BB10 Support for Bluetooth AVRCP 1.4??

Hi guys,
This is something that has been bugging me for a while and I could not find answers anywhere else on the internet regarding this.
AVRCP 1.4 is the evolution of AVRCP 1.3, which enables bluetooth connected devices (eg.: a cars infotainment system) to search through the phones music playlists, display album art, playlist information and etc.
As it seems to me, this is not supported by the latest official OS release.
My question is: Is this in BlackBerry's TO-DO list?? iOS7 and Android KitKat both support the AVRCP 1.4 bluetooth profile, which makes me wonder why BB has not enabled this yet?
I attach the link to a pdf explaining everything there is to know about AVRCP 1.4
BB, please make this work !!!!
bluetooth.org - AVRCP ver1.4
Cheers,

Sounds like you're describing a product from the old USSR.
Another feature missing from the N8 is what Damian Dinning mentioned while discussing the N8's camera with GSMarena:
If you prefer the more processed look, you can adjust the color and sharpness settings on-the-fly and the Nokia N8 will remember those settings for the next time you start the camera.
I can't get this to work on my N8. Does it mean that the feature is there but I can't use it?

  • Apt-x Support for Bluetooth A2DP?

    Hi,
are there any plans to support the apt-X codec for the Bluetooth A2DP Profile? Maybe that could solve some of the bad A2DP audio qualitiy issues, that are still expierienced by some users (including me) on all the available phones (tested Pre- with 1.4.5, Pre+ with 1.4.5 and 2.1, Pixi Plus with 1.4.5, Pre2 with 2.0 and 2.1, all gave the same issues with different headsets and receivers!).
apt-X seems to be coming quite fast, not only because apple has built in support for it in it's latest products, but also because it offers CD level quality on low encoding cost, which is MUCH more than the poor SBC codec can deliver.
I hope HP with it's Beat audio line of products will consider adding such enhanced A2DP codecs to the mobile devices... wireless headsets are so much more convinient than anything wired can be. But at the momen A2DP sound quality is unbearable with my Palm handsets and I still have no clue where that issue arises from (my last guess is, that it's connected to me being an european costumer and we are few compared to the majority of the us costumers. As far as I understood there are differences in the radio part of the handsets between EU and US devices, so maybe those differences break A2DP Bluetooth quality).
Post relates to: Pre Plus p100ueu (Vodafone)

Thanks for all of the replies. I also saw in the Z white paper that the apt-X codec is not listed, so the question becomes "can apt-X be pushed via a software update?"
For those interested in streaming to your home stereo or powered speaker, here's what I ended up doing.
Purchased a Rocketfish Bluetooth Music Receiver from Best Buy (in the US). It is a pretty slick lttle device, about the same size as the power plug adaptor and it supports A2DP and apt-X. There are two audio outputs: analog via a headphone jack and optical. And it ships with a 6' 3.5mm stereo audio cable and a  RCA adaptor.
Setup was easy. Connect the audio to the stereo's AUX inputs, set the stereo's source to AUX, plug in the BT receiver power, turn on the tablet Bluetooth on the tablet and play music.
At first the sound was pretty compressed from MP3's, Pandora and the Google Play service. The fix was to go into the Google Play app > settings > equalizer. Click on "surround sound" and change the setting from "headphone" to "studio".Then play with the equalizer settings to tweak. Results in much improved audio.
Happy camper now... music streaming through the house and no wires!

  • Is Support for Bluetooth Phone Headsets on the Way?

I am very unhappy that I cannot seem to sync my Plantronics 520 headset with my iPad. Since the device works for my Macbook, I never considered it wouldn't sync with the iPad. I don't care if the mic functions with Skype (though that would be nice). I just want to use my earpiece instead of headphones.
    My questions are as follows:
Is there anyway to sync with the Plantronics 520 and similar devices that I may not be aware of?
Is the exclusion of these type of headsets a hardware failing or a software failing?
If it is a software failing, do we have any hope for bluetooth headset inclusion in future updates?

It could be your headset. Mine paired fine.

  • Why no support for bluetooth headphones

Why is there no real support on the Iphone 3GS for the BT headphones that Apple sells. No next/previous except voice which is not something really usable. I know that every other phone out there can and does support these functions. So how do we get it to work on the 3GS?

