BC4J deployment thoughts and questions

Hi,
As I've said before on this forum we are developing a pretty big system using the BC4J framework. That's why we divided the system in several (sub-)projects. We also created some workspaces which groups projects that belong together.
When a certain project is deployed it may depend on some libraries created by another project deploy file. That's why we add a dependency to it in the project's deployment file. But this is only possible if the project is in the same workspace. I've created a workspace that groups all projects together and add's the necessary dependencies between the different projects' deployment files. Unfortunately these dependencies are saved at the project level, not at the workspace level. So when I open a certain project in another workspace the deployment profile doesn't work or the dependencies are removed automatically because the projects can't be found. Is there a way to circumvent this?
JDeveloper has Apache Ant integration. That's very nice. But how are we supposed to use this exactly? E.g. can we use Ant to deploy the BC4J projects in JARs (seperated over multiple JARs for each tier)? In other words is there a way to deploy BC4J projects outside of JDeveloper?
Regards,
Peter

The deployment functionality in JDeveloper is shared across all kinds of J2EE components, including EJB's, servlet's JSP, BC4J components, etc. I've asked one of our deployment-feature guru's to comment on this thread.

Ant definitely comes with built-in tasks to build jars, and it can be used to invoke command-line deployment tools such as those provided by OC4J. We don't have an automatic way to build the Ant build file for our existing deployment profiles, though, so setting up the JAR'ing up of the right components into the appropriate JAR's would be something you'd have to setup with Ant's patterns and path features (which are pretty powerful, but in any event something you'd have to setup once by hand).

  • Thoughts and questions on FCserver

    Here are some thoughts and questions I have on FCserver.
    Archiving
    Only a paragraph on archiving in the manual, wow any media assets management system has to have more to do with archiving.
    Our clips are in MXF (P2) format until Log & Transfer places MOV file in capture scratch folder.
    As far as I can tell just copying the MXF files (Contents folder and LASTCLIP file) won't be possible or even desirable. This means a edit/ingest station has to go through the process of logging and ingesting the files. So again FCserver won't be able to handle all the archiving because logging will only take the "good" shots.
    *Do you need/want all clips in FCserver?*
    No. We have a pretty high shoot ratio (recored/used) so I don't want to have all the junk cataloged.
    *Do you need all clips and other assets to be archived.*
    Yes. Which means that archiving can't be handed only by FCserver (if at all).
    I'm just not seeing much on archiving with FCserver.
    Editing
    At this point my workflow does not require the sharing of the primary representation (original file).
    The same station that logs & transfers files into the capture scratch folder is the edit station were the project is edited and finished. There is no need to move the primary representation (original file) so the time it takes to upload the files to FCserver is wasted. We only need thumbnails/proxies for review. That brings me to my next question.
    *Is edit-in-place the solution for me?*
    I'm not sure I understand the devices setup information. Can I just use the capture scratch folder of the an edit station as the device location for the primary representation (original file)? If so, I could then set some other hard drive on another computer (the one running FCserver) to hold the thumbnails and proxies. Is that right?
    And in the future, if it becomes needed, can I then move the primary representation device to some other drive? How would that effect the catalog?
    Viewing
    View/Review
    *Do sequences show in FCserver under FCP Project file or do you have to create a MOV file to be able to watch/review it?*
    It's my understanding that sequences are listed under the assets of a FCP project file, but the playing of a sequence would not likely work unless all effects have been rendered and uploaded (and in my case the primary representation uploaded). So seems that any review of a sequence would take less time if I just made a review version locally (on edit station) and then uploaded that.
    *Does the FCserver need a static IP?*
    I can see how you can find the FCserver on a LAN without the IP but if you want off-site viewers I'm assuming you need to have the FCserver setup with a static IP?
    Thank you all for your input.

    Just some answeres to all the easy things, have not enough time right now...
    Archiving:
    Your way is one way. You can also use the P2CMS from Panasonic with its plugin to access MXF files directly or use another quicktime component, e.g. this one described here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1477238&tstart=0
    *Editing/Edit in place*
    Edit in Place works only for Xsan volumes. All other volumes (internal and external drives, network attached storage) need to cache the files.
    Viewing
    Sequences only show up as sequence icons but you cannot play them back due to Final Cut Server has no FCP engine build in. You need to render out quicktime, at least as reference movie.
    *Static IP*
    Yes, you need an IP, but you get this by connecting to the net via your service provider. If you want to get a static IP, perfect. But if not you could use services like www.dyndns.org to get a name attached to your dynamic IP. This can be updated manually or via your router etc.

