BB10 Remote Email search

I got the new Q10, I am still looking for the old way to remote email search (which was under "Advanced search").
This option was a valuable part of the BlackBerry experience in order to be able to always be able to access any emails.
Also, as part of the email experience, is it possible to keep an email for more than 30 days? I have used the blackberry link in order to migrate my old emails to this new device, but old my saved emails are not showing up..
Thank you in advance for the support.
I was a BlackBerry user since the 8330.

Hey jumassillia,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
Email search is available in the BlackBerry Hub, click on the magnify glass and click on the 3 dots for more options within the search.
My apologies, currently there is no setting in BlackBerry 10 to keep messages longer than 30 days.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

  • Email search no longer works

With the latest change of the email layout, besides being more cumbersome to use, searching doesn't work anymore. It does not retrieve all the instances of the search term. I tried the from name and the actual from email address and only 1 instance was returned, when there were several of them in my inbox. I need to do this to clear out my email, as I do not use verizon email to read my emai, it is just too annoying. But I need to clear it out periodically as I don't have my email pgm delete them), and now that will take much more manual effort.
Plus it is ridiculous to put web search and email search together, it's too easy to click the web button instead of the mail button

Never mind - I figured it out. I still think the web button should be removed though.

  • Email search problems

The email Search function isn't working. Usually I type in a search word, and I instantly get results.  Now it seems jammed. What to do?

this may sounnd obvious, but make sure when you do the search  you have 'inbox' selected and not an individual email open.
You can try closing the mail app in the task bar and then re-open it.
double tap the home button, press and hold the mail app and tap the red x
tap home button again to return to the home screen and open mail app again

  • How do you filter an email search (ie: Subject or From) in iOS 7?

How do you filter an email search (ie: Subject or From) in iOS 7?

    Hello dh1316
The way iOS 7 searches email has changed. I have made an excerpt of the new way search works.
    iPhone User Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Search for a message. Scroll to or tap the top of the messages list to reveal the search field. You can search the current mailbox, or all mailboxes at once. Searching looks at the address fields, the subject, and the message body.
Search by timeframe. Scroll to or tap the top of the messages list to reveal the search field, then type something like “February meeting” to find all messages from February with word “meeting.”
Search by message state. To find all flagged, unread messages from people in your VIP list, type “flag unread vip.” You can also search for other message attributes, such as “attachment.”
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    -Norm G.

  • Getting rid of email searches in finder

I just searched for the term "Letter to JD" in finder... there are 3 files that match this criteria:
    letter to jd
    letter to jd 2
    letter to jd 3
I had to search through about 200 email messages and a bunch of other crap files in order to actually find the three files that have an exact phrase match in the name of the file.
How do I get rid of these email searches, and how do I get finder to respect the fact that I'm often searching for the exact words I expect to appear in the file?

Make sure Mail & Messages is unchecked in the Spotlight preferences:
System Preferences > Spotlight > select the Search Results tab and uncheck Mail & Messages
    Then force Spotlight to reindex:
Open Terminal (in Applications/Utilities) and copy/paste the command below, then hit return.
    sudo mdutil -E /
Enter your password (you will not see it on the screen as you type it) then hit return. After you get the Indexing enabled message, type in exit and hit return. You can then close the window and quit Terminal. Spotlight will start reindexed your drive. This can take quite some time. You can check the progress by clicking the Spotlight icon (magnifying glass) on the right side of the menu bar or hitting Command+Spacebar.

  • Adblock Plus is blocking my email search tool in Yahoo mail

I have not been able to use "search email" for all my emails, just some. I restarted Firefox today, on recommendation. This disabled my Adblock Plus for some reason! Then I was able to do email search for anything I wanted. But I was getting ads in my yahoo, so I installed adblock plus again, which helped that problem, but now I cannot do email search again.
How do I tell adblock plus to stop blocking my email search?

You can ask advice at the Adblock Plus forum if there are problems with this extension or with a filter list:

  • Email Search Blackberry 10

We seem to be having issues searching Email sub-folders on Blackberry 10 devices. The strange thing is the search function was working and now has stopped for 4 of our 94 Blackberry 10 (Q10, Z10 & Z30) device users. In the inbox our Enterprise email users can search without issue but not in the Sub-folders. I have tried wiping the devices, deleting user from the server and making sure that the devices are running the latest BB10 OS still no luck. Anyone else having this issue? Or have any idea how to correct it?
P.S. The folders are synced, but when you search everything disappears.
P.S.S. we are using the BES10 server Version 10.2.3.11

for the email, I always believed that the behavior (override the sender name in received emails) was a bug, so I'm glad it's fixed.
The search box on top-right of this page is your true friend, and the public Knowledge Base too:

  • 2.0 update allowing email search?

