BBM playing up

Please help someone! My bbm is not working properly and I don't know how to fix it. I can send messages and the person I send them to can read them except I cannot receive messages and no "recent updates" come through...I've tried rebooting my phone but nothing seems to work. Please help!!!

iMessages only works on IOS 5.
If you friends have IOS 5 on their phones and they have a data connection then it will use iMessage.

I end up in a mess, changing I-Ds, etc. I have paid an IT company to sort  things out, with some success, but still I keep getting thiese messages. Surely iTunes should be less complex than this. I am not brilliant with IT, but not at all stupid. Any suggestions please?

  • Headphone trouble: No longer playing music through headphones

    Hey guys!
    I bought a used iPod touch several years ago just to have something to listen to music  that was easy to use.  It has worked fine for me until now.  I cannot get it to connect to my headphones.  Everything else on the iPod works fine: Apps, wi-fi, mail, photos, music, etc.  It even still plays music and sound through the speaker. But when I plug my headphones in nothing happens. It still just plays through the speaker.  I tried switching headphones to a new pair, tried plugging it into my cable to play through my car speakers, and even tried resetting everything.  Still nothing. It's like it no longer has headphone capability.  I'm thinking it might just be something internal...But any other ideas or tips would be helpful.  I'm trying to avoid buying a new one as long as possible since I just started a new job and am still trying to pay for school. But I am willing to try anything to get my music back.

    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • ERROR MESSAGE - The media being played is of an unsupported format...ERROR MESSAGE - HELP

    I recently download an app to watch movies on my phone from blackberrymovemachine.com.  I successfully downloaded this app and when I go to play movies it starts the download and then I get the error message: The media being played is of an unsupported format.  I have gotten this message too when trying to play some videos on you tube.  Any suggestions or help would be great?  Do I need to download another app to support this type of media?

    Now, that is for the native BB media player...if you are using this app you say you installed, then your query needs to be addressed to the app developer...

  • HELP... My Tour is playing a previously deleted MMS each time I end a call and I need it to stop.

    I accidentally played an MMS that was sent to me by a friend and now each time I end a call by pressing the red button, the message plays.  I deleted the MMS and I can not find the file anywhere on the device.
    Any ideas as to how I can get this to stop, it is really getting annoying.

    Delete the file from your media, music or ringtone
    Delete the MMS message from your MMS fodler.
    Reboot the device:  With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

  • Wma files getting error message the media being played is of an unsupported format

    I have tried many methods of moving wma files from my pc to my 8310.  Some work and others trigger the error message "the media being played is of an unsupported format"  Why some work and other don't is mysterious to me.

  • Z10 and BBM just not working!!!

    I have just recieved a Z10 that I am trialling for my company (currently we have 200 iPhones 4's)  and first impression is that its awesome! BUT I cannot use BBM whats so ever!
    I put my old BB ID in from when we had BB Storm 2 years ago but all I get is 'Restoring your BBM information' now I know that as a company we all had Storm 2's 3 years ago and moved to iPhone 4's when they were released.
    My issue is that it sems if you had an old version of BBM that this issue will happen, so if you take 200 existing BB users who want to use BBM again for communicating with colleagues I can see the iPhone 5 being the preferred handset if no one can use BBM!
    Please can someone tell me how the hell you resolve this, I have security wiped the handset 8 times today with no success!!!!
    If this is going to be an issue that until a fix is available I think BB will have a lot of people reviewing the phone who will decide its not for them.
    Please help I love this phone and I have to admit the iPhone 5 I would rather leave!

    Interesting...I'm not sure how your iPhone plays into this, since you used the BB ID from the Storm2...but if O2 says that the account attached to the Z10 definitely has no BIS, then that's not the issue.
    Does BBM work via WiFi? Did O2 look at anything else? After all, BBM remains part of the service plan for which you pay O2, so they should provide support, including escalation up to BlackBerry if necessary.
    Also, there have actually been widely various reports here as the carriers proceed with the necessary reconfigurations of their networks to accommodate both BB10 and prior devices. Some reported their carrier (I can't recall which) telling them that they must keep BIS in place until that network reconfiguration is complete. Others report their carrier saying that having BIS in place impedes things. And still others report services stopping, starting, stopping again and then starting again -- all for both BB10 and prior devices. Further still, folks report different answers from their carrier when they call back...it's a little crazy with the carriers, I fear.
    So, I think perhaps you need to pursue deeper with O2...as BBM should definitely work. And as that's part of your services from O2, they must take the responsibility for resolution.

  • Ringtones and BBM alerts not working

    Hi, I have created several custom ringtones and phone alerts on both mine and my husbands new BB 9320's . These were working just fine for the first few weeks but now the custom BBM alerts will not work on my phone but the custom ringtones do work.  Instead of the custom alert I've selected the alert sound for the normal profile is the one that sounds. However the custom alerts DO work for text messages ! Just not BBM !
    My husbands phone has the exact opposite problem, BBM alerts work, ringtones don't !
    The problem seems to have happened after I had installed some various Apps . So I uninstalled all those apps and I've done both a soft reboot and battery pull on each phone trying to fix this. I also deleted those contacts and their custom alert set-ups and re-added everything from scratch, rebooted again, still nothing. It's been like this for a few weeks now, I just can't figure it out .  Please help !