  • N900 Thoughts and questions

    Afternoon all, i have picked up on the N900, and after doing a fair bit of research i ordered one as it's fits my uses perfectly.  However reading other peoples questions i thought i'd post a message to see how big a deal people find the lack of MMS and the non Video calling over 3G issue
    I'm a late 20's guy, who maybe receives 1 MMS a month on average currently, never sends any, and in all my life have never made a video call using a mobile phone.  If i take a picture using a phone and want to send it to someone i email it these days as the last few nokia's i have owned all supported email in a (semi) decent way. Now we can upload to facebook, twitter, flickr etc etc and even add pics to Instant messages
    With all this social networking integration and new ways people keep in contact do you not think MMS has been on it's way out for a long while anyway? i don't think anyone will find it useful to develop an MMS app or support for the N900 when it has potential for a lot more interesting ways to communicate.
    As for video calling, since it seems to support skype i'd imagine those sensible/prudent users of this MID/tablet will opt for that route
    Feel free to add comments or thoughts on the N900, but please don't turn this in to a N97 bash...
    Message Edited by bigneil31 on 08-Sep-2009 02:41 PM

    For me personally the lack of MMS is an absolute deal breaker.  The reason being that even in these days of social networking I still have many contacts that do not regularly check their facebook or emails. Some are older people such as family members others are just not that into the whole social messaging scene.
    Quite often I receive picture based MMS messages from friends and family, often these are time critical.  I also send MMS to these people knowing full well that they check email/facebook/etc only once or twice a day and do not have instant messaging available to them.  I view MMS as a near instant messenger for images for the people that don't do instant messaging.
    The lack of video calling does not bother me in the slightest but the inability to make standard voice calls over 3G networks can be a problem for some.  This could result in reduced call quality for those that usually use 3G, along with other issues that have been discussed on other threads.
    I've also heard that it does not support java based applications but I do not know if that is true or not.
    My opinion at the moment is that it's a great internet tablet, but is it a good phone?  I'm waiting for the detailed reviews of the finished retail hardware/software before jumping on any bandwagons.

  • IMac 24inch thoughts and questions

    Hey all
    I have had my new 24 inch iMac for about 2 weeks now and I LOVE it. Just a few questions I'd like to ask.
    1) I have a 17 inch apple display, the 4x3 variety that was axed before the widescreen displays emerged. It's the plastic-look one.
    What adaptor do I need to get this baby working dual screen on my new iMac? I used to have it attached to a Powerbook G4 and that was sweet.
    2) My iMac is INCREDIBLY noisy when running windows XP. It has its fair share of 'working' sounds in OSX but in windows its ridiculous at times. What could be casuing this?
    3) My apple wireless keyboard keeps disconnecting from the computer, and theyre fresh batteries. What could be the porblem?
    Sorry for my complaints but I'm loving this machine and think it's superb.
    Anyone wanting an iMac, dont compromise on screen size... get the 24!
    Oh yeh, I have the 7600 graphics card, whats a good game to play on this baby?
    Thanks y'all

    "3) My apple wireless keyboard keeps disconnecting from the computer, and theyre fresh batteries. What could be the porblem?"
    Rycey,
    Have you checked all the settings on the Bluetooth panel of System Preferences?
    In addition, have you tried a PRAM reset?
    To reset the PRAM:
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (Apple logo), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Start up the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination after the startup chord sounds, but before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold all four keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup chord for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
    As for noise, I don't have windows installed, and don't yet have the Core 2 Duo, but on a new Core Duo I just setup this morning, I have had some success reducing noise, both fan and hard drive noises, by performing both the PRAM reset above, as well as the SMC reset: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446.
    Quieter didn't happen immediately, but over a couple hours it has become more quiet, which has been my previous experience with making these resets to somewhat noisier than expected iMacs. [For iMacs with a serious noise issue, I wouldn't pretend to claim any change will be particularly worthwhile, but without trying, how would one know.]

