Bb10 is the most disappointing phone ever

I am a hard core BlackBerry believer only to be totally let down by bb10. The navigation is terrible, response time to turning the phone is brutal, apps are substandard! As a business user I have been waiting for this phone only to find out it is time to switch brands. As a Canadian this is so disappointing...time to support apple or samsung...This realization sucks big time!

Keyboard is the best on the market-dont get me wrong, I'll still be getting the Q10 though

I have to agree with the OP. The phone DOES have disappointments as mentioned in a few posts including my own. Going back and forth to the HUB is a pain (a message icon could improve that). Staying on the last page you visited (last email message or last text) and not just defaulting to the home screen is problematic. You have to swipe and swipe again to get where you want or need to be.
The alarm clock not working when the phone is off is a pain too. WTF is that about? You have to leave the phone on, reset the sounds to silent so you're not woken up by beeps whenever an email comes in and even the bedside mode doesn't shut down the sounds. I'd think that if I put the phone in bedside the sounds would automatically go to PHONE ONLY mode.
Have double notifications in Facebook and on the HUB is problematic. Why? Simple, why? One message in the app is enough. Why do I have to go to the HUB for that? There's absolutely no reason for this.
No banking apps. I can't scan a check??? Every phone on the planet has a banking app. Get with the program aready! Blackberry developers worked with Facebook and Twitter but forgot Bank of America, Wells Fargo etc etc. I could care less about social apps.
Speaking of apps. Why weren't the old standards included? Password Keeper and the QR scanner were missing and I had to go searching for them and learn how to get my passwords back onto this new device.
My contacts are all doubled and tripled because of the apps. I have one person in four times!! On my Torch they were there once. That's all I need. I could care less about their Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin profiles being on my phone.
The device itself works. It makes and receives calls. It gets my emails for me but that's what BB did back when they first came out in 1999. Nothing really improved in terms of going against the competition and coming out late in the game played against them IMHO.

I want to get rid of xmarks sync. It is the most obnoxious, intrusive add-on ever and crashes my internet connection several times a day. I have followed the instructions on your helpdesk, but nothing works. It never fully loaded and refuses to give up. I want it out of my life forever.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:

Can UC560 support the most current SCCP phone loads?

I have a UC560 that I recently upgraded to Software Pack 8.6(2).
The default phone loads from this software pack, are different than what's currently available to download from CCO, for certain phone models.
For example, the Cisco SPA508G firmware load that comes with SW Pack 8.6(2) is 7.5.2c. However, the most current firmware load available from CCO is 7.5.5 (released 6/14/2013).
Can I upload the latest phone load zip file from CCO, to the UC560? Or is UC560 only supported with the firmware loads that come with the software pack?

You can run the new phone loads with the current software pack. Generally, I would only advise doing that if you are running into a specific issue/new feature that requires an upgrade first.

The most ridiculous design flaw ever?

I'd like to charge my iPod using my PC at work, except I can't, because it doesn't have iTunes installed.
So why does my iPod stay stuck on the 'Connected' screen? Why is it so ridiculously stupid that it cannot work out my PC doesn't have iTunes and just try and use the power from the USB port as opposed to data and USB.
About very single USB device ever will charge up regardless of whether or not the PC can talk directly to it, so why is the iPod any different?

iTunes isn't needed.
Simply eject the iPod by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”.
Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
Leave the cable connected, and after a few seconds turn the iPod off.
Now it will charge.

How do you restore IPhone to a backup other than the most recent. Phone crashed, restore didn't work.

My iPhone 4 crashed and I did a restore, but instead it set it up as a new install. So when I went to do a restore, I still lost all my contacts and apps. Need help restoring using a precious backup.

control + click(mac) or right click(windows) on the name of your iPhone on iTunes then select restore from back up
_if you have multiple back up, it will give you option which back up to restore

I have the most horrible muse bug ever with slide shows mixing images up

Hi there. I'm making a comic. I uploaded multiple episodes of the comic - each to it's own slideshow in adobe muse. However the pages in the various slideshows are mixing up with my other slideshows. At first I thought it was just a caching problem in preview mode of muse because after uploading all looked okay and my on-line website looked perfect. However suddenly today several of the comics have the wrong images in them. I did nothing in the assets window. It was all working (at least on line where it counts) until now. this is a disaster. My poor website.
I uploaded it to my own website but if anyone wants to see I can also upload to BC.
this problem appeared again (but on upload as well today) after I switched off the thumbnails. maybe that is a clue as it was working until then (at least online).
Please help me - I am desperate. And no, I do not wish to rename all the pages in my comic from page 1.jpg to page 1_comic4.jpg etc to give each image (page of my comic) a unique name. I would have thought I could have same name assets that are different images. To rename all my images and put them back into muse would be so much work it would probably be easier for me just to go back to iweb and wait for easyweb to come out.

