BBC Radio is no longer available on BT Internet Ra...

I am receiving a message on each BBC station on my BT Internet Reciva radio device that Real Media stream is no longer available from the end of May. Can anyone advise how I get to use my internet radio again?

The BBC Real media streams have been gradually disappearing but don't worry - there are WMA alternatives for all of them, and internet radio is alive and well. BBC internet radio has been in a bit of a muddle recently as they switch to iPlayer. I think they took their eye of the ball with regard to internet radio sets for a while.
https://radios.reciva.com/ is the place to go to find the alternatives.
There is also a discussion forum here https://forum.reciva.com/ where you can ask for advice from other users and where reciva.com staff also keep an eye on things.
http://www.iplayerconverter.co.uk/ also has a lot of good feeds "prepacked" for all the BBC stations - you can put them in your podcast section on reciva.com - I often find that is the best way of getting what I want. I have a feed for each BBC station I want, from that site, one for "today" and the other for "listen again" and they are all available on the radio screen once you have programmed them all in via reciva.com interface.
I also have a BT Internet Radio and it is still doing everything it used to do. No - they aren't available any more, but there are other models out there - all discussed at reciva.com.

  • Why are BBC radio stations no longer available on Apple TV?

The BBC radio stations are suddenly no longer available via my Apple TV.
This has happened before but they came back again.
Is there a reason for this?

It appears the BBC no longer provides a high and low rate stream for each station. I had BBC Radio 6 Music High as a favourite which stopped working about a week ago. A couple days later a message came up saying that station was no longer available and offering to remove it as a favourite. I went back to the Alternative category and found it just listed as BBC Radio 6 Music which works. I now have that as a favourite.
There is now a single listing for the other Beeb stations. BBC Radio 1 is under Top 40/Pop, Radio 2 is under Adult Contemporary, Radio 3 under Classical and Radios 4 & 5 under News/Talk. I dont know if some of the specialty stations are there, or if they were even there before.

  • I bought a bbc top gear mag subscription, but it says I need to download a update. The app symbol no longer exists on my ipad and this bbc app is no longer available in Australia to reload. In settings newsstand the subscription still exists

Hi All, I have purchased a BBC top gear magazine subscription thru the App Store about 6 months ago. This bbc app is no longer available to download in Australia because of the Australian version of the mag now being available. Firstly the app symbol has completely disappeared from my ipad. I can still locate my original purchase in settings>newsstand and subscriptions updates are enabled. My second problem is I cannot download any new magazine editions because a message says I need to update the app. Since their is no app to update on my ipad and the app no longer exists/ is available in App Store Australia I'm kind of stuck. The app is available in the USA App Store but I cannot join because I'm not a resident of the us. Any help would be appreciated thanks Fassihire

I think your best bet here is to contact the app developer. Sounds like you need advanced troubleshooting that someone who is a part of the app would know best how to resolve. Best of luck.

  • BBC Radio Player no longer works with Airport Express

This weekend I've been unable to get connected to the BBC Radio Player (from http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio). This has worked for the past year, and suddenly stopped.
I have narrowed the problem down to the airport express. Radio streaming works without a hitch when I plug in the ethernet cable direct to either mac, or when I connect to another local Wi-Fi connection. But when I use Airport Express, the radio streaming always times-out.
I even set up one of the computers to share internet over the airport, and was easily able to stream the radio connection to the other computer: so the airport cards themselves are working perfectly.
I wondered if anyone else had the same problem. I've noticed it since I upgraded to 10.4.3 and included the 2005-01 Airport Update, though I didn't notice the problem for several days (I did no streaming in that time).
I've tried downgrading to Airport 4.2, and even Airport Express Firmware 6.1.1, but nothing has solved the problem. There isn't an obvious setting I've missed - is there?
If anyone else can stream BBC Radio with all the recent updates applied through Airport Express, I would be interested in hearing from them...

Well, I found the answer to my problem. I'll add it here, in case someone else ever has the same problem.
My Speedtouch modem was set to distribute DHCP addresses. But my Airport Express was ALSO set to do this. This had the strange effect of allowing everything to work, apart from Real Player radio/video streams. I have no idea why this was the only effect.
The solution was to set the Airport Express to do nothing, and let the modem do it all. Now both computers can stream radio at the same time, and everything is fine. But it took many hours to find the problem.