Why is there no real support on the Iphone 3GS for the BT headphones that Apple sells.
Because that's the decision Apple have made. No one here is going to have any more definitive insight into their reasoning than you do.
So how do we get it to work on the 3GS?
You don't. Apple would need to add this functionality into a future firmware update. It's not something you can add yourself.
Some people have said that the reason Apple haven't included full Bluetooth remote control functionality is that it would allow other devices to work with the iPhone fully without using the dock connector, which companies need to pay a license to Apple to use. I have no idea whether that is true.
You can send feedback to Apple directly here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Support for Bluetooth??

I am tired of catching my earbuds and cord in everything and would like to use a Bluetooth enabled wireless headset. Is this possible with my iPod 60Gb Video iPod? Thanks....

It now works in OS X as of 10.4.9! I tested on both my Dulie G5 and my MacBookPro.
Here are the steps I took to make it happen, pretty simple. But it took some playing around to get it.
Open the Bluetooth Preference Pane, Click Devices, select your device and click Configure.
It will scan your device; Click 'Continue'
It should then display the Conclusion screen that will contain "Use as personal area network"
    Click Quit
Click Settings and be sure "Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar" is Checked.
On your WM5 device connect your network using the Internet Sharing application.
Back on your Mac go to the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar, click and select "Join Network on <devicename>"
Your on! Oddly on my Macbook it shows under the Network prefs as a Ethernet Adaptor, but on my G5 it shows as Bluetooth PDA.
    Thanks for the update Apple!!

  • Why no SyncML-support for Harmattan??

I've used SyncML on my N95 with memotoo.com for years. Worked very well. I took it for granted that SyncML would be supported on the N9. But alas, it isn't. I find that really incomprehensible. Worse yet, CalDAV syncing with memotoo doesn't work - I don't know who's to blame for this, but on the desktop it works flawelessly so I do have a suspicion. Even worse: there is no way to sync contacts using CardDAV.
MeeGo (the true MeeGo) has SyncML-support out-of-the-box. And the N9/N950 does have SyncML-support for bluetooth.
Yes, contacts syncing is supported for Ovi. And Google. And Facebook. But I do NOT want to use those services, because of grave privacy risks and because they use yet again some proprietary protocols.
I wonder, what where they thinking at Nokia for NOT supporting some well-known open standards??
(While I'm ranting: why is there ^%@$ Facebook and GTalk-support over XMPP, but no self-defined XMPP account?? Yes, you can add such accounts from the terminal, using mc-tool, but really that's just a kick in the teeth. And where's UPnP/DLNA-support?)

Hey Guys, Did you figure out any way to do PIM sync via SyncML on N9?
I am struggling to get things moving as I come from N8.
N9 just doesnt have any way to sync calendar, tasks with Ovi. Same with Notes.
    Best Regards,
    Suyog

  • Does the Ipod Touch 5th generation support AVRCP for bluetooth connectivity.

Do the Ipod Touch 5th generation support AVRCP for bluetooth connectivity.
I would like to know if it supports the volume control, call answering function and next/back song panel in a bluetooth headphone. (AVRCP bluetooth)
Does it support headphones with microphone? (for Face Time, TinyChat or recording)
Does it support this device on bluetooth with the Ipod Touch 5th Gen?

    Thanks for a speedy reply

Though this wasn't updated (not having the Ipod Touch 5) but seeing the Ipod Touch 4 having both AVRCP and A2DP, Ipod Touch 5 should also have those...
Thank you so much... Have a wonderful day

  • HT204387 Does the IPhone 4S support NFC technology for Bluetooth pairing?

Does the IPhone 4s support NFC technology for Bluetooth pairing.

NFC and bluetooth are not the same thing.
The iPhone (no currently existing model) does not have the hardware required for NFC.

  • [Request] Full support for AVRCP

I just bought a 3GS and it's my first iPhone, i love it, but it does have it's limitations that many phones from the past 5+ years have.
Full support for AVRCP in 3.1 please!. I can play/pause but can't skip/prev and it's annoying since i got a S305 headset and i ride a bike and listen to music on the way to work and i want to skip a song but i can't since it isn't supported yet.

