BC templates : Do they create DWT files?

Hi:
When I create a template in BC, are DWT files created? Where are they stored?
I thought I could download and edit the DWT file in Dreamweaver after creating the template in BC, but I don't see it anywhere.
Thanks,
Cam

Thanks tons Frisco. You've resolved a lot of issues for me.
For some reason the /dw was being stripped from my log-in and the template would revert to html.
I did experience that template within a template thing: that was a bugger.
This stuff also resolved issues I was having editing and saving files from the online Editor. I was told that there were invalid characters in the code that was causing it, but everything works fine now.
The BC site is www.samreesor.com
Thanks again for the fast help!

  • How to delete existing templates -- because they override DW files

    I can't figure out how to crreate a new BC site and delete all the existing template files.
    Some I can. Others override the Dreamweaver files that I try to upload.

    I didn't want any BC templates. And I don't have one in DW to replace BC default one with.
    The BC CSS Style sheet defintiely overrides DW style sheets. Here's what I'm talking about after I delete lots of BC CSS files:

    I can't delete this, this is from BC template:

    Hi Christoph,
    From the article you mentioned, it needs add JPG file type to Search Service Application, which was not supported for SharePoint online.
    I tried to add Picture content type to normal document library and tested the issue, it still displayed as item in Search results.
    However, if I created a Picture Library and add Document content type to it, both image and document can be previewed in search result.

  • Problem on editing template   .dwt file

    I have a problem with dreamweaver template.
    When I edit a template in dreamweaver, and apply changes to all the pages , it propogates on all pages and .dwt file also ,
    but all the design or layout or graphics of the pages  are gone and everything gets messed up.
    Why it happens when I am editing a tamplate ?

    The problem is your link to CSS file.  Template is incorrectly pointing to files on your local hard drive.
         <link rel="stylesheet" href="file:///C|/wamp/www/mm_health_nutr.css" type="text/css" />
    The link must point to your site folder like this:
         <link rel="stylesheet" href="../mm_health_nutr.css" type="text/css" />
    Edit template.  Save & populate changes to your child pages.

  • Basic question, how to create rtf template with a given xml file

    Hello guys
    I am new to BI publisher and I am learning how to create rtf templates using given xml fiel definitions by following the bi publisher guide
    The steps I am following is:
    1, create template using template builders, which is downloaded into MS words.
    2, In the empty template, map the xml columns with template field using BI publisher tag
    3, upload the template to BI Publisher as a layout.
    That's all I can understand.
    My question is:
    1,in which above step do I import XML file into template builder (if not bi publisher), how to do so?
    2,After template is created, how to associate this template layout with existing reports in BI Publisher, or is it necessary at all?
    3,In the template content in MS Word template builder, what should I enter other than BI publisher tags for mapping XML field to desired template field
    Or, if my understand of this process is entirely wrong, what's the right process of creating rtf template with a given XML file definition
    Thanks

    If you have a BI Publisher desktop installed, have a look a the demos,.. should answer most of your basic questions.
    (Windows) Start->Programs->Oracle BI Publisher Desktop->Demos
    Invoice Demo - good one for those with E-Business Suite

  • .HTML and .DWT files in folders have 0kb size

    Hey guys,
    I was just setting up a new client on the system and I have an issue with uploading HTML and DWT files through Dreamweaver.  The files end up on the server but each is a 0kb file.  Here are my steps:
    In Partner Portal I created a new site
    I chose to start with a blank slate/template
    I logged in via Dreamweaver CS5's BC Extension as I normally do and set the local directory of the project
    I was moving a static HTML site over to this site so the design and files were done already. So once the project was setup in DW I selected all the files in the project folder and uploaded them to the remote site via the Files panel in DW.
    The upload completed and did not note any errors or problems.
    I logged into the BC Admin and went to update some URLs of the pages and I noticed the first .html file in a folder had 0kb.
    I noticed that this problem only occurred in files that are uploaded to a folder. IE- I had a folder called "contact" and a file index.html inside.  I uploaded this folder and the rest via the Files panel in DW. I DID NOT create the folders through BC first.  The same thing happens with .DWT files too.  Although, in this case, since I had a "Templates" directory locally and I'm assuming one was created by BC on the remote host when I created the account it's probably not having to do with users creating folders through FTP/Files panel in DW.
    The .html files in the root of the site are fine. All my JS and CSS files in their folders are also fine.  It just seems to be .HTML and .DWT files in folders that have 0kb.
    Has anyone seen this?
    I have to get this site live in a rush tomorrow so I'm either going to delete the folders via FTP and create all the pages/folder first in BC and copy and paste the code over from DW to BC Admin area manually.  I'm not excited about doing that as it will add hours onto this site when moving a static site over should be pretty quick.  Now I have to create all the pages and templates manually.

