Bbm available without the blackberry bridge

why they havent add a bbm version the you can use without having to be connected with the blackberry bridge?

Apparently because they're still working on very fundamental changes to let the whole system work effectively when you have multiple devices (different PINs), like a phone and a PlayBook.
There's no particular timeline other than that they've basically promised it will be in place when the phones are ready, and will by then (or earlier?) also be available for the WiFi-only PlayBooks. (Pretty sure I got that right, but you can google for references if you really care.)

  • Running without the Apache Bridge

Recently we decided to try running our weblogic 10.x servers without the apache bridge layer. We used our load balancer to accomplish across 6 managed servers on 3 physical servers. about the same time we started to have issue with clients trying to login the site that was being powered by Weblogic Portal. Could these be related? Does Apache bridge do more than just proxy the requests? Does it supply some sort of persistence that maybe our load balancer is failing to provide? Maybe another cookie or header value?

Typically for Web Applications - requests should go to Loadbalancer --> Loadbalancer proxies requests to Webservers (Apache) --> which in turns sends requests to backend Weblogic server instances.
However we can even have Loadbalancer to proxy requests to Weblogic App servers by eliminatinf webserver layer.
using Apache Webserver proxy plugin to proxy request to Weblogic App servers is more effective - Apache proxy plugin does loadbalancing of requests to backend Weblogic servers , if you are using cluster setup and session persistance, Apache proxy plugin will be taking care of session failover mechanism (it will replicate session information of failed server to other active running server so that user will not lose this session information).
By using Loadbalancer to proxy requests to Weblogic servers you might be achieving loadbalancing of requests, but it will not support session failover & other features of backend Weblogic cluster.
    Hope this helps

  • Is the Blackberry bridge 100% compatible to connect to a Playbook 64GB with a new 9360 BB?

My question is around the following situation:
If I have a new 9360 Blackberry can I share my internet bandwidth via blackberry bridge to a new 64GB BB Playbook?

Bridge will work fine for emails, BBM and PIM but you might need a tether plan for bridge browser.

  • Can I retrieve contact info from a database without the BlackBerry

Here's my story---a couple of weeks ago, I dropped my Pearl 8130 into a big cup of water. After it miraculously came back to life, I decided it was high time to BACKUP my contact info... so I used desktop manager version 4.3.0.17 to do so... I only clicked on 'Addresses' which I assumed meant contacts. I kid you not---the VERY NEXT DAY, my poor BlackBerry went into the pool with me. Now, despite the fact that I just mentioned having gone swimming, I actually do not lead a lavish lifestyle... I live in the desert, and I needed to get my poor, overheated toddler into the pool asap. I do have cell phone insurance, but I don't have the $50 deductible to get a new BlackBerry. I am using a used Casio G'zOne Boulder right now. I had SO much contact info though, that I need. So, here is my question. Is there a way to convert the database (IPD File) info I saved into a word document, or some other readable form so I can obtain all my contacts?
    Thank you in advance,
    Crystal

Yes, google search for ABC Amber IPD Converter, and use that. It's not free, but the the trial software will handle limited number of records.
If you end up getting a new BlackBerry, you can restore that backup IPD file to your new device.

  • BBM icon not showing in Blackberry Bridge on Playbook

I've setup the Blackberry Bridge between the Playbook, and a BB Torch, all the bridge icons are showing except the BBM icon.   Is BBM available yet through the bridge connection?
Does anyone know when a video chat app will be available, is is this going to be pushed out through an update?

Here is another example of where someone from RIM needs to STEP UP and provide a definitive answer to the question:  Is BBM supported on PB. And the related question: Is SMS messaging supported on PB.  Seems crazy that RIM is leaving new PB users in limbo.  The answers are all rumors and heresay.  Let's get a statement on this from RIM!
Similarly, there are no answers from RIM on the issues with email attachments and other email quirks.  **bleep**?

  • I want to know if the blackberry can still be used without the service

    hi guys,
I want to know if I can still use the Blackberry on its own without the  Blackberry service such as email, Internet etc? And also can I still use the texts and calling on a Blackberry without the service?

In addition to what bewaarse said, you will not be able to use MMS either (they require data).

  • [Blackberry 8100] What are the best pic sizes for the blackberry?

Hi, I am the proud owner of a new blackberry 8100 and I have a few questions.
When I upload an image of 600x450 pixels to the media card, They display well, but when using the Zoom feature, the image starts to get blurry.  Now with a 600x450pixel image, I think the size would be large enough to get a closer zoom without the blurriness effect, but i'm a new user so I'm not really sure if I need a larger pixel image, or if I'm over-estimating the blackberry's Zoom feature and thinking it's a Zoom feature like Adobe's Photoshop. So what's the best recommendation for image sizes to be uploaded to the blackberry?
Also one more question regarding the desktop Manager. I have Version 4.6.0.12  and when trying to access the Media Manger, the "Start" button is faded out, so I cannot access it.  Why is this option not available when the blackberry is plugged in as a Mass Storage device?

