Exciting, isn't it? From the official press release....
Found on Channel 689, BBC AMERICA HD is available in FiOS TV’s Extreme HD and Ultimate HD packages.  BBC AMERICA is already available in standard definition on FiOS TV Channel 189.  Verizon also plans to add BBC AMERICA HD to its FiOS TV Video on Demand offering soon.
The HD launch on FiOS TV comes just in time for the start of BBC AMERICA’s newest series,“COPPER,” from Academy Award-winner Barry Levinson, Emmy-winner Tom Fontana and Academy Award-nominee Will Rokos.  The series – a gripping drama set in 1864 New York City and filled with intrigue, corruption and mystery – premieres Sunday (Aug. 19) at 10 p.m. ET/PT.  Other popular shows include “Doctor Who,” “Top Gear,” “The Graham Norton Show” and Dramaville’s acclaimed miniseries “The Hour” and “Luther,” for which Idris Elba won a Golden Globe.
Happy TV watching! Do you have a favorite show? I've heard amazing things about "Doctor Who" and "Luther."

  • Why is BBC America Offered in all lineups except Prime

When I signed up for the Prime package the sales rep told me that BBC America was included. I noticed it was listed in the Select and Extreme packages, but not Prime, but he assured me that if it was listed in Select, it was also in Prime even though not listed.
Guess what, its not available in my lineups, and I specifically wanted this channel.
i called Customer Serive to ask why this was the case, and she pretty much compared it to ordering of the McDonald's Dollar Menu... that sometimes you can only get a channel if you specifcailly order a package that its included in.  She pretty much blamed me for not paying attention and ordering a pacakge that included all the channels I wanted. Told me I had to pay$15 more a month for that channel. I was beyond insulted how rudely she talked down to me.
However, if you offer BBC America in Select, Extreme, and Ultimate pacakges, then why the hell not is it included in Prime. This makes absoluetely no sense.
Three days into your service and the 75/35 internet speed is no different that the 15/5 I had with Comcast, and now I have less channels for the same money.  Please explain to me why I shouldn't cancel my service today.

BBC America is in prime, but not the HD version.
Not in my house.  I have Prime, but no BBC America on 189 or 689.  No OnDemand, either.  In short, no BBC America on Prime, as the OP pointed out.
    Oh Well.

  • Labview: resource not found ; Specifically a VI located in my LV 8.2 Project I am trying to download to my FP-2000 and run.

    Hi,
I am fairly new to the LV Project method of building executable files and embeded applications.
I have been using LV 7.2 for the last few years and finally switched over to 8.2 this last summer.
My problem is that I have an embedded application that I need to troubleshoot, but every time I try and run it from my desktop, it hits me with one of these messages:
Deploying MPPT-Testbed  (successfully deployed target settings)
    Deploying ErrorConvert.vi  (already deployed)
    Deploying FP Close(IO).vi
    Failed to download FP Close(IO).vi
    LabVIEW:  Resource not found.
    LabVIEW:  Resource not found.
The FP Close(IO).vi is the latest issue, I have had other files that have failed to load as well.  I have attempted to make a common folder for all of my shared VIs, I have 6 FP-2000 controllers.
    Any ideas?
I run LV 8.2 w/RT on my desktop, my FP-2000 is running LV 8.2, FP Drivers 5.2.0 and FP VI Manager 4.1.0

    Hi Bill,
Since you produced code in a previous version of LabVIEW, and therefore previous FieldPoint driver version, you will need to revamp your code a little to be able to use it in LV 8.2 with FieldPoint 5.0. I'm assuming that the FP Close.vi is not available in the palette that is not available in LabVIEW 8.2. This is expected, as FieldPoint 5.0 utilizes different VIs than previous versions. Accordingly, you do not need to use the FP Open or FP Close VIs, as they are not available in this driver version. However, you only need to use a Browse I/O Point and either a FP Read, FP Write or FP Read/Write. Generally, a quick modification of your code will take care of this problem. Let us know if you need help with this; a screenshot of your code might be helpful. Thanks!

  • BBC America HD Channel Not Available

I'm seeing a notice on channel 689 for BBC America HD that the channel isn't available, but I can view the SD version on 189.  Anyone else having this problem?  I used the in home agent and it didn't report any outages.

Thanks, tns.  Tried rebooting and I guess I'll have to try the dreaded reset and lose my settings.  I may wait a day or so to see if I get lucky and it fixes itself.  Appreciate you letting me know it's working for you.  Anyone on VHO 2 having problems (Florida)?

  • BBC America On Demand Update

For the past two weeks, BBC America On Demand hasn't been updated.
According to the BBC America On Demand Web Site it has been kept up to date and shows more recent programming than FIOS' BBC America On Demand.
    Why is this so???

Regarding BBC OnDemand...I was wondering, since the addition of BBC-HD is not possible at the moment, is there a way that FIOS might be able to add BBC OnDemand in HD?  (Something similar to what is  currently being done with FEARNet...we have the standard channel, but there is also an HD OnDemand option.)  It would certainly be nice to have something to tide viewers over until the day that the HD channel can actually be provided.'

  • BBC America on Demand

On Wednesday the last episode of The Hour was on--Part 6.  I set recorder for the 1am episode.  Whether Verizon guide screwed up or BBC America, I ended up with two recordings of The Hour.  One started at 11pm, was 14 minutes and was not The Hour.  The other one started at 1am, was 45 minutes long and started half way through the episode.  Ok-- thought I could watch it On Demand, but Part 6 is not even there yet.  It only goes up to 5.  Why doesn't Verizon put it on demand as soon as it has aired?

