BC variable not appearing in BEx

I have a Time variable "Last 6 months excluding current month".i have activated it in the Business Content.The problem is i can't see the variable in the Query Designer.Any suggestions.I am using BI7.

Not to sound like a help desk, but it may be worth you closing the application and opening it up again, I've noticed in version 7.0 that there seems to be a lag on the refresh of InfoObjects, etc this could be the same issue for you.

BEx variables not appearing in Filter tab

Hi All,
I dont see all the variables created in the BEx query designer in the modeller for any particular characteristic.
For example-Variable 'A' is created on material group in BEx query designer but i dont see that particular variable in modeller in FILTER tab.
Please throw some light on this.

Hi,
After you create a filter in query designer , highlight the filter char. and right click and choose "Save As" .. with technical name and description.
Now go back to planning moduler refresh filter section.Newly created filter in Query would appear here!!!!

Variables Not Appearing Correctly

I am using RoboHelp 8 and FrameMaker 9. In RoboHelp, I have linked to a FrameMaker book. I have encountered a problem that I cannot seem to resolve. All of my FrameMaker variables have imported correctly. However, in a few instances the following code has been added:
<span class="FM_variable" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-weight: normal;"> <?rh-udv_start name="AcmeWidgets" ?>Acme Widgets<?rh-udv_end ?></span>
Ideally, the variable should appear as:
<?rh-udv_start name="AcmeWidgets" ?>AcmeWidgets<?rh-udv_end ?>
The additional code is causing the variable to display incorrectly. I can remove the additional code, but it is added again each time I update the topics. This is only happening in one or two instances – the rest of the variables appear correctly. Can anyone help solve this dilemma?

You can start by running a variable report in Robohelp. Tools > Reports > Variables.
Make sure all your variables are accounted for in the Robohelp project. If not, reimport the files and let Robohelp rebuild everything.
Assuming that your variables are recognized by Robohelp, then in FrameMaker you can try this. Select the heading in question, and then click Heading 1 in your paragraph catalog. Next, while the heading is still highlighted, click Default Font in your character catalog. This should remove any additional character formatting on the variable itself.
Make sure you've mapped styles for paragraphs and character formats in Robohelp. Right-click the referenced FrameMaker book in Robohelp. Click Properties, and then select the Style Settings tab. Click Edit in the Style Mappings area. Select Character Styles in the Style Mapping Type box. You'll want to make sure you've get every FrameMaker style mapped to an acceptable Robohelp style.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope it helps point you in the right direction.

Variable not appearing for User

Hi everyone!
I have a query which the user have been using for quite some time and it was working fine. When the query is run the user has option of 3 input variables.
Today, all of a sudden, the 3rd variable does not show up for that user. The query runs fine for every other user. I mean all 3 input variables show up.
Some how only for this particular user, the 3rd variable does not appear.
Has any one encountered this situation. Can any one provide me some possible areas to look into as to what might have changed or what could be causing this problem.

Hi Raj,
I did try to remove the personalization on the user's system. But the variable still did not appear. I noticed few more things. The variable is "Site ID" (custom one).
1) The Site variable does not appear even on other queries only for this user.
2) I tried to make the user use another system and run the query, it still does not appear.
3) I created another query for user just to display the Site ID without any variable. It runs fine. When I created a selection variable for Site ID on the same query now the variable again does not appear.
So I think it must be either a change in authorization or change in definition.
Can you think of any other issue it might be encountering?

0Equipment - specific equipment not appearing in BEx query

Hi all
We load data to 0equipment. This has been running successfully, no data loading issues. We have various queries associated with this InfoProvider.
The queries are fine and work as designed except that 2 pieces of equipment are not appearing in the analyser.
I can find no issues with the indivudal records - they are in BW (I checked the master data for 0Equipment and they are there). The master data is active.
I thought there might be some restrictions in the query which was causing these records to be omitted, so wrote a new test query on that InfoProvider where I apply no restrictions except on equipment number. I tested this with a piece of equipment that I know works, and the test query returns my data. However, when I run it for the problematic equipment I get 'No data available'. (when I execute the query I am able to select the problematic equipment number from the list of single values).
I'm rather stumped - any suggestions most welcome.

run an RSRV test on the infoobject, there may be an issue with the SIDs. or if its a nav attribute could be an issue with the
X Y tables. RSRV should help

Input variables not displayed in bex analyzer

Hello Experts ,
I am facing a problem .I am displaying a report on bex analyser 7.0 and i am entering some input variables.
But my problem is when the result is displayed in the analyser and i am trying to take a print out everythg is coming in the print preview except the input variable values which i have used.
And i have to show this printout to the client and i am clueless how to make those variables visible in my analyser so that i can take printouts.
Pls help me on this.

Text Variables Not Appearing Correctly in InCopy

In working on a project I have discovered that the text variables do not properly appear in some of my InCopy assignments. I have tried deleting the assignments and recreating them, synchronizing the variables in the whole book, and checking in and out the assignments in InDesign. None of the approaches I have tried have resolved the issue. Hoping someone in the community may have run across this issue before and knows what I'm missing.

Search option for a variable not working in BEX

Hi Experts,
I have a variable on selection screen "Sold to". I am not able to do a search on this for "texts". For keys i am able to do. Is there any reason? Please suggest.

Hi Vijaya,
Check in BEx tab of sold to..which text(short, medium, long) are you using in BEx.
Check if the selected format of text is loaded in Sold to text master data table...
Check if you have created characteristic value variable...

