BBM Group - Few members "Unreachable"

I need your help – I have set up a GROUP in BlackBerry Messenger amongst my friends, 1 in Dubai, 1 in China and others from India. There are totally 11 members in the group.
Of the 11 members, 9 members can see everyone but 2 of them can not see 5 members of the group and these members are shown as "Unreachable". We tried all possible solutions like setting up different groups by different persons but still these 5 members are shown as "Unreachable". The App Versions of those 2 members who can not see the other 5 members is 5.0.0.846 and 5.0.0.977 while the others have all different App Versions.
Do you know the reason why these 2 members can not view the 5 members ? Is it something related to App Version or any software issue ?
Waiting for an early response.
Thanks !

My 8520 is giving me the same problems after it was upgraded. Can someone please help? I can chat to the contact one-on-one, but dnt receive any messages from her that she posts on the group.

  • Only Shows 2 members in BBM Group of 22

    Hi There
I've been added to a BBM group of 22 members, but I cannot see any other members but the person that added me (the creator) and myself.  It only shows 2 members are in my group.  I also only get the messages that the creator has posted in the group.  The creator can only see all 22 members.
I have deleted the group then asked one of the other members to add me, it still shows only two members being the person that added me and myself.
    Please help :/

Ask that person to DELETE you from the Group.
Reboot your BlackBerry... With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now, ask that friend to give you a reinvite.

  • Bbm group message problem

Hi, I am new to this forum so please excuse me if some of my questions seem odd.  I have two questions about using bbm groups.  A group previously set up and used frequently for past year or so now no longer is working.
Specifically, when I go to the group I show up as 'available and there is an icon of a key next to my name. The other members of the group show up as 'unreachable' and when I highlight each individual the message is 'you are disconnected from John in this group'.  Each of the other individuals are able to chat amonst each other but can't connect to me.
Each of the other members have been re-invited and have accepted the invite but I get the same error.  Any thoughts and help would be appreciated?  Also is there a list of the various icons that blackberry displays anywhere to be found?

The 'key' icon indicates you are an Administrator of the Group.
You need to assign another member as an Administrator of the group, and then you leave the group, Wait a couple of hours or more, and have the remaining Admin re-invite you to the Group.

  • BBM Group lists Bug

I have found 1 issue a lot "syncing" We have some group lists which are accessed by all the members. Now the list items updated by 1 member takes ages to update at global level and sometimes they doesn't even sync. Is there a solution to this issue so that all members can actually share the same info.
Also when a member reinstall BBM, groups lists doesn't restore completely.

I've seen similar issues, and of late several people have been reporting some delayed syncing and sending of BBM messages.
I don't know what to offer you other than to wait... adding a new member can take a while, even a few hours, for all the group content to sync.

  • Bbm groups on z10, remember list filter settings

I use BBM groups to manage a shared grocery list. I want to leave the filter to "incomplete" and grouped by "category". But every time I open the list it defaults to "all" and group by "none".
Really frustrating. Please resolve so it remembers those setting like os7 did.

From what I understand, this issue has not been escalated to BlackBerry support or marketing or programmers, I've been asking a few senior members to take this initiative, so perhaps you can please !!
As other BB members continue to mention throughout these forums, the "Groups" field or ("Categories" in Outlook) has been included in Pre OS10 BlackBerrys since as far back as I can remember. Please tell me that somebody at BlackBerry HQ has been made aware of the importance for this business feature !!?? Not only is it missing,  there's actually a bug...whenever I access or edit a contact from my Z10, and I have 1200 contacts, it actually pulls it out from it's respective "Category" in my MS Outlook and recategorises is it as "None".  Definitely not cool nor acceptable as this creates even more work, not less.
Suggest you keek posting, poking, suggesting until you to get the attention of someone at BB that can make this wrong a right !!

  • Z10 BBM Group not functioning

I'm hoping that this gets fixed when 10.1 comes out, but in the meantime...
There are two other family members with blackberries, so we figured we'd set up a family bbm group to communicate easier. Except, I can't join the group we made. We've tried both getting my phone to join an existing group (which I never seem to recieve the invite for) and creating a new group (where the phone tells me I've reached my maximum amount of bbm groups...but I have no groups, at all)
BBM seems to be buggy in general for me, ranging from being extremely slow when being accessed directly from the app (not from the hub), and alerting to an update when there is nothing listed in the 'update' tab. It has also stretched the screen in the hub when I tried switching to landscape (though it fixed itself within a couple seconds).
Can anyone give me a suggestion on what to do? Please let me know if I'm missing crucial information.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am sure 10.1 upgrade can fix it. While waiting for it, I have solved my issue by joining the BBM Channel Beta Program! That upgrades my BBM client and it works smoothly since then.

