BB Z10 Died

Registered an account to report that my Z10 died on me. Received on 7th March 2013 from Telco@ 8.30pm. Died on 11th March 2013 @ 4pm. Blue / Purple screen of death. Couldn't power up after. Now all I see is a periodic sequence of red led flashing.
Nice gadget, for 4 days of light usage. There goes my screen protector.

Hey gatelesis,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
Follow the steps below to try and bring the BlackBerry Z10 back to life:
Ensure that BlackBerry Link is installed on the PC or Mac OS
Ensure the computer has an internet connection.
Launch the BlackBerry Link Software.
Note: A backup of the BlackBerry device should be tried before a reload.
Turn off the BlackBerry device. Make sure there are no flashing LEDs and that the LCD is not still being lit by the backlight. If there are any flashing LEDs, hold the power button for 15 seconds until the LEDs stop.
Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer.
When prompted with Cannot communicate with device, click Restore and then click yes allow the update to be downloaded and installed on the BlackBerry device.
If the restore button is not seen press the vertical dots in the lower right corner of BlackBerry Link and select disconnected device.  Highlight the disconnected device you are working with and attempt steps 4 to 6 again.
If the issue still persists, then I suggest contacting your network service provider for repair options.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

  • Z10 died after installing 10.2.1.537

I downloaded and installed 10.2.1.537 using BB Link and 1st I had battery life issues which got solved after 1 day, but the 3rd day after installing the new update my phone died, and now it just doesn't turn on. If I connect it to the wall charger or PC, the Blackberry Logo comes on and then it turns off again (red led on), then it goes "on" again showing the BlackBerry logo and it does that in an infinite loop. If I try to turn it on unplugged, it just doesn't respond.
I didn't download any beta software, nor the incorrect version since BB Link told me there was an update.
My phone operator is Entel and I'm currently in Chile, the phone I'm using is a Z10 STL-1.
Please help me, I've been checking other forums and even though the situation does not seem to be widespread, there are several other users who have the same problem with no apparent solution.

  • Z10 software update. Phone not loading.

Has anyone else had this issue? I have a z10, the night I took an update (Fido), is the very same night my son's Z10 died (Koodo).  It will not load and just shuts down after BB screen. My sons phone is about 12 months old.  It seems like these phones are now disposable, I am worried because mine is coming up to the 12 month anniversary.
Any feedback? Many thanks in advance.

  • Blackberry Z10 does not want to come on!!

My BlackBerry Z10 died and I didn't have the chance to charge is so I left my phone in my bag until I got home from my trip. When charging the phone it started up as normal until the part where it loads, normally when touching the screen it tells you what % it is at but it just kept thinking!! I left my phone like that and still it's doing the same thing. I've taken the battery out for a whole day, still no help!!
What do I do?? Is it the phone inside?? I did not drop the phone, been in my bag like it's always been, hard cover to protect it. I really need help, please!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If that fails, please redo it all, but increase the wait time in step 4 to 2 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Won't boot only red light flashing

My BB Z10 unable to boot or charge once the battery all used up.
When I plug to wall or PC, only red light flashing.
Sent for repair twice, just return with a full charged battery device.
Once I used all the battery it won't charge.
I have to recharge the battery before it's all gone,
Or you have to follow the steps to reinstall the OS make it charge again.
Does it make sense? Will you accept that?
Means if I did not charge my Z10 before battery all gone, I have to do the OS recovery and ALL THE DATA GONE.

  • Blackberry Z10 has just died!

My Z10 phone just decided to die yesterday. I can't get it to switch on. The screen is completely blank. The only sign of life is that the red light comes on for a short period of time after I connect to my PC.
However, my PC does not pick up the phone - it's as if it is just not there. I desperately need access as my calendar is on this phone. Can anyone help, please?

It has for others I've helped... not all but many.
So, rather than a battery pull, the next time hold down the up and down volume key about 30 seconds. What happens?
Next time press the upper edge power button for 20-30 seconds... anything?
And next, press ALL three: Volume up and down, and the top edge power key about 20-30 seconds.. anything?
On each of these, do it while connected to the OEM wall outlet charger.

  • Z10 Battery died and now it wont turn back on after charging for 3 -5 hours

My phone completely died and i didnt charge it for about a day. I went to charge it the following day and it wont hold a charge. I plug the charger in and the red light on the top right of the phone turns on and then blackberry appears on the screen shortly after and then it just turns off.
I plugged it into my computer and it wont even recognize my device.
I also had it plugged in for a few hours and then pulled the battery out and for a few seconds and reinserted it and nothing.

  • Z10 has completely died and won't restart using either of 2 batteries

I turned my z10 off and tried to restart it. It hasn't restarted in a week. i have 2 batteries. Neither is effective.  At best i get a red light when i plug it in that disappears after a few seconds and then its again completely unresponsive.  I've pulled the batteries out for extended periods of time and I've pulled the sim card. I've left it on charger for hours.  No response.
any thoughts to how I can at least get it restarted to rescue what I have on it besides my last back up with BB Link.

I am not sure you can get the data on the device back.  Take a look at the solution provided here:

  • Z10 & Basic battery dying after latest update

I would like to know what Blackberry is doing about this problem. I  have read  it is caused by the android  file in the file manager. I have tried deleting this file, and its contents, but am unable. When is this another update going to be released to fix this problem, I have had to recharge my phone every 8 hours, and I am not happy.

Android App Player shows 0.7% over 48 Hours on my phone.
The app is part of the OS and cannot be deleted.
What OS are you running ?.

  • My Z10 has died

The phone is not functioning, tried a new battery and nothing. All I get is a quick flash of red LED when unplugged and a solid red LED for 20 sec if plugged in to power. I do not get past that, so just a blank Black screen.
Can't even plug into computer and try to update
As a side note it had powered down early in the month when battery just below 50%, figured my battery on on its way out. But the replacement (yes a OEM BlackBerry LS1) hasnt help. I also only use the BB cables & plug, trying different ones (bought extra & one from PlayBook).
I don't recall which OS I was running, but it was up-to-date.  I have been informed by Telus that my phone is out of warranty as of this past May.....

I have tried to hard reboot (holding power or both volume buttons) with no results.  Pull battery, plugged in and re-insert battery while still plugged in.  Let charge over night & that didn't work either.  I'm at a lost, any suggestions?