  • A2107A initial thoughts and questions

    I bought one of these on Christmas Eve and I'm generally impressed. Debated between the Lenovo and another Kindle Fire, but chose Lenovo for the sdcard option and the mostly vanilla Android OS.
    Some issues, though set to USA spell check is not working correctly. RAM is totally off, it clogs up and basically must be rebooted to play video or anything else. Video is messed up on hulu plus, voice out of sync with picture. This think badly needs firmware/Jelly Bean update.
    Questions: can I use a male micro USB cord to female USB cord to connect a USB stick to this to transfer files, play video? Is that button thing under the camera lens cover--southwest from the camera lens--a reset button? If so, why isn't it mentioned in documentation anywhere?
    Overall I like this tablet for the price but feel Lenovo needs to fix some bugs asap, expected a bit more for a Lenovo product.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I purchased this for $149.99 CAD at Best Buy here in Canada a couple of weeks ago.
    I could not find any Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Tablets, they had been selling for the same price, they had sold out. Probably a bait and switch scam.
    The Lenovo is a nice tablet, it work well and it is shy of memory.
    I did the update/upgrade download of Android and then every time I booted it was upgrading and optimizing all the apps I had installed. Apparently, this is an artifact of Android 4.0.3.
    I have been desperately trying to get a development environment set up to create an app, so I needed to get an ADB USB driver installed, on my Windows 7 64 bit system,  I used the following driver,
    <http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS022366>
    and modified the android_winusb.inf file by adding two entries for the A2107A-F,
    [Google.NTx86]
    ;Lenovo A2107A-F
    %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_17EF&PID_7435&MI_01
    [Google.NTamd64]
    ;Lenovo A2107A-F
    %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_17EF&PID_7435&MI_01
    This works now and I created and ap with Eclipse and ran it on the A2107A-F tablet.
    I was also able to make the LeTools (Syncrhoization Software) work with the tablet as well.
    <http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=5004>
    Lenovo Product staff have dropped the ball on this product. They did not get all the requisite pieces in place before putting this to market. Maybe the product team was too small, maybe the product team did not have some experienced mentors guding them. Lenovo has to do better, they should have had a specific website set up for this product with all the requisite pieces in place and everything nicely laid out. I spent time at various Chinese Lenovo websites and the file download links pointed to mega-download non-lenovo websites that had all expired. I was expecting a much better experience from Lenovo than this.
    For otthers that wish to develop apps for Android, a good strarting point to guide you in acquiring and installing all the tools, check out PhoneGap.
    All the best.

  • Nokia X/X2 -- Some thoughts and questions

    Moved from Symbian Belle, some thoughts:
    1. Email widget doesn't automatically refresh. Have to manually tap to load new mail despite specifying a sync. interval.
    2. Asking me to Sign in to a MS, Exchange, Nokia or Google account etc. to use the calendar. Can I not get a local one for which I can choose to Sync if desired, similar to Symbian?
    3. Does the X2 have a play via radio capability? I don't see the app but wanted to if the hardware capability is there?
    4. How do I know the phone is using Gps, Glonass or Beido? Specifications listed positioning capabilities.
    5. Don't see the mix radio app. Possibly not available in certain countries.
    6. Belle had option to automatically switch between GSM and 3G where available. X2 only allows a 3G only setting and GSM/CDMA.
    7. People and Phone apps need to be bundled together. While scrolling through contacts via phone app, if you accidently tap one, it starts dialing. Plus it doesn't show items as together and repeats contacts with more than one number.
    8. Didn't really like the Metro and Fastlane UIs. One reason was that the wallpaper was not changeable. So if you have gaps, then all you see is black.
    9. Glance screen doesn't seem customizable. Time appears on 2 lines, seems a bit odd.

    Reply to 9:
    Glance Screen on X v2 is almost amazing. http://developer.nokia.com/resources/library/nokia-x-ui/essentials.html

  • Deploying EAR and EJB (ClassLoader Question)

    Hi,
    Have a few queries. Appreciate any quick answers.
    (a) To deploy a EAR or EJB jar to WebLogic server, is it necessary to include the jar location specifically in $CLASSPATH?
    I think not. Am I correct?
    (b) Is the bean/EAR deployed at module level? Is there a setting for this - is it at bean deployment descriptor? Where can I find this?
    If (say) I need to update an EJB, do I un-deploy, update and re-deploy it?
    Or must I restart the entire WLS container?

    --> An EAR includes one or more EJB files. You don't need to specify the location because it's contained at application.xml file inside the EAR.
    --> Each bean has a deployment descriptor. You can see it at META-INF directory
    If you need to update an EJB (that it is not part of and EAR), you are right.
    The WLS container not need to be restarted.