  • No photo preview in BBM Group??

When a photo is sent to the BBM group, it is not showing up within the dialogue.  I can only see the photo by backing out and going to the "Updates".  On my Torch the pictures would show up within the dialogue.  One of the group members with a Z10 says he sees received pictures within the group dialogue.  Any assistance with this issue on my Z10 would be greatly appreciated.

Still trying to figure this out.  Thought the new update might help but alas it did not.  Anyone have an answer.
    Thanks!

  • BBM Group Chat Message Retrieval - Help Make a Mother's Day!

    Hey folks,
I recently returned from a trip abroad and while away I sent to my family various messages to a little BBM Group my younger sister help set up of what I had done the previous days. For some reason that remains to be seen, the default setting on BBM Groups is keep messages for 3 days. Needless to say, there were a few messages that my mom really liked and wants to save, but she isn't technologically inclined and they have since disappeared from her phone.
Is there any way to get these messages back? Perhaps a phone restore to a few days ago or something? Or is there someone I can call at BB or my carrier (Rogers) to get them to retrieve it? Surely it's saved on a server somewhere.
My mom woke up this morning stressed beyond belief that she's lost one message I sent in particular (the one reflecting on the trip as a whole) and she would love to be able to save it.
Thanks, and to the mothers out there: have a happy mother's day!

  • BBM Group Chat Question

BBM group chat question - from time to time, additional chats show up in our group that have no messages in them. When someone posts in one, the whole group sees it and the admins can delete it, but otherwise they tend to be localized to one or two members and we can't remove them. Is there a way for a non-admin to get rid of one of these chats? My understanding is that if I had started it that I'd be able to delete it but since I'm not the creator I don't have this option. Thanks.

  • Redo Logs Groups and Members

    Hi -
I have a few questions regarding redo log groups and naming conventions I was hoping someone could address or point me to some docs.
I am multiplexing my control file and redo logs across HDDs for an XE installation.
The original logs created at install have the naming form of:
    O1_MF_1_462H1GK7_.LOG.
    1. What is behind the naming scheme (specifically the _462H1GK7_ section)?
    2. Is there a generally recognized naming scheme for adding new group members in XE?
    3. I noticed that with any XE install I have done, the redo logs groups default to Group 1 and Group 3, with no Group 2 to be found. Is this normal/required? If not, is it best to add group 2 and then remove group 3? I'm not sure if has much bearing here, but the 10gR2 docs state that skipping group numbers will consume space in the control files.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
    Scott

The odd-looking filename is from using Oracle Managed Files (OMF). You can override the naming scheme or create your own groups and members. Very common to include "redo" in the file name along with group and member identifiers. An example would be:
    <path>/redo01a.log
    <path>/redo01b.log
    <path>/redo02a.log
    etc.
You can see group 01 has two members, a and b. Can also include the SID in the file name as well, but that can be identified via the path. 462H1GK7 is a unique identifier generated by Oracle. It has no meaning.
I don't know about XE not creating a group 2. Were there group 2 file(s) left over from a previous install (although the OMF probably would have ignored the existing files)? If creating the files manually, you can use "reuse" to use existing files.

  • BBM Groups - lost ability to be administrator when changing devices

My Bold's screen stopped working to I used an old loaner Curve that didn't support BBM Groups prior to moving into my Torch 9810 that I have now.  My BBM contacts followed me but my BBM groups did not.  I was able to get re-invited to these groups by others that were members of these groups but now the administrative is not possible as the BBM group still believes that those privledges still belong to my unuseable Bold.  I've learned my lesson and will allow at least one other group member to have administrative permissions for future groups to avoid this in the future but, for our current groups, does anyone know of a fix to allow for the administrative properties to be moved?  Thanks!

You create a new group (give another access as Admin), invite the other members.
    Delete the old group.

  • BBM Groups Issue

I need some help with a problem I've been having since the weekend - I was kicked out of a BBM group of 18 members on Sunday night after I re-invited a friend who had also been kicked out. I contacted one of the admins yesterday to re-invite me, and he said that I was still on his list of active members and therefore can't re-invite me, and his attempts to remove me were unsuccessful (apparently this happens all the time). So now I'm a member of a group I can't see, read or participate in and can't get back into. Does anyone have any advice on what else we may need to do? I've already tried uninstalling BBM and it didn't work. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If he, the Admin, can't remove you (so that he can re-invite you) then you're stuck for now. Give it a day and see if you do drop from the group so he can reinvite you.
Or, then, maybe let him remove you as a BBM contact, THEN try clicking on your name in the Group Members' list so that it will re-establish a connection with you. He'll either get a "You're not connected with the member" message or a "reinvite to group" message.

