BB Z10 Virtual Keypad Issues

On the virtual keyboard, BB Z10 clears the entire sentence already typed when the backspace virtual key button is pressed even with the slightest touch. I also have issues with all the virtual key buttons on either side, namely "Q", "A", "uppercase button" on the left side and "P", "L" and "backspace button" on the right side. Its frustrating after typing for so long for you to lose all your text just because you wanted to clear a letter. The other buttons mentioned behave differently though, like giving you caps and foreign alphabets when all you want is just the "small letter".

Hmm... two things first.
Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
If that doesn't help, reload the OS. I can help with that if you want to do this.
If neither of those help you, I'd say it's a hardware issue.

The virtual keypad on my BBZ10 keeps freezing up especially when inputting typeset like :10th. I have to keep shutting off my device. Sometimes it takes several times to work.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Yep, as it says. The new virtual keypad in PR1.2 isn't a permanent fixture.
I downloaded the "D-Theme SimpleWaemo" from the Extras repo last night and I've now got the pre PR1.2 on-screen keypad back. Nice theme too.

When you go to your main App manager screen (the one with the 3 large icons), tap the top title bar then tap Application Catalogues. After a short while you will be presented with a list. These are the repositories, or as Nokia calls them "Catalogues".
If you go to an application's home page on your phone i.e: Rightware Kanzi UI and attempt to download the demo, the phone will tell you it needs to add that site to the "Catalogues" list or repositories before it downloads the demo. If you select "Yes", then the next time you view your Repositories/Catalogues list you will see "Rightware" has been added to the list
Okay -- I get the first paragraph -- did just the same and came up with these 4 options

Tapping on any of these only takes me to the settings..
I copied the url that was on "Nokia Applications" and tried to get on to the website (isn't that what I am supposed to do?) -- it came up with some certificate errors, and finally said.. Access Denied..
bottom line -- I still dont know if I am doing right, and I dont have the "extras repo"

I have removed the ecp site from default site and attempting to rerun SP1 now. I do not have high hopes. :(

From the error description, you need to manually remove the ECP with IIS manager in both the Default Web Site and the Exchange Back End firstly. And then continue the upgrade to check the result.

8700g Strange Keypad Issue: Letters typed do not appear on screen

I support two 8700g users. I too am an 8700g user and have not experienced this problem: randomly and intermittently, the users report when they are typing messages on the keypad, strange combinations of letters appear instead. There is no apparent pattern to which keys are pressed, what order they are pressed in, or what appears on the screen; this, too, is random. This aggravating problem appears and disappears at will whether or not the battery is removed or not. Of the two units, one is brand new as of January 2008 while the other has had some exposure to water and has been wiped twice, once for this weird keypad issue. The language selected is English and the auto-text is off on both units. The units otherwise work according to specification. We are on a BES using MS Exchange. I have read on other boards sometimes there are identifiable patterns in what is keyed and what appears, but I have not been able to establish such patterns with these users. Can anyone offer a diagnosis and a permanent solution? Thank you.

Thank you, Bifocals, for your reply! Memory is an issue, but more importantly a recognizable pattern DID emerge so I could identify and resolve the issue: when the user typed "a" they got "on on" and when they typed "no" they got "pt no pot" - which I learned is caused by the input language accidentally being changed to Catala. I learned via this and in other BB forums the input language can be easily changed when the ALT and CAP keys are pressed simultaneously, the old way of locking the keyboard on the BB 7250.

I don't want the keyboard to become bigger. Wish there was a way to always have the iPhone sized keypad available for use with any app. When typing with fingers or stylus, the distance between keystrokes is SO much shorter and efficent on the iPhone keypad vs the "full size" iPad keyboard.
I've heard that there will be some keyboard options when the new IOS comes out...wish this was one of them.
Haven't looked yet, but is there a place you can recommend things such as this to Apple?

Keypad issue when typing

Hi.
I'm having keypad issues with my Blackberry Curve 3G. It has been fine all day but since about 5pm, when I press the green 'call' button, it has been bringing up the letters 'jk'. It also does the same thing when I type 'f', 'j', 'k' and use the caps button. Last time a software update fixed this, however I am now using the latest OS.
My daughter got hold of it earlier and had one corner of it in her mouth. Could this be the issue? Will it rectify itself once dried out?

Producing Virtual Keypad on Custom Items

Hi Everyone,
I have developed a midlet with some custom items. When midlet starts it shows the login screen with the custom designed USERNAME and PASSWORD fields. When user enters letters/numbers through the keypad on the device, they get displayed in the selected custom item. I have managed to give the same effect as like of actual standard TextField.
But it requires keypad on the device. It wont work on the full touch screen phones, as there is no way to enter letters/numbers on the full touch screen devices.
On full touch screen, if I touch on the standard TextField [not custom designed], application produces virtual keypad on the screen. In the same way, What should I do so that application can produce the virtual keypad when user touches the custom item?

The link you have provided is my own thread which I have posted in BlackBerry Forum. But if you see the reply in it, it suggests me to use RIM class.
Is there any class in J2ME MIDP API [lcdui] which can be used to open a virtual keypad so that I will not need to use device specific virtual keypad? If there is any such class, my application will run on any device. But if I use the BlackBerry dependent class i.e. RIM class, I'll loose platform independence.
If there is any such class in lcdui, how can I attach it to my Custom TextFields?

