I didn't say BB10 uses BIS.
I said BBM still uses BIS.
Your mobile provider must still now it is a BlackBerry being activated on the network. You need to call them.
Since you've not listed that in your forum profile here, I don't know who your provider is.
**Let me add, I can stand to be corrected. I have asked a couple of friends on this and they too are still somewhat confused. I am asking around for clarification. But, I know I have been told that while a generic data plan will work, the provider does need to know it is a BlackBerry on the network.

  • Z10 BBM copying messages

    Hi there,
So I'm getting a tad frustrated with this BBM copying issue. As I select the text, choose copy as its the only option, it then reads message copied...my where to?? where is it copied to?? I seem to have no clipboard so where can I find it? It does not give me the option to choose say, sd card or device or other, so I'm lost as to where it went and how to retrieve it!?!?!
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks....

It is copied to the clipboard.
Go anywhere you can enter text (email, sms, bbm, DocsToGo) and touch and hold a second in the area want to insert it, and then from the popup right tool > Paste.

  • BBM Error, messages not sending - please please please help

    Hi
My friend has a Q10 and I recently got a Z30. Initially there were no problems in using BBM, but lately my friend has been unable to send BBM messages to me - we're tried deleting each other's contacts and re-adding them, but it's resulted in her being able to see my messages but not able to reply them (they have a red cross).
However, she is able to reply and chat with other friends over BBM as normal.
    Could anybody please advise?
    Thanks!

    Hello justjames194
    Welcome to the Community
Please restart the phone by removing and placing the battery back while the device is ON. This process fixes the application modules in it without losing any data stored. Let us know if you still experience the issue after this.

  • Error message and bbm failure.

Blackberry Curve 8520, OS5, carrier Orange.
    Three problems:
    1.  When I turn on the phone I get an error message: "You are attemptin g to open a secure connection but the senders certificate is not trusted" Options are "Continue", "Close connection", View certificate" and Trust certificate".  I have tried all of these, and the window then immediately opens again, and keeps doing the same thing up to about 15 times.  It then has a breather before starting the same thing all over again.
    2.  On the front screen, at the top, between the volume sign and the time, is an icon which appeared a couple of weeks ago.  It is a small orange disk, with a 1 on the left side of it.  I have been unable to identify what it is or whereit came from, and cannot get rid of it.  Dont know if this is connected to the above.
    3. Contacted Orange who forwarded an email instructing me how to back-up onto my PC, Wipe the phone, and then restore.  I lost three apps:  Viber, Blackberry Messenger, and Whatsapp.  Whatsapp and Viber are now both re-installed but problems with BBM.  Installed it, but no Icon showing, and despite help from Orange have been unable to get it up.  Orange recommendation: uninstall and then re-install and it should be okay.  Unable to uninstall via phone, so connected to Blackberry Manager on Computer and uninstalled that way.  Then attempted to re-install via phone, but BBM is shown  under Blackberry World Apps as "Installed"  But it is not.
Finally, if I look in "Downloads"  I see MySpace..  Not downloaded by me, and I have no idea where that came from either.

    1.  Not sure.  Make sure you have mobile network enabled and a strong signal, then remove.the battery while the power is on, wait 30 seconds, then put the battery back in and test.  If that doesn't fix it, resend service books and test.   (I assume you have a BlackBerry data plan.)
    2.  Don't know for sure, but it is an alert of some sort. Maybe an app, maybe browser push, could be any number.of things.   Post a screen shot and see od someone recognizes it.   Other wise check apps, inbox, etc until you find detailed it.
3.Use the Desktop Software and add/remove programs and install BBM again that way.   It may have been hidden before,  in a folder, or hidden in a folder.    Find it and lauch it.   Follow any instructions to update BlackBerry ID or BBM.
    4. Carriers bundle download links with the device software.   That is probably what you see, and I doubt that is the only one there.  Just hide it and forget about it.  If you delete it then it will just get pushed to you again.