    I can now confirm that the problem is related to DW or the DW FTP login session. I used WinSCP to FTP my files up and they went up fine.

  • Missing .dwt File

    This is the first time I have ever posted without searching first, but beg readers to understand I am working a little bit of a deadline here.
    Trying to finish up a site begun by a departing developer who built primarily in dreamweaver (i build primarily in vs or textpad...)...
    Finding multiple files where the body is built ontop of a template .dwt file; but the original .dwt file is missing.
    For example, .asp file carries line...
    <!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/FileName.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="False"  -->
    ...but review of the directory [Templates] finds nothing named [FileName.dwt]...
    Have learned how to detach these files from the missing template but 2 questions...
    1. Why isn't Dreamweaver 8 catching this missing template "relationship" and marking the code in error or otherwise indicating this to the developer?
    <and/or>
    2.  If Q1 "off-point" what might I be not yet understanding about these .asp / .dwt  "relationships" that would explain this scenario?
    ...at this point seems a bug in DW8 to create a relationship, eliminate 1/2 of that relationship but not error or notifiy developer or user...
    Has anyone else encountered this?
    Thanks in advance for all input!!!

    David:
    Thanks for the reply, and I take your point.
    Not to be argumentative, but...
    If I understand the "model" I would
    1st:Create the Template with the intention of applying a "consistent-format" across several pages.
    2nd:Create the subsequent pages applying the template to each...
    Isn't the intention further to enable the developer to be able to apply future changes to the original template so they propogate thru the site?
    I would interpret that as a 2-way (not a 1-way) relationship and expect that any change to any part of the relationship would be in some way communicated to the developer.
    Admittedly, after some greater expereince now w/Dreameweaver your point of reproducing the template from one of the existing "children" is an easy solution...
    I just thought I'd take one more stab at highlighting what seems "intuitive" to this relationship (imo).
    Thanks again for the response and the patience with this "counter-point."

  • Help needed with DWT file

    Please can you help, made initial template for my website but now I want to change template so I can edit meta tags (tags were originally an unetitable area).
    When I apply my example below in the DWT file and apply to all pages the meta tags disappear.
    Please can you help.
    Currently have..
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <meta name="keywords" content="keywords are here" />
    <meta name="description" content="description is here" />
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Title</title>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    <link href="../css-file/css.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" --><!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </head>
    And tried this but meta tags in pages disppear..
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <link href="../css-file/css.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Title</title>
    <meta name="keywords" content="keywords are here" />
    <meta name="description" content="description is here" />
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" --><!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </head>
    As always, thanks in advance.

    I've placed another example below, would this be correct.
    Move the charset <meta> tag and link to the style sheet below the title like this:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Title</title>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <link href="../css-file/css.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" --><!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </head>
    When you say don't put anything in the head of the document do you also mean taking out the title and reference to the external css file.
    No, I was responding directly to your question about the keywords and description. It's perfectly OK to put other things in the non-editable part of the <head>. But anything that you want to be able to change in child pages should be added directly to the child page. That's why Dreamweaver creates the second editable region called "head". By default, it's empty; but it's where you add things like keywords, extra style sheets, and JavaScript to individual child pages.

  • Creating print files that clients can modify in the future without using Indesign

    If I create a print/design piece for clients in Indesign CS3 is there a file format I can give them that they can modify in the future without coming back to me to modify it for them? Essentially build them a design template which they can use for another program such as word / publisher / something like that?
    Yes, publisher is gross...I know, i know, i cringed a little too...

    I'm with David on this one. If you can charge the client for making changes to a project you already created, why not do so? If the client has ASKED you for an "editable" format of the project so they can "save money" by making their own edits, they're cheating you.
    In a nutshell, if a client wants to edit a project, as Rodney mentioned, they'll need to pony up and purchase the required software, and THEN learn how to use it--nothing is free, right?
    Also be aware that by giving a client access to your production files, you are setting yourself up for the possibility of many phone calls "asking" how to do this or that in the files. Unless you also plan on adding a cost update for program tutorials, I wouldn't even think of it.
    Another thing to consider is this; once you turn over any production files, you may also be blamed for "corrupt files" when the client takes those files (edited or not) to an unknown printer who may tell the client, "I can't use these files". The client will then call you in frustration, exclaiming "The files you sent me are bad! The printer can't use them. You have to fix this right away." At this point, your best option is to add a disclaimer such as a READ-ME file on the disk, that states you aren't responsible for the quality of output of any files which you do not maintain final production control.
    Remember: we (as designers, printers, etc.) are in business to make money doing a job that a client doesn't know how to do. That's what business is all about. Just because a client might want to "save money" by doing it themselves doesn't mean you have to "train" them to do it without charging for that service, as well. In my business, I have an actual cost update item entry called "Software Assistance and Training", and we charge $180 per hour or fraction thereof to walk clients through editing a document we created, if they insist on requesting the project files from us. It makes sure we get paid for the time spent on all projects, even if it means spending an hour on the phone to "walk" a client through the steps of using the program. And finally: A client that doesn't want to pay for your services is a client any profitable business doesn't need.
    Just something to think about...