  • Apple ID for the Deployment Program and VPP is the same

    I created an Apple ID for the Deployment Program and authorized the same ID for VPP.  Now I learned these should be different.  Is this a problem and if so, how can the VPP ID be changed?

    You should be able to. The only hiccup will be that any apps that you have purchased with the older ID you will have to repurchase with the newer ID to be able to keep using them.
    Though of course this actually depends on how you plan to use the IDs. For example, I had an Apple ID through iTunes a few years before I opened a .Mac/MobileMe account (what iCloud is now in case you are new to Apple). Thus, my iPhone and iPad actually have two IDs on them, one for iTunes/App Store, and one for anything associated with iCloud. I've never really had any problems assoctiated with having two IDs on one device. Usually just an extra step when I get a new device or have to restore either of them for some reason. Though I understand that this is probably not what you plan on doing, I thought I would use it as an example of what the IDs are really associted with on the devices.

  • My complaints and Questions MP4 M4V video files and other complaints

    My complaints and Questions MP4 M4V video files and other complaints
    I have been scratching my head as to how to fix my problem and I found some answers and some questions along the way. First of all, I have a video that should be correctly formatted for my iPod. Its specs are:
    Kind: MPEG-4 video file
    Size: 19.4 MB
    Bit Rate: 125 kbps
    Date Modified: 8/18/2009 2:15 PM
    Play Count: 1
    Last played: 8/21/2009 12:25 PM
    Profile: Low Complexity
    Channels: Stereo
    Total Bit Rate: 360 kbps
    Video Dimensions: 352x264
    Video Codec: H.264
    F:\File\AnotherFile\A3rdFile\TheMovieFileInQuestion.mp4
    Wow that was a chore. Apple! Let us drag copy and paste our info tabs information so we don’t have to type all this stuff when we are having trouble. **another problem and suggestion** right there.
    Ok, back to the problem of the forum.
    From what I can see from http://www.apple.com/ipodclassic/specs.html this file falls in line of everything required in order to be able to play on my iPod. It plays in iTunes fine but will NOT sync with my iPod. I get an annoying message that states, “Some of the Songs and videos in your iTunes library, including “BlaBlaBlaiPondFixYourJunkBlaBlaBla”, were not copied to the iPod “My iPod” because they cannot be played on this iPod.” Why oh why can iTunes play this video file but my iPod cant. Especially when the specs on Apple’s website say it can.
    So that was bugging me for a LONG time until I found my “Create iPod or iPhone version” option in the “Advanced” heading. Thank goodness this made my files playable on my iPod. Extremely LONG wait though. I know that other programs convert it in ½ the time. But times not to important as long as it gets done, (would be very convenient if it was faster though **Problem and suggestion**)
    Ok, now that I have used the “Create iPod or iPhone version” option it has slowly but surly converted my video. Ok, here is my main problem, the new file which is the result of the conversions information is as follows:
    Kind: MPEG-4 video file
    Size: 35.4 MB
    Bit Rate: 125 kbps
    Date Modified: 8/18/2009 2:15 PM
    Play Count: 1
    Last played: 8/21/2009 1:28 PM
    Profile: Low Complexity
    Channels: Stereo
    Total Bit Rate: 658 kbps
    Video Dimensions: 352x264
    Video Codec: H.264
    C:\File\WhyIsThisNewFileInMyMusicFolder\TheMovieFileInQuestion.m4v
    So basically it has made my file bigger *not a bonus in my book* greatly increased my Bit Rate *another interesting feature*, and I think the biggest change it has changed it from an .mp4 to an m4v.
    Why does it need to be an .m4v I could have sworn some of my videos were or are in mp4 which shouldn’t matter anyway because I was under the impression that iPods could play mp4 files. So that’s my biggest complaint and question. Why can my 80GB classic iPod not play my MP4 files and why am I forced to convert them??
    This conversion also creates 2 files in iTunes when I am done which is annoying because I have to go into my files info and look to see what file is the mp3 in order to remove it. Very annoying I can open my iPod options and see the files and some are faded (the ones it can not play) why can’t I remove them from that area.Suggestion Apple please make files that cannot be played on my iPod stand out some how for easier cleaning Suggestion. Thank you.