  • Why is Podcast 606 Football Phone-In no longer available in Ireland

Attempted to download Podcast 606 Football Phone In, it is a football phone in show from BBC Radio 5 in the UK. iTunes tells me it is no longer available in Ireland, just wondering does anyone out there know why?

It says the same for me but for Ireland read UK. (I am in UK btw).
Have had to download from BBC website and sync it onto iPhone.

  • BBC Radio 4 dissappears after latest Apple TV update

Oddly - it seems that BBC Radio 4 is no longer available on Apple TV Radio. It used to be under News/Talk Radio but has vanished following the latest update. Radio 2 is still around - and 3 (under 'Classical') - what's happend to 4?! I've checked that it hasn't moved. Is this yet another post-Mavericks teething problem?
Incidentally be good to get BBC iPlayer (and others) via Apple TV without having to go around the houses by using other devices.

I am advised by the Mac folks that this a BBC issue not an Apple Mac one. The BBC can decoide or not to be included on the listing. Odd to say the least as we can get all BBC radio and TV stations via the web. I had a similar problem with Bluray DVD player that claimed iP~layer as one of its feature - didn't work and the manufacturer said was the BBC blocking it. So we get on to the BBC I guess.

  • Audio samples on BBC Radio 1 Top 40 charts not working in Firefox

    Hi..
I'm having trouble playing music samples on the BBC Radio 1 UK Top 40 web page:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles
There is a play icon for each song but when pressed, an exclamation mark appears. This happens for all the songs. I've tried running FF in Safe Mode but that didn't solve things. I'm able to listen without any problems using IE as well as Chrome but I'd rather just use FF.
I'm using FF v36.0.1, although this problem has been present for a while. Windows 7 x64 with SP1 and all updates.
Any advice or suggestions would be great.
    Thanks :)
Just to add the other BBC news/radio/sports/video players appear to be working as normal on FF...it's just these short snippets which aren't co-operating.

It is an MP3 clip served using the content type audio/mpeg. If you use this test page, can you play the MP3 clip: http://hpr.dogphilosophy.net/test/
Firefox doesn't have the built-in ability to decode MPEG media. Instead, it uses Media Foundation (part of Windows) or if that isn't available, DirectShow (an older Windows technology). These are enabled by default, but sometimes are disabled by users who prefer to download MP3 media instead of playing it in the browser.
You can check the settings here:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''media''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) If the '''media.directshow.enabled''' preference is bolded and user set to false, double-click it to switch it back to true.
    (4) If the '''media.windows-media-foundation.enabled''' preference is bolded and user set to false, double-click it to switch it back to true.
If you changed these settings, does that make any difference?

  • Web clip widget from bbc radio - cannot delete it.

    Hi Community,
I have an issue with my dashboard - hope you guys can help me out:
I tried the web clip widget feature with a web player of bbc radio, but I never really made it work, so since a couple of weeks now I try to delete it again. When I try to access my Dashboard it instantly redirects me to a browser window with the cookie website (http://cookie.radioplayer.co.uk/cm/lp/s) of bbc.
As it instantly redirects me OFF the dashboard - I cant click on the - button below, nor am I fast enough to click alt and the X on the widget.
It also doesnt appear in the library/widgets folder, so Im screwed. -.-
    Someone with an idea?
Passively accessing the Dashboard - something like Safe Mode - is available? I mean accessing it without loading/updating the widgets?
    Thanks for the help
    Cheers
    Alex

    Hi Alex
I believe the BBC recently changed the way they code the radio widget, making it impossible to remain in the Dashboard. But, as you've found, the actual widget isn't in the Widgets folder.
The only way you can remove it is to trash your preferences. Go to the home Library folder, then Preferences, and trash com.apple.dashboard.plist and com.apple.dashboard.client.plist. Immediately reboot.
You might want to look at RadioAunty for an alternative way to access BBC radio stations.