I have batch renamed all my assets, deleted all my slideshow thumb nails and replaced them so none of the images in my slide show have the same name as other assets anymore. I am sure this is what caused the problem. I am about to reupload my website, so you won't be able to see the problem anymore (I sincerely hope).
The problem wasn't always reproducible. To be able to reproduce the bug you need 10 different slideshows (all with images called page_1.jpg, page_2.jpg etc with more than 50 pages in some of the galleries, and then you have to upload the slideshows, make changes to the website,upload again, then make more changes to the website, then go to all the galleries one at a time with the thumbnails visable then uncheck the show thumbnails box for all the different slideshows and upload again.

Oracle's web site is one of the most frustrating I have ever used

There are two major issues with oracles main web site: lack of consistency and lack of information.
I would challenge anyone to draw any sort of coherent information architecture map of the oracle property. It would be a dogs breakfast because there is no consistency in how the site is laid out. Consequently a new user has no idea where to go to get the information you want. Sometimes you are directed to downloads from landing pages and other times its more product information. But it's rarely what you expect.
Secondly, take for example the download a the BPEL Process Manager for JBoss. I can't even find that page now where I downloaded it from... But, nowhere in the download page, and nowhere in the 100+MB download is there any explanation of what JBoss versions are supported. Just unbelievable.
If I did not have to use the web site, I would never go near it!

Actually, I find there is an amazing amount of consistency. I believe that Oracle's technology web face is organized as a set of portals. Let me walk you through an example:
Start at Oracle's main tech page, Oracle Technet at http://otn.oracle.com . That page, and virtually all those below, are organized as follows:
Top banner - log in, search (not particularily good),
Top shortcuts - quick links to First glance, Download, Documentation, Forums, Samples and Tutorial portals
Left nav bar - Product, Technology (overlapping product or OSS), Architecture, Community portals by category
Right Nav bar - Portal specific navigation to docs, demos, downloads, tutorials, etc.
Center - the actual content of this portal
So, if I'm looking for BPM for JBoss, knowing that's a middeware product, I'd go to the Left Nav bar, Products: Middleware to get to the Middleware portal.

On that download page, I note, close to the bottom is an older download of BPM for JBoss, and it specifies "Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.2.0.2 for JBOSS (v3.2.6) ". That is the older one, so I assume the newer download is either for that version or a newer version.
Aside from that, some of Oracle's better kept secrets are their Certification Matrices. What's the most RELIABLE MacBook Pro ever?

Hi, my MacBook Early 2008 died last week.
The displays were flickering. I had connected an external Monitor "NEC PA 241 W".
At restart it got frozen during booting. Till switching-on the keyboad backlight it works fine, but then nothing.
The service told the logic board is brocken. It was already replaced due to the known graphic card issue. The new replacement cost should be born by me.
So I was looking for an other used MacBook. I nearly bought an late 2008 MacBook Pro.
But here is also a problem with flickering displays (see this threat over 84 pages https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1807105?start=1245&tstart=0 ).
Now I nearly lost my confidence in the Apple engineers. Is it only good design and marketing?
Who do have the overview and could recommend a rearly RELIABLE MacBook Version ( to be used with a second monitor attached).

Using Mac's for 24 years, I can say the quality has dropped a bit since the Intel switch.
In fact now with my new $4000 17" MacBook Pro I don't use the keyboard, trackpad at all, hardly use the Sueprdrive and keep the flat surface covered by the packaging.
People think I'm crazy until I show them a 2007 machine, only 4 years old.
The keys are a bit weak (but I hit them rather hard so) and the Superdrive had to be replaced, the trackpad button got all scratched form just thumb use (how I don't have a clue)
So my $900 value machine is too ugly to sell at a good price, so it's used for experimental purposes.
I was hoping when I bought it I would get a lot more life out of it than 4 years. It's still a powerful machine, just ugly now.
Perhaps I could send it in and get the keyboard replaced and the whole case colorized.