    Speaking of cleaning iPods, when I moved my entire library to an external drive I was faced with a terrible problem. “This file could not be found, would you like to locate file”, I was faced with this annoying message at least 600 times. Now I am glad that iTunes has a little “!” mark to show dead links so that you do some minor cleaning, Good Job iTunes No compliant there. However iTunes has no way of selecting all the broken files for major cleaning (like in my case). Going through and deleting over 600 files 1 by 1 is extremely time consuming and annoying. **Suggestion Apple please add more cleaning features for organizing iTunes**.
    Ok, speaking of organization now, another problem that appeared when converting my video files was that it put my new videos into the location where I have all my songs (my external hard drive) why can’t it put the new files in the locations of the original file? I have my computer highly organized and my original files were in that drive in that folder for a reason. If I could open my original file and skip the conversion, my iTunes would go to that specific folder to access the file which is fine. But now these new conversion files are elsewhere taking up space and disorganizing my computer. True I can go into the new location and move the files to where I want them (original location) but I don’t think I should have to hunt them down, copy, move, delete ect etc for all these files over and over. Very annoying, time consuming and should be unnecessary. **Suggestion Make file creation and location more customizable, and user friendly, your customers will love you for it**.
    Well since I have gotten into Apples iTunes and iPod problems that I have had to face I might as well bring up one or two more problems and suggestions. About a month after purchasing my iPod a sibling bought one as well. His however is way more convenient then mine. I suppose he has a 5th gen. so here is my question: why does he have a search option and I don’t!!!! Why does he get more features every so often and I don’t?! Why can’t Apple write some software for us classic guys which got the iPods going! It’s very annoying when I have to spend more time looking for the song then I spend actually listening to it, when he can pull his up in like 3-6 seconds? I highly doubt the hardware between our iPods is that dissimilar and even if they are why cant software be written for us. **Suggestion treat all your customers good not just the newer ones, and make some more features for the classics like me and my iPod.” We will be grateful for it I promise.
    Ok, I am almost done. Let me just recap my questions, I know my post is kind of lengthy.
    #1. Why can’t my iPod play MP3 video files? And why do I have to convert to almost all the same settings except changing it from an mp4 to an m4v. according to Apples own site I should be able to play .m4v .mp4 and .mov files!! Note: remember iTunes plays them fine but my iPod will not.
    #2. Would be much more convenient to be able to copy the information from the windows in iTunes so that problems and trouble shooting would be much easier. A little check on off options in iTunes advanced settings would be terrific.
    #3. Why is the conversion so slow? Please speed it, you have the power. Convenience is the thing that sells products.
    #4. Files that cannot be played on the current iPod need to be easier recognized for simpler cleaning.
    #5. Also make an easier way to select all dead link files for faster cleaning, deleting, etc. This one is important.
    #6. Make a user friendly way to change where my files are going to end up once I convert them for iPod more options and better customizable settings are need.
    #7. One of the most important is ADD A SEARCH OPTION. I and we classics will LOVE Apple for it.
    For you readers, I apologize for the long post, and any grammatical errors you might find throughout it. These are problems that I have faced with these programs and hardware and I wanted to make sure they got acknowledged and hopefully addressed. Any information about why I cannot play MP4 Video files on my iPod would be the best. If anything in my post gets answered that’s the one I want most. Will save me a lot of hassle.
    Thank you all and I look forward to your suggestions and comments. All are welcome and appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Bond, James