  • How do I make a CD from a BBC Radio 4 programme I have recorded using EyeTV

    I am using a MacBookPro OS 10.7.5
I have tried in vain using Toast 7 Titanium Version 7.1 to make a CD from four 15-minute BBC radio programmes recorded on EyeTV DTT   Version 3.5.4.   I cannot get Toast, set for Audio, to accept the four files.
I would also like to make a CD from a MPEG-1, Layer 3, 12.9 MB  audio file which is encoded with LAME 3.98.
I recently bought  Wondershare, but am having difficulty in using it also.
I would be eternally grateful to anybody who could talk me through this.  Thank you.

MPEG StreamClip isn't exactly intuitive in its operation. Here's another method you coiuld try (no guarantees).
    Download VLC Media Player (free).
Drag the file onto the icon for the player (probably you will have a .ts file). From the File menu choose Streaming/Exporting Wizard.
Select Transcode/Save to file; select File.
Tick Transcode Audio: choose Codec - Uncompressed, integer 512kb/s
Tick Choose and give it a name. It will save as a .wav which should burn in Toast.
Alternative method: get Audio Hijack Pro ($32), then you can play the original file and record it to WAV or AIFF file in real time.

  • BBC Radio 4 podcast not iTunes compatible?

Then why is it available in iTunes, I wonder?
When I try to look at the episodes from "Friday Night Comedy from BBC Radio 4", I get the following error:
"There are no playable episodes for Friday Night Comedy from BBC Radio 4. The URL might oiunt to text-only episodes, or contain file types that iTunes cannot play".
I'm using the very latest version of iTunes (7.7.1.) The podcast seems to download okay. Perhaps this is corrupted content on the iTunes store? However, from the reviews of this podcast, other people seem to be enjoying it.

Sounds like you have the downloaded version of BBC iPlayer.
To be behaving that way, it must be in the startup items or login items on your Mac.
    Start by looking in
System Preferences > Accounts > your account > Login Items
and remove any refence to iPlayer or BBC (highlight the item and click the minus sign at the bottom of the window),
Then look in the following locations for iPlayer dæmon or similar related files and delete them if found.
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents
    /Library/LaunchAgents
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/LaunchAgents
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    /System/Library/StartupItems
Where ~/ denotes your home folder and / denotes the Macintosh HD.

  • BBC Radio Player on Q5 BB 10

    Hi
any idea when i will be able to get the BBC Radio Player app on my Q%?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
As has always been with BBs, the developers and not BlackBerry determine if/when their app will be available for any specific platform. Hence, you need to contact that developer to find out if/when they will do so for yours.
    Good luck!

  • BBC Radio IPlayer - Unable to play live.

Hi, having a problem playing LIVE audio from BBC radio via browser. I believe you should be able to play the radio station live from the browser. I can play podcasts and old shows but not live.
    Has anyone experienced this?
    Thanks

I've read a lot of posts on forums about apps that are widely available on Apple iThings and Android but not on BlackBerry. It seems to me that the people at BlackBerry are just hanging on in the fight against the other platforms and don't have the time or inclination to develop, or collaborate with others to develop, apps that would make their offering much more appealing to the wider market thereby increasing their market share. But that's just my uneducated opinion.
If anyone from BlackBerry does read this forum, ease could you at least get browser to play BBC live. It's just a little thing but it would make a lot of people happy.

  • Listening to BBC radio stream

    Hi
I live in Bangkok and like to listen to the BBC radio 5 web stream while driving around town.
Currently I'm using WunderRadio but I was wondering if anyone would recommend different radio streaming software?
    Thanks
    Mick

    Hi BkkMick,
My app (yes, I'm the developer, and I will get paid if you buy my app) ooTunes Radio has many of the BBC streams. However, only those that are available in windows media audio (WMA format) will work in the apps that support wma format. ooTunes Radio (my app), Wunder, pocket tunes and FStream (a free app) all support wma audio streams. I have the BBC 5 live and BBC 5 sports xtra streams already in the built in database and they work great. The full list of stations compatible with my app is here: http://ootunes.com/s/ though there are a few BBC streams there that only work in the UK (they are labeled that way). Good Luck!
