BC4J: How is the setup ?

Hi,
This may be a basic question,
when running a bc4j app thru jdev, one would specify the connection and that is what it would use to go to the db.
When the bc4j app is deployed, how and where is the setup that would help the AM in getting the connection ?
for eg.
I have an AM with 2 VO going against certain tables and a client which is like a command line utility which fetches the root AM via Configuration. But how would it know where to connect to ?

Depending on how you deploy, you need to setup either a JDBC connection, a IIOP connection or both. You might have to provide additional information like a gatekeeper (Visibroker) or a name/address of a server.
BC4J has a notion of Configurations.
Setting up a configuration does 2 things.
1. It allows you to provide all the information necessary to connect.
2. It tells BC4J what type of deployment it has to provide.
The configuration is used to deploy the application. (what classes are needed
on the middeltier and what classes are needed on the client)
The configuration is also used at runtime to provide all the information to
connect.
At runtime you can intercept and update connection information using a mechanism called ConnectionStrategy.
To answer your own question, start looking at the configuration wizards.
(rightclick an appmodule and select 'Configurations...")
This wizard will show you deployment flavors and expected information.
Take it from there will probably help you to find the underlaying concepts in the documentation.
