BBM Chat History Gone

Hi,
I have recently bought a Blackberry Curve and have been using bbm on it, but I have noticed that some of my chat history goes away as I use it more, and I don't know how to view it. My chat history is saved on the media card, but I can't view it on the phone. Are the earlier messages gone forever? Some were very important and I cannot find them. Please reply soon.

BBM™ chat history is saved on the media card and not the backup IPD file. In BBM press the Menu>Options and scroll down to Save Chat History and choose media card.

No, not wirelessly without backing up to the PC.
You will need the BlackBerry Desktop Software to do that.

Protect bbm chat history from being deleted

Hi Guys
I'm still new here, plz help me, is it possible for me to stop the bbm chat history on a Blackberry from being deleted? Maybe set a password before deletion will take place?

There is no such option of setting password for deletion. You can check the below KB article for checking memory leak -

Please help bbm chat history

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping you can help me. I have been having a conversation with one of my messenger contacts and wanted to check something that was mentioned earlier in the day but was unable to do so. I have history turned on and set to save to my device. I checked the chat history and one part of my conversation seems to be missing whilst the rest is there...this is only the case for this contact as I have full histories for all other contacts. Please can somebody help me with this!

2. Can saved BBM chat history be transferred, let's say, as a text file, for archiving and searching by some other means / on some other platform?
2.a. I understand that one can "email a BBM chat", but only a handful of the latest lines of a chat are incorporated into an email - not useful if one is looking to copy older excerpts?
2.b. Where is BBM chat history saved? Device? SD card? Is there a directory path that we can follow to access the history?
3. What is the purpose of saving all of this history if it cannot be efficiently accessed / searched / archived / used?

I was wondering if its possible to save the bbm chat history on the Z10. If so can anyone tell me how to. Also is it possible to view the history on the device

Recover bbm chat history

hi
i m using Blackberry Curve 9380.
i wish to recover my complete bbm chat history which i accidentally deleted while trying to delete a particular contact history.
let me tell you what exactly happened.
1) opened a particular contact chat window
2) pressed BB Menu and scrolled up to press"view chat history"
4) pressed BB menu and that's here where you get two options a) delete contact history and b) delete complete history.
so i accidentally selected "delete complete history" which erased my entire saved chat history with all contacts.
i wish to recover and view all of them in original format, what i mean by saying original is, after recovery i wish to view them all in bbm just as we normally view chats in bbm as i also want to capture some screenshots of particular chats which are very important in nature, as they happen to be associated with my business clients.
although i have chats saved in media card in .csv formal which is viewable in excel, but i dont wish to view them in excel format. i wish to view them in bbm.
is there a way how i can do that. is there a way to view chats in bbm that are saved as excel files. Please help as it is very important. advice me on any particular application or software available to view bbm chats as we see them bbm.

If you deleted the history it can not be restored in BBM. The saved chats you do have can be viewed in CSV format but it will not be viewable in BBM.

BBM Chat History

I know I can save the chat history for bbm, but where do I find the saved chats and where do I specify where to save them?
Also, I can end chat but when the contact sends me a message the entire thread returns.
How do I clear a chat? Text messages have this option.

BBM Chat History stopped saving for a particular contact - Help!!!

Somebody please help me, for some reason the chat history for ONE contact ONLY has stopped saving the chat history since 26th March 2012 but I have done nothing??? If I search a word in a chat since then, it comes up but says 26th March but it wasnt it was yesterday? Any ideas anyone?

To resolve this issue with your BlackBerry® Messenger chat history for this contact, try deleting the contact and then re-add the contact and test with new messages.

Transfer BBM Chats to new Device

Hi,
I am trying to transfer my BBM Chat History from my old Z10 to a new Classic. I have followed every resource I can find, especially from CrackBerry. No Luck.
I have backed up my BBM chat history fromthe Z10, but can't restore it onto my Classic.
Please help. I have chats that I really cherish and want to transfer onto my new Classic.
I didn't expect to have a "classic" phone issue where every time we transfer something we lose all text/contacts/information. If text messages can get transfered, why can't BBM chat history?

