everything related to my Palm.  I reinstalled Hotsync Manager from the original CD but it won't sync with Outlook.  I have also upgraded to v4.1.4 but that didn't help.  I have also looked for the Outlook Conduits by clicking on the Hotsync > Custom in the Palm Desktop program.  I don't see any Outlook Conduits listed.  When I run the Hotsync Manager, the Palm Desktop and PDA will sync but there are appointments that were stored in my Outlook pst file that need to be in sync with the PDA.
New operating system is Win XP Pro
    Post relates to: Tungsten E
    This question was solved.

    Ok.
You did not see the PIM conduit sync in start-programs-palm-PIM conduit sync? It should be there. I provided the path in the previous post.
Regarding your device locking up, have you installed any 3rd party programs. They can cause corruption if not compatible.
Another cause of locking up can be corrupted data.
Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
To install the program, set all conduits to "do nothing" except quick install or install if using Palm desktop 6.2.
After you install the program on the handheld, run the scan and also scan for Blobs in the calendar.
After you clean-up the database on the handheld, set the conduits in hotsync to handheld overwrites desktop and perform a hotsync.
Another cause of problems can be the following:
Are you sync'ing the E to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older Palm device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.
    If this is the case,
    You may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
    XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
    Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.
Show file extensions for XP or Vista
    XP
If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
    Vista
Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