I heard that we will be able to search our emails after the 2.0 update, but I don't see that in my emails. Is that just for iphone users. Also, I didn't get the MobileMe app.

    Copied from this link.
    http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2008/03/06iphone.html
+Apple has licensed Exchange ActiveSync from Microsoft and is building it right into the iPhone, so that iPhone will connect out-of-the-box to Microsoft Exchange Servers 2003 and 2007 for secure over-the-air push email, contacts, calendars and global address lists. Built-in Exchange ActiveSync support also enables security features such as remote wipe, password policies and auto-discovery.+
Does your company run Exchange Servers 2003 or 2007?
If so, it may not be as easy as entering the required settings to access your Exchange account - depending on your company.

  • How do I make email searches display in chronological order?

There must be something obvious I am missing here, I am hoping someone can tell me what I may be doing wrong.
I have several packages that just shipped via UPS over the past week. I get quite a few UPS packages and the tracking alerts are over several email accounts.
I go to my email to search for UPS so I can get all the tracking numbers, but as I've noticed since iOS7 was installed, my search results come back completely in a random looking order.  There is no coherence to the dates.  The first one is from March, then they jump back to 2011, then one of my recent ones is shown as Wednesday, then back to 2012, etc.  There are hundreds.  Even when I specify an email box instead of searching all email the same thing happens - all seemingly in random order.
Why can't I just see them in chronological order as I used to? Do I need to specify something different in search, or change some setting?
Thanks for  any help! This has been annoying for awhile but today it's gone from annoying to really bothersome because this is such a basic function and I just had to spend ten minutes going through my email manually since at least it's chronological - I would have been there all day using the search function.  I know I must be missing something.

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • Remote email access on mac mini server

I hope someone on here can provide a solution to our problem.
Over theweekend we changed our server from an old Microsoft (circa 2003) one running Exchange 2003 to an Apple mac mini server running Lion OSX Server.
Despite some inevitable issues we are now live. It is a small office with about 6 users. Theserver is mostly used to control access, act as a file server and an email /contacts / calendar server.
We have converted from MS products to Apple mail, ical, address book.
Users need to access mail on their iphones when out and about and also using laptops when out / at home.
    There’s the background – here’s the problem.
Our domain,ourcompany.co.uk, is with 1&1. The website is hosted by 1&1.
The MX records have been updated to deliver all mail to a spam filtering service. This spam filtering service then delivers the mail, using SMTP, to our external IP address 81.137.xxx.yyy
We have set up our mac mini server with a host name of : macserver.ourcompany.co.uk (choosingthe “Host name for internet” option of the 3 available during initial setup).
We can access mail fine – but only when in the office and logged on to the server
The question is– how do we configure the mail / server so that we can access mail remotely?
In the MS environment we pointed to the external IP (81.137.xxx.yyy) and supplied the domain name (ourcompany.local for an ipad / iphone or sbserver.ourcompany.localfor Outlook).
Can anyone who has successfully implemented a Lion server environment please offer us any advice.
    Many thanks in anticipation.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I sort of have it working. The problem was I had incorrectly assumed that on the iphone / ipad I needed to use the MS Exchange type option to set up the email clients as I thought I would need to include the domain details.
Whilst trying to find a workaround solution I set up an IMAP account on my iphone whilst at home and ping, ping . . . all my mail arrived in my inbox.
I'm using my ISP's SMTP server for outgoing so major problems now solved - thanks for the help.
Now though a few strange things.
In an iphone we use the external IP address as the incoming mail server to receive email - this works fine in the office and when away unless . . . it's connected inside the office using wifi.
Similarly, on my macbook when I'm away having the IP address for incomain mail server works fine. When I'm in the office though I need to set it to mail.macserver.ourcompany.co.uk
Any ideas why when in the office an connected to the network it doesn't like the external IP as the incoming mail server but it works fine when away from the network?