Currency translation type NOT appearing in BEX

Hi All,
I'm having trouble displaying the currency translation type in BEX after running the query. When I use the context menu for 'Currency Translation', I do not see the desired curr tran types in the drop down list. They are available in the Query Designer but not after I've executed the query.
I also noticed that the ones that ARE available all have 'Fixed time ref' or 'Query key date' in the Time ref. The ones I would like to view have a 'Variable Time Ref' but not sure why this is causing a problem. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Senthil,
I believe this is happening because when you have run the report and got data, it means that this data refers to a particular time. If BEx allows you a variable time reference for the currency conversion, after the report has been run taking into account a different time...I am not sure if it would make sense...

Bi systems properties are not appearing in BEX

Hi,
I have saved my SAPLOGON.INI file in my system and I am seeing all the BI systems (Dev,Qty & Prod) in Logon pad.When i try to open the BEX Analyzer through programs-BEX-Analyzer there i am not seeing any of the BI Systems.
if I try Login through RRMX t.code then i am able to logon the Analyzer.
Why i am not seeing any of the BI systems in Analyzer through logon programs-BEX-Analyzer.
could you please let me know the reason.

Hi Sharma,
The saplogon.ini should be stored in the same directly where your BI components are installed. Check if moving it to there it will work or not.
Which steps have you performed? Did you copy the file from the original one and then saved it into a new directory?

Bex Query Exception Not Appearing In Bex Report

I have a created an exception in a Bex Query and built a report using the Bex Report Designer. But the exceptions that work fine in the query dont seem to work once I've embedded the query in a report. Is this right? is it not possible to use exceptions in a report or do I need to turn something on etc?

Pls refer the OSS # 331772 reg. this limitation. Exceptions if applied will not be dynamic in RD.
Report designer is a flat structure. You cannot collapse or expand the static columns. Hence, Conditions/Exceptions are not supported in Report Designer. You may try alternatively in WAD. It will surely work in WAD for formatted web based reports.

Complete short text is not appearing in BEX?

Hi Expert's,
I have Field for which there is a routine written. that routine says if xyz = '0001' then 'Customer with high/rate'.like diferent values for '0002','0003' and '0004'.This getting populated in the cube.But when I generate the Report on that cube the texts are getting truncated.
'Customer with hig'.
I am confused why we are not getting full texts for that field in the report?
can any body please help me to resovle this.

1.Please Change the display to Long Text in the properties of info-object in Query Designer...
2. Also, You may check the length of the info-object in which you are storing this text, may the length of the info-object is less than the length of text you are trying to store in it.

Default value of BeX customer Exit variable not Displayed in WeBI??

Hello Experts,
We are stuck with a problem where WeBI report is created on top of BeX query and we are not able to see the default value of Bex Customer exit variable in WeBI run. Here is the complete scenario:
1. One restricted KF is created in BeX, restricted with Customer exit variable on net Due date. And this variable is mandatory, ready for input, and Default value in calculated is user exit as current Week's Monday.
2. So, by default KF data should be restricted to Monday of current week, if user does not change this value.
3. Now, WeBI report is created on top of this Bex query, and all is working fine, i.e. we are getting variable as Prompt in WeBI, but Default value is not shown while Running the Webi Report.
So, need your inputs on the same, if default values from BeX in WeBI is supported or not? If yes, why this is happening, and how to resolve it?
Please notice, the restrcition is in KF only, it is not a separate restrcition on Net Due date in Filter area or in Defualt area of BeX
and we are on SAP BW 7.1 and BOXI 3.1 SP4.

WebI will prompt when executed, but the default values calculated by the user exit - do not appear.
Note: If the BEx variable has property 'ready for input' set / enabled, then its WebI prompt shows ok, but no default value appears.
Cause
This behaviour expected 'by design' (in the context of the product's current limitations) as explained in the online guide below:

Characteristic variable > processing type > Customer Exit is "Supported, without user entry"

The window to select dimensions simply does not appear and I can't move forward, due to variables exit in the report

I am having an issue when I try to create a WEBI document using Bex query through OLAP connection (Bics).
Due to variables exit, it is not possible to open query pannel in webi to choose wich dimensions to add to the webi document.
The window to select dimensions simply does not appear and I can't move forward!
In RSRT ou Bex Analyzer, the query is running fine without errors.
CMOD code is like this (I believe there is not any error as it is working flawless on other reports for other variable names):

I solved it.
The problem was due to date coming to exit - as you know some time intervals start at 01-01-1000, and as I was calculating 1000-1 = 999
I was getting and interval from 99901 to 201405. Do not know if it was not working because CHAR NUMC6 was failing trying to recognize interval 99901 - 201405, but probably, this was the issue.

Variable description not appearing in variable screen

Hi Experts,
we have created a variable which is ready for input. While executing the query, the variable description is not appearing in the variable screen, instead variable technical name is only appearing in the variable screen.
The same variable is being used in two queries. In one query, it displays the technical name and in the other query it displays the description of that variable.
your solution would be greatly appreciated.

yeah......it is strange. As soon as the variable screen comes up, all the variables normally shown in description rather than a technical name, unless you select "Key & text" OR only "key" OR only "Text".
But, in this case this particular variable is showing in technical name, the description itself is disappearing from the variable screen.
No changes have been made to variable. The same variable displays with descriptions in other query. so difficult to analyze.
