Bbm messenger on playbook

I love my playbook and it work great but ever since the first software update i can no longer enlarge my bbn contacts photo. And the functionality of the bbm messenger is not as good as on the phone like saving photos sent to me by my contacts.
I am posting this to see if someone knows how to get this info to rims developers so they can rectify these problems

    At this time you need a BlackBerry phone paired to your PlayBook to use BBM. Hopefully at somepoint in the future BBM will come to the PlayBook as a native app without needing a BlackBerry phone.
    You can pair your friends phone to your tablet, but it will use their contact list. It just mirrors whatever is on their phone - email, address book, BBM contacts, etc... You will not be able to create your own BBM list using their phone.

    i have blackberry 9780 work on the latest OS, Blackberry bridge 1.0.0.83, BBM 6, and i still cannot use my BBM on my playbook. i already try to delete the bridge on my BB 9780 and reinstall it again and again, i still can't do the bbm right. it always shows blank screen when i tried to load it on my playbook.
    well i tried to use my friend Blackberry the same 9780 OS and BBM, well it works well....
    i also tried Blackberry 9700 with OS 6 and BBM 6 it also do the white screen on my playbook
    does this mean that playbook only work on certain blackberry only?

    You have the latest software versions.
    Try deleting the bluetooth connection between the 
    2 devices, and reboot both devices.
    Try repairing the devices, this worked for me.  
    Are you doing this as a BES, u may have an IT policy in place
    that needs to be removed.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Given what you state, you are still using your home carrier SIM and are attempting to use your services via an International Roaming plan provided by your home carrier. Such can be challenging for some carriers to properly configure...I had two "failed" international trips before my prior carrier could properly configure my international roaming.
    The challenge is that the configuration that your home carrier must do must be done while your BB is actually on your home carrier network; changes to the configuration cannot be done while you are actually roaming. To make this even more challenging, testing of the configuration cannot happen until you travel and attempt to use it.
    This creates a great challenge -- if they configure it incorrectly before you leave your home network, and the testing fails when you travel, then they (your home carrier) typically can do nothing about it until your device returns to your home carrier network. (Hence those two "failed" trips of mine that I mentioned earlier.)
    As far as I understand, your only option is to wait until you return home and then talk to your home carrier again, letting them know what happened, and hope that they can fix it for your next trip.

  • BBM messenger conversation dissapear!

    When I have several conversations in the BB messenger with contacts, and some conversations disappear after a couple of days.
    Why are they being erased? I never erased them.

    I don't believe you can store these conversations forever in BBM. If you want to maintain a history, in the conversation press menu/blackberry button and "copy history". You can go and paste it into notes/memo after that.
    It may be getting deleted if you are running low on memory. Check Options>Status for your "file free" value. Keep that above 15000000 bytes as much as possible. Doing a Battery Pull helps as well:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
    This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
    A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

    There is no official update on this. But there is a rumor that with BB10 OS for PlayBook MIGHT hake that happen.
    Whats App andriod app ported to BlackBerry PlayBook is available and it works quite well. I'm afraid I can't comment of group chat feature.

  • BBM crashes in Playbook after OS2 install.

    Hello,
    I upgraded two Playbooks to OS2, one has no real issues. (other than a longer boot time.) The second has problems with BBM.
    When you open the bridged BBM it starts to open but immediately crashes. I have tried resetting the phone (which has the new bridge.) and Playbook but the issue persists.
    Has anyone else experienced this or have a fix?

    It took me over an hour and 2 BB's to figure this out for a user at my company.  It didn't seem to be Playbook related as other BB's worked on that particular Playbook without issues.
    I migrated the users data over to a new BB and found that it had the same issues!  Lates OS, latest version of BBM and Bridge.
    The only thing I could think of is that it's something in the users data.  I looked at the list of BBM Contacts this user had and found  a number of entries with really odd characters.  Stuff like "_~@Princess@~_" but with even stranger characters not in the english alphabet.  On the BB, I edited these contacts profiles and changed their display names to something plain text and re-tested.  It worked!
    I presume these fonts/characters that the Playbook can't display is what is causing the BBM crashing.

    After upgrading to version 7 of BBM my BBM is sitting there not registering. I have uninstalled it 20 times and am royally pissed. Help!

    I have just to day upgraded to the latest version of BBM, I have received from multiple people that they are again receiving old BBM messages which I sent to them previously.
    This to me indicates a very serious bug with latest BBM.

    I had same issue all old broadcasts were sent again as I switch off and on my bb better to install the previous version 6.1.0.49 make sure it is suitable for ur OS that will solve it
