BBM on 2 different smartphones

I have 1 bbm username and ID set up for 2 different phones, both 9900`s. Since i updated BBM to enable voice, i can only use 1 device at a time for BBM, the screen says "another device with the same username/ ID is registered, do you want to switch devices" we are unable to send BBM messages to each other. Can anyone advise please.

Welcome to the forums.
With BlackBerry Messenger 7.0, your BlackBerry Messenger contacts, profile, and groups are automatically backed up over the wireless network based on your BlackBerry ID. What this means is that if you use your BlackBerry ID on a device your BlackBerry Messenger information will be transferred to that device. The only way to get around this is to create a new BlackBerry ID for your second device and then manually input the BlackBerry Messenger contacts.

BBM accounts - 2 different phones

I recently updated my husbands BBM account on his Bold 9900 phone. When he logged in to BBM thereafer it became the same as mine (with all my info). I have a BB torch 9800. We both use the same email address and have had separate profiles for BBM for several years. Now they are as one. I let him have the use of the BBM on his phone and now I have nothing.... Is there any way to remedy this?

This newer version of BBM integrates with our BlackBerry ID, You're having this issue because you and your husband are sharing the same BlackBerry ID. So to resolve your issue one of you have to wipe your device and have to use a new BlackBerry ID. First do a backup and then use a new BlackBerry ID on any one's device , refer to this Kb for help :
KB26694 : How to change the BlackBerry ID on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry smartphone.
But if you're unwilling to change to wipe your device then you have only one solution , and that is on one of your device you have to Delete BBM7 and install any previous version like BBM6.2 . To do that first On your Homescreen Go to Options > Device Application Management > Locate and delete BlackBerry Messenger from there.
After deleting do a Battery Pull Restart like this device POWERED ON remove the battery wait a min. then re-insert it back . After reboot from your BlackBerry Browser browse to or Click here http://mobileapps.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=bbm6
The choice is your's so try it and let us know.
Click " Like " if you want to Thank someone.

Bridge and BBM

Hi, Thinking about getting a BB Playbook and was just wondering do I have to have a blackberry smartphone paired with bridge to the tablet to get bbm or can I get bbm without a blackberry smartphone and without bridge?

Hi, the PlayBook is a great little tablet, however, to utilize BBM and SMS on it, you do need to have it bridged to a BlackBerry handset. BBM is an exclusive messenger service for BlackBerry users and you would need a specific BlackBerry data plan to use it. However, don't close your mind to the possibility of getting a BlackBerry in the future.

Can I bridge an android smartphone with my blackberry tablet rather than a blackberry device?

My employer is requiring me to move from a blackberry Storm to a different smartphone. I have a choice between an android and an iPhone, and would,do prefer the android Can it be paired to the playbook like the Storm currently is, and if so, how?

You can't bridge it like your Storm, but many Androids let you turn them into wifi hotspots so you can at least access the net from your PB. You may want to check your data plan though. Most handsets can also function as a modem via bluetooth. Finally, for a stopgap alternative to Bridge Files, there are Android apps that are mini webservers so you can get access to the files on your handset from your PB's browser. For that to work you'd need a wifi hotspot.
In short, while you can find Android solutions to do most of the Bridge functions, none are as seamless or integrated as Bridge.

Update bbm fail

i went into my app world and updated my bbm i restarted it and when i turned it back on went into bbm their was this blue screen
first it said wellcome to bbm
secound it told me cheacking ure blackberry ID
thirid it said setting up bbm
forth it said cannot set up bbm a temporary bbm server error has occurred retry
i tried to delete bbm and reinstall it but the same thing comes up
what to do to get it back to normall ?

BBerry Bridge connected but icons still shaded and no BBM app no longer on Playbook???

My Bridge says that it is connected but all the icons are still shaded....why? Also when it does all work i cannot get my emails up in screen.
Also my BBM app has disapeared, has anyone had this problem? And i cant find the app on App World to reload!!!

Make sure you have the latet Bridge and BBM installed on your smartphone. If your apps are up-to-date and you are still having problems, try to delete the paring on both devices and re-pair.
I this fails, uninstall the Bridge on the handset and then re-install and re-pair affer a battery pull.

BB Backup access AFTER switching to new phone?

Hello -- I had a BB Curve from 2008-2011. Yes, I switched to a different smartphone. I have need for access to some of the info that was backed up from my BB during 2010. Is it possible for me to get to this? I was using the Desktop BB software at the time, which has since been removed from my PC. Any thoughts/suggestions would be helpful!

There are a couple of options for extracting and viewing data from a the backup files.
1. The IPD Parse macro is designed to read a Blackberry IPD file and create reports in MSWord or MSExcel. It is free, and you can find out more here: https://sites.google.com/site/ipdparse/home
For .bbb backup files, use this macro to extract seven "primary" IPD files (Address Book, Calendar, SMS Messages, Tasks, Memos, PIN Messages and Phone Call Logs)

These IPD files can subsequently be used as inputs to the other macro, IPD Parse, to produce reports.

MP3 on 8520 Curve?

