BBM through Wi-Fi

I want to ask if i can get BBM service without payment to my operator but through wi-fi at home. My operator is Etisalat Misr, I also want to ask if there is an application that prevent my operator from connecting to the internet and let only wi-fi connection.

if we couldnt use BIS sevices such as BBm or messenger and push Email Via WIFi so whats the Advantage of wifi in BB smart phones Blackberry company should solve this proplem & make Wifi activate every single servise in BB i think if BB company do that all of BB users will be glad & iam the first One !

BBM isn't working through wifi

Before i went on holiday my bbm worked through my wifi. i turned off my network signal because we were abroud but i could still use bbm through the wifi at the house. Now we have come back, my phone connects to the wifi but bbm wont work through it. All my other apps that use the wifi work, just not bbm (please help soon, i get no signal at home)

BBM icon not on phone

Hi. I was using my messenger and my phone hung. i removed the battery and restarted my phone. on restarting, the bbm icon was missing and i'm unable to find it anywhere on the phone. i tried downloading it again but the option is not avialable as it is showing as installed. how do i solve this???

BB10 - Z10 BBM Server Activation Problem.. (UK)

Since 9.10 am on the 3/5/13
My BBM went down. I contacted 3 who I'm connected with and they reset all the settings on my account.
Then my phone rebooted.
After the reboot it will not log on to the BBM Server and now BBM is not available. But I still get messages in Notifications saying I'm being messaged but when I click on them it tries to activate bbm.
It was working fine yesterday. As anyone else had the same problem ?

BBM on Android or IOS will have PIN too?

Hi All,
Now that we know about BBM going cross platform, a question that arises in my head is :
- Will Android & IOS have BBM Pin or not?
If they will no have a pin and have to log into their BBM through their mail id, how will we add them?

PLAYBOOK WONT LOAD BBM

hi guys, trying to load BBM through bridge on PlayBook but it keeps telling me my version of BBM is old and needs updating. Yet on my phone( Bold 9900) it says I have the latest version. Help please!!! Thanks in advance

Locating lost phone where BBM PIN is till being used

Had a phone stolen and though I had cancelled all services but the new 'owner' is using the BBM through the same PIN number as I have just had a chat with him! I can see that I can dis-enable this, but cant find out how and if there is anything else I can do to prevent his use? Have looked on the site but cant seem to find a direct answer. The phone had a password.

Call T-Mobile and tell them to cancel your SIM card. That way, the new "owner" cannot rack up charges on your account. Next, ask them to cancel the phone's PIN. That way, he can't access any BlackBerry features that are under your name, such as BBM. Finally, ask them (ask, because not every carrier will do this) to cancel the phone's IMEI. That way, the phone will become nothing more than a paperweight. It's a shame every carrier won't cancel an IMEI but that's just the way it is.

BES vs BES/BIS Service - Restrictions?

I have a BB Curve 8900 and I have BIS service on it. I have friends and colleagues who have BES service on their BB Bold 9700. Company IT Policy restricts them from adding me on their BBM. They receive my invite and accept it but it goes into the void. I am also able to send them PIN msgs and they receive it but they can not reply to them.
My service provider provides a service called BES/BIS where both BES and BIS are provided. I have taken this now and still have the same problem as before. My question is, if my friends subscription is changed to BES/BIS will that allow them to communicate with me on the BBM through the BIS?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Nope. The level of data plan that one has only defines the level of services that can be made available. With BES, if an IT Policy restricts some of those services (e.g., BBM and PIN messaging), then those services are simply not available on that BB. So, changing plans will have no effect on this service being blocked by the IT Policy for as long as that IT Policy exists on the BB.

Wireless provider service book update

Hi all,
I have a new Blackberry Z10. I`m located in Bulgaria and when I try to use any BB related service I can`t. I called my Wireless provider and they told me that Blackberry will be updating the service books in the beginning of March, and until then I will not have any Blackberry Infrastructure dependent service. My question is: dose any of you know any time frame and also why when I remove my SIM and use only Wi-Fi I have full functionality.

We do not have a timeframe when each provider will be adding the BlackBerry 10 provisioning plans. With BlackBerry 10 you can use BBM through Wi-Fi and send and receive email without being connected to the Mobile Network.

Problem with OS 7.1

I have Curve 9380,I upgraded the OS through blackberry dekstop,everything seems to be fine till I found out I got a little problem with networking..
I can not use bbm through wi-fi anymore though I have the mobile BIS activated,which worked before on OS 7.0,and I can not open all the menus under manage connections panel such as "network and connections,service status,wi-fi network, and options"..all of them will be ended up with the hang state of the phone if I try to open them
I really hope if there is someone who can share to solve this problem..