  • Which Stereo Bluetooth headset with remote supports for Iphone3Gs??

please anybody can tell me which is the best Stereo Bluetooth headset with remote support for Iphone3Gs??
    thanks in advance

    Hello thomulusmax,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums
As long as your device is running software version 4.2.2 or higher it supports A2DP. (You can verify this under Options >> About)
Keep in mind that not all Bluetooth headsets are A2DP enabled. As long as your headset supports A2DP and it pairs and connects with your Pearl you should be able to listen to any supported audio format.
    Cheers!

  • Does iOS 5 support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) for interacting with text messages in Ford Sync?

I'd sure love to take advantage of Ford Sync's ability to read aloud and let me interact with bluetooth text messages by voice.  I had heard rumours that iOS 5 was going to support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) like other phone manufacturers, but in my latest update I received while testing and reading other non-Apple sites, that appears not to be the case.
Is this something I'd have to upgrade to the iPhone 4S to otherwise get?
It's not Siri I'm interested in, just this particular feature to allow the phone to interact with my vehicle.  If there's a 3rd party app out there that helps I'm open to that idea too.  Thinking about what my next smart phone's going to be with LTE, and this is weighing in on my decision, lots of enterprise users out there with Ford as their company fleet vehicle too (hint hint!).  A nice way to save lives too for those who refuse to not read/reply to texts while driving (I'm not in that club, but many are).
    Kind Regards,
    Brian

For the public record, here's the feedback I submitted based on Allan's suggestion.  Thank you both, guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope others share their feedback in a positive way to Apple too.
I'd sure love to take advantage of Ford Sync's ability to read aloud and let me interact with bluetooth text messages by voice.  However it requires phones to support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) like Android and other phone manufacturers.
Humbly requesting this is something that gets added to a future iOS update.
It's not Siri I'm interested in, just this particular feature to allow the phone to interact with my vehicle by using the vehicles embedded voice and heads-up display commands.
    Advantages:
    (1) Gives one less reason for Apple people to stray to Google
    (2) Saves lives too for those who refuse to not read/reply to texts while driving
    (3) Keeps drivers behaving legally (outside of common sense, many provinces and states have enacted laws to try and protect people against themselves)
    (4) A critical enterprise feature if Apple is attempting to continue to break into that market, most fortune 500 companies that have employees using fleet vehicles use Ford, but frankly other manufacturers coming to market with these features too.
Thanks for consideration around this feature.  If you'd like to understand the use-case more or be pointed to threads in the discussion forum and 3rd party websites begging for this feature, happy to discuss.
    Kind Regards,
    Brian R. Kneebone

  • Support for multiple bluetooth connections

I am looking at the blackberry Curve but need to know if it will support a Bluetooth GPS and Bluetooth headset at the same time. If not, will the 8830?
    Stephen

The 8900 has built in GPS (which works well) so you will only need one bluettoth connection.
I use the same set up in my car - BB satnav using built in GPS and bluetooth handsfree - works great

  • Support for atp-x in Bluetooth ipad mini

Hello all... I am wondering if the new ipad mini has full support for csr atp-x codec in the OS. Or more spesific, Can i use the ipad mini
with a atp-x audio device without using an external dongle?
I am not able to find anything on apple website regarding this, but I would imagine that there are several here that know this
    Thanks

Can you please let me know how you know that...? I read in August's issue of What Hi-Fi magazine  that apt-X "is available in all Apples running Mac OS X 10.6.5 or later". And ipad mine run : Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later.
That is why this is all confusing, I would love to know some more details
No iPad runs any version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X is for Mac desktop and MacBook computers only. Your iPad Mini is running iOS 6.0.1.

  • No A2DP support for Nokia N80!

I just wonder why Nokia can't add support for A2DP in the new firmware for Nokia N80ie cellphone. =(
I just uppdatet my phone in hope of getting somewhere, but it was pointless.
It would be pretty nice if i could use my N80 as a real media centre with my Jabra BT 620s bluetooth headset but no way.
I am just intrested why not, i have read som discussions in this forum and other N phones did get their uppdates with A2DP support . Or am i wrong. Am i doing somethig wrong and cant get this to work?

A2DP and AVRCP does not require additional hardware for bluetooth 1.2 and above. It is based purely on software simulation.
Nokia can support A2DP in nokia n80. but battery could be an issue. Initial prototype of N80 had bluetooth 2 but then it was downgraded to 1.2 !!!