  • Error message when installing new OS 10.3.1

    hi
I have tried to install the new OS update on my z10 and I get a error message at 15% of the installation process through blackberry link. I have tried to reistall several time and I get the same error every time..I have also tried to install it through a WIFI connection. through the Wifi connection it goes through the installation process without a error but when it restarts it still hasnt installed the new OS update, it still has the old version installed.

OK, so it sounds like you have only tried the OTA method so far. As such, please now try the LINK method. If that fails, then try an AutoLoader. Be sure you have a good backup before you start, as well as full manual documentation of everything (just in case you can't restore from the backup).
Good luck and let us know!

Stuffit is the only app I know of which can decompress its own format. Your Windows clients must use the free Expander to open them. Otherwise, use OS X's built in zip compression and they'll be able to open the files without the need of third party software. Right click on any item, or group of items and choose, "Compress xxx Items" (how it will read if more than one item is chosen).

  • Error message when trying to update my world or anyof my applications

I receive an error message when trying to update any of my applications.  Example  facebook, my world..etc...
    Error 40820 try later

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
While normally it is much more accurate to search with the accurate and complete error message, including all punctuation and error codes, in your case here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB28188"BlackBerry App World is having trouble connecting to the BlackBerry App World server. Verify your network connections and try again. (Error id: 40820) " error is displayed when opening App World on the BlackBerry smartphone
Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.
Good luck and let us know!

I downloaded the free Sudoku game from the Blackberry Owners' Lounge (at http://na.blackberry.com/eng/ownerslounge/downloads/games.jsp) to my PC and then used the Blackberry Desktop Manager to transfer it to my Blackberry Curve 8300.

Any idea what I've done wrong and/or how to correct the problem?

  • Can't sync 8330 to Outlook 2010. Keep getting error message.

I just got outlook 2010 and am trying to set up my 8330 to sync with it. I cannot sync the address book and the calendar because I keep getting  an intellisync error message that says "One or more configured folders is not available. Update folder mapping and try again." When I click on Configure settings>advanced> with the check box in Calender clicked I get a message that says "No available message stores." I click OK and then the advanced settings pop up. When I click on Map Field I get an error message. "Error encountered. Error code - 0x82bc1095. Check documentation."
I have been trying for several hours to figure this out. The only way I can get it to sync is when I change the MultiJobTraceLog value to 200 and the TifLog Value to 100 in the iloptcfg file as instructed in one of the RIM help documents. And even then it only works the first time I sync after starting BB desktop software 6.0 and plugging in my phone.
    Help!!

    Hi there!
Let's start with your Outlook 2010 version...if 64bit, then this KB will apply:
    KB17149Support for Microsoft Outlook 2010 64-bit version
    Otherwise, this KB might apply:
KB15564"No available message stores" appears when configuring synchronization settings in BlackBerry Desktop Manager

  • No organizer sync after DM 6 update (no error message)

    Hi there,
After updating to DM 6 and, at the same time, updating the device software to v5.0.0.1036, I am not able to perform or configure organizer synchronisation any longer. When pressing the "Sync" button, it just says "Select your organizer data". When I try to configure the settings for the sync, a pop up window shows up saying "Operation is in progress, please wait" but it closes within a second or two with no error message - nothing happens.
I am not going to go into how annoying this is and that RIM obviously released a sub-optimal update. Others did that already sufficiently. Let's just try to solve it.
I checked the file "desktop.log" and you can find an error message there that might be the key to a solution.
    11:53:58.375|ERROR|1|Rim.Desktop.DesktopChannelWrapper|0|Error retrieving sync config file
System.ArgumentException: The URL cannot be empty.

       at System.Xml.XmlTextReader..ctor(String url, XmlNameTable nt)
       at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(String filename)
I did not find anything helpful on the net on that error message so hopefully someone here in the Forum can help me.
Thanks for any support in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
You might try advanced logging to see if anything more helpful shows up:
KB01451How to turn on advanced synchronization logging if a wired synchronization fails
This next suggestion is much more tedious, but it's a complete clean startover with the Desktop Software...if you wish to follow it, then I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB...be sure to search your registry for any related to RIM
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
Still others have reported the use of your original PIM (e.g., Outlook, NOTES, etc.) installation CD, running the "repair" process, to be helpful in some situations
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!