The 8100 screen is 240x260 pixels.  Zooming in on the pic doesn't ever do the pic justice.
Are you sure that Media Manager is installed?  Some installs of Desktop Manager don't include Media Manager.  If it's indeed installed, does it work if you turn off mass storage mode?

  • Q5 with Blackberry bridge

I have just upgraded from a 9360 to a Q5. I also have the tablet. While my 9360 shared my calendar and other things with the tablet the Q5 only shares bbm and texts. What have I done wrong?

    Hello campocath,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Are you able to see the BlackBerry Bridge application icon on your device home screen? If not, have you checked to see if it is hidden? You can press the menu button and select show all to unhide it. If you are able to locate it, try moving the BlackBerry Bridge application icon to the applications folder. Use this link http://blck.by/1g0TgHg to see instructions on page 197 on how to move application icons to a folder.

  • Blackberry Bridge

Does anyone know where to download the Blackberry Bridge for 9800 (AT&T)? I'm testing a playbook to emulate a full blackberry device experience on the device.

Wll, the WSJ didn't need to substantiate anything, it's pretty well know that ATT has to come to the table.
However, the workaround to install the Bridge on ATT devices is pretty simple and painless.
And there's nothing deceptive, it is plainly noted in the Bridge application that ATT does not support Bridge.

  • Playbook not connecting to Internet via blackberry bridge

I am the owner of the playbook and love it everything's great. I recommend it to a couple of people and they are having problems.  The biggest one and reason for my cry out today is, I talked my aunt into the blackberry tablet as opposed to the kindle fire, because she is the owner of a blackberry smartphone from AT&T.  I told her how my phone connects through the bridge to get the Internet on the go without wifi, and as soon as I helped her set up her tablet with the new software she can not get the Internet through the blackberry bridge.  When I connect my blackberry smartphone to my play book I can still access the Internet without wifi so I'm  thinking its the update which I haven't done yet mine yet.  Can someone please help me, my aunt is older and depending on me and I have no clue what happened!  Thanks

AT&T require you to pay for their Internet tethering bolt on in order to use the browser etc via bridge.

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 problems with Blackberry Bridge

    Hi All Please help me!!!
I have a curve 8520 details & spec below. I have owned a Blackberry Playbook since Feb this year. Originally when I installed the Blackberry Bridge to my curve I managed to pair the 2 devices and I happily used this for a few months. I think an update came on my phone in App World and one day a couple of months ago I simply couldn't pair the devices. I did the usual un-install and re-install of all necessary applications but to no avail. I have searched forum after forum to try and find out what is wrong. I can see the application on my curve from Appworld and from options/applications/Ad-ons. However is is not visible on the phone in downloads or applications. I have un-installed and re installed numerous times.

  • Cannot get Blackberry Bridge to work

    Hello,
    I have a PlayBook running OS Version 2.0.1.358 and a Curve 8520.
I have installed BlackBerry Bridge but the devices will not connect.  It sometimes does get as far as presenting the verification numbers (does this number match on your Playbook?).  I confirm that they do but then a message appears indicating the devices cannot connect.  Sometimes it does not get that far and the message is could not connect to the Computer or could not connect to the Playbook.
Afterwards the PlayBook does appear in the BlackBerry bridge on the phone and is set to Automatically Connect.  Trying to connect does not work.
"No Connected Devices" appears on the PlayBook's, Bluetooth pop-up.
I have tried using both the QR code and the manual setup.
I believe I did have it working the first time I tried but it stopped.  I have done a security wipe of the PlayBook to try to start fresh but that has not worked.
If it matters, my phone is a provided by my employeer and is connected to my work e-mail account.  We use HotMail.

Well, I'm replying to my own post but I did get the two devices connected.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the BlackBerry Bridge software on the phone.  I had not tried this yet.  When I then tried to reconnect it didn't work at first but a second try did work and now my e-mails and other stuff from Outlook are appearing on the PlayBook.   Yeah!

  • Problem accessing files via Blackberry Bridge

Not sure if anyone is having this issue....I've got the blackberry bridge installed, and I can access my messages, contacts, etc.  However if I go into the Bridge Files menu, I am unable to open anything.  I tap it and it just does nothing.  If I go into the sheet to go app on the Playbook, I am able to access my files off my blackberry, however every single one opens up read only (which kinda defeats the purpose)
Any ideas?  Is there a setting I am missing?