We load the content to the VOD servers when it is provided to us. I apologize for the delay.

  • BBC America - HD

BBC America is starting to step up the quality of it's programming and I seem to be watching it more and more. Is there any information on BBC America HD being offered anytime soon? It would be a great addition to the HD lineup!

    >Don't expect much of anything new until later in the Summer when channel capacity will be available
Thats fine!  BUT TELL US!  Without ANY kind of announcement, even one "We need to wait until end of summer, but then WATCH OUT!" or something like that.  Right now, it really looks like they don't care and are being very arrogant.

  • Cartoon HD, BBC America HD, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network

    Hi all,
I submitted a request to FIOS customer support for Cartoon NetworkHD and BBC America HD, and was recommended to post the request here.  These are two heavily viewed channels in my home, and it's only fitting to view their HD services, as we do with most major cable nets.  Even the new HUB kids channel is being carried in HD.
Also, on 1/1/11, Discovery Health is becoming OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, and I would like to confirm that FIOS will be carrying it in SD AND HD.
    Thanks!

Fios already has the HUB in HD. I'm not sure by your post if you knew that or not. Naturally they will be carrying OWN in SD since they already have Discovery Health. The HD will probably be picked up at a later time.

  • Upgrading my intel iMac to internal SSD and running 1TB external drive from firewire 800 for mass storage while still using a second external drive for backups...my goal-speed with a SSD, to still have 1TB of room for everything i have now..possible?

I seem to kill HD's every two years...the last two i've installed were WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200rpm 3.5" drives. The speed gains over  stock drives have been remarkable. I don't blame the drives for the failures, my machines are up and running 16 hours a day, every day, year round. They die from 'mileage' so to speak...i assume...there's no viral acvtivity or questionable downloads to gunk things up...just lots of work.
I have my third new drive ready to install in my intel based iMac...but i've had a thought...I want to install a SSD in my iMac for the speed gain (and recent price drops)...for standard storage i want to use this new WD Caviar Black 1TB in an external drive bay and connect via firewire 800 for storing everything except the OS and my most commonly used software...am i crazy? will the firewire 800 external drive negate the speed gained with an internal SSD??
I have four iMacs in my office, and one at home. I buy second hand and install new drives and boost memory. I'm going to do this on my 'home' machine...if it works out well i want to upgrade the other three this way...but first i need to know if i'm just dreaming, or will it really make a difference? or even possible??
    Thanks!

The SSD gives great bootup and Application launch speed. I think it also speeds up the video rendering a bit, I do all that on the SSD and then move the finished project to the external drives. As far as the speed for the external drives they are quick enough for viewing video and the file transfer rate is good. I had initially put the SSD into an external cradle (FW800) and the system was faster than on the internal drive. I only got a 1.5GBs SATA drive, perhaps yours could benefit from the 3GBs. I know the 6GBs would be too fast and costs a lot more, even the MacPros need special hookups to make use of the 6GBs.

  • How to install LV runtime engine and run .vi's in linux

I am attemtpting to load run time engine and run a .vi on Linux system.
Here is what I have done so far.
    1. I don't have rpm on my system (gentoo) so I used the app on the install cd called INSTALL.norpm to install
labview70-rte-7.0.1.i386.rpm. It looks like it worked, there are a lot of files copied to /usr/local. A couple of .so files and a directory called Labview-7.0 (12M of files).
    2. Made a test vi on other linux box that has full development system installed (also gentoo but i have rpm on this system).
Do I need this application builder i keep hearing about to make an .exe or can I run vi's with this run time engine?
What is the syntax to run a vi in linux?  ./test.vi   ????
Is application builder a seperate program that I must purchase?
When I attemp to run a vi I get garbage printing to the console, not unlike when you cat a binary file.
Any help would be appreciated. Is there instructions somewhare??? A manual perhaps that explains rte install and operation.
    D.A.M.

You need the application builder to create an exe. The rte by itself will not run a VI. The exe does require the rte. It is possible to create a "loader" program that you can use to run separate VIs but the loader program must be created with the app builder. The app builder is a separate add-on or if you buy the professional version of LabVIEW, it comes included with that.

  • Getting vsftpd up and running[SOLVED]

    hi folks,
i'm trying to set up ftp via vsftpd so i can connect to my home box from my android phone to download media files and such (no uploading from the phone). vsftpd appears to be up and running but i just cannot seem to connect to it from my android. my setup is this :
arch64 box hardwired to a router, and my android phone which can connect to the router wirelessly or has my phone providers internet service.
i've added vsftpd to my rc.conf, and it starts at boot time no problem. here's a copy of my vsftpd.conf

i think i'm right that vsftpd allows me to connect with users that are already set up on my machine, so i created vsftpd.user_list and justr added my normal login name to that. thats what i'm going to login with. my router i set up to forward ports 20/21 from my arch box's ip (192.168.2.6). it also has a setting for private port range, but i just left that the same as the other range. so thats the router sorterd i think. finally i have the settings for my ftp client, in this case Andftp.
hostname - external ip adress of router
    protocol - ftp
port - 21, but have tried 20 too
    username - my linux login
    password - linux pass
    local dir - /sdcard
    remote dir - /home/myusername
when i try to connect via my phones internet it just times out, ive always tried these settings with my file browsers ftp client. and when i try to connect over wifi, it just refuses to log in. i'm not sure if can be logged into my box at the same time as trying to log in from my phone with the same username. so i tried while being logged out of my box. still no joy. thats about as much info as i can give, apologies for the length of this post, and thanks for taking the time to read it