But he said "U contact HP sevice centre we have no idea about this" What shal i do further?? Suggestions required

I don't think it will b exploded in Consignment Issue as it has already exploded in Consignment fill up. Consignment issue means what selling the stock which is at consignee's place so it dose not have to b exploded. u carr on like that and see what is the flow if it is ok then go on otherwise u let me know the problem.

E66: "press unlock to activate keypad" issue

hi,
i've been using the phone for a few months now and i noticed recently that sometimes,when i lock the keypad, i get the "press unlock to activate keypad" message, on and on, without me touching any buttons at all. It just keeps appearing very rapidly.the backlight goes off but the screensaver won't start because of this message that keeps appearing as if i was pressing one of the buttons continuously.
whether i use the slide or the keys to lock the phone, it happens anyway.
if i unlock the keypad everything works well, no problems at all.
it doesn't happen all the time, but is really annoying when it does.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Keypad issues since update...

Ever since the update I am having issues with my Droid X keypad. Whenever I try to type the keypad will disappear or it won't type the correct letters and it becomes quite a mess. I thought maybe it was my texing app but it appears to be happening in any app I try to type in. I took it to the Verizon store and the guy switched it into the swype mode and it seems to work like that, but I don't like swyping and I don't like pecking in the swype mode. He said it was an issue with the new software but had a replacement phone sent to me anyway. Still the same problem with the replacement phone. Anyone else expereiencing the same issue and possibly know of a fix?

Sometimes clearing the learned words from the Settings / Lauguage and Keyboard / Multi-Touch Keyboard / Clear Learned Words helps....

Z10 Orientation Sensor Issues

Hey everyone,
I recently traded my Q10 for Z10 on Kijiji (Terrible idea, right?). Anyways, the phone works great other than it refuses to go into landscape mode. I also cannot use the compass app (not that I really use it anyway). I have tried a security wipe, and battery pull, reset with the volume buttons, etc. and seem to be running out of options.
I also spoke with Rogers and Blackberry support today - and they said it may be a hardware issue - however, since i'm not the original "purchaser" they cannot replace or fix the device under warranty until the original owner is found.
This is obviously turining into an extremely upsetting and difficult situation, since I really do love my Blackberry products!
Do any of you have any tips or any other suggestions on getting the sensor to work?

At an internet distance, I cannot diagnose a hardware problem. All I can do is convince you to do various things which could DEDUCE a likely hardware problem, but true diagnosis requires in-hand support. If you wish to jump past all of the things I could advise that you can try to make that deduction more solid, then you simply seek out a local (to you) shop with a qualified BB hardware technician, and have them give you a proper diagnosis and estimate.
On the other hand, if you wish to try some things first on your own (note please that I have no way to know what exactly you have tried...all you said was "nothing has worked", so I've no way to know what you actually tried), then the logical progression (based on failure of each attempt) would be a device WIPE, then an OS reload, then a more stringent process of WIPE/Reload, including perhaps the use of an Autoloader. Again, since I don't know what you tried to reach the "nothing has worked" result, I may perhaps be recommending completely redundant things here...I just have no way to know.

Alfa numerical keypad issue after fp2 update: spe...

in fp2 update in alfa numerical keypad predictive text tab has been given at the top of keypad. But nokia has forgot to develop that text box where we need to type has to shift by that much height accordingly. So as a result of that we need to type blindly. Please give your feedback on this so nokia has to fix it immediately. Also lef.and right arrow has been made temporary after ye tap at text box. But it's not working properly. And also not working in all application.these are the biggest blunder in this software update.nokia fix it.immediately.

Nokia have pulled the FP2 update due to numerous bug reports and complaints, so are aware of certain issues and a fix should be provided in the future.

Virtual Machine Issue

Good Morning all,
I am currently in the middle of setting up my personal home domain.
I currently have the following setup:
- Server running 2012 R2 and this is my Domain Controller
- My DNS and DHCP is currently on my Sky broadband router (this is just incase my server gets turned off at some point at least other users in my house will get an ip etc.)
- On this server I also have the Hyper-V role installed. (I have a Windows 8.1 virtual machine running on this)
Now my issue.
I am trying to use the Hyper-V virtual machine as my "test pc" so that I can apply group policies etc and just make sure everything is working as should be. For some reason however I cannot join my domain via the Virtual machine.
I have turned the firewalls off both the Server and the Virtual Machine, and both can see each other via ping. If I also go to
\\servername\share I can also see items such as sysvol etc on my Virtual Machine.
when trying to join the virtual machine to the domain I am getting the following error "An Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for the domain "domainname" could not be contacted. Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly. If the
name is correct, click details for troubleshooting information"
I am not really sure where to go from here. I have also manually set the DNS address so that is picks up from the Sky Router.
Any ideas please.

The internet on the virtual machine works fine.

The major error is in misplacing your DNS. Active Directory should have its own DNS
(usually sitting on the DC). The reason is simple. In DNS there are
domain resource records that provide client information about Active Directory objects (to say it simply).
I do recommend to read something about Active Directory infrastructure. Technet and some books may bring you to correct configuration quickly. Also there are various labs and webcast that bring live learning possibilities.
