Bc and dreamweaver cs6 site import issues

- manage sites dialog,
- flash loader spinning, "Retrieving site definition..." endlessly.

Thanks Brad. It is happening only for the sites that aren't set up in the manager. the few that are (after a fresh os 10.6.8 install and a fresh cs6 install) are fine. The ones that aren't working are all the rest. So, about 4 that connect and show business catalyst as the "type" in the manager, 1 (my main rebraded partner site) that shows as type "dreamweaver" and then maybe 15 I can't import. The reason for the dreamweaver type is that I used the ftp creds to set it up so that I could use it rather thna letting dreamweaver sniff out the creds and serve up my login cred screen to tie it together. I only did that since I was desperate to edit. It's a workaround.
I spent a long time on chat yesterday with Adobe Support. Deleted prefs, deactivated dreamweaver, restarted, same issues. They filed a support ticket. I'll try to keep this updated if anyone else would like to know. As always, thanks for the help. - T

Dreamweaver CS6 Site setup and Site specific Code hints

I have just started using Dreamweaver CS6 and when I navigate to the server page in the site setup only the intro text is shown.... clicking my mouse around the window reveals the server table and buttons and I can proceed to set up a server.
I have several sites in there now but when I try to set up site specific code hints it shows and error saying that I need to add at least one site before I can continue.

Easiest way to solve this is to have you post a screenshot of your site definition where you define the testing/remote server. Please be sure to blur or remove any sensitive information from your screenshot before posting (ie: username, password, etc). We will assume you are able to connect to the remote and/or testing server. If not you should talk with your host about the remote server or you would need to post more information about your testing environment.

Business catalyst on dreamweaver cs6 for windows8 issues

Hello everyone.
I am having some problems whith my business catalyst panel in dreamweaver cs6 for windosw8.This is not the first time i have this issue.
The panel doesnt open wen i click the loggin button as you can see in this video here:http://screencast.com/t/EMaCoMdxQ ,and it has nothing to do whith my bc payed subscription because if i reinstall dreamweaver i know its going to work again whith all the trial modules and everything, cause i did it before.
Before i reinstalled dreamweaver and sometimes it opened and sometimes it didnt.
Is there a fix for this issue.My dreamweaver is the 12.0.something and yesterday i updated it.i also tryed in times before instaling the dreamweaver cs5 businesscatalyst plugin wich i downloaded at the adobe portal but it does nothing, i did this many times too and followed all the instructions step by step.It only works if i reinstall dreamweaver i guess.
Does anyone also has this issue on theyr dreamweaver cs6 12.0 for windows?

This does not work for me i keep getting "an FTP errror occured- cannot make connection to host" I have tried signing in the way the previous people suggested but to no avail. I have a paid creative cloud subscription. I am in Trinidad and Tobago. I am not sure that is an issue. I also connected succesfully to ftp://ftp.irs.gov using dreamweaver on adobe's the troubleshooting page. I was also successful connecting using cuteftp but when i connect to my businesscatalyst site...failure. hopefully i have made my plight clear.

Problem uploading templates with liquid layouts and dreamweaver cs6

I have developed some templates in Dreamweaver CS6 and Liquid Layouts
However when I want to preview them in a browser, they come out blank (No Data at all)
I have tried this without Liquid and works fine, minor bugs that can be fixed like background image not visible
It seems the problem its at the BC system

You should not be using Liquid in product sites, especially in templates since the whole liquid code breaks and does not render in several places.
DW has no features to support liquid rendering either yet.
It is something that is in Alpha.

Dreamweaver CS6 file update issue with template

I am working my way through Adobe's Dreamweaver CS6 Classroom in a Book on an iMac computer. I'm in Chapter 9 and have placed some button links in a webpage within the template. But when I go to update the about_us.html file from the template, the update indicates that it will only update files from Chapters 6 & 7. Thus I cannot update the Chapter 9 about_us file (or any other files in Chapter 9 I'm presuming). What can I do? I do not know how I can manually update the link html statements in the about_us file because they are greyed out (inactive, due to button region locking that was done in Chapter 7. I'm really stumped and blocked from continuing, so I sure could use some help. Thank you in advance!

It's hard to say what you could have missed, if Templates aren't done just right, things can go wrong fast.
I would go back to chapter 7 (the last point things seem to work correctly) and redo everything up to chapter 9 to make sure I didn't accidentally skip any steps. Pay particular attention to any step pertaining to creating new pages from templates or applying a template to an already existing page.

Jquery mobile 1.4 AND Dreamweaver cs6

There are two ways to do this:
Replace the jQuery Mobile files in the main Dreamweaver configuration folder. On Windows the location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS6\configuration\Third Party Source Code\jquery-mobile. On a Mac, it's a similar location in the Applications folder. You will need Administrator permissions to change the files.
If you don't want to change the files in the main configuration folder, open a blank page, and insert a jQuery Mobile page from the Insert panel or menu. This opens the following dialog box, which allows you to specify a custom location for the jQuery Mobile files (click the highlighted folder icons to choose the new folder(s)).