  • BBM Groups - conversations in group chats are always missing!

Hi, I'm a relatively new BB user.  I belong to 2 BBM groups.  All the group members are my contacts.  In every single BBM group chat I miss parts of the conversation.  It is very random what I miss and how much I miss.  I can't follow the chat generally there is that much missing.  There isn't a pattern, ie somedays I can see say contact x and y and the next day x and z.  The chat never catches up, ie the missing conversation text never comes through hours later.  I own a curve 8520 and my BBM group chat screen looks different to all my friends, they have later version BBs.  I have version 5.0 software.  I did an update for BBM via appworld, removed battery, left the groups, have been re-added and still no luck.  I have no problem ever with regular BBM chat one-on-one with any of my contacts, only group conversations.  My service provider have been no help despite multiple phone calls.  Any ideas?

Send /get name chat command to this particular group chat.
If the returned name starts with #name, then this group chat is the old P2P group.
If the returned name starts with 19: then this group is the new Cloud based group.

  • I'm "invisible" to others in BBM groups

I have a Curve 9360.  I've had this problem for about two weeks now.  I am involved in 5 BBM groups, and only 6 of the 12 people in those groups can see what I say or what pictures I post.   I can message the person directly and they can read it, but in groups I am invisible to about half of the people.  I have tried pulling the battery, making new groups, leaving all of the groups and pulling the battery then being re-invited, and nothing has worked.  I tried to delete the application all together and re-install it, but it deleting the BBM app seems to be blocked.
Any suggestions?  This phone is two months old with no water damage.

We are having the same problem... we have a group with about 8 member... and some people cant see posts from others. We have recreated the group many times, deleted and added members and it keeps changing who cant see who, sometime 1 group members posts cant be see by 2 other. It seems to change who can see whos posts. some members can be seen by all... strange!! what is the solution BB?

  • Help with BBM Groups

    Hello all,
My question pertains to BBM groups which isn't specific to either BlackBerry 10 nor BlackBerry 7 and earlier, and I was not sure which one forum location would be appropriate for this question, so I opted to post it to the Downloaded Software section in both the BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry 7 and earlier spaces.  My appologies if this was not "the right way to do it".
My question is one that I also posted on CrackBerry.com forums but after some time it seems I may stumped the community over there with this one.
Here is what I wrote over there:
"I recently created two BBM Groups and posted them here on CrackBerry with minor fuss. Yay for me. In each forum post I included a QR Code / Bar code of each BBM Group so as to make them easier to join. Yay for me again.
What I realised thereafter was that though this makes joining easy for anyone reading the posts from a screen other than their BlackBerrys, it does NOT make it easy for someone actually reading the thread from their BlackBerry and thinking to themselves "Oh hey, I want to join that group". At least, not that I can tell. I don't think it's possible to scan a QR code on your BlackBerry screen from the same BlackBerry, right? That's my assumption. If someone knows otherwise, please let me know, that would solve my issue.
SO, if I am right in my assumption and one cannot scan a QR / Bar code from one's own BlackBerry when said code appears on the BlackBerry's own screen, I am looking for another way to make it easy for someone reading the post to just "tap or click here" to join the group, to make as easy for someone who would be scanning the QR / Bar code from another source.
I tried getting the text URL for the group from the code and pasting it into a thread, but when it comes up in the CrackBerry app on the BlackBerry, the link is not clickable / tappable. I then tried adding the CrackBerry post editor tool's "Link" too to make the URL text an actual URL, though the only effect that had was that the URL appears clickable / tappable in the BlackBerry's CrackBerry app, but tapping / clicking on it has no effect. After making this change I tried to view the same thread post in my browser both on computer and on the Z10. When I click it DOES react but on the Z10 browser I just get a message "Unable to open bbg:<yadda yadda>".
So I've shared a lot of detail but the point I am really focused on is "is there a way for BlackBerry users to be able to join my BBM Group, on their own, as easily as if they had scanned the bar code, when all they have access to is the phone itself, and no outside media from which to scan the code"?
I am trying to avoid things like "Send me your PIN" and such because that just creates so many more steps and acts as a barrier to entry. Similarly, I don't see myself telling the reader "Just take this bar code you see here, and arrange to print or display it somewhere other than on your BlackBerry screen and then scan it".
Any input on this would be most appreciated!"
Essentially, I'd like to be able to post something that a BlackBerry user can look at on their BlackBerry, and tap / click on it, and boom they're done (i.e. they are at the same place they would be if they had instead just scanned the QR code).

I think there is a case for it. With any luck someone from BlackBerry will see the suggestion and will pass it along.
If you want to thank someone for their comment, do so by clicking the Thumbs Up icon.