    Was playing with iTunes and thought of another suggestion! Let us play files in iTunes from an iPod! A friend or sibling should be able to plug his iPod into my computer open iTunes and play any of the files there. Many times I have wanted to show a movie clip or video to a friend, and I have the dock so I can do it on my T.V. but play it on their computer in their iTunes forget it. That would be a very nice feature as well so we can watch our movies at maximum size or listen to music on a better sound system, just another suggestion that would be nice. Thanks

  • What is the significance of the Assembly Deployment Target and Feature Scope?

    Hello,
    We have created a project as Farm Solution (not sandbox).
    Under project properties we can see an option for Assembly Deployment Target : GAC or WebApplication.
    I know that GAC will deploy the dll to windows\assemblies and WebApplication will deploy to website/bin folder.
    Now, we add a feature to the project; in here we can see a dropdown for scope with options as: Farm; Web; Site; WebApplication. I know that depending upon what option is chosen; the feature can then be activated by going to the respective manage features
    option via SharePoint front end UI.
    Can you tell me what is the significance of the Assembly Deployment Target and Feature Scope?

    >>Can you tell me what is the significance of the Assembly Deployment Target and Feature Scope?
    Feature scope can be decided based on the type of artifacts you will be building
    Check the below link for what type of artifacts can be build at different levels of scopes
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms454835(v=office.14).aspx
     wrt to Assembly Deployment Target depends on what type of components you are deploying through your solution which will be specified in manifest.xml. There are advantages
    if you deploy the components to web application rather GAC like all Apppools will not get recycled, avoiding IIS reset etc. But if you have 3rd party dlls and feature receivers which need to deployed along with the solution then its advisable to deploy to
    GAC

  • Deploy Applet and MySQL - how to read and write

    Question on deploying Applet and MySQL
    I am building an applet that is to be a part of a simple game. The applet is supposed to read data from a MySQL server and use it to place towns on the map. In addition, the applet must be able to write to the base.
    I have build a prototype and ran it in netbeans on my computer. It then successfully read data from a local MySQL base. HOWEVER; when I embed the applet in html code it no longer reads from the base. My method for connecting to the base is
    try{
    Statement stmt;
    ResultSet rs;
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
    String url=adress;
    Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, user);
    stmt=con.createStatement();
    rs=stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * " +
    "from "+table+" ORDER BY id");
    while(rs.next()){
    get data...
    Town T=new Town(data...); //construct town object
    TL.put(T); //put town objects in an object TownList to use later
    con.close();
    catch(Exception e){
    So;
    1) Why wont the applet read anymore?
    2) Is there a better way to do this? I have heard that its better to connect applets to servlets in some situations. What demands does this place on the server? Is there software that you need to install on the server to use servlets?

    I think I do need an applet. The map I have written permits a lot of features that I dont know how to achieve in another way.
    1) Zooming in and out on mousewheel
    2) Clicking on on two towns gives the distance and by selecting a trooptype one can get information about the traveltime between cities.
    3) Right now, I have a feature to find players or groups of players that are of special interest. It allows a player to submit a list of interesting players. The applet reads this list and provides a button with the players name. If one clicks the name of a player, all his cities flash between their originall color and white (using thread).
    I need java to do this and I need to run it in a webbrowser because there are som parts of the game that is made up of php. So I assume I have to build it as an applet?

    A common question we are asked is 'why is my device not achieving 11ac data rates?'
    One of the most common answers relates to client compatibility/capability. To get the highest possible data rates of 11ac (assuming proper distance and RF health), the AP and the client device must both be capable supporting the requirements - 5GHZ, 80MHz Channel, short guard interval, 3 spatial streams. Each spatial stream has a max of 433.3Mb/s (at 80MHz, short GI).
    The majority of 11ac-capable wireless cards on the market do not support 3 spatial streams. Most adapters in wireless-capable devices are 1SS or 2SS.  For example, the Intel 7260 11ac adapter used in many devices is a 2SS adapter - therefore it's max possible data rate is 866.7.  Another common adapter in use is the 11ac Broadcom 3SS that Apple uses in the newer Macbooks.  These devices can achieve the 1.3GBs PHY data rate.
    This guidance is the same for 11n adapters as well.  To achieve max rate, your 11n AP and adapter must both support 40MHz channels, 3SS, short GI.
    Note: The 11n and 11ac standards both define support for 4SS.  4SS-capable devices are rare, so 3SS is essentially our reality.
    One of the most useful references for questions related to this topic is the AP Data Sheet for each AP.  Here's the AP3700 for example:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/3700-series-access-point/data_sheet_c78-729421.html
    Table 1 lists the expected data rate per MCS Index value by #SS at each channel width and GI. Indexes 0-7 are the same for 11n and 11ac (11n limited to 40MHz channels of course).  And MCS 8 & 9 are 11ac-only 256-QAM modulations.

  • Deploy Forms and Reports with Load Balancing

    I am trying to determine what we need to install here. I have read OracleAS, Web Cache, Application Server, and
    Forms documents and have no answer still.
    We are currently run 9iAS with Forms and Reports 6i only.
    I did not do any of those installs. We are migrating to
    Forms and Reports 10g. I need to setup an OracleAS 10g
    Forms and Reports application server with the ability to
    do Load Balancing over 2 windows Web servers to handle
    4,000+ users. The application database will be on its own
    Windows server.
    Do I need to install the Infastructure, BI, and Web cache?
    Or just Oracle 10g Application Server option? Or other?
    Do I need to install it on both web servers and do
    something like clustering? Do I need to install Web
    cache? I just took the 10g AS class and basically did not learn anything about deploying Forms and Reports.
    Can anyone give me a place to find the things I need to
    install and setup?
    Thanks.
    Kim