Hi, I'm a complete newbie to Blackberry devices. As I intended to buy me a 8520 I looked through the internet information on the Blackberry homepage and wondered why there is no mentioning of mp3-files to be listened to over the media player. I asked the technical support via email twice but they didn't seem to take my question seriously and simply either didn't answer or referred me to an knowledge base articlel that doesn't concern the 8520. I am honestly a bit dissappointed and am thinking of alternatively getting me a different smartphone until I found this place hoping that someone is able and willing to answer my question as to whether the BB 8520 can replay mp3-songs.

Natively, what you have received seems correct. I've no idea if there are any 3rd party players that are compatible with both that model as well as mp3 format.

I have had my Blackberry Curve since last spring and still do not find it user friendly. The online guide states how to make categories for the memo pad but stops there and does not explain how to save new memos within those categories. I go back and forth and cannot figure out how to do it. After pressing many buttons I finally manage to get it where it belongs but have no idea how and when I try adding another go through the same thing. I had a Palm previously; it was so easy, just make the cateogry, click on it and then click add new. Now I click on the category, then new memo and after that the entry goes into outer space somewhere because I cannot find it. Just clicking save does not work. Sometimes I can find the entire list of items in every category but cannot figure out how I did it because there is no actual option to do that. I often wish I had gone with a different smartphone but am locked in now for another 2+ years with basically a phone but nothing else. I am still using the smartphone part of my Palm for data, memos, etc., because it is so much easier to use; unfortunately I cannot get another battery for it so its use wll be gone when the battery does. .I wanted a smartphone so I just had to carry one device; now I am back to carrying two, a Palm PDA and a Blackberry phone. .

Actually I did get these replies in my e-mail, thanks. However, I did finally toss the Blackberry and got an iPhone. It is so much easier to use, right out of the box I was able to make calls whereas it took me some considerable time to figure out how to even do that with the BB. And the Memo section on it great, very easy to use, not to mention the other basic apps like calendar and contacts. Very user friendly. .

How can I get a better deal?

I've just finished a very unhappy conversation with Customer Support--Verizon STILL doesn't bundle data plans for families like other carriers do, I need a new phone (mine is 3 y.o.), but don't want to shell out another $30/month for another data plan, and don't want to get imprisoned in another two-year contract with this company. Terminating contract is now $250. I wish they would stop advertising so much about what a great deal they are, and start coming up with plans that families can use. If they're so great, why do they need to force people to stay with $250 penalties?

If your phone is 3 years old, then there is no ETF on it. If you want another phone without another $30 data plan, then get another simple feature phone. If you don't want to extend your contract for another 2 years, then purchase the phone at full retail price. If you have a $250 ETF, then it is on a different smartphone that was just purchased at a subsidized price less than 1 year ago, not your 3 year old phone.
An ETF is not a penalty, it is a way to re-coup the cost of that "subsidized" phone discount you got when you purchased your phone at less than 1/2 the actual retail price less than 1 year ago, and when you agreed to a 2 year contract on that phone (you did read your contract, right?). It is also a practice that every single carrier out there uses.

How do I manually push through the update??? Help please!

So....I have been missing calls randomly, not all the time, but enough to be annoyed. I called Verizon yesterday, who then had me reset the phone and take out the battery, all of which I have already done myself..The CSR had me check my hardware version, which reads I500.04. She stated I should be at I500.05. Either way I'm missing calls, but I would like to be at the most current update, otherwise they sound as though they are not going to help me in having the phone replaced, even with a same/like new model. I'm also pretty sure that there is a post out here with it, but MYLANTA are there a lot of posts, so if someone could be so kind as to help me out, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks much

and it will update for you

App scaling to screensizes on Android but not on iOS

Hi,
I am creating an app with AS3 for Android and also for iOS.
Due to the different smartphone sizes it is necessary to scale the apps to the appropriate screens. Developing for Android that seems to work OK.
The code I use for this on Android however does not work on iOS.
On iOS it seems that I can only scale the app to the width of the screen. The height of the app then scales proportionally to the width of the app. The rest of the length of the app is now outside the screen boundaries.
How can I scale to the app also to the different iOS screens?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Seriously...?

A month or two ago I pondered buying a different smartphone to replace my aging BlackBerry 8530. I realise I am on a discontinued plan ($44.99 for 450 mins. and $30 for data) and also that I can only activate specific smartphones with the account I have. Obviously, I looked at a phone that was eligible. Just to be careful, I didn't buy it right off, but instead phoned VZ to make sure I could do what I was planning. They said to get the ESN of the device and phone them again to confirm. I did that, and they said it's not an eligible device, even though it was in fact on the list of eligible devices. I asked why, and they said it's because my account is provisioned for BlackBerry data services and they told me if I were to swap to a new phone, it would have to be a BlackBerry.
One of my friends has an old BlackBerry of the same model. He let me try its ESN and again, VZ rejected it.
What the **** is going on?

That's it right there - pre-paid - the ability to swap devices at will on a PRE PAID plan doesn't follow the same rules as a regular, post-paid account, phones are not interchangeable from pre-paid to post-paid and vice versa. Also, being that the pre-paid options have changed, you will likely have to change to one of the current plans when you change devices.
This discussion may get more knowledgeable responses on the Pre-paid board where those with pre-paid accounts can better answer this....