  • Video Doesnt play on Z10 device

    i have a video of specifications as below:
    1. Mp4 type
    2. Frame width 720 Frame height 1280.
    it doesnt play on Z10 device
    it palys on Ios,andriod devices.
    i have a very similar video with only change in frame width as 320.
    it plays well.
    what might be the issue, could anyone point out please? its a very urgent issue.

    Oh...that's a completely different situation than you started with...you said, up front, that "it doesnt play on Z10 device", which leads one to believe that it does not play at all. Now you say it plays partway before failing. That is a completely different situation. Thank you for clarifying that.
    However, I find nothing with "expectional error(1)" listed in the public KBs...are you sure that's the exact and complete error message? Perhaps you might have better luck searching:

    Then again, since it plays partway, that tells me that something went wrong with the encoding of the file that, for some reason, causes the Z10 player to fail where some other payers can handle the error in the file. I can't tell you what that error is, but you might try re-encoding the file and seeing if you can get it to play all the way through.

  • BlackBerry Z10 Error "The file cannot be played due to an unexpected error (10)"

    Hope someone can help this one, I received a voice note through BlackBerry Messenger, after downloading I tried to play it and the following message popped up, "The file cannot be played due to an unexpected error (10)".
    I received another file, 3GP format, tried to play it, same error pops up. I headed over to the music and video libraries, I could not see these 2 files. I connect my Z10 to the notebook and checked on my SD Card, I could see the files from were not named correctly e.g. VID 00001-20101226-1206 was named as VID 00001%20101226-1206 with the percentage symbol being the unusual thing I picked up. This was the case for both files.
    I then modified/remaned the files replacing the % with a - (dash) symbol. The files were now visible and able to play through the Z10. I think there is a problem with the way BBM files are being saved especially the naming convention might be having an error/bug.
    My OS release is 10.0.10.99, Version 10.0.10.738 with Build 455718. Is there a fix for this problem that is known? I checked but saw no posts where it was clearly addressed. Am I the only one experiencing this anomaly?
    I have restarted the device but this does not resolve. I have attached a screenshot of the error sequence also showing how the file is named upon saving to my media library.

    Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
    To find the root cause of this issue regarding the media not saving the file properly, we will need to gather logs from the BlackBerry Z10.
    I would highly suggest you contact your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry so we can get a case number created so we can get the logs.

    A quick review of this site will reveal thousands with similar situations as yours. But, you only cited 3 of the 4 required octets of any OS level, so it's rather impossible to know anything for sure based on your information. BB has released at least 3 more updates in the last few weeks, but the carriers remain in control of release to their customers, and some are slower than others to do so (but BB cannot control them). Further, there have been many reports of issues with the "official" methods of installing these updates.
    If you wish to jump ahead, you can use an AutoLoader to cleanly reload your current OS, load the even more current version, or fall back to whatever version you desire. The choice is yours.

  • How do I get youtube videos to play

    Hi I'm unable to play youtube videos on my phone. I get the message 'an error has occurred' I'm on the giffgaff network and its been suggested that it's because they can't send the service book for youtube. Is there a way around this please without messing with the youtube address/ link everytime I want to watch a video? I have downloaded the youtube icon but still nothing Thank you for your time

  • Error playing videos

    I recently downloaded a conversion program called Fast DVD Ripper to convert my DVDs into MP4 format. it seems to work fine, but after using Blackberry Desktop Manager to transfer the MP4 onto my phone, I get an error message "An error has occurred attempting to play media". Its a gray box with a blue square with an exclamation point, like any info note on this phone. The file is an MP4, so I'm a little lost as to why it won't play on my phone. I have the room on my memory card. And I've played an MP4 movie on this phone using a different converter in the past. The file is playable on my PC. Any help would be appreciated.

    When you say you used DTM to move the file to your BB, did you use USB tether (standard Windows drag n drop) or did you use the Media Manager component of DTM?
    If the former, then the conversion you did with your other software may not have been appropriate for your device display. See this KB:

    If the latter, then did you also ensure that the options inside of MM for optimizing for playback on your device were turned on? If not, then again your other software may not have converted it appropriate for your device.

  • BBM Delays

    Hello all
    For the last couple of days, my bb messenger has been playing up!
    If i send a message to another bbm user it can take some time to deliver (it wont be delivered instantly as before - takes anything from a couple of mins to an hour!)...sometimes i give the phone a helping hand i.e. rebooting or switching it on or off and this may help to get the message delivered to the other person.
    It also takes others some time to send messages to me as well. This has been happening for a few days now (since Monday). There have been odd occasions in the past where the message hasnt been delivered instantly but after rebooting the phone it has been delivered to the person I have sent the message too, but since Monday it pretty much happens to every message.
    Any ideas on how to fix or if there is a problem on bb's end?
    I have the bold 9700 if thats any help and am in the UK.