Phonegap and Dreamweaver CS6 doesn't work

Phonegap and Dreamweaver have never worked together for me. With CS5.5 I was never able to build anything with Phonegap and Dreamweaver. I was hoping that with CS6 and Adobe's aquistion that Phonegap might acually work with Dreamweaver, not so. Any time I try and build Phonegap with Dreamweaver CS6 I get the following error:

CS6 PSD Import Issue

DISCLAIMER: we are using PPro in what can be argued is an unorthodox manner.
The project requires importing numerous (200+) PSD files per episode. Each PSD file contains groups. When these PSDs are imported into PPro, grouped layers are 'ungrouped' and simply stacked as normal video layers on top of all the other layers (which were not in groups) from the PSD. Maintaining the structure of the PSD file upon import is imperative to the workflow.
Obviously, the editor could re-group (nest) the affected layers;however, this is prohibitive when taking into consideration the complexity of the PSD structures, the number of files as well as the project schedule.
**HOLD THAT THOUGHT**
Workaround!?
In order to make the WHOLE process more efficient, we decided to:
1. FIRST import ALL the PSD files into AE
2. Save the project as a PPro Project
3. Open that PPro project created by AE
...and VIOLA!!
All the PSD files are now in PPro with just a few clicks AND the PSD files have maintained their structure ( groups are respected and appear as nested sequences)!!
So what is the problem?
PPro shows most, but not all, of the media as offline. There is no pattern to what it decides is offline. The number of nests does not seem to be a factor. It simply appears as though there is some issue with how PPro is translating PSD groups into PPro nests.
Since rebuilding the desired structure of these files is a bigger task than relinking the offline layers, we opt for the latter. But this 'solution' requires someone (to be hired) to relink the offline layers - a task that on one episode took 3.5 hours. A bug? An oversight? A misplaced regular expression in the code (hopefully its that trivial)? Suggestions on alternate workflow within the Adobe lineup?

It's hard to understand what's going offline here. Does everything look okay in AE? If so, why don't you simply import the AE comp into PPro directly & drop the comp on the timeline? I'm not understanding what the extra step of saving it via AE as a PPro project buys you...

Can I edit my dreamweaver CS6 site in another html editor?

My client wants to be able to make minor updates to his website. I've built it in DW CS6. Can he update it KompoZer or some other free HTML editor? And will those changes also be made to his mobile site?

You may want to consider building the site(s) with a backend CMS (content management system) that the client can log-in to for editing. This requires no special software on his part. All he needs is an internet connection and a web browser so the site can be updated from virtually anywhere in the world. The other main advantage to providing him with a CMS is that the rest of the site cannot be messed up by the client since he will only have access to the pages you designate. Depending on your coding skills, requirements and budget, the following CMSs might be all you need.

Dreamweaver cs6 site selection list too long

I just noticed today that my site selection list in the file tab group was extending past the bottom of my screen, and I was not able to select one of the sites near the bottom of the list. When I hook up to dual monitors, and move dreamweaver to the second screen it does not extend past the bottom of the display, and I'm able to choose the ones near the bottom of the list.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and is there a work around for it? I'm working off of a laptop, and the dual monitor is not always an option for me.

Try to insert the embed code inside one of your <div> tags say the div-content tag after your <p>..</p> tags.
The embed code should work inside <div> ... </div> tags according to the layout defined there.

Question: PhoneGap Built and Dreamweaver CS6, Seperate builts ios and android (same app)

I use Dreamweaver and want to use PhoneGap build.
Can I have a seperate built for ios and for android? The android version has an extra field in the index.html, so I can't use the same html file for android. What is the best folder structure if I would like to do this? At the moment I have 2 seperate folders one for ios one for android. Each containing all the assets incl. config.xml and index.html. The config files are diferent, one is configured for android and the other for ios. Can I put both folders in the www folder? Or is that not the right way to go about. Information on the site is not so clear about it...

Lightroom 3 and external hard drive import issues

So here is my situation. I just came from a PC to a new MacBook Pro. Intially all my phots from over the years got imported into iPhoto. But I don't want to use iPhoto because I bought LR3. So I copied all my photos (manually) out of the iPhoto directory onto an external raid drive in my Photos directory there. But the problem is they are all in some wierd folder names now on the external drive. How can I import them all into LR3 and have them organized in folders by their creation dates? Right now LR just sees my external drive and all those weird folders but I have not imported anything yet into my library. Can this be done how i want it to look?
Also, I watched a tutorial on how to move my catalog file over to the external drive and I did that. Then today I went to import some photos for the first time off my card from my camera but they imported back on my internal drive LR catalog. I have the preferences set to point to the catalog on the external drive but they didn't import there.

In import Lr can organize the imported photos by date.
In the Import Dialog, on the right side in the DestinationPanel under <Organize> selcet <By Date>.
LR the creates a folder for each date and puts the photos in there.
I would not recommend to have the catalog on an external drive. The reason is that in order to speed up LR, the catalog should be on a fast internal drive. The connection to external drives is (usually) slower, particularly for USB drives. It might work if your external HD is an eData drive.
Also, the location of the catalog is not identical with the location of your photos. The catalog is the database where LR saves all the edits, and also the location of your image files, their names, and other things. This catalog should be on a fast drive; your images can be on an external drive (images and catalog do not have to be on the same drive!).
LR will put imported photos on the drives / folders that you specify in the Import Dialog - right side, panel <Destination>. This has nothing to do with the catalog. This is where your images are.
Reading you rmessage I get the feeling that you did not mean catalog in this sense but in the sense of "all my photos". Am I right?

Dreamweaver CS3 Site View issue

When I first connect to my main Website, the local root
folder appears for about 5 seconds. If I don't expand the view
immediately, it disappears and I have to hit the Refresh button to
get it to display. If I expand the folder, the site folders appear,
but the root folder immediately disappears. The biggest problems
with this are 1) I don't have a site folder to select when I want
to do a right-click Select Newer Local; and 2) I can't do a control
collapse to close all the folders in the site. This does not happen
with the Remote site root folder, it remains visible all the time.
Any idea whats going on?