Premiere has the most enoying error ever in history

Hello people, I'm working at a project that involves a lot of Premiere and after I've progressed with it, it gives me the most killer error ever. How can I solve this? I can't recover my work, so everytime I have to start over from some point it auto-saved. Please help me with this!

So... this isn't actually any help, but I would have to say the most annoying error message ever is FCP's "General Error". Which would then be followed by your system crashing. Has to set a record for least informative error ever, and it used to come up fairly often.
I'd follow Steven's advice, and import either you project or sequence into a new project.

Is this the most expensive "Mickey Mouse" phone ever?

I have recently got my iPhone 3GS and it’s and impressive device. The market leading MP3 player and the best mobile browsing device ever - with an innovative and intuitive user interface that is way ahead of its competitors.
As a PDA its OK – but lacks the functionality and integration of Windows mobile devices. Doubtless the apps will come to resolve that and at the moment – there are work arounds.
As a phone though – the last phone I had so basic and functionless was 9 years ago. Apple’s heritage shows in this device – reliable quality computing and audio. A lack of phone experience.

There are no profiles and no way to create profiles. When I go into a meeting I don’t want to have to take my phone from its case and hit the silent button and put it back – and I don’t want to do the reverse when the meeting’s over. The same when I get in and out of the car – I want Bluetooth switched on and voice dialling on one profile.
There is no means to create a shortcut. So to get in the car I have to go to settings, general, Bluetooth and switch it on – the same when I get out.
There are no user groups in the address book –which can share a ringtone for example.
There is no way of filtering calls e.g. when in a meeting – only accept calls from users in the VIP group, or from 'Tom' etc.
I’d like Apple to resolve these issues in a future OS update. What else should they address?

Your post just strengthens the idea that everyone uses their phone differently.
I have a belt case for my phone, and the silent switch and power button are accessible without taking the phone out. So when in a meeting, I can quite my phone without having to remove it from the case.
Other then a shortcut for BT or Wifi, the rest of your needs don't coincide with mine or anyone I know.
Something I would like to see is scheduling of email/sync - Turn it off from 11pm to 6am. Same for Fetch email.
I do agree things are missing, but my needs are different then yours.

Thanks for the question. The following article provides some solutions if you are having issues with passcode lock:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode

If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
5. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

LG Extravert possibly the worst phone ever!

"Upgraded" to this phone and I have to say it was the worst mistake I have ever made as far as phones go. 1. The screenlock button is at the top right side, so whenever you grab the phone normally and try to do anything with it, adjust volume, whatever, the screenlock button is inadvertently touched more often than not and locks the screen up. Horrible placement for that button. 2. The speakerphone is the worst sounding piece of junk ever! I can get better sound out of a garage sale walkie-talkie! 3. If I want to listen to my voicemails, check a bank account balance, etc., and I dial from the closed position, as soon as the call connects, the screen goes dark and I can't put in passwords, account numbers, menu options and the like from the touchscreen. I have to open the phone and do everything from the Qwerty...AND turn off the speaker phone(which is activated when I slide the phone open) to keep my account info and voicemails from being soundblasted all over creation. 4. But, by far, the most irritating thing about this piece of junk is the horrible problem with texting. After having the phone for about two weeks, I noticed I could not delete certain texts. No matter how I tried to do it, texts would not delete! I took it in to Verizon and they rebooted it several times and every time the texts were still there! Since there wasn't anything horribly important contained in those texts, I took the chance at exchanging it anyway, knowing personal info was still on the phone. I took the new one home, and two weeks later, SAME thing started happening, only worse!. Not only could I not delete loads of texts(a few I could), I but texts that I hadn't even read yet were disappearing. I get the alert that a text had come in, I open the screen to read the text from "John Doe", and the text disappeared! I later found it in the folder of "Jan Smith". A response to a text from my son, he never got, but it shows up in the sent folder to an entirely different person. I sent an "I Love You!" to my wife. Doesn't show up there...it shows up as a sent text to a guy friend of mine. This is so ridiculous I don't think I will give this back to Verizon. I would like a credit on my account for the $45 in upgrade fees and taxes, and I want to keep the phone. I will take it home, throw it down in the driveway and enjoy beating the snot out of it with a sledgehammer!

The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.