    I am a DBA and have not done an iAS or AS installation
    before but am now required to learn it. We will be using
    SSL and no load balancing hardware. We setup for other
    customer sites and setting Windows servers in the past.
    We have not done load balancing before.
    I am just confused with all the 10gAS options there are to
    install to just run 10g Forms and Reports and setup
    OracleAS 10g with the load balancing features.
    So I just need to install OracleAS Forms and Reports
    Server if I am just installing Forms and Reports with SSL.
    But if for Load Balancing Oracle 10g I need to cluster
    just Reports 10g? I thought I would need OracleAS10g
    installed on my two Windows servers and somehow cluster
    or let the two know they are the same web page handling
    the incoming requests? I do know about Apache redirct. Is
    that an Apache feature and is it covered in an Oracle
    documentation? They did not cover it in class either.

  • Deployment Server and Essbase Server on different boxes

    Hi,We're currently testing Hyperion Essbase 7.1.2 and we were wondering if it was possible to have the Essbase (Analytic) Server on one machine and Deployment Server on a different one. At first sight, it seemed so, so we did just that.Now, we'd like to test our setup by signing on through the ESS command line prompt (on the Deployment Server machine) but seem to miss something since the connection ("signon") is refused. The funny thing is that on the machine on which the Essbase Server is installed, we've also installed the Administration Services: through the Administration Console, we can indeed connect to the Deployment Server and interact with it.So my first question is: is our setup possible (that is, having the Deployment and Essbase servers on distinct boxes)?If so, what is the meaning of all the parameters needed for the "signon" command of the ESS command line prompt?Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,A. Lepage

    I am running Essbase on one Windows server and EAS, EDS, ESS, and EIS on another. Did you create the Analytic Server in EDS and then Sync Security?

  • Some problems and questions using OWB

    For Igor or anyone who can help me :-)
    Hello Igor,
    Thanks for all your help concerning my mapping deployment problem! Now it’s working better ;-)
    I used the OWB Runtime Assistant to create a new runtime target schema and i use the owner of this schema as user while logging to OWB.
    Now i can create and deploy without problems mappings, tables, functions, procedures, packages, dimensions, views, materialized views, process flows (i have installed the Oracle Workflow Client 2.6.2.0.0 with OWF builder and OWF mailer ).
    However I have still some problems and questions :-)
    a) After deploying a mapping or process flow i can execute them from OWB Deployment Manager. How can i schedule the execution of a deployed precess without using OWBDM ? (I want to execute a process every day to perform ETL).
    b) I think i have a problem deploying cubes. I create a cube in OWB, the validation is OK, the deploment succeds, but if i look with OEMC in the tree in the Warehouse OLAP section no cube is created. Only the fact tabe is created. If i look to the scripts from the Pre Deployment generation results i found DDLs only for TABLE, INDEX, UNIQUE KEY, FOREIGN KEY and ANALYZE object types, meanwhile during a dimension deployment i found also a DDL for the DIMENSION type object. WHY ?
    c) If I look in the procedures of the new created OWB Runtime Target Schema I found 3 procedures which are in error and when I try to compile them I receive the following error messages :
    - procedure WB_OLAP_LOAD_CUBE
    PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS_AWM.CREATE_AWCUBELOAD_SPEC' must be declared
    - procedure WB_OLAP_LOAD_DIMENSION
    PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS_AWM.CREATE_AWDIMLOAD_SPEC' must be declared
    - procedure WB_OLAP_LOAD_DIMENSION_GENUK
    PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS_AWM.CREATE_AWDIMLOAD_SPEC' must be declared
    How can solve this problem? Is there any link with the fact that the cube is not generated?
    d) When I first acces the deployed DIM in the OEMC tree I receive a message saying that the dimension does not have complete metadata as needed for use by Oracle OLAP services (because is created either in an earlier version of Oracle database or it was created by an an other application than OEMC) and OEMC automatically generates the default needed metadata. Is this normal ?
    I work in an environment with
    - Oracle 9i Database 9.2.0.1.0
    - Oracle 9i Client 9.2.0.1.0
    - Oracle 9i Warehouse Builder Products 9.2.0.2.8
    Best Regards:
    Vlad
    PS Sorry for my poor English ;-)