    I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. compressor created 2 files: dolby.... and mpeg2. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie?

    These are elementary streams and they would be used by DVD authoring apps that use them for reasons like foreign language capability. Examples would be DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore, Toast.
    The most straightforward way to burn your DVD is either to use the Share feature in FCP or the Batch Template feature in Compressor.
    If you can find a boxed copy of iLife (try Amazon), it should have iDVD as part of the suite of apps. iDVD offers far more complete authoring capability than FCP or C4. iDVD  doesn't work with elementary streams; you'd just drag in your HD movie and you'd be good to go.
    Good lluck.

  • Footer rising up on page w/.dwt file

    Hello all, I've been having a problem with the footer location when using the templates. I have been working on a site, built a model page which seemed to work well, and then saved it as a template. Header, footer, left sidebar, main content area. On the template, only the main content area was editable. Some of the pages on the site have a *lot* of text (that won’t change). I tried to make one of those using the .dwt file I’d made, and the footer winds up high on the page, cutting across the content area. It lines up right by the bottom of the sidebar.
    Call me old-fashioned, but I’d like to have the footer stay at the bottom of the page, below all of the text (off screen when appropriate).
    When I copy the code from the model page I created (instead of using the template), I don’t have this problem.
    The model page is on-line at http://www.h-france.net/indexNEW.html
    You can see the problem I'm having at http://www.h-france.net/reviewfromtemplateattempt.html
    Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

    (p.s. please ignore my screen name. Adobe had rejected so many that I began to think that the system wasn't processing any and just started hitting letters to see what happened).

    A clear float is exactly that. The float you want to clear is the #ContentWrapper, so if you add/modify the style rule for same as in
    #ContentWrapper {
        float: left;
    all is well

  • Force modified style be applied to previously created docx files as well

    Hi friends
    new to word.
    i have about 30 .docx documents.
    inside one of them, i selected a word which it's font is bold & is red & then i goto styles and right click on Heading1 and click on "update heading1 to match selection"
    then i right click on heading1 and selected modify and in opened box, i selected following two options.
    but the problem is , when i open any other .docx documents which i had previously created, the Heading1 style is default settings & is not what i modified, so i have to repeat modifying Heading1 style in all previously created docx files.
    any workaround?
    thanks in advanced

    You could use a Document_Open macro in the relevant template to do the updating next time the documents are opened. However, you probably wouldn't want that macro to run every time the (updated) documents are opened and it wouldn't update any that haven't
    been opened (meaning they'd still show the old Style if sent to someone whose system doesn't have your template available).
    The other option is to use a macro that loops though all the documents in one go to do the updating. The problem then becomes one of identifying which documents your template applies to, so as to not update others. If they're all in one folder, with no other
    documents, that's easy enough but, if they're scattered across multiple folders amongst many other documents, having to open & check perhaps thousands of files could take even a macro a long time to do all the processing. To get an idea of what's
    involved see, for example, the code I posted at:
    http://www.eileenslounge.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=14499#p107602. That macro simply updates template paths after a server change.

  • Creating external files (.txt, .json, etc)

    Hello everyone,
    I'm currently trying to find out how to create external files from a SWF/exe/app file created in Flash. Essentially I'm building a program to create templates for levels in a game. The SWF will be run locally (e.g. not online) and will allow the user to add/remove objects to a level of their design. They then need to be able to save the level template (ideally I need to be able to save as a JSON* file, but I'm sure I could get away with just a simple txt file) somewhere on their computer. These templates will them be imported by the game itself (not written in Flash, hence why I need to save the data as a json or txt file), which will then re-create the levels from the data contained in the save file.
    I had assumed this would be something that was really simple to do, but I cannot seem to find any tutorials or information on how to create external files. I can find plenty on reading from existing external files, but nothing about actually writing a new file entirely. I have read a few people complaining that non-local Flash SWFs cannot access the user's hard drive for security reasons, but cannot find any information on local SWFs.
    If anyone could tell me even roughly what I'm looking for, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a bit stuck just now haha
    *I have downloaded the corelib files which allow me to work with JSON files

    Flash is not able to write any type of text file on user system.
    U have to use air or zinc to intract with file system.
    Yes u can use shared objects also. Which stores value to user computer and browser stores cookies on user system
