BC 2.1 deletes Unsigned drivers, doesn't replace them.

Just thought I'd pass along my experiences. It would appear that the XP version of the 'new' BC 2.1 is the same as the one on the MacPro 2008 install disc. I had installed the Beta nVidia drives after running BC the first time. When I ran the new downloaded BC version (which is actually the same as my old version) the installer removed the Beta drivers and failed to replace them. For me, this meant that I booted to two of my three displays being black. The third display had the Windows screen, but, at the time, I had that display powered down.
Your first indication will be Windows reporting that it found a new VGA device. That's the device that the Apple installer deleted the drivers for. You should be able to just run the BC installer again and it should reinstalled the 'approved' version of the driver. Why it doesn't do this after removing the Unsigned driver, is a mystery to me... I'm guessing that you have to restart before reinstalling the 'new' driver after it deletes the existing one. A heads up about this would have been nice!

Run the newest one. For me, the XP downloadable version is the same as the one on my 2008 MacPro disc. YMMV. If you have Vista, you want the downloadable version.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Unsigned Drivers for Live! Cam Chat HD

I just bought this product today. When trying to install through the Creative Live! Cam Chat HD Starter Pack (Lite version), Windows 7 SP 1 sends up an error stating that the drivers are not signed and therefore cannot be used. After install, the live app does not see the camera. The Device driver notes that the following two drivers appear not to be signed:
    CtClsFlt.sys
    ksthunk.sys
    Any ideas?

Did you RTFM? Sorry couldn't resist. So firstly, don't plug the camera in until directed by the setup program. This is a general rule of thumb for any USB device. Also Are you logged in as an Administrator? just to make double sure right click the setup programs icon and click run as administrator. You could even disable UAC for a few minutes if that still didnt work. Also you should be able to install unsigned drivers no problem unless you are on a work system with a policy in place forbidding this ability. In which case you probably aren't an admin in the first place. If you are not comfortable with any of the options I described go find a school aged male and any one of them should get ya up and running in 5 mins ;-) Sorry couldn't resist again.

  • How do you close apps you hve looked at with the new software update?? You used to have to double click the home button and the apps would come up to delete bu that doesn't happen anymore.

The apps in the multitaskbar should appear like pages on the whole display. To close them, just swipe from the bottom to the top. you can select single apps for closing, when you swipe them like you would swipe your homescreens.

Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

  • My iMessages are automatically deleting and it doesn't alert me when I get a new message even though I haven't touched my notification settings..help?!?!

My iPod Touch 4th Gen was running very slow, so after reading a blog, I doings clicked my home button and pressed the red button to stop some apps from running. It made my iPod work relatively faster, but my iMessages didn't seem to be working in the same way as they used to. It no longer alerts me when I have a message, even though I haven't touched my notification settings and my messages are always being automatically deleted. It doesn't even show the number or messages in a red circle anymore, I just have to check my messages by clicking into iMessage instead...
This is really annoying me and I can't save old messages anymore or reply quickly to any! Please help!

Perform a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • Deleting Scanner Drivers

Hi - New to Mac, and I just downloaded the drivers for my old Epson 2450 photo scanner. The bundle contained drivers for four other Epson scanners and I ended up loading all five. Not that it's a big deal, but I like to keep as much junk off of my hard drives as possible. Question is: how can I find and delete the drivers for the four unneeded scanners?
    Thanks!

I had the exact same pet peeve. I finally resorted to using the Epson install/uninstall dmg file. I uninstalled all models then did a custom installation selecting only the 2450 model.
It took a couple of cycles of quiting applications, logging off and restarting my scanner before my mac finally recognized it and allowed me to go straight into the scan mode without first selecting a model type.

No. Apple won't do anything without a court order. Since it wasn't upgraded to iOS 7 before it was stolen then there's nothing you can do. You could file a police report with your serial number but there may be a small chance.

  • Find deleted printer drivers

Had a bit of a problem with my pc ... a software glitch , meaning i had to re install Leopard. In doing this , as i did not have room on my hard drive , i deleted Printer Drivers , Additional fonts and maybe something else. How can i get the Printer Drivers [2] back without having to reinstall them both again?

If you don't have enough room then try to install only the printer driver family you need instead of installing all of the printer drivers. If that's not going to work then you have to little free space on your hard drive which is a potential problem. You will need to delete files in your Home folder you no longer need or move them to an external hard drive. Long-term: replace the hard drive with a bigger one or start storing your files on external media.

If you are running Lion then all drivers are distributed through Software Update. You do not need to install anything, other than to install the printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan. If you already added the printer while it was connected using USB, you might want to delete it and set it up again wirelessly to avoid confusion. Or, give them two distinct names e.g. "Photosmart D110 (USB)" and "Photosmart D110 (wireless)".
All scanning functions are now performed using Preview, but you can also access the scanner through the same Print & Scan preference pane, or with Image Capture.
This HP document may help explain how driver software is distributed now:

  • Realtek Sound Drivers keep getting replaced by generic sound drives causing no sound

After sleep mode or rebooting I often find the sound not working.  When I check the in device manager the realtek drivers have been replaced by the generic Audio Device drivers and/or disabled or uninstalled. I have reloaded the realtek drivers, uninstalled the generic Audio Device on High Definition drivers, disabled the generic Audio Device on High Definition drivers, disabled automatic driver and software updates, erased  C:\Windows\inf\hdaudio.inf., as well as a few other fixes  etc. Some of these solutions would work for a bit then the problems would start again and after a few times the fix being used would not work and I would have to move on to a new fix, again with the same results. I am on a Satelliet A505-S6986 running windows 7 (64 bit).

Did the restore thing and still had to do all sorts of different install/unisntall reboots etc.  Seems that what works one day doesn't work the next.
I called support and the gentleman said it sounds like some sort of malware and asked me if i had any files on my hard drive I did not want to loose.  The reason for this  is that he wanted me to reinstall the operating system.  I am not ready for that yet and he did not seem to sure if it would work anyway.  He sugested calling level 3 support the next day and gave me a case number.  He also said it would cost me 14 or some odd dollars.  I am not adverse to paying that or more if I can get a PERMENANT fix on this'but the only guarantee is that they will fix the sound at the time of the call.
I am not adverse to backing up my files even if it will take a few hours,  Something I would have to plan on ahead of time along with doing the fix immediately after the backup.
If anyone has any ideas or thoguhts on a fix for this please advise.
    Thank you.

In the Kindle app, is there any way to delete books after i have read them?

Nevermind that first part as I forgot that nothing shows up for the Nano at all in Device Manager,
The 2nd half of my reply still applies:
Otherwise, try uninstalling all USB root controlllers from your system, rebooting your PC, and reconnecting your Nano. This root controller drivers will automatically be re-installed upon reboot.