  • Iphone - doing an email search and then deleting those emails doesn't work

    Hi,
I manage IT for several small businesses.
Right now I have two different clients with different Exchange servers.
One of my clients has Intermedia Exchange 2010 and another has Rackspace Exchange 2013.
This issue is consistent on both platforms when connecting an Iphone or Ipad with latest ios 7 release.
I get a bunch of emails from something called "BillingNotifications"
If I take my iphone or ipad, and then do a search for "BillingNotifications" in the Mail app, I get a bunch of results.
I then click Edit, and then click in the little circles for say, 3 of them that arrived this morning.  Then I click "Trash".
the emails disappear from the search.  However, if I jump out of the Search view, and back to regular mail view, the mails are still right there in the Inbox!  and are still in Outlook/OWA!
Has anyone noticed this?  it seems to be entirely an apple problem (not exchange).  Are there plans to fix it?

This also happens intermittently on my iPhone 5. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Open email, search for text, delete X number of lines and/or paragraphs?

How would one go about this?
I have existing code that uses the objActionsMenu.Execute to "resend" the message, essentially creating a new email that I can edit.
I would like to be able to:
    1) Search for a keyword
    2) Move to the end of the line and/or paragraph
    3) Delete the contents
The reason is that I often receive important emails with 50+ lines of names and email addresses on the "To:" or "CC:" lines. I want to quickly and easily remove these so I can get to the important part of the email.
Am I going about it the right way? If so, how would I accomplish this? Thanks.

I think you maybe in the wrong forums :). This is for Excel and not Outlook. This is a general VBA question though. The easiest way to do this is the following:
-Assign the content of the email body to a string variable.
-Use the split function to split at the keyword, and keep the string portion BEFORE the keyword.
-Assign the split string back to the email body so something like this:
Public Sub ReplyWithAttachments() ' Ensure reference to Word Object model is set
    Dim rpl As Outlook.MailItem
    Dim itm As Object
    Set itm = GetCurrentItem()
If Not itm Is Nothing Then
    Set rpl = itm.Reply
    rpl.BodyFormat = olFormatHTML
    rpl.display
    End If
    Dim objDoc As Word.Document
    Set objDoc = rpl.GetInspector.WordEditor
    Dim txt As String
    txt = objDoc.Windows(1).Document.Range.text
    txt = Split(txt, "To")(0) '
    objDoc.Windows(1).Document.Range.text = txt
    End Sub
    Function GetCurrentItem() As Object
    Dim objApp As Outlook.Application
    Set objApp = Application
    On Error Resume Next
    Select Case TypeName(objApp.ActiveWindow)
    Case "Explorer"
    Set GetCurrentItem = objApp.ActiveExplorer.Selection.Item(1)
    Case "Inspector"
    Set GetCurrentItem = objApp.ActiveInspector.CurrentItem
    End Select
    GetCurrentItem.UnRead = False
    Set objApp = Nothing
    End Function

  • Email search bug

I have discovered what I believe is a recent bug in Mail - I am using version 6.6 under OSx 10.8.5
I have my mail preview displayed in sort by date order. It threads the topics for me very nicely and on the indented threads it shows the name of the SENDER which is exactly what I would expect.
If I then do a search for an email of a word that appears in the email I get a similar view expect that the name displayed is the name of the ADRESSEE not the sender. This is really bizarre and not useful. Most email in my inbox is sent to me so this doesn't tell me anything. When searching I want to know who the email was sent FROM.
I can only assume that this is a bug and I would be grateful if Apple would fix it.

Thanks Tony - I hand't realised you can do this so I have filed a bug report as suggested.
The problem has been driving me mad as at first I hadn't realised why I could not find an email that I knew I had received. It seems a silly bug!

  • EMAIL SEARCHES FAIL EVERY TIME

Anything more than a trivial search where the sought results are already present on the page fails after a few seconds. It is as if the search times out - no partial results.
I know I have old emails in storage and I know I have search terms that will match - but always the search fails with nothing useful as diagnostic. This condition has been forever. It renders the search feature useless.

I also have problems using search.  I access my email via Webmail, but the search capability is useless.
I can search on "Sent by" or "sent to", but trying to search "subject" or message content does not work.
This renders my email capability almost useless.
Can someone provide instructions on getting the searches of past emails to work?
    Thanks,
    DT