BBM for BlackBerry 10, Android, iOS and Windows Phone does not support transferring individual BBM chat history between devices. The only conversations that transfer when switching devices are BBM Group conversations.
BBM for BlackBerry OS does save the individual chat history to the device memory which can be found at /home/user/im/BlackBerry Messenger/history/
BBM for BlackBerry 10, Android, iOS and Windows Phone does not save the BBM chat history is a accessible location.

Deleted chat history

Can I retrieve deleted bbm chat history when save history was enabled. I tried going to filers folders. Clicked on I'm but the contacts pin is not showing. Is there any other way that I can retrieve these chats. Please help. Urgent

Do you have a backup file containing the chat history? If not, once you have deleted the BBM chat history, it cannot be retrieved. Let me know if you have any other questions.

BBM - No option to save chat history on Bold 9900

I have the Bold 9900 and upgraded the software to 7.0.0.579 as well. I have the latest version of BBM but I don't have the option of saving chat history. This option is just missing from the list. I have asked my friends who own this same BB but they have this option on BBM. Help this is very annoying.

Here are my privacy settings again. My formatting in the original question did not hold:
Use custom settings for history
Always use private browsing mode - unchecked
Remember my browsing and download history - checked
Remember search and form history - checked
Accept cookies from sites - checked
Accept third-party cookies - unchecked
Keep until: I close Firefox
Clear history when Firefox closes - checked
The 'Exceptions' submenu has several domains set to "Allow" - these are the cookies I would like Firefox to keep on exit.
Settings for clearing History - In this submenu, 'Cookies' is unchecked. While this is unchecked, Firefox will not delete any cookies on exit, even though I have the 'Keep until I close Firefox" option enabled. But if I check this box, Firefox deletes all cookies on exit and ignores my Allowed Exceptions. This seeems to make no sense to me.

BBM 10 export chat history

Found how to save and turn on the chat history in my new BB10 BBM but how do i export the chat history? On my old 9800 it saved the chat history as a csv file and I just grabbed it off the device card.

this is not the answer, so, so called 'Chat History' is only what appeared on screen?
and since you said bbm chat can not be accessed through the media card or device memory? then what's the point bbm have option to "Save Chat History"? where did bbm save the history? on screen? comeeeee oooooonnnnnnnn....

Q10 BBM - Email Chat History

Since using Q10 some months back, I have noticed that when I try to email bbm chat, the chat history that appears in the email does not fully cover the chat history period.
Say, I have a chat history from 1st March till 18th March and if I select 'email chat', the email will only show chat history (without timestamp) of messages between 17th and 18th March only. I cant seem to include the chat history (though visible within BBM) that goes beyong 17th.
Anyone know the workaround to this?

My Z10 has been having problems with the email chat feature for a few months now at least. What I do now is just "copy chat" and paste it to a new email.

Copying a BBM chat on Z10

I know this may have been asked before, but I can't seem to find the answer.
I have a BBM chat on my phone which goes back a couple of months. I really want to back this up as I can't lose it. How can I copy the entire chat? When I select copy, it only copies the messages from the past day and not the entire chat.
Is there any way of copying the whole chat, or another way of backing it up so I can open it on my pc?

If you want to be able to view your chat history after you end a chat, you need to change your BBM options. Swipe down from the top of the screen of BBM app, Set the Save Chat History switch to On. BUT, they will restored ONLY if that BBM contact send you a new BBM message. If you didn't set history setting On, they are gone.
Also, you still can copy entire BBM chat. Open your chat, tap three dots at bottom right, select copy chat. A pop up message 'chat copied' appear. Paste it to your email. It will paste entire chat.

No button to view old chat history

For some reason there's not button "from the beginning" -- only up to 6 months (right now it's to 28th of April, I think), even though there are message that were sent in 30th of March, for example (I can see them only by keeping scrolling up a mouse wheel).
In one case I can't view old messages at all, because there were no messages after 28th of April (so I can't scroll back up to March). SkypeLogView and Skypious has found them, so my chat history is not deleted or corrupted.

Yes, I can scroll up after "6 months", but it stops when I scroll up to the 1st of April (but in one chat it still has shown message from 30th of March (which is probably one of the oldest dates SkypeLogView and Skypious could find).
Could it be that 30th of March is not "old" enough date to make "from the beginning" button appear?