There's no known issue concerning what you've said, as far as I know. Doing a battery pull should allow you to open your complete Manage Connections menu. To do a proper battery pull, remove your battery while your phone is powered on then replace it.

Everything going wrong!

I'll try to make this short and sweet.
My phone comes from South Africa but I am on a UK contract (T-Mobile), but the phone that came with the contract was a Nokia. Anyway my App World has never worked and my status is always on roaming - if I take it off roaming all services stop. So maybe it needs to be changed...
Anyway I managed to download new App World over the Internet and when I installed it it erased my BBM (along with all contacts, I assume). Anyway I tried EVERYTHING to get it back. Eventually thought to download it through the computer and desktop manager WHICH PREVIOUSLY WORKED FINE. Now, the PC isn't even detecting my BB and all things are on (media card support, mass storage mode etc) but PC does not find it, so now I cannot download BBM through that.
Even though I have new App World it still doesn't work - always telling me I need WiFi WHICH I DO HAVE and WHICH IS CONNECTED! So I can't get BBM through that either.
Oh yes, I also called my brother and he told me to security wipe my phone - so then I lost everything. I then did an update (of which there wasn't any updates...) but still nothing is working. I also took battery out whilst phone was on and tried to find BBM but to no avail...
Ugh!!! Please help! I need BBM because it's the only way I keep in contact with my family overseas!
I don't know what to do and have spent the whole day trying different things but NOTHING works...

Yeah, I've got the Bolt On; BBM worked before but it has disappeared since installing new App World. Unfortunately I can't d/l through App World and now the PC isn't finding my BB so that's the problem. I think I'll just have to go into a T-Mobile and get someone to look at it! Thanks for the suggestion though.

Using BBM after connecting through wifi?

I just arrived canada and i've connected my torch to a wpa personal wifi,,,, the browser works fine but my bbm is not working,, can anyone please tell what to do to connect the device to bbm ?

Yep, that'll certainly throw a crimp in your BIS data connection.
How could you have not happened to mention that at the outset?
Put the SIM card in and boot back up.
Allow the device to connect again with your network, roaming.
You should then be able to go to your Mobile Network settings and turn OFF the connection to your mobile network and use BBM and email, etc., through WiFi only.

I have recently tried sending pictures through BBM to other contacts with various BlackBerry devices. There seems to be a problem when trying to send pictures that I have saved on my memory card (Lexar 8GB MicroSD) that have been sourced from the internet (via the Mobile Browser). The pictures have been saved from websites such as wikipedia and facebook and I haven't been able to send any of the pictures over BBM. I also tried saving other pictures from the internet to my computer and transferring them onto my memory card with a USB cord and then trying to send the pictures with BBM; same result: they would not send.
There are two processes I have followed and they are detailed below:
1) Through BBM Chat Window
- Conversation window with contact is open
- Hit Menu Key > Send Picture
- Picture Selected
- Set Caption window displayed, caption selected. Press Send
- Select Image Size window displayed
- Image Size selected (I've tried selecting different image sizes with no change in result)
- Press OK
- Nothing happens, screen returns normal. No loading sign, nothing. Its like nothing ever happened
2) Through Media Browser
- Picture Selected in Browser
- Hit Menu Key > Send or Share > Send to Messenger Contact
- Dialogue Box appears: "Send File 'file name here' to Contact Name"
- Select OK
- Select Image Size window displayed
- Image Size Selected (I've tried selecting different image sizes with no change in result)
- Press OK
- Nothing happens, screen returns normal. No loading sign, nothing. Its like nothing ever happened
Also this ONLY happens when I'm trying to send pictures that have been saved from the internet (through mobile browser). Pictures that I have taken with the camera have always sent to contacts fine, please note that pictures from the camera are saved to the same memory card (Lexar 4GB MicroSD).

Sending video through BBM Z10

It's allowed only 5 to 7 seconds recording only which equal 6 MB to send it through BBM. ,, Why?? ,, and 5 seconds are not enough

Because your friends need a Z10 so you can simply do a video chat.
There has always been a limitation on the video file size in BBM, maybe just send them the video by email?

Pictures Through BBM

I recently bought a BB Curve and have the $29.99 unlimited data plan. I was wondering if it costs extra to send pictures through Blackberry Messenger? I'm pretty sure it costs extra to send them through texting, but wasn't sure about BBM.

Hi and welcome to the boards.
Anything done through Messenger, even sending pics, uses data and is covered by your unlimited plan. So no extra charges. It's the best thing about BlackBerry.
And you're right ... sending through MMS is an extra charge or counts against your text/pics/vids messaging package.
